UPDATED: Bad News: My Laptop’s display is toast

I have owned a dell Inspiron 1501 for a couple of years. Tonight that Laptop’s. LCD display went south. I am now officially without a computer. The display had been acting up a little and I’d been worried about it. Now, she is toast.

So, unless I can beg my parents for a new laptop, I am screwed. It would be nice if my readers would chip in to donate, so I can get another laptop, but that would never happen. I’ve made too many enemies. 🙁

So, there is my plight. Once again, I am screwed.

My laptop, toasted. 🙁

I am writing on this iPod touch. It’s doable, but a big pain in the butt.

Life sucks, it is always something. 😡

Update: Someone suggested in the comments that I try hooking up an old monitor and use it till I can get something. I was not sure if it would switch over without booting, but it did. I am really glad I kept this old 17 inch CRT monitor. (That means it’s not a flat screen, it’s got a picture tube. OLD SCHOOL!)

I’ll snap a picture of the old monitor here:

Old school stuff:

So there you have it. my old school set up. If I don’t go totally blind, I’ll be okay, until I can go get another laptop. Of course, if you want to help me keep from going blind, you can hit my tip jar and give a guy a hand.

Give to the “keep Patrick from going blind fund, AKA as the I need a new laptop as my old one’s display took a crap” Fund

UPDATE: My friend Joe in Ohio tells me I can get a nice machine from NewEgg.com for about $410.00 plus shipping. this would be pretty much what I would really need. So, if you can help out here, please do. Thanks!

Here’s the Jar… If you are inclined to help get a blogger back into sane, none blinding blogging again.

    1. Hello Judith and thanks for your comment. At some point, when I am in a better way, Money-wise; I may seek out a replacement LCD for this Laptop. For now, I am now using a laptop that did belong to my Dad. (He now has a 17 inch display laptop…) It works good and it’s bit nicer than my old one.

But thanks for the suggestion. 😀

  1. Have you tested to see if it will still drive an external monitor? You might still get some use out it that way as an older monitor can be had very cheaply or even free, giving you more time to save towards a proper replacement.

    1. I thought about that and I didn’t think it would switch over, but I tried it and it worked. Luckily I do have an old monitor over here and it does still work. Now I gotta do some stuff here.

    2. But thanks for the suggestion, another friend of mine made the same one. But I gotta get another laptop, this old monitor is making my freakin head hurt. Ugh. 😥
