UPDATE: Glenn Reynolds is wrong

I saw this last night and I did not care to blog about it. But, for the sake of having something to blog about; I will.

Glenn Reynolds lost his credibility with me, when he posted this rather idiotic screed saying that he should resign because law enforcement came to the man’s house who produced the now infamous video.  As much as I understand the concept of freedom of speech, and as much as I understand the fallout from it. Also, as much as I know President Obama’s handling of the situation was horrible and how bad it is that embassies had no Marine protection. The point is this: Obama did not create this entire mess at all. Obama did not shoot that video and he did not mock the Muslims; someone else did. In fact, it was a Coptic Christian with a bug up his rear about Muslims.  This same Coptic Christian had audacity to attempt to pawn himself off as a Jewish person as well; which was, in the word of a well-known Jewish blogger, a blood libel.

What happened here was nothing more than a classic case of Muslim-Baiting. Muslim-baiting is the same damned thing as race-baiting. Saying something horrible offensive about a black or other sort of minority and then when that black or other minority has a negative reaction to that; the person hurling the insult, sits back and says, “See how crazy they are?” It is the classic setup and smear. White Republicans and Conservatives do this to blacks and other minorities all the time and it is wrong. In fact, there a few Conservative blogs that are dedicated to that very purpose.  (I fully admit, I played that game for a short time over on my old and this new blog; for hits and after a while, it began to bother my conscience and I stopped it)

To blame Obama for this whole thing is simple-minded and reeks of desperation to pin the blame on the Democratic and Obama White House. When in fact, the blame should be put at the feet of this idiotic Coptic Christian, who, it appears, to have broken the terms of his violation and could end up back in jail for it too. It appears that Mr. Reynolds has forgotten the concept of rule of law. Which is something, as a Conservative myself, I happen to support. I am all for the idea of freedom of speech, however, I am not for the idea of breaking the law to make that speech. Plus too, the man did that, knowing darned good and well that he would be putting people’s life in danger by doing it. He also lied to many people to get it done as well. This is simply called blatant dishonesty, not to mention breaking the law to insult a Muslim.

I understand Glenn’s feelings about Muslims and the Religion of Islam, believe me, I do.  However, in our quest to make people see the truth about Muslims, the Democrats and Socialism, we must not engage in this sort of simple-minded gutter sniping. Especially at the President of the United States of America. I mean, come on; unless you are one of the idiotic Alex Jones crowd members; you would not seriously believe that Obama actually wanted this to happen. Yeah, I know, the Coptic Christian donated to Obama — big deal. Many people did.  This means absolutely nothing and has no bearing on what the man did. if anything he will get treated better by the Government. UPDATE: Oops. My bad, I didn’t read that entire piece at the link. No thanks to Breitbart’s deceptive headlines, I got taken. Anyhow, I still do not believe the blame should be put on Obama, at all. The man who made the Movie is at fault, not the President. Although, I do not believe he ought to go to jail or anything. The Muslim world needs to learn tolerance, it’s just that simple. Again, sorry about the error. But, if Breitbart would get off the silly deceptive headlines; none of this would have happened.

In closing: I think that sometimes that my fellow bloggers on the right need to just sit back, take a couple deep breaths and think, before they hit publish. Just my thoughts and I welcome yours here. Just remember the rules, please.

Here’s a round up blogger reactions here.

  1. From the author’s bio:
“On December 28, 2007, I started Political Byline, which was, at the time a Centrist blog. I wrote at Political Byline for 6 years. ”

    Ending in Dec 2013, then.

So help me sleep better this fall – will the Yankees win the World Series in a few weeks, or even next year? And will Mariano come back?

And of more general interest – Will Romney or Obama win in November?

    “Reading is fundamental”

Yet so often it is preceded by writing.

As to the notion that a *possible* federal parole violation is investigated by midnight detentions, please…

I thought I mentioned it. But, I ran a blog, called “The Populist” that ran from around the early part of 2006 till December of 2007. It started on Blogspot and eventually moved over to WordPress. So, yes, I have been blogging since 2006. Six Years. I’ve been out of work since 2005. If you really want to get in the numbers. I have not had a good paying long term job, since 2000. I’ve had some jobs. But things really didn’t go for me that well in the last 12 years. Also too: Sometimes I get my numbers messed up. My apologies. 🙁

It’s in my bio. I just left the dates out.

No idea. I really am not a baseball nut. I follow the tigers here in Detroit. If they’re winning, I cheer like everyone else. If not, Eh, oh well. I’m not a huge sports nut.

And of more general interest – Will Romney or Obama win in November?

I have no earthly idea really. I know that the election will be a squeaker. Of course, the way things have been going here as of late, I am starting to think that Obama does not want to win.

I think also that this middle east stuff, and the perception that he was not on the ball will handicap Obama quite a bit. Also, if Romney can keep from screwing up in the debates or out doing appearances. He will win big. Although the Liberal media is going to hound him like a dog.

So, there’s my opinion on that.

      😀

  2. But telling the muslim world that we understand because this guy really offended you (even though there is intel and such of planning from US and Egyptian sources) is beyond retarded.

I agree and blaming Obama and saying he should resign; because some idiot made a movie insulting Muslims and might have broken the law is also retarded.

  3. Patrick,

I don’t see where “white republicans and conservatives do this (race-baiting) to blacks and minorities all the time.” Thats a pretty broad and generalized statement. You call yourself a conservative but I find that one to be a tactic of the left. Just because you did it, as you claim, while writing a left of center blog doesn’t mean that the right does it. Do you honestly believe all the media stereotypes of the tea-party?? The right being “racist” is the oldest, lamest line in the book. There is never any proof of it and it just gets shouted out if the right disagree’s with someone on the left who happens to be a minority. Apparently we can only disagree with them because we hate their skin color and not because we hate socialism.

Now, if this guy broke rules of this probation then fine. He gets whatever he gets for that. But telling the muslim world that we understand because this guy really offended you (even though there is intel and such of planning from US and Egyptian sources) is beyond retarded. It doesn’t matter what someone calls you. If some minority calls you a “cracker” and you kill him for it are you justified because he was “race-baiting”? No, you go to jail for murder. You don’t get off because he “offended you”. Thats not how the law works. This guy can spew all the hate he wants and it’s not against the law. If some muslim comes and kills him for it then that person gets arrested for murder. They don’t get let off because he was “offended”.

As to wether O had any involvement in this, well I’d like to say no. And perhaps it is just conincidence that he made this movie by breaking his probation. But if thats what it is then the matters should revolve around his probation issues and not the subject matter in his movie.

    1. Quoting you:

Just because you did it, as you claim, while writing a left of center blog doesn’t mean that the right does it.

Um, I didn’t say that. Reading is fundamental. I did that on my old blog, political byline. Which was the same political slant as this one and I did it here. Did you even bother to follow the links to the blogs that I mention and look around there? I doubt it.

Spinning and denying does not change the facts.

      But thanks for trying sir!

Oh, and thanks for your military service. I saw the .MIL in your email address.

    2. Do you honestly believe all the media stereotypes of the tea-party?? The right being “racist” is the oldest, lamest line in the book. There is never any proof of it and it just gets shouted out if the right disagree’s with someone on the left who happens to be a minority. I don’t deal in stereotypes. I deal in facts.

Please check out this posting here, with the photos.

Also too, please check these sites: Here, Here and Here and you tell me, that there is no racism at all on the right.

David Frum has exposed this stuff in the past; and just because he did not go along with the Wilsonian crowd and decided that the Wilsonian hawkish mindset was wrong; people smeared him. Well, guess what? He was right about this right here. Let’s not forget the American Conservative Magazine, which is Anti-Semitic as hell, to the point the owner of the magazine going to a Occupy AIPAC protest.

Again, I do not deal in stereotypes. I deal in facts, and if you want to ignore or gloss over facts, just because it does not fit your damned narrative; fine and dandy. But don’t ask me to do it, okay? Because it ain’t happening on this blog. I’m not going to sit here, like some freakin’ idiot and accuse the left of hate and purposely ignore the hate on our side of the fence — Period, end of story. That’s just not how I operate. Don’t like it? Go read somewhere else. Because I don’t tow the party line on stuff like this here. I am a Thinking Man, and I know hate when it see it. Yes, there was hate in the Tea Party, I know not everyone there were haters. But there were haters in the crowd. Just like there are haters on the Right, as well as, the Left.

So there you go. The facts! You can’t deal with that; tough crap. It’s called friggin reality.

      NEXT!
