I have no idea whether Trump planted the story, but given how nasty he has been at tearing down his opponents with despicable lies and smears of his own, it seems quite plausible to me that he not only knew about the story but probably sanctioned it as well.
And personally I’m finding it harder and harder to stay out of the #NeverTrump camp.
