Duck Dynasty to end

This comes via USA today:

The Video:

The Story:

Duck Dynasty is approaching its last (duck) call.

The Robertson family, the stars of the A&E docu-series, said the show will end in April during a short video announcement after Wednesday’s season premiere.

In a statement accompanying the video, the cable network said: “After five years, 130 episodes and one of the biggest hits in the history of cable, the Robertson family and A&E jointly decided that Duck Dynasty, the series, will come to an end after this season.”

The statement says Duck (Wednesday, 9 ET/PT) will end after the current season. New episodes will run through Jan. 18, resuming March 1 with seven more episodes, including the finale on April 12. Although that will be the end of the series, A&E says a series of holiday specials will follow.

After its premiere in 2012, Duck, which follows a Louisiana family that hit it big in the duck-call business, became a TV and cultural phenomenon. By 2013, episodes were drawing more than 10 million viewers. However, ratings for recent episodes are just a fraction of the earlier numbers, with original episodes from August averaging under 1.5 million viewers.

It’s a sad thing, one the programs on TV that actually promoted Christian values, is being taken off the air. It is just as well, they were on for 5 years and their luster had ran out. The first and second seasons were great. After that, they started getting silly and started repeating themselves a bit.

Still, it is a shame to see them go. Sad smile

UPDATED: Leon Russell Dead at 74

Saw the alert on my Fox News app on my phone.

One of the greatest rock musicians is dead at 74.

Via Rolling Stone:

Leon Russell, renowned multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who collaborated with the likes of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, the Rolling Stones and Elton John over the course of 50 years in the music industry, died Saturday. He was 74.

He was the forgotten man of Seventies rock — until Elton John pulled him back into the studio to make one more classic album

“Leon Russell died on Nov. 13, 2016 in Nashville at the age of 74. His wife said that he passed away in his sleep,” Russell’s website wrote. “The Master Of Space And Time was a legendary musician and songwriter originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma who performed his gospel-infused southern boogie piano rock, blues, and country music for over 50 years.”

Elton John, collaborated with Russell on 2010’s The Union, paid tribute to the musician on Instagram. “My darling Leon Russell passed away last night. He was a mentor, inspiration and so kind to me,” John wrote. “Thank God we caught up with each other and made The Union. He got his reputation back and felt fulfilled. I loved him and always will.”

His music is heard every day. Like this here, he is the one playing Piano:

Here’s a video from his days with Joe Cocker from the “Mad Dogs and Englishmen” era:

Here’s one of his hits:

RIP….Sad smile

Update: I think I would selling Leon Russell and Joe Cocker short, if I did not include this clip here. It wasn’t just a rock concert, it was a religious experience, watching these two masters of their crafts at work. Not to mention the talent of all the people on that stage in that era. Looking at this video is a peek into a different time and different world. Enjoy the video:

Joe Walsh can go to hell

Yeah, I really, really liked Joe Walsh, until I saw this here.

Via CNN:

(CNN)For the Eagles’ Joe Walsh, the show must not go on.

The musician pulled out of a concert scheduled for July 18 in Cleveland, Ohio, after he said he learned of the show’s ties to the Republican National Convention.

“It was my understanding that I was playing a concert which was a nonpartisan event to benefit the families of American veterans on Monday, July 18 in Cleveland,” Walsh said in a statement he released Wednesday. “Today it was announced that this event is, in fact, a launch for the Republican National Convention.”

Walsh said he also discovered that his name would be used “to raise sponsorship dollars for convention-related purposes” and therefore he felt forced to withdraw from the event.

“I am very concerned about the rampant vitriol, fear-mongering and bullying coming from the current Republican campaigns,” Walsh said. “It is both isolationist and spiteful. I cannot in good conscience endorse the Republican party in any way.”

I thought Joe loved America. I guess not, needless to say, I’m done with him and his music. See ya Joe, thanks for the fish.

Special Comment: On Cheryl Tiegs insult towards plus model Ashley Graham

This is about as snobbish and tone-deaf as one person can be.

The Story with video Via E!-Online: (H/T to WeSmirch) (More Sources here)

Cheryl Tiegs isn’t happy with Sports Illustrated.

The magazine released three different covers for its annual Swimsuit Issue, featuring Ronda Rousey, Ashley Graham and Hailey Clauson. “It’s a nod to female empowerment,” a source told E! News of the publication’s decision to change up its routine.

But Tiegs, who has been featured on Sports Illustrated‘s covers multiple times, doesn’t agree with the magazine’s choice to feature Graham. Tiegs opened up to E! News Wednesday at the 13th Annual Global Green USA Pre-Oscar Party and said she felt the magazine was promoting an unhealthy lifestyle by featuring her.

“I don’t like that we’re talking about full-figured women because it’s glamorizing them because your waist should be smaller than 35 [inches]. That’s what Dr. Oz said, and I’m sticking to it,” she explained. “No, I don’t think it’s healthy. Her face is beautiful. Beautiful. But I don’t think it’s healthy in the long run.”

Graham, who has said in the past that she hates to be called “plus-size,” was one of Sports Illustrated‘s “rookies” this year and was thrilled to be part of it. On her cover she wears a skimpy purple and yellow-string bikini while posing in the ocean. “I’ve got plenty of friends [of all sizes] and different shapes and everything,” she recently told E! News. “And I don’t want any of them to feel like they aren’t ‘real women.'”

Tell me again, who is the one that needs help with her looks?
Tell me again, who is the one that needs help with her looks?

This subject is a personal one with me; so much in fact, that I have taken the time to fire up Microsoft Word to write my response to it. Things are, as the young people of today like to say; about to get real.

My outrage at this most callous and tone-deaf of comments about those who struggle with weight issues, at this point is a mild boil and I feel the need to respond to this tone-deaf, snotty, self-important woman. I would call her a bitch; but that would be an insult to every female dog on the planet.

Cheryl Tiegs in one breathless moment in a press gaggle line has done something that most people would not even remotely think about doing. She insulted every person out there that struggles with weight gain. It is a subject that I know personally too well about. I was not always this way; my weight gain started when I was about 16. I remember the feeling of going out into public, feeling self-conscience, whether people were looking at me and thinking something horrible about my weight gain. It is, as most of those know, that struggle with such things, one of the worst things that one could have to endure.

Weight gain runs in my family. All of my people are heavy. Luckily, my Maternal Grandfather was not a heavy man. He, lucky for him, was a tall thin man. His wife, my grandmother, was not. She was a short heavy woman or full-figured as they call it now. She was not morbidly obese; but she was a full figured woman. In other words, she had some meat on her bones and was not some anorexic looking twig.

The point I am making is this; Mrs. Cheryl Tiegs ought to know better. However, because of her snobbish mentality against those who are not a perfect figured person, or, at least what she considers to be perfect; she felt the need to slam those who are not of the anorexia nervosa build.

Of course, this points to broader problem in Hollywood and in the media in general. Looks and more specifically a woman’s look are scrutinized to the point of total and utter ridiculousness. This is a reflection of society in general and gives much insight into the fickleness of the ever so coveted “popular crowd.”

As a parting shot, let me just this: Those who are in dire need of a Botox treatment session and those, of whom looks are fading faster than a 1970’s Kodiak picture moment, should not be going around being critical of someone’s looks.

So, to Mrs. Cheryl Tiegs I say this: You really should not be casting stones, as your glass house — it has cracks.

Justice? Detroit Drug Dealer and FBI informant “White Boy Rick” to be resentenced

This is an interesting development.

Via The Detroit Free Press:

Richard Wershe Jr.— known as White Boy Rick — wore European suits and had a full head of hair when he gained notoriety as a teenage drug dealer in the 1980s.

In a Detroit courtroom today, the now bald 46-year-old had on green jail garb when he learned he will be resentenced for a drug crime committed at age 17, which could lead to his freedom.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Dana Hathaway issued the ruling and said her decision was based on case law related to juveniles and the evolution of penalties for drug crimes.

Wershe was quiet and stoic during the 5-minute hearing in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice attended by friends and family, including his mother and 27-year-old son. About a dozen reporters and several photographers also gathered in the courtroom.

Wershe was convicted of possession with intent to deliver more than 650 grams of cocaine in 1988 and has spent the last 27 years in prison. Authorities said Wershe had eight kilos of high-grade powered cocaine worth about $5 million.

I remember when this man’s trial and sentencing happened back in the 1980’s. I never knew him personally, as he lived on the other side of town from me. However, I remember the buzz in the local media. There is alot more to Rick’s story, to put you up to speed, here are a few videos on the subject:

For some context, watch these:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10SprwE0qmM

As you can see, Rick was used by the feds and then left in jail to rot. 😡

The truth is, that if Rick were a black man, he would already be out of jail. However, because Rick is a white man and because he happens to know a good deal about the corrupt workings of the Detroit police and the political elite class in Detroit and the federal government’s so called “war on drugs,”  the feds want him to stay behind bars.

Here is hoping that Rick finally gets some justice in his very sad case.

Sadie Robertson loses to a no-talent black man on Dancing with the Stars

So, Sadie loses because she is a moral Christian white girl and they give it to a no talent jackass, who’s biggest accomplishment was being the fresh prince’s rich sidekick? Nice, real nice. The thugs in Ferguson won this one. …and they wonder why I loathe black people? I’m just saying. 😡

The video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tb5u2Q7Cwg

Sadie was, as always, unlike the black thugs in Ferguson, a class act. Sadie Robertson will one day go on to be something great and will be an awesome wife and mother to a very lucky man. As for the free prince sidekick; he will be what he is now, a has-been actor that was really only known for one good show. Lord knows, he has milked that little gravy train for all it is worth.

(Via IJReview)

Update: Also too: Before anyone says it, I know good and well what I wrote here. This guy was an elected official. I’m not, I am a writer, there’s a difference. Besides all that considering what happened to my cousin in 1994; blacks should be glad I am not out murdering them at random, if it were not for Jesus, I would be. 😡

Rockford Files Star James Garner dead at 86

I used to love watching that show’s reruns on TV.

LOS ANGELES –  Actor James Garner, whose whimsical style in the 1950s TV Western “Maverick” led to a stellar career in TV and films such as “The Rockford Files” and his Oscar-nominated “Murphy’s Romance,” has died, police said. He was 86.

He was found dead of natural causes at his home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles Saturday evening, Los Angeles police officer Alonzo Iniquez said early Sunday.

Police responded to a call around 8 p.m. PDT and confirmed Garner’s identity from family members, Iniquez told The Associated Press.

There was no immediate word on a more specific cause of death. Garner had suffered a stroke in May 2008, just weeks after his 80th birthday

Theme music from the Rockford Files:

Rest in Peace James, thanks for the childhood memories. 🙂

Tammy Bruce to the view?

Now this would be very interesting….:

The best way on TV to shut up a loudmouth is with another loudmouth.  I’ve learned that Tea Party advocate Tammy Bruce – the outspoken nationally syndicated radio show host, author, and Fox News talking head – is being considered for a hosting slot on The View as the so-called “anti-Rosie”. What makes this especially interesting is that Bruce reportedly was suggested to the show by Sarah Palin. “I don’t think Sarah Palin is being considered to be a panelist on the show. I think she’s working behind the scenes to help them cast the conservative,” an insider tells me. “Tammy and Palin are close friends, and I think they are hot on Tammy because of Palin. They want the show to be politically combative, and Tammy would certainly be the anti-Rosie in every possible way.”

Bruce’s website describes her as a “gay, pro-choice, gun-owning, pro-death penalty Tea Party Independent conservative”. I’m told Bruce just had a meeting with ABC about potentially joining the show. She has been a talking head at Fox News for over a decade now “but she was surprised that ABC had interest in her for The View, considering she’s only been booked on the show as a guest once. And she doesn’t have an agent that was pushing her. They literally just called out of the blue. She says the meeting went well.”

For those who do not know; Nikki Finke (or, as I like to call her; Nikki Rat Finke Rinky Dinky 😉 ) is an industrial insider. If it’s TV or Movie related, she knows about it. So, this could very well be true. Needless to say, it would make for some very good television.
