Mr. Silver, Nothing is wrong with Michigan, thank you very much

I wasn’t going to Blog today. But there’s just too much being said, that requires my opinion here.

Liberal Blogger and Obama-bot, Nate Silver asks, What’s the Matter with Michigan?

Democrats have grown accustomed to winning Michigan by relatively comfortable margins. Bill Clinton flipped the state in 1992, bringing home the Reagan Democrats and giving the party its first win in the state since 1968. Clinton’s margin grew to 13 points in 1996–five points better than his national popular vote margin against Bob Dole–and he successfully passed the torch to both Al Gore and John Kerry, each of whom also finished 5-6 points ahead of their national margins in the state. The Tipping-Point States But Barack Obama has had trouble getting traction in the Wolverine State. Although nearly all polling since the Democrats resolved the state’s messy delegate situation in June has had him ahead, it has often been by uncomfortably small margins–just one point, for instance, in a Public Policy Polling survey released on Monday. For most of the election cycle, Michigan has polled no more than 1-3 points ahead of Obama’s national poll standing, placing it well within the range of a potential Republican takeover. All of this comes in spite of a seemingly favorable environment for the Democrats. Michigan, its fortunes still tied to the struggling domestic auto industry, has the nation’s highest unemployment rate at 8.5 percent. Its population is 14 percent African-American, among the highest figures outside of the South. And it has two huge university towns in East Lansing and Ann Arbor, potential ground zeroes for youth voter enthusiasm. Why, then, have Obama’s numbers been sluggish in Michigan?

Well, where do I start? As a former “Left of Center”, and someone who has had contact within the African-American community, I feel I am most qualified to answer this.

  1. Obama is not authentic. – Most African-Americans that I have spoken with, especially among the older African-Americans, they view him as an “Uncle-Tom”. Someone who has sold out to the White Community. They also feel that the only reason that the Democratic Party has chosen him, is to appeal to “White Guilt”. or another way of putting it, would be to say that, the only reason he was chosen, is because he would appeal to a segment of White America.
  2. Obama is too controversial. – Yes, the Jeremiah Wright scandal is still lingering around here. Most African-Americans feel that Jeremiah Wright unfairly smeared the Black Community. In fact, one person told me, that “We don’t all feel that way about America or White people”. That whole “Chickens coming home to roost” thing, was a bit much for many blacks in this area.
  3. Obama is unknown – Most African-Americans that I know, really do not know anything about him, at all. I mean, one person I know, told me, “A couple years ago, nobody knew anything about this man.”  This is not to infer that black believe that he is a Muslim. None of the people that I have encountered, have ever said that he is a Muslim. In fact, some have brought up that it really infuriated them, that many within White Conservative America were repeatedly inferring that Obama was a Muslim, because of his middle name.
  4. Obama is inexperienced – One African-American that I spoke with on this, asked me, “What has he done?” I proceeded to tell him, that he was a State Senator and then a US Senator, he asked me, “Well, what else?” I then told him, that he was a community organizer. He simply said this, “That’s not enough for me.” – So, based upon this, I am assuming that the African-America Community wants an more experienced leader.
  5. Fear of assassination – As much as I hate to bring this topic up, It has been, I am very much ashamed to admit, brought up by those I’ve spoken to. It is pretty much an unspoken thing among the African-American Community. One African-American man I talked to simply said, “He’ll do great….if they don’t get him.” -I really did not want to press to see as to whom, “They” was even referring to. It is very hard to communicate in words the look in that mans eyes, his expression, he was an older man, in his 60’s. I know what he lived through, what he experienced — The Kennedy’s Assassinations, Martin Luther King Jr. – All of that seemed to be what he was referring to. I guess some feel that it could happen again, and that is most likely why they’re not willing to look to another leader again.

I write this, not as a Conservative Blogger, or a “Right of Center” with an axe to grind. I write this as a citizen of the State of Michigan, a resident of Detroit area. Someone who grew up here. Someone who has spoken and interacted with the people here, in my many years of being here. As someone who used to work in and around the downtown Detroit area, as a delivery man. As someone who has driven in the area, where the 1967 riots took place. As someone who has watched this area change. Some for the good, and some, quite frankly, for the bad.  I spoken with and interacted with the people, you can see the scars of the past. You see it in the city. A city which elected it’s first black Mayor, who promised great changes in the city, only to find that he was just as corrupt as the white city officials who used to run the city before him.

A city that after 7 terms in office was able to get rid of that corrupt Mayor and put in a new one. Only to find that was nothing more than an “Uncle Tom”. Then, a ray of hope and promise, a young mayor, someone who could connect with the city.  He started out well, but, he too, fell into that cesspool of corruption.

I guess the best thing to say about this is, people in Detroit and yes here in the rest of Michigan are just cynical, we see this young guy out of Chicago, a Democrat, talking hope and change, and we just sit here and say ourselves. “Now, where have we heard that before?”

The Scandal Has Ended

The scandal has finally ended. Detroit’s national nightmare is finally over. Detroit’s mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has finally resigned his office. This scandal which started as a rumor in 2002, developed into a nightmare for the state of Michigan and for the city of Detroit. The city of Detroit has had to suffer from this nightmare for the last seven years. It seemed that Kwame Kilpatrick thought that he actually lived above the law. However, a sobering reality settled in today, and that reality is that no one in the city of Detroit is above the law, not even the Mayor.

It seemed that Detroit’s Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick seemed to think that he was under some sort of messianic premonition to be the mayor of the city of Detroit. It was with this premonition that Kwame Kilpatrick seemed to believe that he was above the law. Confidentially, some believe that this premonition was nothing more than a delusion, but I digress.

I have to wonder though, if my readers will allow me to play the race card, if Kwame Kilpatrick had been a white man how long would he have been in office or how long would it be until he would been prosecuted? However, I am not one to dwell on such matters. This entire administration as well as the history of the city of Detroit, is a perfect example of the abject failure of socialism in America. The Democratic Party says that socialism is the cure to all of America’s ills.  Obviously, Detroit is a perfect example that that is nothing more than an ill-conceived lie. In fact, at one time Detroit was an oasis of industrialism. However, in the 1950’s, the city of Detroit made a very foolish mistake, Detroit decided to cast aside all other forms of industrialism except for the automotive industry. That proved to be a fatal mistake. Because as we all know, the automotive industry is on the skids. Some would blame the unions for this; however, I feel that that is nothing more than scapegoating, because if one looks at the history of the automotive industry in Detroit, one will know that it was due to arrogance on the part of the manufacturers.

Corruption is nothing new in the city of Detroit; corruption goes back as far as the Mayor Coleman A. Young Administration. Possibly further than that, but that’s further than the scope of this editorial. The difference is, Mayor Coleman young was a lot slicker about it, and he just never was caught. Not to mention, he did not have a blackberry, things like that did not exist in his day.

It is my hope and yes, possibly a prayer of mine, that the city of Detroit can get back on track and go back to just being normal, without all the scandal and all the headlines and just go back to being a city again. Because God knows, we really do not need any more negative publicity here. We have suffered enough I believe and I believe we have learned our lesson. That lesson is that you do not elect a mayor based upon popularity, but rather based upon his ability to lead the city. It is a lesson that the Democratic Party is about to learn the hard way with Barack Obama. While Barack Obama does offer a great message of hope, the reality is the man lacks the experience to lead the country, not to mention he has some questionable ties in the city of Chicago.

I, for one, am glad that this scandal is finally been put to rest, and I surely hope that that city of Detroit can move beyond this.

Local News: Kangaroo Court in Progress

In the mood to watch a circus?

There’s one in progress. The hearing to remove Democratic Party member, Detroit’s Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick as Mayor of Detroit. The full background of this whole legal circus is available here, here and Here.

Want to see a good reason NOT to have a Black Democrat in the White House? Look no further than the city of Detroit. Yeah, I know. Raaaaaacist! 🙄

Here’s hoping that Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm does the right and proper thing and gets this clown monkey out of the office of mayor of Detroit. But, I will not hold my breath, because as we all know, Democrats don’t cross one another.

The Obama campaign was unavailable for comment.

Local News: Kilpatrick will stand trial for assault

Some good news out of Detroit, for a change… (No, not Hope, Change…)

Via The Detroit News: Kilpatrick will stand trial for alleged assault.

A Detroit judge bound Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick over to Wayne County Circuit Court for trial on assault charges Friday after a preliminary examination that lasted more than five hours.

Judge Ronald Giles of the 36th District Court made the ruling shortly before 2:30 p.m., saying it was clear Kilpatrick knew the man who approached his sister’s front door to serve a subpoena was a police officer and the contact between Kilpatrick and the officer was not accidental.

Friday’s development adds to a long list of legal woes the mayor is facing. His next court date on the assault charges is Aug. 22.

Here is hoping that they put that law breaking thug in jail where he belongs. I mean, what more shining example of why it does not pay to have a Democrat in office does one need? Anyone want to see a shining example of an abject failure of socialism in America? Look no further than the City of Detroit.

Detroit was once a fine city, that is, until the corrupt Democrat socialists took it over after the 1967 riots took place, which took place, because a police officer was just doing his job.

I am sure, there are going to be those who are going to look at this post and accuse me of being a racist bigot. All I can truly say is, look at the facts. When white men ruled the city of Detroit, it was in better shape, when when the White man left and the Negro man took over the city, it went into the toilet. That’s not racism, that’s fucking reality. Black people are attracted to Communist Socialism because in their so-called cause, that the Negro man is still oppressed. I got news for them, the Negro man has not been in chains for 300 years. But based upon what I have seen with Detroit here in the last few months, some of them should still be in chains, as far as I am conserned.

Some call that hate, I call it reality.

BREAKING NEWS: Detroit's Democrat Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick sent to JAIL!

Breaking News in Detroit!

There is justice in the City of Detroit! Major Kwame Kilpatrick will SPEND THE NIGHT IN JAIL, or stay possibly longer. His Lawyers are going to see a judge at 9:00 A.M. to attempt to appeal the ruling.

Via WXYZ-TV:

Judge Ronald Giles has ordered Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick into Wayne County Jail for violating his bond.

The mayor violated his bond when he went to Canada July 23 without informing the court, a condition of his bond. The judge also pointed out that the mayor had to make many calls and arrangements for his trip to Canada and could have easily called the court to alert it of the trip.

The 36th District Court judge stressed that he was treating Detroit’s mayor in the same way he would “John Sixpack.”

The Judge also withdrew the drug screening since the mayor took four tests and all came back clean.

It is not clear how long the mayor will be in jail since the judge revoked his bond.

Judge Giles also revoked the mayor’s ability to travel.

Kudo’s to the judge that did this, his name is Judge Ronald Giles and he is the best!

A Local Historical Baseball landmark is being demolished

A Local Detroit landmark is being torn down in this great city.

Historical Tiger Stadium, will be, in a matter of days, nothing more than a memory.

Video: (via the Detroit Free Press)

I can honestly say, I never went to that old ballpark. I guess I just never had the chance. My cousins even went once, on a school trip. But I never made it. Sometimes, I wonder if going would have been better for me. But, that’s all a little late now. The Detroit Tigers are now using Comerica Park, a place that any baseball fan, who’s worth his salt, will tell you, that it lacks the grandeur of the old ballpark.

I guess some things in this city do change. I was really hoping that they would be able to keep that old ballpark, but alas, it is not to happen. 🙁

I could tell you about memories, involving that park. When the Detroit Tigers won the world series in 1984, I could hear the crowd cheering all the way at my house in Southwest Detroit. I was upstairs, studying, that summer, I had work to do, because I didn’t do so hot in school that year. Ever try studying, when half of your city is going crazy? Twas not fun.

Anyhow, it is really sad to see that old stadium go. I shall always remember her.
