Culture11 is shutting down

Some sad news, a start up Blog/Political site is going south…:

Sometimes there are simple stories. Culture11’s is one of them. We raised a certain amount of money last year predicated on the assumption we would raise more money last year. Then the Fall’s fall occurred and we stretched money as long and far as we could without incurring any debts. With no new money in the door the board decided the most prudent thing to do was suspend business operations. That is a way too technical way of saying that there are now 14 people who worked very hard for this company who are looking for new jobs because theirs disappeared. These people do not deserve to be out of jobs and yet they are. The economy racks up more victims.

A friend reminded me that Orson Welles once said that if you want a happy ending, it depends on where you choose to stop your story. This then isn’t the end – we are proud of the articles we commissioned, edited, and wrote, the blogs that we posted, the conversations we joined and sometimes started and the platform we created. Our hope is that we will be able to keep it alive and that we might continue to be a center for conversation, debate, and community. In that sense more than ever we turn Culture11 over to you.

via The Confabulum – The Fate of Culture11.

This is why I would never do a start up job. There’s just always that risk involved. Just more proof that the Economy is in terrible shape.

Wish all the guys who got let go, all the best in these tough times.

I just wonder why they haven’t tried a fund raiser?

From the "Awesomeness" Stack

Earlier today, I received a tweet from John Hawkings over at Right Wing News. Which pointed to a posting over on his Blog. John Hawkings also runs the Conservative Ads over on BlogAds; which you can get great ad prices over there, might want to check that out.

Anyhow, there was this e-mail that John was talking about, that I guess he saw over at DailyKos, that was attributed a Michael Crowley , however Mr. Crowley says he did not write it, but just the same, the posting is quite awesome.

Check it out:

Is President Obama trying to play the far right?

It is to wonder….

As special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell heads off to the region to begin work on negotiating a cease fire between Israel and the Palestinians, President Obama has sat for his first formal TV interview with the Arabic cable TV network Al-Arabiya, ABC News has learned.

The interview was taped this evening and is set to air at 11 pm ET, as Mitchell is in the air and on his way to the region.

Based in Dubai, Al-Arabiya estimates that it has a potential audience exceeding 23 million in the Gulf region.

via Political Punch: President Obama Does First Formal TV Interview as President with Al-Arabiya.

I have a theory about this and looking around at the Blogosphere, I can see that my theory might be correct.

I will simply say this, I have a theory that President Obama might be just trying to play the far right and the main stream conservative media for a fiddle. Because if you click the links that I just pointed to, you will see where the far right is basically flipping their collective cork over Obama going to Al-Arabiya for his first interview.

The reason why I say this is because it seems like just about every other day, President Obama says or does something that causes the far “rabid” right, as they are so called by the Liberal left; to basically go totally insane. Which makes the far right do a collective group jump up and down session, while frothing at the mouth and screaming, “He’s a terrorist! He is an Al-Qaeda Plant! He is going to destroy us all!” For perfect examples of this, click here and here. (The second link being more rabid than the first, if I do say so myself.)

To be clear, I do believe that Conservatives should be the loyal opposition and likewise criticize him for anything he does that goes against what true Conservative principles. But have a collective conniption fit over something as benign as this does nothing to further the cause of Conservatism.

Another Great Blog is going away

I hate reporting stuff like this; but I must.

It seems that another great Blog is leaving the ranks and going to join the main stream media.

Extreme Mortman is closing it’s doors forever. 🙁

I was not a regular reader, but I did stop in from time to time and read what he had to offer.

It is truly sad when a big name blog decides to cash in and leave. It leaves a hole in the Blogosphere, some will try and fill it, but seeing a Blogger, especially a Conservative Blogger; pack it in and move on, saddens me a bit.

I wish Howard Mortman all the best.

My Pledge to America

More like abject hypocrisy, if you ask me.

Check out this vomit inducing video, straight out of HollyWeird:

MySpace Celebrity and Katalyst present The Presidential Pledge

In an reaction, that can only described as a direct kick to the gonads of Hollywood; Andrew BreitBart lays the smack down to the Obama Bots and believe me, he does not mince words:

Forgive and forget? Right.

President Bush was not holding back Moore from “free[ing] one million people from slavery in the next five years.” Nor was he holding back the Obama-biquitous Will.I.Am from “chang[ing] how [he] live[s].” Ditto: Aaron Ekhart (”To be a better person,”) Marisa Tomei (”To integrate into my heart what I already know in my head which is that we are all in this together,”) Kutcher (”To the abolition to 21st century slavery,”) Anthony Kiedis (”To be of service to Barack Obama,”) P. Diddy (” pledge to turn the lights off, cause I used to leave the lights on but we want to conserve energy so I’ma turn the lights off, you turn the lights off,) and all-in-unison (”Because together we can, together we are, and together we will be the change that we seek.”)

Missing are pledges not to kiss the ring of Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and other pledged enemies of America. Nor are there pledges not to make movies that glorify these tyrants. Nor are there pledges to take seriously that we are at war, will continue to be at war under President Obama and that our precious and under-appreciated military is fighting an avowed and evil enemy — so that, among other things, Hollywood can continue to make decadent crap that actually motivates our enemy to fight us harder!

[…]

Remember this video: It is a instructive relic of the era of celebrity decadence and boutique anti-Republican activism under President Bush. It is a sickening display that they want fast and easy absolution for having comported themselves like ill-behaved children for eight difficult and war-torn years.

Good luck, President Obama. The rest of you can go to hell.

Having said all that, (Well, quoted… Hee hee) I will make my pledge; I pledge to use this Blog, to praise Obama when he does something that I agree with and likewise, I will use this Blog to criticize President Obama when he does something that I feel is detrimental to the Liberty of all Americans. I predict that many Conservatives will roll up the sidewalks and end up stop Blogging, because of the change of the political climate. Well, I will still be here; I do not care, if I ever make a dime on this Blog. I will not stop, I will not leave, I will continue to write, it does not matter if I have five thousand, five hundred readers, fifty readers or even five; I will not stop, because if I do, I would be doing the same thing, as if someone walked away from the attacks at Pearl Harbor and did nothing. Because I still believe in America, I still believe that dissent is the highest form of Patriotism.

While I did have and still do have, issue and reservations with Neo-Conservatism, and I do identify myself as a paleo or old Conservative, with a twist of Libertarianism; I do believe that Conservatism is an honorable strain of political thought, that the notion that the Government is not the solution to America’s problems. That mankind can be do by itself, without intervention of the United States Government. That the middle class of America still matters, and that American made products are the lifeblood of America and that uncontrolled globalism is dangerous to the survival of America and it’s people.

Likewise, I will continue to blog about the dangers of an interventionist foreign policy; I will continue to blog about the dangers of big government, I will continue to blog about the short comings and the out dangers of a socialist Government, and the way that socialist Governments repress and utterly steal the freedoms of all Americans. I will continue to blog about the dangers of printing more money that the United States has gold to back it up and how going back to the Gold standard is a valid idea and how the United States should pursue that more aggressively and what it will do to America, if we do not.

It is the least I can do for my Country.

Examples of what will get you banned from commenting on this Blog

It appears that some trolls have discovered my Blog, once again.

Well, this time, I am not enabling moderation. Instead, I am just going to fucking ban people from commenting here, who break the rules.

Here’s the examples of what will get you banned here:

Oh well, it doesn’t matter anyways, because in six months to a year, Obama will burn the constitution, take our guns, enact black Nationalism as the state religion

That is a whole lot of paranoid delusion wrapped up in one sentence.

I think you may need to get your meds adjusted. I think you’re having some kind of reaction.

You can see all comments on this post here:

He is, of course, referring to this posting here. Which was, a bit of snark and my political opinion.

Well, seeing it was more of a stupid troll comment, I deleted it. Besides, this is my Blog, I do not have to allow myself to be insulted by some anonymous assplow.

So, he comes back and leaves this:

You are a sensitive little twit, aren’t you, Patricia?

Censorship is closer to the Soviets and the Nazis that Obama.

If you are so firm in your beliefs, what are you afraid of?

No asshole. I have fucking rules here, you might want to go read them. Not that it will matter, I’ve added your IP address to the list of those not allowed to comment here.

Stupid fucking Liberal Moonbat Communist Assplows. 🙄

It’s going to be a long four to eight years.

Uh…..

Spotted over at Pamela Gillard’s Atlas Shrugs:

What the asshat elect does not understand is Bush is iconic for America. The flying shoe was directed at America – our man, our President – the choice (in the last clean election in American history).

Um, that is certainly debatable, even among libertarians…..Now who is the asshat? I think the answer is quite clear here.

No wonder this feckless bitch has been discredited among her own Conservative circles.

MSM Continues Their Assault on Bloggers

The Forth Estate continues it’s assault on citizen media, or as it is commonly known as; The Blogosphere.

It seems that Paul Mulshine of the Newark Star Ledger is coming out swinging against us. However, instead of sounding like a legit reporter, he comes off sounding more like grumpy old man, full of sour grapes.

Of course, Glenn Reynolds, the Conservative Blogosphere’s God Father is having none of it. Glenn Says something that I totally agree with here:

That, of course — as Mulshine should have known then, and now — is exactly what J.D. Johannes does — along with Michael Yon, Michael Totten, Bill Roggio, and others in the blogosphere. Mulshine, meanwhile, brags about having once covered the Toms River Regional Board of Education in New Jersey. That’s worthy work, of course, but if his reportage there was as poor as his work in the Wall Street Journal, then — oh, who am I kidding? “If”?

Anyway, it’s certainly true that bloggers as a class are more competition for careless pundits like Mulshine than for go-getter reporters who find out things that people don’t know, and report them truthfully. It’s also true that those go-getter reporters who put the truth first are pretty scarce in the world of Big Media reporting, and that management shows no sign of wanting more of them, and many signs of wanting attitude-mongers like, well, Mulshine. This is, as I’ve noted before, a dumb business strategy, which explains in part why newspapers are doing so badly.

The awesome thing about the Blogosphere is this. We Bloggers; Yes, I do mean Conservative and Liberal, keep the press and Washington D.C. and dare I even say it? The White House honest. Gone are the days of the Nixon era, when you could pull the preverbal wool over the eyes of the American people. Bloggers are there, pointing out the half truths, lies and outright distortions.

Need I remind anyone, that it was the Liberal Blogosphere and the Libertarian and Paleo-Conservative Blogosphere, that basically pointed out the fact that George W. Bush was, quite frankly, full of crap, when he tried to say that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Something that the Republican Blogging world is still to acknowledge to this very day. Even after the White House is fully conceded that fact. This was well before the time that the Main Stream Media even tried to start questioning the tactics of the Bush Administration.

So, basically, either the Forth Estate can learn to work with us or die. But the way things are looking, they’d rather die first. This might just be a good thing.
