My full time job

I have taken a lot of grief for not having a full time job.

Allow me to introduce you to my full time job:

This is my Dad

He comes before any sort of trucking career or anything else.

Anyone that doesn’t understand that, can quite frankly, kiss my ass.

That is all.

Erick Erickson writes a good one

I woke this morning and saw this piece here from Erick Erickson and he is anti-trump, I get that. But, this is much more than that. The part, I really can relate to, is this here:

The last year has reminded me that life is not fair, but God really is in the trenches with us. It reminds me of 2 Samuel 7. David intended to build a temple for God. But God says he does not need one. He was perfectly fine living in a tent, wandering a desert with his people. Our tent dwelling God wants a personal relationship with us. And frankly, after this past year, I crave that relationship more than any relationship with a politician, fan, or friend.

My time here is fleeting. So is yours. There’s no reason to hold on to grievances, no reason to avoid forgiveness, and no reason to devote our time to wasted idols. We are not all going to agree all the time on right and wrong. But life is too short not to show each other grace freely and move on.

This past year, I have recognized something important. The people who have turned politics into their god are the most miserable, malcontented people I know. Not everything is political and when you think it is, you have turned politics into religion. Life is not supposed to be political and death coming to visit me showed me how much more to life there is.

I can relate. When my Dad was on that ventilator and I didn’t know if I would ever see him alive again or now; my outlook changed and this blog, took a backseat, as did politics.

I wish Erick the best.

Good job old man

You know, there’s a lot of things that happened between me and this blogger that I’m about to link to a couple of years back; and I must admit I wasn’t too happy about how all that went down.

Many things can be said about him, none of which I’m not going to print here; because personally I don’t know the man’s heart at all.

But, there is one thing you can not say about him at all — And that’s that he does not have his family life, down to an exact science. Because in my book any man who steps up to the plate and takes on the challenge of fatherhood and decides to build a family; is a bigger man, than any pop star, baseball player, movie star, rock and roll musician or anything like that.

Mr. McCain you’ve done one hell of a good job and I God bless you for it. 🙂

I just wish things between you and me had worked out on better terms than what they did and I wish we would have been able to meet each other before the neocons got involved.

Reply to John’s E-Mail

The Video:

Today, I received an email from a “John” asking the following:

Hello Fellow Christian,
My name is John and I have a mom who is a confessing Christian who loves to talk about the lord and give advice but she is in adultery. Me and my wife brought up the scriptures to her and pray daily but nothing. I felt moved to talk with you because I was reading one of your blogs on Pastor Charles Stanley who y mom attends his church. My question is, should we continue to keep her in our lives or cut her off? We have children and I do not want this to have an affect on their Christian life. Anything will be great. Thank You.

Now, I sent the man a reply and the email address bounced; so, I will post the reply here:

Hi John,

That’s a tough call.

First off, I would talk to YOUR Pastor and ask HIM for guidance.

Now, personally, I think that totally cutting your children off from their grandmother, is not a good idea. I would however, limit their interaction and time spent with her; and I would be always there to supervise visits.

Now, you can totally cut her off, after all the Bible does say:

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. – (2 Corinthians 6:14-18 KJV)

and…:

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery – (Matthew 5:27-32 KJV)

And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. – (Mark 9:43-48 KJV)
and:

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. – (Matthew 10:32-38 KJV)

—————-

Now, here is the harsh, brutally honest, cold dish rag in the face, honest truth — advice that I will give you:

If you wish to take the hard stance and stand for what you know to be right and decide to separate yourself from those, that you know to be committing sin; you had better be very prepared to deal with the fallout or consequences. No man or woman, who has decided to take harsh stance and decided to cut off all communication, fellowship and interaction like this; has had it easy. In fact, it can cause you many, many, headaches.

Now, I am not saying that you should not do it. You just should be very prepared for what the fallout might be.

I will be praying for you, that the Lord would give you Godly wisdom in this situation

I hope sees this reply. 🙂

Why I haven’t been blogging

This is one of those blog postings that I’ve meant to write for a while.

My friends I’m simply going to be honest with you. I have quite frankly gotten bored with politics. Back in 2006, when I started blogging, President George W Bush was in the White House, the Iraq war was in full swing which I was totally against and the Democrats and basically the progressive left was against it. There was a reason for my writing.

Well, needless to say my reasons for writing have basically evaporated. Not to mention that blogging has gotten a bit more partisan than it used to be. And also too, there was a bit more sense of community among the bloggers, people helped each other out.

Nowadays, it seems like the blog and Community has become partisan and basically an ego trip contest to see whose ego is the biggest. One thing I can honestly tell you about this blogging thing,  it was never about me or my ego or who I am or anything like that. I was simply a voice for those who either didn’t have time or didn’t have the ability to write about what they were feeling.

Now, about Trump, I can honestly say that he does have good ideas on three issues:

1. Free trade: let’s just be real folks globalism is killing America and I would like to see that reined-in, in a big way. The amount of imports in this country from China, from Japan and from other places is, killing our manufacturing base in this country. I think if Donald Trump could do something with these free trade agreements to make them more favorable for the United States of America that would be great.

2. Illegal immigration: let’s just be real folks our Southern border is wide open. I believe that if Donald Trump could do something about the illegal immigration problem in this country; such as enforce the laws that are already on the books and have ICE agents carry out that enforcement, like they’re supposed to then maybe something could be done.

3. Foreign policy: let’s just be real folks the Cold War is Over. And I think it’s about time that someone like Donald Trump has went through our foreign policy commitments and told these countries that the Cold War is Over and that we should not be providing protection to these people for free anymore. Furthermore, I think Donald Trump should realign our foreign policy to protecting America First and not getting it involved in matters that are not of our concern. The solution to terrorism is full-scale bombing operations and wiping out these terrorist cells and that can be done without boots on the ground you’d be amazed what a 80,000 ton bomb can do to a terrorist headquarters. I simply do not believe that Donald Trump believes in prolonged conflict like what we had in Iraq. Furthermore I believe that Donald Trump would stand up to the neoconservative Hawks in the Republican Party and would tell them, no, we’re not going to do what you want, we’re going to put America first.

That’s the good things about Donald Trump. Now, here’s what I don’t like about him. The fact is folks Donald Trump tends to be a bit of a loose cannon. Donald Trump also has a problem with bashing women; to the point where even as a guy, it bothers me.

Another thing that kind of bothers me too and I know this is probably going to make me get some static from people who actually read this blog and that is this:

Folks let’s just be real:  Donald Trump is a very wealthy man. I have a sneaky suspicion that Donald Trump is going to try to use his wealth and his business connections to try to Curry favor with those who are perceived as enemies of America. This my friends is extremely problematic and could pose a problem for the United States of America. Not to mention the Office of the President of the United States. It would also put Congress in a very precarious position.

One of the main reasons why I stopped writing is because the partisanship and blogging has turned quite frankly into rancid rancor and I simply don’t believe that blogging was never intended to be like that. I never played the partisan game very well at all. I’m all for convictions and vision for what America should be and all that good stuff, but political partisanship or loyalty to a party was never my bag at all. Both of these parties are two sides of the same coin anymore and that coin is basically special interest and Corruption. You know One hand washes the other. I have a sneaking suspicion that Donald Trump would play that game to the hilt and I believe sometimes it would not be in America’s best interest.

So as far as who I’m voting for; at this stage in the game I have no earthly idea who I’m going to vote for it certainly isn’t going to be the Democrats or Hillary Clinton. Now as far as who I would vote for I think it depends on how things are come election day. Outside of what happened with Amanda Carpenter, I really don’t see anything that would stop me from voting for Donald Trump at this point. I would like to see him tone things down a bit and become a bit more presidential or stately, but knowing Donald Trump I don’t think that’s going to happen at all.

So, at this point Ladies and Gentlemen, this is where I’m at. I’ve lost the motivation to write about politics. But, not what I feel to be wrong morally. So, I’m not going to just disappear. I’m just not going to be writing about the headlines as much. I’m not going away, I’m just going to be a bit more selective about what I write about on this blog and what I care to spend time on.

I’m also considering going back and trying to get on with another trucking company maybe take another refresher course if I can get a place that offer it and go back to work driving truck.

I’ve spent a lot of time on YouTube watching Trucking video blogs which are very awesome by the way. If by chance I decided to go back out and drive again and finally am able to go solo in a truck I might start a video blog series on what I do. I’m undecided whether I am going to post those videos here or start a trucking blog and post them there. I’d really like to get back to work because sitting around here has gotten beyond boring.

Another issue that has distracted me away from this blog is my dad’s health. My dad is suffering with a bulged disc in his back and this is a different one from the one he had before back when I tried to go on with Celadon. This one’s in a totally different spot on his back and it is been hurting him bad in fact just earlier here we had a little issue with him when he was in the bathroom and we like to have never gotten him out of there he’s now on the couch with a pillow behind his back in a wet wash cloth on his head and he is trying to get the pain to ease off. So now I’m having to deal with that and that’s one of the reasons why I haven’t just jump back out on the road to drive truck. With this man, that being me, family comes first and trucking career and blogging come second.

I hope you all understand and I hope you all don’t give up on me as a blogger. But right now, life is taking precedence over this blog.

Thanks for reading,

Charles Patrick Adkins

In Memoriam: Beryl Frazier – 1950-2015

Buryl Frazier and her husband Walter
Beryl Frazier and her husband Walter

Yesterday, I had to do something that I am really not a big fan of; I had to go to a Funeral. It was for, however, a very special Lady. Her name was Beryl Frazier. Beryl Frazer was born Beryl Wingo in 1950. She was born in Alabama. Beryl’s family had special connection to mine, in more ways than one.

Back in the late 1950’s when my Mom was a little girl; my grandparents were looking for a place to live here in Detroit. My grandfather, Mr. Hayes worked at the Clark Street Cadillac plant in Detroit. My grandfather happened to know Mr. Wingo. Somehow or another, my grandfather got hooked up with Mr. Wingo and my grandparents ended up renting out the upstairs of the Wingo family’s house.

The other half of is separate story in itself. Walter Frazier was basically responsible for bringing my Father from Middlesboro, Kentucky to Detroit in 1967 to find a job here; back when you could actually still do such things. My Dad, his brother and Walter had an apartment together in those first years when they moved up here. I will always be grateful to Walter for doing that; otherwise, I would not be here, typing this little story out! 😀

Well, Walter got a job working at Clark Street and I guess he met Mr. Wingo there and that’s where he learned about Beryl. They met and married and somewhere along the line, my Mom met Walter and was shocked to see that Walter had married someone who my Mother knew from her younger years! 😀

Now about Beryl — I am simply going to put and paste something that I wrote on my Cousin Pam’s facebook posting in the comments section:

Beryl Frasier was the happiest woman I ever met. I never ever saw that woman angry or with a frown on her face. she had a joy but only Jesus can truly give.

I don’t mean to preach or get all religious sounding in here, Because I kn
ow some people don’t appreciate that. But that woman was a woman of faith and she knew who her God was and she knew where she was going when her time ended here on this earth and that’s why she was always happy.

She is in the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ and in His Heavenly kingdom and one day when my time here is over, I will join her there.

This is because of a decision that I made on June 7, 1982 at the age of 9 years old in the auditorium of open door Baptist Church and that’s when I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and started the journey of making him the Lord of my life.

And that’s a fact jack!

Rest in peace sweet Lady, because the Lord knows you definitely earned every last minute of it.

Amen.

Happy 45’th to my Mom and Dad!

I posted this originally over on facebook.

It was on this day in 1969, that Charlie Adkins and Linda Adkins, who had met in Clark Park in May of 1968, decided that they couldn’t live without one another any longer; and Daddy decided to put a ring on her and call her his wife. Happy 45’th you two. That is one hell of an accomplishment.

In 1972, I came along and must say, You two did well. Happy Anniversary you guys. May the rest of your Days be Happy, Happy, Happy!

Needless to say, Mom is still the one with my Daddy!
