The Saturday Night Music Express Presents: Jimi Hendrix

I have made it no secret on this blog and my old one; that I am, in fact, a die-hard Jimi Hendrix fan. A good part of who and what I am today is because of this man’s music. The biggest thing that I learned from Hendrix and his music was to never accept what is told to you. Always question everything; and believe you me, I do. šŸ™‚

Are you shocked? šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜Æ

This is from 1970. This Jimi live at the Isle of Wight Concert. This is the Movie Presentation of “Wild Blue Angel”.

Please note: If you have a nice sound system or headphones. This would be a good time to put it or them, on and turn it up. šŸ˜€

Jimi Hendrix, more than anything else — was the sound of 1960’s America. He set the bar and everyone else tried like heck to sound, look and play like him.

Enjoy the music and enjoy your weekend.

Say what? — Mike Tyson: ‘I want to sing and dance in musicals’

I do believe I have heard it all.

Former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson says he wants to “dance and sing” in musicals as his next challenge.

“I want to dance and sing. I want to do some dancing and singing musicals,” Tyson saids during a visit to Hong Kong when asked what he wanted to do with his life next.

The 46-year-old Hall of Fame boxer who served time in jail for rape and infamously bit off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear during a fight in 1997, said he now just wanted to “hang out and entertain”.

Now, at the risk of sounding like a “RAAAACIST” — this comes to mind, for some reason.

Joe South RIP

This is some seriously sad news and comes via The American Spectator Blog.

My Favorite song of his and the chorus of this song is timeless sounding…:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoznjbKVnmw

ATLANTA (AP) ā€” Singer-songwriter Joe South, who performed hits in the late 1960s and early 1970s such as ā€˜ā€˜Games People Playā€™ā€™ and ā€˜ā€˜Walk A Mile In My Shoesā€™ā€™ and also penned songs including ā€˜ā€˜Down in the Boondocksā€™ā€™ for other artists, died Wednesday, his music publisher said. South was 72.

South, whose real name was Joseph Souter, died at his home in Buford, Ga., northeast of Atlanta, according to Marion Merck of the Hall County Coronerā€™s office. Merck said South died after having a heart attack.

ā€˜ā€˜Heā€™s one of the greatest songwriters of all time,ā€™ā€™ said Butch Lowery, president of the Lowery Group, which published Southā€™s music. ā€˜ā€˜His songs have touched so many lives. Heā€™s such a wonderful guy and loved by many.ā€™ā€™

Lyrics to “Walk a mile in my shoes” and believe me; this should be a prayer for America.

If I could be you and you could be me for just one hour
If we could find a way to get inside each other’s mind
If you could see you through my eyes instead of your ego
I believe you’d be surprised to see that you’d been blind

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Yeah, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes

Well, your whole world you see around you is just a reflection
And the law of common says you’re gonna reap just what you sow

So unless you’ve lived a life of total perfection
Mm-mm, you’d better be careful of every stone that you should throw

Yet we spend the day throwin’ stones at one another
’cause I don’t think or wear my hair same way you do
Well, I may be common people but I’m your brother
And when you strike out and try to hurt me it’s a ‘hurtin you,

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Yeah, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes

There are people on reservations and out in the ghettos
And brother, there, but for the grace of God, go you and I

If I only had the wings of little angels don’tcha you know I’d fly
To the top of the mountain and then I’d cry?

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Hey, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Better walk a mile in my shoes

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Oh, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes,

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Hey, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes

Video: God Bless Dave Mustaine, Screw Huffington Post and Think Progress

For this here from Huffington Post:

Now, I shall let it known that I do not agree that the Government or Barack Obama; as I said before, staged the events. But, I will say this; I am glad to see that people like Dave Mustaine are waking up to the fact that the Government is not your friend and can only take from you.

Having said that, enjoy the music from Magadeth:

I just wish that someone could get the red-headed tool to run for President of the United States! Now that — would be awesome.

Christian Guitarist Phil Keaggy in hospital

Some sad news to report.

But first one of my favorite videos:

The story from various sources:

From WCTI-TV:

Craven County — The concert for two-times Grammy Nominated Phil Keaggy has been canceled at Temple Baptist Church.

According to Temple’s website, Keaggy was hospitalized due to complications from a recent surgery, after a brief performance last night.

Via House of Guardian: (H/T to Classic Petra on facebook)

Please pray for Phil Keaggy. He is in the ICU in North Carolina after hemorrhaging during a routine procedure. was operated on an hour ago.

Via Temple Baptist Church in New Bern, NC:

Phil Keaggy has been hospitalized due to complications from a recent colonoscopy. We regret that he is unable to be with us this weekend. The good news is, he will be fine. Please pray for him and help us get the word out. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, especially to those who have traveled to be here tonight for the concert.

I think it would be a good idea for everyone, who loves Keith’s music and Keith himself; to spend a little time in prayer for him.

The Sunday Night Music Express Presents: Lowkey

This comes from, of all places, The LRC Blog: (WARNING: Language!)

The Lyrics: (H/T to Rap Genius)

[Hook]

I donā€™t, I donā€™t want no, Obama, Obama nation (abomination)

Iā€™m not gonna, vote for your inauguration

Cause I donā€™t need your, Obama, Obama nation (abomination)

Iā€™m not gonna

Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist

Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didnā€™t say shit

[Verse 1 – M-1]

After you divorce yourself from the right wing

Propaganda campaign, itā€™s all simple and plain

America customed the game

Your president got an African name, now who you gone blame?

When they drop them bombs out of them planes

Using depleted uranium, babies looking like two headed aliens

Follow the money trail it leads to the criminal

Ainā€™t nothing subliminal to it, thatā€™s how they do it

See they game they run, give a fuck if heā€™s cunning

Articulate and handsome, Afghanistan held for ransom

By the hand of this black man, neo-colonial puppet

White power with a black face, he said fuck it iā€™ll do it

A master of disguise, expert at telling lies

Then they gave him a Nobel Peace Price

Should of known he was trained in Chicago

Word to Chairmen Fred and Mark Clark

What they do in the dark will come out in the light

Like a WikiLeaks site

So I guess Nkrumah was right, whoā€™s ready to fight?

Last stage of imperialism, I ainā€™t kiddin

In the immortal words of Marvin Gaye ā€˜This ainā€™t livingā€™

[Verse 2 – Black The Ripper]

O.B.A.M.A

You ainā€™t falling everyone I see the games you play

You was V.I.P. at the B.I.C

And we know thatā€™s code name for C.I.A

The same way your cameras are watching us weā€™re watching you

Think weā€™re easy to control you ainā€™t got a clue

Revolutions on the way, letā€™s see what your gonna do

You gonna send the troops? You gonna drop the nukes?

See itā€™s not where youā€™re from itā€™s where youā€™re at

Heā€™s sitting in the White House so who cares if heā€™s black

And whyā€™s there still soldiers out there in Iraq?

Natural resources ainā€™t yours, its theirs give it back!

Youā€™re just another puppet but Iā€™m not surprised

Look at Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice

They didnā€™t change shit, house niggaā€™s fresh off the slave ship

Youā€™ll all burn in hell even Michelle, Obama Nation

[Hook]

I donā€™t, I donā€™t want no, Obama, Obama nation (abomination)

Iā€™m not gonna, vote for your inauguration

Cause I donā€™t need your, Obama, Obama nation (abomination)

Iā€™m not gonna

Limbaugh was a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist

Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didnā€™t say shit

[Verse 3 – Lowkey]

Was the bigger threat from Osama or from Obama?

Military bases from Chagos to Okinawa

I say things that other rappers wonā€™t say

Cause my mind never closed like Guantanamo Bay

Hope you didnā€™t build a statue or tattoo you arm

Cause the drones are still flying over Pashtunistan

Did he defend the war? No! He extended more

He even had the time to attempt a coup in Ecuador

Morales and Chavez, the stateā€™s are on a hunt for ya

Military now stationed on bases in Columbia

Take a trip to the past and tell em I was right

Ask Ali Abunimah or Jeremiah Wright

Drones over Pakistan, Yemen and Libya

Is Obama the bomber getting ready for Syria?

First black president, the masses were hungry

But the same president just bombed an african country

I just wonder how long it will be, before this song and video disappear and the dudes who did it; are tossed in jail? I mean, because this a black President. Now, if it were Bush, they would say, “Oh, it’s art!” But Obama? I don’t think this will be around long at all.

The Late Night Music Express presents: The Doobie Brothers

This is a special memorial edition.  The Doobie Brothers have suffered a loss.

…and there are so many more, I would post them all. But this blog entry would go on for pages.

Anyhow, here’s the official news: (H/T The Detroit Free Press)

March 13,2012ā€”Sonoma CAā€”Longtime Doobie Brothers drummer Mike Hossack passed away peacefully yesterday March 12 at his home in Dubois, Wyoming after a long battle with cancer he was 65.  Doobie Brothers manager Bruce Cohn made the announcement. [PHOTOS]

ā€œMike was a one-of-a kind guy and a long-time member of the Doobie Brothers,ā€ remembers Cohn. ā€œHe was a fighter and fought the big battle with cancer and he was a close personal friend of mine and I speak for Mikeā€™s family and the entire band when I say he will be greatly missed.ā€

The Doobie Brothers Tom Johnston remembered Hossack, ā€œMike has always been a part of my musical life and the life of the Doobie Brothers; from our earliest singles, like China Grove and Blackwater to our most recent single Brighter Day.   He was an incredible musician, a studio quality drummer.  The last few years, he was brave and determined to keep on playing in the face of ill health, and I will always admire him for that.  He was a terrific dad and family man, and we will all miss him.ā€

The Doobieā€™s Pat Simmons, who was a close friend of Hossackā€™s, said, ā€œWhen my kids were little, they used to call him Big Mike, because to them he was such a big guy.  But to me and those who knew him, he had an even a bigger heart.  We were friends for 43 years and we shared some wonderful adventures together, times I will never forget.  Thanks for all those wonderful memories Mike, and all the great music. We love you.ā€

Michael Hossack was born in Paterson, New Jersey on October 17, 1946 (a real baby boomer). At age twelve Mike started playing drums in the Little Falls Cadets, a Boy Scout Drum and Bugle Corp. He credits his drum instructors, Joe Whelan (Little Falls Cadets), Bob Peterson (Our Lady of Lourdes Cadets), and George Tuttle (Fair Lawn Cadets) for teaching him the disciplines of playing with other drummers.

Thanks for the music Mike. Rest in peace. šŸ™ šŸ˜„

Prayers for the members and past members of The Doobie Brothers and The Hossack Family.
