Rand Paul calls it a day and goes home

Sad thing, but, I knew it was coming.

The Video is at CNN.

The Story via Politico:

Rand Paul dropped out of the 2016 president race on Wednesday, short on cash and support, two days after finishing with under 5 percent in the Iowa caucuses — less than one quarter of the support his father had drawn four years earlier.

The Kentucky senator, who pitched his libertarian-infused brand of conservatism as transformational for the Republican Party, will exit the national stage and instead run for reelection to the Senate. His moment in the 2016 campaign never materialized.

“Brushfires of Liberty were ignited, and those will carry on, as will I,” Paul said in a statement.

Paul told senior staff about his decision on Tuesday. Other staff were notified Tuesday evening and the entire Paul campaign was told via a conference call on Wednesday morning at about 8:45, according to a campaign source. In that call the Kentucky senator talked about smaller government, continuing his fight for “liberty” and the Fourth Amendment.

For months, Paul struggled to gain traction or garner attention in a race that has been dominated by Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. Paul hadn’t registered in double digits in any national poll since May, after he had led some surveys in 2014 and had been declared the “most interesting man” in Republican politics.

Paul had initially been viewed as a stronger contender than his father, former Rep. Ron Paul, who ran for president in 2008 and 2012 on a narrow libertarian appeal. The younger Paul had hope to build on the libertarian grassroots base that had poured tens of millions of dollars into the elder Paul’s campaigns and expand it to more mainstream Republicans.

In the end, he was able to do neither.

Rand Paul’s biggest problem is that he is not his Father and because of that hardcore Ron Paul supporters are leery of him. Paul also tended to flip-flop a bit. He also was very anti-trump and that did not help him one bit.

My thoughts on the Fox debate

Here are my thoughts on the Fox News debate tonight.

Please keep in mind that I am dictating this using voice to speech on my telephone. So, if the punctuation is bad or the wording sounds a little odd that is why.

Number 1: Donald Trump bombed, horribly. He came off as an arrogant a-hole. He attacked Meghan Kelly; he came off as a misogynist, aggressive  a-hole, who respected no one else on that stage except for himself.

That might play well with his hardcore supporters and it might play well with his business friends in New York City and around the world, but it will not play well with middle America and it will not play well with women voters at all.

Number 2: Jeb Bush look like a freaking nerd. He looked like the smart intelligent geeky kid at debate club. He supports common core although he claims he doesn’t, he just wants higher standards. But, he did not look presidential he looked like he was nervous and a bit out of his element on the debate stage. I predict that he will not fare well in the primary.

Number 3: The rest of them did rather well. I think the sparring of Chris Christie and Rand Paul paints a drastic difference between the libertarian wing and the national security/antiterrorism wing of the Republican Party. The voters in the primaries, will have to choose which side of that divide that they want to vote for. It should be interesting.

Number 4: Mike Huckabee looks like a Southern Baptist preacher talking about politics. Although I did admire his defense of Social Security. I did not however, appreciate Chris Christie’s comments about Social Security. It sounds to me like he wants to gut it and possibly stop it. He needs to be a bit more clear about that.

Number 5: The only candidate that really stood out to me during the 5 o’clock debate was Carly Florina. I very much appreciated her smart answers to the questions that she was presented especially the ones about Iran. She very much held her own, being a woman and I think that was admirable. She would really make a good vice president and probably a president after the second term of whoever wins but she runs with.

So there you have it,my impressions of the first debate of the Republicans in 2015. I’m hoping that after the first primary this field gets narrowed down. Right now there is much too many people and much of their messages are interchangeable, except for some finite details. hopefully the ones who vote in the primaries will select the best candidate.

One thing I will say as an independent conservative who’s not beholden to any particular party as a rule. I keep hearing these candidates saying that America is going down, America is in terrible shape, America is not a good place now; and all that I feel that is bad messaging myself personally.

I feel that what they should be saying is America still the greatest nation on earth. It just has poor leadership at the moment and we need to change that.

Yes, America has problems. Yes, America has leaders now we were out of touch with the rest of the world and with the people of America obviously. But to say that America is going down to me strikes me as being anti- American.

America now is still the greatest place on earth to live. just ask all the Mexican immigrants who are coming across the border illegally. Obviously, we’re doing something right or they wouldn’t be pouring into this country.

I think that needs to be addressed in the upcoming debates. It’s bad messaging and it gives swing voters like my mom,  the impression that the Republicans believe because we have a black president who is a Democrat that that makes America a bad place and that’s not a good message to be putting out to the rest of America are not necessarily Republicans.

Just my opinion and I will come yours here.

UPDATE: As I figured he would, Donald Trump is whining like a little bitch that he was picked on by Meghan Kelly.

If he can’t handle Meghan Kelly, how the hell is he going to handle the problems that he is going to meet in the White House?

The man is not entitled to be treated any differently than anybody else. I don’t give a darn how much money he has!

So, as far as I’m concerned; Donald Trump is no longer a serious candidate in my eyes and I am sure I’m not the only person that feels that way.

Update #2: Now a big story on Memeorandum.

Rand Paul says that the neocons secretly want a terrorist attack to happen, so that they can blame it on him

Well, I knew that there was a good reason why I removed Rand Paul’s banner from my blog and from my twitter account. This is one of them. The other is that the media, namely Fox News is trying to ignore Rand Paul. Well, this below might explain as to why they are doing so. Rand Paul will never get elected spouting stupid stuff like this in the media.

The Video:

The full quote:

RAND PAUL: People here in town think I’m making a huge mistake. Some of them, I think, secretly want there to be an attack on the United States so they can blame it on me. One of the people in the media the other day came up to me and said, “oh, when there’s a great attack aren’t you going to feel guilty that you caused this great attack?” It’s like the people who attack us are responsible for attacks on us.

Do we blame the police chief for the attack of the Boston bombers? The thing is that there can be attacks even if we use the Constitution, but there have been attacks while collecting your bulk data. So the ones who say when an attack occurs it’s going to be all your fault, are any of them willing to accept the blame? We have bulk collection now, are any of them willing to accept the blame for the Boston bombing, for the recent shooting in Garland? No, but they’ll be the first to point fingers and say, “oh, yeah it’s all your fault, we never should have given up on this great program.”

I’m completely convinced that we can obey the Constitution, use the Fourth Amendment as intended, spirit and letter of the law, and catch terrorists.

Well, say goodnight to Rand Paul. He won’t make it out of the first primary. It is a pity too, I would loved to seen him in the White House. But, making comments like that one, does nothing to further your cause to become President of the United States. That is not my opinion and I am not fan boy of any of the other people running for President either. It is just the reality of the political game. You just cannot make comments like that and remain in the game. It just does not work. 50 years ago, maybe. Nowadays, forget it.

Neoconservative Fox News Channel actively working to keep Rand Paul out of their coverage

Well, it seems that Neoconservative Fox News Channel is actively working with the elitists in the GOP to cut Rand Paul out of their election coverage. First you have this idiot clueless blonde dago bashing Rand Paul for daring to call out the neoconservatives on ISIS and now; this:

The Story

Once again, Fox News forgot to include Sen. Rand Paul in their coverage of a new 2016 presidential poll, even though the senator outperformed other candidates mentioned and the survey cited made Paul a significant part of their original headline.Quinnipiac released a poll today featuring the headline “Five Leaders In 2016 Republican White House Race, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Rubio, Paul Are Only Republicans Even Close To Clinton.” Yet in Fox News’ coverage, Paul apparently didn’t register enough to justify being shown on the broadcast of the poll.

..

If you think that Bill Kristol and John Podhoretz are not behind that, you are crazy. Why? Because they are these sort of people:

They are cyst on the ass of politics; and they should be ran out of the Republican Party and out of politics and as far as I am concerned, out of Country on a rail. 😡

It’s Official: Rand Paul is in for 2016!

https://youtu.be/zX6XU_i9Mdg?t=41m1s

AP:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Sen. Rand Paul launched his 2016 presidential campaign Tuesday with a combative message against both Washington and his fellow Republicans, declaring that “we have come to take our country back.”

The fiery message, delivered in his home state of Kentucky before he jetted to four early-nominating states, was set to motivate legions of supporters from his father’s two earlier unsuccessful bids for the Republicans’ presidential nomination, as well as broaden his appeal outside of the typical GOP coalition.

“I worry that the opportunity and hope are slipping away for our sons and daughters,” Paul said in a speech that tried to tap into Americans’ deep frustration with Washington. “What kind of America will our grandchildren see?”

He added: “It seems to me that both parties and the entire political system are to blame.”

I will be adding a banner and a link to his donation site. I stand with Rand Paul.

Why Rand Paul is never, ever going to be President

Because who in their right mind is going to want someone, whose Father says stuff like this, to be President of the United States of America? Not me.

The Story:

Former Republican Rep. Ron Paul, the father of potential presidential candidate Rand Paul and a former presidential candidate himself, said the Congressional Black Caucus does not support war because they want that money for food stamps.

“I was always annoyed with it in Congress because we had an anti-war unofficial group, a few libertarian Republicans and generally the Black Caucus and others did not—they are really against war because they want all of that money to go to food stamps for people here,” Ron Paul told Lew Rockwell in early February during a discussion on sanctions.

As much as I dislike the neocons of the Kristol and Podhoretz stripe; they have a point about Ron Paul and to a lesser degree Rand Paul. This above is just straight up bigotry. I mean, the N-Word was not used, okay? I see that. However, Ron Paul basically said that all the blacks ever want is hand outs from the Government.

Sorry, but, that is nothing more than blind bigotry.

I mean, between this and Rudy; we’re screwed for 2016. 😡

I have to agree with Rand Paul on this one about Mitt Romney.

As much as I hate to admit it, I have to agree with Rand Paul here.

The Story:

As recently as October, Ann Romney was poo-pooing the notion of a third Mitt Romney candidacy. After two failed presidential bids, in 2008 and 2012, she and her husband had “moved on,” she told ABC News.

Though sources close to Mitt Romney recently announced he’s once again “thinking about” another bid for the White House, at least one of Romney’s GOP colleagues thinks Ann Romney had the right idea.

“I’m with Ann Romney on this one: No, no, no, no, never,” Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl at a forum of three likely 2016 presidential candidates in Palm Springs, California, Sunday night.

Romney “would have made a great president,” added Paul, rumored to be considering his own White House bid. “But to win the presidency you have the reach out and appeal to new constituencies. And I just don’t think it’s possible.”

“And if he thinks, ‘Well, I’m just going to change a few themes and next time I’ll reach out to more people,’ I think it’s a little more visceral than that,” the libertarian lawmaker said of Romney

via Rand Paul on Possible Mitt Romney Run: ‘No, No, No, No’ – ABC News.

Of course, Rand Paul has his own set of issues; namely one, his Father. Rand Paul has to prove to the hawkish side of the GOP, the Neocons; that he will not be an Anti-Israel, bigoted person like his Father is accused of being by those on the marxist Right and Left.

As for his comments about Romney, I happen to agree. Romney, the last time he ran, came off to the majority of America as some rich guy, who really did not care about the middle class in this Country. Now, does Rand Paul strike me as that type of a person? In some ways yes, he seems like a very nice man. Not only this, Romney was a mormon, and as I have written here many times; most evangelical Christians and most all Fundamentalist Christians have a deep distrust of the mormons and their so-called “Church.” This is truly why Mitt Romney lost the election, because the evangelical and Fundamentalist Christians, a very large voting bloc in the Republican Party and within the Conservative Base simply stayed home.

Furthermore, most Republicans and Christian Conservatives simply felt that Mitt Romney was too moderate, they also felt that he was too squishy on issues important to the Republican and Conservative Christian base. Not only that, Mitt Romney simply would not fight in the last election. There were times when, I felt that, Mitt Romney should have come out swinging on Obama and could have easily deep sixed Obama’s chances of winning; but, because he was simply too nice of a guy, he would not do it. This, my friends, is how elections are NOT won. If you are going to play the political game, you have to fight. The Democrats fight and they fight dirty and you have to beat them at their game. This is how Reagan won, this is how Bush 41 won and this is how Bush 44 won.

Simply put: Mitt Romney cannot win. Neither can the rest of the moderate squishes who are running. The Republican Party is no longer a moderate party and the Conservative base is not a moderate base any longer. The are plugged in, and they are wanting real people, who share their convictions.
