Neo-Conservative Double Standards

A very humorous observation:

The Weekly Standard sets a new standard for hypocrisy in this week’s Scrapbook column that attacks Eliot Spitzer for trying to rehab his image in the wake of his involvement with a prostitution ring:

“Not so long ago, when a politician was caught in bed with a whore, it meant not only the end of his political career, but extended exile from polite society. This was particularly true of politicians–Client No. 9, for example–who wore their virtue on their shirtsleeve.”

The Standard is certainly entitled to its opinion about Spitzer but it shouldn’t treat the former Governor differently than other politicians that have been Johns (Sinner David Vitter comes to mind).

By the Weekly Standard’s standards, Vitter should also be in “extended exile from polite society.” Spitzer left elected office but Vitter is running for another term in the Senate. If the Standard thinks Spitzer should be in extended exile, presumably it thinks Vitter should join him.

via When It Comes To Politicians & Hookers, The Weekly Standard Sets A New Standard For Hypocrisy « The Marathon Blog by Phil Singer.

Perhaps Mr. Singer is not aware of the inverted logic of the Neo-Conservatives and possibly the entire Republican Party; “For Thee and not for Me.”

Which sums up the whole last 8 years.

The Southern Avenger on "Newt's Foreign Policy Fantasies"

Synopsis: When Kim Jong-il finally conducted a missile test, Newt Gingrich not only said that the U.S should have launched a pre-emptive strike against North Korea, but that President Obama’s refusal to do so reflected a “fantasy foreign policy.” But it is Gingrich, who has long been the most delusional on the subject.

My only comment is, what was Mark Sanford trying to say?

Neo-Conservative shill and Bush cheerleader; not to mention Open Border advocate Kathryn Jean Lopez At NRO, reminds us that ideas have consequences; while displaying some lame photo-shop. You’d think she would have thought of this, when she promoted the war in Iraq and when she fired he Anti-Illegal Immigration employees at National Review.

It’s no wonder that William Buckley distanced himself from that publication before his death. His exact words were “They’ve become distant,” but we true Conservatives knew what he meant.

Tuesday Short Takes

I have to take my Mom to the Doctors Office today. So, for now my short takes on the Headlines today:

  1. Vermont Legalizes the Gay Blades right to marry, overturns veto. Poor ol’ Veto, it’ll take forever to get him right side up.
  2. Some dude from some show on T.V. is going to the White House to help Barry. Thank God, that man needs all the help he can get. Maybe he can help him actually look like he knows what he is doing.
  3. President Teleprompter makes an unannounced visit to Iraq. Hopefully, Barry will avoid calling Iraq a stupid war; at least in front of the troops anyhow.
  4. More torture memos come out. It doesn’t look pretty folks.
  5. The Congress and Obama White Honeymoon is over, due to defense cuts.
  6. More Gitmo Soap Opera, does it ever end?
  7. Al-Franken/Stevens Gate continues. Just seat the friggin guy and get it over with!

  9. No Risk Insurance at the F.D.I.C.
  10. David Brooks is still crying in his beer over Obama.
  11. Some idiot Rag-headed fool from Canada flew a small plane from Canada to Rush Limbaugh’s home state, and they say “Oh, he’s just a headcase… Nothing to see here… move along…”, and how do you sleep at night?
  12. The idiot G.O.P. Chief, in Virginia, who was outset for being a crook and quite the bone headed idiot is now going to try and run again. Stupid is, as stupid does.
  13. No more turbans for Women in Afghanistan. Such a shame, as most of them women are damned ugly. Well, at least now, you’ll be able to tell the Women from the men folk, and our military will know which one’s to shoot.
  14. The Ice is melting in the Arctic, someone get a mop.
  15. NY-20 is leaning towards Murphy. I hope Murphy’s wearing a hard hat. If that thing falls it might hurt!

Quote of the Day

As we celebrate the vicarious death and victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us remember the importance of preserving liberty within these United States of America. And this commitment involves much more than attending church once a week or repeating an occasional catechism. It means we must seek to incorporate the principles of liberty and independence into the very fabric of our lives and work. It means we will offer eternal vigilance to the fundamental principles upon which America was built. Liberty has no guarantees or assurances. Each generation must work to preserve, protect, and defend the principles of constitutional government, or else liberty will be lost.

Made a fool of by Hitler, baited by his backbenchers, goaded by Lord Halifax, facing a vote of no confidence, on March 31, 1939, Chamberlain made the greatest blunder in British diplomatic history. He handed an unsolicited war guarantee to the Polish colonels who had just bitten off a chunk of Czechoslovakia.

Lunacy, raged Lloyd George, who was echoed by British leaders and almost every historian since.

With the British Empire behind it, Warsaw now refused even to discuss a return of Danzig, the Baltic town, 95 percent German, which even Chamberlain thought should be returned.

Hitler did not want a war with Poland. Had he wanted war, he would have demanded the return of the entire Polish  corridor taken from Germany in 1919. He wanted Danzig back and Poland as an ally in his anti-Comintern Pact. Nor did he want war with a Britain he admired and always saw as a natural ally.

Nor did he want war with France, or he would have demanded the return of Alsace.

But Hitler was out on a limb with Danzig and could not crawl back.

Repeatedly, Hitler tried to negotiate Danzig. Repeatedly, the Poles rebuffed him. Seeing the Allies courting Josef Stalin, Hitler decided to cut his own deal with the detested Bolsheviks and settle the Polish issue by force.

Though Britain had no plans to aid Poland, no intention of aiding Poland and would do nothing to aid Poland — Churchill would cede half that nation to Stalin and the other half to Stalin’s stooges — Britain declared war for Poland.

The most awful war in all of history followed, which would bankrupt Britain, bring down her empire and bring Stalin’s Red Army into Prague, Berlin and Vienna. But Hitler was dead and Germany in ashes.

Cost: 50 million lives. “But ’twas a famous victory.”

Reality is a dish served cold

It seems that Israel is unimpressed by the hope and change montra of Barack Obama.

Via the Jerusalem Post:

“Israel does not take orders from [Barack] Obama,” Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) said on Monday, responding to an earlier statement by the US president in which he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to all previous understandings between Israel and the Palestinians, including the process launched at Annapolis, Maryland, in 2007.

Erdan, who is also the liaison between the cabinet and the Knesset, praised Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman (Israel Beiteinu), who only last week said Israel was not bound by the Annapolis talks because it had never been approved by the cabinet or the Knesset.

“In voting for [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu the citizens of Israel have decided that they will not become the US’s 51st state,” said Erdan, who was representing the coalition in a Knesset discussion of Lieberman’s controversial statements. He added, however, that “Obama is a friend of Israel and the United States is an important ally, and everything between us will be the result of communication.”

As the title of the post states, reality is a dish served cold; the crew of the of the USS Liberty found this out on June 8, 1967. When Israeli forces supposedly accidentally bombed one of our ships during the six day war. I say “supposedly” because much information has surfaced in the last couple of years, that the bombing was totally intentional. Much, if not all of this information has been suppressed by the main stream media and by the United States Government up until very recently.

I have always held the opinion that Israel does not see the United States as an true ally. But more of a useful idiot. Because of the overwhelming support by Christian Zionists who somehow or another see Israel has their rightful home; which if someone actually did study their Bible and learn how to interpret it properly, they would see the Zionism is nothing more than a man-made lie to produce money for a sin-depraved Nation and for a group of people going to straight to hell for rejecting Christ as their messiah.

However, there is a good reason for the continuance of the furtherance of this manufactured lie; Money. The money raised by the Zionist shills is good for Church Business and good for the shills that peddle this idiotic doctrine. Having said all the that, it is good to see that for a change that one of Israel’s leaders has finally decided to speak freely about what Americas real role in Israel really is, instead of the well manufactured lie that they have been peddling to the Christian World for so long.

Major change in Defense Dept. Budget

Here’s the partial video via AP:

The Full transcript via Defense Link:

Today, I am announcing the key decisions I will recommend to the president with respect to the fiscal year 2010 defense budget. The president agreed to this unorthodox approach – announcing the department’s request before the White House submits a budget to the Congress – because of the scope and significance of the changes. In addition, the president and I believe that the American people deserve to learn of these recommendations fully and in context, as the proposed changes are interconnected and cannot be properly communicated or understood in isolation from one another. Collectively, they represent a budget crafted to reshape the priorities of America’s defense establishment. If approved, these recommendations will profoundly reform how this department does business.

In many ways, my recommendations represent the cumulative outcome of a lifetime spent in the national security arena and, above all, questions asked, experience gained, and lessons learned from over two years of leading this department – and, in particular, from our experience in Iraq and Afghanistan. I reached the final decisions after many hours of consultations with the military and civilian leadership of the department. I have also consulted closely with the president. But, I received no direction or guidance from outside this department on individual program decisions. The chairman and vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff are in complete accord with these recommendations. The chairman is traveling abroad but he has provided a statement that we will distribute at the end of the briefing.

My decisions have been almost exclusively influenced by factors other than simply finding a way to balance the books or fit under the “top line” – as is normally the case with most budget exercises. Instead, these recommendations are the product of a holistic assessment of capabilities, requirements, risks and needs for the purpose of shifting this department in a different strategic direction. Let me be clear: I would have made virtually all of the decisions and recommendations announced today regardless of the department’s top line budget number. – Read The Rest

The Federal Government cracks down on the Scam Mortgage Loaners , except for the most important one

So much for enforcing the law….:

The Obama administration has already unveiled its plan to stem the rising home foreclosure rate, but with foreclosure scams also increasing, the administration today announced a multi-agency effort to crack down on scams that prey on struggling homeowners.

“Just as this administration has intensified our efforts to help American homeowners, those who would seek to prey on the most vulnerable are intensifying their tactics as well, often through purported mortgage modification and foreclosure relief companies,” Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said at an announcement in Washington. “These are predatory schemes designed to rob Americans of their savings and potentially their homes.”

The FBI is currently investigating more than 2,100 mortgage fraud cases, up 400 percent from five years ago

via Feds Crack Down on Foreclosure Scams – ABC News.

Hip Hip Hooray, Obama is enforcing the law!  Well, perhaps not. 🙄

Judicial Watch reports that the two biggest corrupt lenders; Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack, have broken the law for years. What excatly is President Teleprompter and his attack Dog Tim Geithner AKA Eddie Haskel doing about this?

*crickets*

You guessed it! Not a damn thing……. So much for all the “Hope and Change” and a new direction in America. As I long suspected a very long time ago, it is simply more of the same from an empty suit, who’s big on speeches and low on substance.

Update: Hello to all the Freepers reading this! 😀 Please take a look around, you might just like it here. 🙂
