Police State?: Military Vet Detained For Psych Evaluation Over Anti-Government Facebook Posts

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A former Marine involuntarily detained for psychiatric evaluation for posting strident anti-government messages on Facebook has received an outpouring of support from people who say authorities are trampling on his First Amendment rights.

Brandon J. Raub, 26, has been in custody since FBI and Secret Service agents and Chesterfield County police questioned him Thursday evening about what they considered ominous posts talking of a coming revolution. In one message earlier this month, Raub wrote: “Sharpen my axe; I’m here to sever heads.”

Police — acting under a state law that allows emergency, temporary psychiatric commitments upon the recommendation of a mental health professional — took Raub to the John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell. He was not charged with any crime.

The Rutherford Institute, a Charlottesville-based civil liberties group, sent one of its attorneys to the hospital to represent Raub at a hearing Monday. A judge ordered Raub detained for another month, Rutherford executive director John Whitehead said.

“For government officials to not only arrest Brandon Raub for doing nothing more than exercising his First Amendment rights but to actually force him to undergo psychological evaluations and detain him against his will goes against every constitutional principle this country was founded upon,” Whitehead said. “This should be a wake-up call to Americans that the police state is here.”

I find it pretty ironic that this guy was a former Military man and that he also is a libertarian. I also would like to know just what the criteria that was used to determine that this was some sort of a public threat. The FBI said there was no snooping; I believe that, like I believe in Santa Claus. I admit, what he said would startle me as well; but that is no cause to call the police or anything like that, unless he actually does something.

Now, after reading those; let me ask you this: Do you believe what you just saw, is too far fetched?  Think about this; state Governments are now routinely rounding up people whom they believe to be a threat. Who is to say, that one fine day, that some atheistic liberal decides that Christians of say, a Fundamentalist sort —- like someone who preaches that Homosexuality is evil, immoral, and against God’s Word — are in their words — dangerous? What if someday, someone decided that anyone who believes that the Jews are sole responsibility for Jesus being sent to the cross —- is a threat to society?

My friends, we are not to far away from that very thing. As it is right now, true believers — like myself — are being ostracized in the political blogosphere.  You think it is a coincidence that I am being vilified by the majority of the Blogosphere? It is because of who I am and I am follower of Christ and I know the truth! This is why they hate me and this blog. This is why they write things to try and discredit me and this blog and prevent me from getting a job. Because I know the truth that is found in the Holy Bible! It is because I came out of that movement of confusion called Pentecostalism and went back to the faith of my youth, of the Independent Fundamentalist Baptists and went back to reading the REAL word of God! Which is, for your information, the King James Bible!

They hate me, because of that which is in my heart!

This is why the Jews hate me, this is why the neoconservatives hate me, this is why the papist bloggers hate me. Because I know the truth about them, their end, and the fact that the Lord has them on a short leash and they are on borrowed time. 

However, I do have hope:

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 KJV)

This is my hope; not in this world, not to be some business superstar, not in Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan — but in Jesus and his return. I have a Heavenly reward waiting for me.  Because of something that I did, as a 9 year old boy, back in an old Independent, Fundamental, King James Believing, Baptist Church on June 7, 1982 at about 9 in the morning.  I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour, and asked him to become the Lord of my life.  I did that 30 years ago, by faith and it has been a great ride. I have much to do, but I am grateful for that I do have and have been able to do.

My friends, rejoice, for the Lord’s coming is nearing. Fear not, for the devil cannot kill you, unless God gives him permission. That is, if you are in his family.  The question is  —– are you? Atheists can mock, but they cannot steal.
