Gulp: Egypt cleric issues fatwa against cast and crew of ‘Innocence of Muslims’ movie

Wow… 😯 Despite that the cast and crew of this movie are coming out and saying that they were deceived; this cleric is calling for their necks.

The Story:

WASHINGTON: A Salafist cleric in Egypt is calling for the deaths of all those involved in the making of an anti-Muslim film that has outraged the Islamic world, SITE Intelligence Group said on Monday.

In a statement, the terrorism monitoring service said Ahmad Fouad Ashoush issued his fatwa, or religious edict, against the cast and crew of ” Innocence of Muslims” via jihadist internet forums over the weekend.

“Those bastards who did this film are belligerent disbelievers,” Ashoush said, according to SITE’s translation of the lengthy Arabic statement.

“I issue a fatwa and call on the Muslim youth in America and Europe to do this duty, which is to kill the director, the producer and the actors and everyone who helped and promoted the film,” he said.

“So, hurry, hurry, O Muslim youth in America and Europe, and teach those filthy lowly ones a lesson that all the monkeys and pigs in America and Europe will understand. May Allah guide you and grant you success.”

Whoa boy… This situation just from bad to like, “oh crap!” in like a few days. It is usually standard procedure to go into hiding, when these get issued. If I were these cast members, I would be finding me a secret place, among friends to like hide out, for like a few years. I know that years ago, that AllahPundit over at HotAir.com had one of these issued against him. To this day; from what I am told, these people are still looking for AP. In fact, I have seen them here, searching my archives for any information on the guy.

Some on the right are dismissing this, or at least not taking it very seriously. Well, let me tell you; that is wrong way to take this; because I am here to tell you all — these people do not play at all. When one of these comes down, they usually mean business.  So, for the right to blow this off, is the wrong way to be looking it this.

Needless to say; If I were one of those cast members and crew, I would be worried, very worried about my personal safety. I also would be looking for somewhere to go, that was quite heavily armed and fortified; and I would tell no one, outside of those who I knew I would trust — where I was located at.

While it might be tempting to have a Blasé attitude about terrorism and radical, and not-so radical Islam this many years after 9/11. However, let me give you some cold, hard reality: Nothing and I mean, nothing has changed about the way Muslims feel about this Country and its Christian heritage. They hate us for it, and when something, like this happens. It stirs up all that hatred again. So, needless to say; this is some serious stuff and I would not downplay it one bit.

Just my thoughts.

    1. I admit it, I had to look it up:

And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee. (Jeremiah 1:19 KJV)

Amen. Good chapter too. However, if something like that happened to me. I wouldn’t take any chances at all. I’d be hiding, with guns, lots of them.

  1. I completely agree that the target of any fatwa must go into hiding if he or she expects to live.
This kind of behavior makes it impossible for me to see Islam as a religion of peace. When people besmirch the name of Christ, nobody issues a kill order. We may weep and we may rant, but we don’t kill our enemies. On our best days we actually try to love and pray for our enemies. Our leaders usually try to help us do that.
I don’t know what the world can do about people who believe that fatwas and jihad are part of faithful iving. What do we do?

I agree. It does make it hard. Very true too, we don’t kill people. Now people like Timothy Mcveigh, who was not a Christian; made us look horrible. It stinks. But that’s life.

I don’t know. I really don’t have the answer to that. It is a tough thing.
