Ann Coulter is not a Conservative

I know it is a provocative headline. But it is the truth about her.

Ann Coulter who seems to have this thing about insulting people with disabilities, basically comes out and admits what I have always kind of known about her.

In her post election column she says the following:

The overwhelming majority of people — including me — are going to say the law shouldn’t force someone who has been raped to carry the child. On the other hand, abortion should be illegal in most other cases.

Is that so hard for Republicans to say?

Purist conservatives are like idiot hipsters who can’t like a band that’s popular. They believe that a group with any kind of a following can’t be a good band, just as show-off social conservatives consider it a mark of integrity that their candidates — Akin, Mourdock, Sharron Angle, Christine O’Donnell — take wildly unpopular positions and lose elections.

It was the same thing with purist libertarian Barry Goldwater, who — as you will read in my book, "Mugged: Racial Demagoguery From the Seventies to Obama" — nearly destroyed the Republican Party with his pointless pursuit of libertarian perfection in his vote against the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

I like a band that sells NO albums because it proves they have too much integrity to sell out.

We have a country to save. And just as the laws of elections generally mean the incumbent president wins, they also mean the party out of the White House typically stages a big comeback in midterm elections. BIG. Don’t blow it with purist showoffs next time, Republicans.

Ann Coulter above just committed two of the biggest sins that a establishment Republican could ever commit:

  1. Ann basically admitted that she is a moderate, when it comes to abortion; and basically believes that killing an unborn child, if it produced by rape, is perfectly fine.
  2. She mocked Berry Goldwater; who was right for opposing the 1964 civil rights act, because it is was unconstitutional.

Which proves to me without a shadow of a doubt, that little miss Ann Hart Coulter has never been, nor will she ever be, a grassroots, heartland, Conservative Christian. But, rather a moderate Republican establishment type. As if her slobbering all over George W. Bush and his foolhardy decision to go into and invade Iraq was not enough to prove that about her. While I might agree with her, on her disdain of feminists; conservative or otherwise, this here, and the insult mentioned above, are why this blogger chooses not to have her books in my bookstore here.

  1. I may shock you here, but I’m willing to break libertarian on Federal Constitutional issues.
Abortion is murder, and marriage shall remain heterosexual in the eyes of God, but including those issues at a national level remains a poison pill for social conservatives.

    1. Hi Chris,

Yeah, I kind of agree with that. I do not believe that it should be the main focus of an election. However, I do not believe that Republicans ought to totally forsake the social Conservatism leg of the stool.

The reason is this; you cannot win elections without the social con wing of the party. I believe that was a good part of Romney’s undoing. A good part of the Christian Community just did not go out and vote for the guy. They stayed home and that was because he was a Mormon.

I think Rick Santorum would have done better, because he was a Roman Catholic, but, he sort of stepped into his own Manure with the swearing bit and too, he came off as arrogant to me.

Either way, I hope that they can come up with a protestant Christian man next time around, because I would vote for him, in a heartbeat.
