Why I am not a big fan of John Podhoretz

I support Israel and all; but this right here, is why I am not a huge fan of John Podhoretz.

Glenn Greenwald reports:

One reason I think this discussion is so important is because the manipulation of the term “terrorism” this way permits and bolsters (even if unintentionally) an extremely ugly, destructive, and toxic worldview, one which the Editor-in-Chief of Commentary Magazine, John Podhoretz, vividly expressed last night on Twitter when discussing the firing of Keith Olbermann by Current TV:

That’s about as overtly racist a statement from a media figure with a platform as you’ll see (and the it’s-just-a-joke excuse is obviously irrelevant: just imagine analogous “jokes” about how disfavored journalists would be punished at The Jerusalem Post, or Black Entertainment Television, etc.). To Podhoretz, Al Jazeera is filled with Arabs and Muslims, which means: The Terrorists (for many years after 9/11, that was virtually official U.S. government policy). Podhoretz is the same person who wrote a New York Post column in 2006 lamenting that in the early stages of the Iraq War, “we didn’t kill enough Sunnis in the early going to intimidate them and make them so afraid of us they would go along with anything,” suggesting that the big U.S. mistake in the war was allowing “the survival of Sunni men between the ages of 15 and 35.” Remember, though: it’s those Muslims who are The Terrorists (when influential American “terrorism experts” start talking about the John Podhoretzes of the world as terrorism advocates, and about “Shock and Awe“, the assault on Fallujah and the bombing of Gaza as terrorism, and about Ronald Reagan as a “state sponsor of terrorism” for his funding of El Salvadoran death squads and Nicaraguan contras, and about the parties responsible for the assassination of Iranian civilian scientists as international terrorists, then I’ll start to take the honorific more seriously).

I have no doubt that most respected “terrorism experts” would find Podhoretz’s comment about Al Jazeera repugnant. But the mentality on display here — and it’s quite pervasive (which is why this is one of the few remaining forms of overt bigotry that provokes no real sanction) — finds nourishment in the constant discussion of Terrorism, the Supreme Evil, as: acts of violence by Muslims directed at us (but not violence by our own government or those of its allies directed at Muslims).

The above is exactly why the libertarian crowd hates the Zionist crowd with a passion. This is why I am not a huge fan of John Podhoretz and his ilk. It is because they can make statements like this, without any repercussions. If someone, who is not a Zionist made a similar statement about Israel and Jews; they would be excoriated from one end of the blogosphere to the other. Mr. Glennwald has a very good point and I think everyone on the Jewish Conservative side of the political isle, ought to take a hard look at this and take it very seriously. If the Zionists want respect, they have to learn to respect others. Because not all Arabs out there are terrorists; just like not all blacks are murders, robbers, and so forth —- not all white people are robe and hood carrying Klansman. Some black liberals might think that, but I digress. Furthermore, not all Jews are evil bankers trying to overthrow the Country. See? It goes both ways. Someone needs to tell Podhoretz to keep his damned bigotry towards Arabs to himself.

Also too; anyone who believes that Jews can be insulted like this, and can get away with it —- ought to have a nice long talk — with Rick Sanchez.

Just a thought.

Rick Santorum commits the worst political gaffe ever

First of all, before I get started here and before anyone comes into the comments section yelling at me. I really do not have a dog in this fight at all. I am not voting Republican this time around either in the general election. This is because I am of the opinion that NONE of these candidates really fit the bill of what I consider a small Government Conservative. Romney is a flip-flopper, a serial liar, and basically said that the big three should be allowed to fail; which pissed me, my family and a good part of Detroit off. Which explains why nobody showed up at his little event at Ford field. Rick Santorum is an anti-libertarian and, as all pro-lifers are, a big Government Statist and a Theocrat.  Not to mention that Santorum and Gingrich are both Catholic, something of which I have some serious issues with; it is simply that I happen to know what the Roman Catholic Church did to my Baptist ancestors. I cannot and will not vote for someone who is Catholic.  As for Ron Paul, while I can appreciate his stance of economic issues; I just cannot and will not support someone, in the general election, who is not supportive of Israel.  Because of all this, I am voting libertarian in the general election. I am a principled voter, not a “go along to get along” voter.

Now that I have said all of that, let’s get to the gaffe already!

Here is the video via HotAir, in which AllahPundit almost caused a civil war!  😯

AllahPundit posted that last night with the following quote:

Faced with the reality that his chances have collapsed, the Sweater Vest begins to unravel…

Based on the comments, all 1,650 Comments of them; I have one thing to say to you Allahpundit — not to rip you off, but — Good Lord. 🙄 I thought I was a poop-stinky starter! I have nothing on AP man, nothing at all.  😀

Of course, this earned him a good smack down by Ed Morrissey, who is a Republican and a level headed Conservative. Ed offers this bit of advice to Santorum:

It seems that Senator Santorum has forgotten the purpose of the Republican primary.  It’s to choose the most successful candidate to beat Obama in the general election.  It isn’t to test a few candidates to see whether the goal of beating Obama is worth the bother.

And why do we need to beat Obama?  The economic policies of this administration have been an utter disaster.  The Senate won’t pass any budgets, not even the President’s, while he’s in the Oval Office.  Energy prices are going through the roof thanks to the massive regulatory hurdles his administration has created to production and refining, especially on federal lands.  An ObamaCare repeal will only happen if Obama is no longer President, assuming that the Supreme Court doesn’t throw the whole law out this summer.

I suggest you go read the rest of that; because I happen to be of the opinion that Ed is very much correct in his assessment.

Of course, Santorum issues a statement, of course, blaming Romney for the mess, which is quite stupid, because Romney did not make the gaffe — Santorum did. Idiots deluxe as always! 🙄

Here is the statement:

“I would never vote for Barack Obama over any Republican and to suggest otherwise is preposterous. This is just another attempt by the Romney Campaign to distort and distract the media and voters from the unshakeable fact that many of Romney’s policies mirror Barack Obama’s.  I was simply making the point that there is a huge enthusiasm gap around Mitt Romney and it’s easy to see why – Romney has sided with Obama on healthcare mandates, cap-and-trade, and the Wall Street bailouts.  Voters have to be excited enough to actually go vote, and my campaign’s movement to restore freedom is exciting this nation.  If this election is about Obama versus the Obama-Lite candidate, we have a tough time rallying this nation.  It’s time for bold vision, bold reforms and bold contrasts.  This election is about more than Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, or Rick Santorum – this campaign is about freedom and I will fight to restore your freedoms.”

Why can’t the man just say, “oops. I blew it. I am sorry, will not happen again.” and be done with it? This is why I could not be a politician. Either that or even better, “Yes, I said it and I am proud of it!” Why this walk-back crap? It isn’t like Santorum is going to be the nominee anyhow. So, why do this? I just do not get it.

Either way, should it be any surprise that Romney is doing well in the polls now? You think it is bad here? Wait till the later polls come out, when this all has had to time to get to the public. I am think Santorum will be backing out soon here. Now, I am not saying that Santorum should back out; I am simply saying he might have suck his foot in his….political campaign.

Baptist Pastor Dennis Terry introducing Rick Santorum, tells liberals “Get out of America!”

I suppose you all might be expecting me to cheer this guy. Well, surprise! No, not this time. In fact, I even feel a bit sorry for Rick Santorum.

What am I talking about?

Phew! Grumpy old feller ain’t he? Well, he is a Baptist and he is old and he is from Louisiana.  I would tend to guess that this sort of thing is basically par for the course; at least with him anyhow. In other words, yeah, he is one of ours. 🙄

For the record, I do not believe for a minute that Rick Santorum believes any of that stuff that Dennis Terry was preaching from his bully pulpit. In fact, he said as much yesterday; over to you ABC NEWS:

MOLINE, Ill. – Rick Santorum told reporters Monday he did not agree with a controversial statement about non-Christians made by a Louisiana pastor at a church service Santorum attended Sunday in Greenwell Springs, La.

[…..]
After an event in Moline Monday evening, Santorum was asked repeatedly by reporters if he agreed with the pastor’s words.

“If the question is, do I agree with his statement that America shouldn’t do that? No, if he was speaking for himself he’s obviously allowed to believe what he wants to believe but, obviously I believe in freedom of religion and all religions are welcome and should be. I think I’ve made that pretty clear throughout my campaign that I believe very much in freedom of religion, and folks should be able to worship whoever they want to worship and bring their thoughts in the public square and have at it and give them the opportunity to make their faith claims, and make their claims to reason and any other claims. That’s what America’s all about. As far as I’m concerned they should be here and make their arguments the best they can,” said Santorum.

Santorum said he did not clap when the pastor made these comments.

“I didn’t clap when he said that. I do remember him saying that, I said, well, I wasn’t quite sure he was saying it for himself, I wasn’t quite listening to everything to be honest with you. But I wasn’t sure whether he was speaking for himself or speaking generally, but I didn’t clap when he said that because it’s not how I feel.”

Here is why I feel a bit sorry for Rick Santorum. Because quite frankly, there are times when these guys who are running for President, will find themselves in awful situations like these and to be quite honest with you; there is not much he can do about it. I mean, it would be totally disrespectful for Mr. Santorum to try and interrupt, or worse, get up and leave. Now, I am sure liberals would think he should have done that; but some things are just best left alone.

For the record, and this is for the Conservatives and Republicans who will actually read this; I do not fault this Pastor for what he believes. Pastor Dennis Terry is an old salt from the America that once was; and I do not think he should be punished for his remarks, no more than I would want a far-leftist liberal Democrat punished for he believes. Like Rick Santorum said, that is what makes America great, diversity of opinion and beliefs. If we all believed alike, this Country would be more boring than watching a Martha Stewart peep show.

I have been known to fault Rick Santorum on many things; one being his big Government Statist stupidity. But, this one here, I just cannot muster the outrage. I mean, it just is not his fault that Pastor Dennis Terry believes the way that he does.

The latest on Sandra Fluck

I have not really blogged on this much; the kudos goes to this blogger for his fishing out the story on Sandra Fluck’s connections in the progressive movement.

Now the Democrats are crying antisemitism. Where were they when Alan Dershowitz was pointing out to everyone that Media Matters for America was antisemitic? These same democrats are now whining about privacy. The same people who dug up Joe the plumbers private records and exposed them.

Difference is, Joe’s info was private; this info on Fluck was ALL public info. Besides all that, this stupid woman put herself out there as some sort of victim; when in fact she is a professional activist and she got exposed. Boo hoo, crap happens. Take two mydol’s and call me in the morning.

Again, I love it when the left gets exposed like this. The hypocrisy is stunning.

Confirmed: Jerry Falwell was a flaming hypocrite, when it came to Biblical separation

First of all, what you have to understand is that, as a Christian, I am a Fundamentalist Baptist, of the David Cloud stripe. (He is not my Pastor or guru or anything like that, I simply agree with about 99% of his writings.) For all intents and purposes, this here, can be considered my Statement of Faith.

I have for many years held the belief, that Jerry Falwell was a not a true-blue Fundamentalist Baptist, but rather a “go along to get along” soft evangelical that would sell a Fundamentalist up the river for the cause of  political and religious unity. This posting in the Christian Post about a book that has come out, confirms what I suspected for years:

WASHINGTON – Michael Sean Winters, a biographer of the late Jerry Falwell, said that the controversial preacher and Christian Right leader helped remove the stigma conservative Protestants had working alongside Roman Catholics and Mormons for common political goals.

Winters, author of God’s Right Hand: How Jerry Falwell Made God a Republican and Baptized the American Right, was a guest speaker at an event Monday that carried the same title as his book. The event was sponsored by the Center for American Progress and the People For the American Way Foundation (PFAWF).

“He dispensed with this idea that you could not be yoked with nonbelievers or non-fundamentalists,” said Winters to The Christian Post.

“[Falwell] was very proud of the fact that even in the early years of the Moral Majority it was 30 percent conservative Roman Catholic.

[……]

At the discussion-based presentation, Winters talked to those gathered about how one of the amiable qualities of Falwell was his “capacity for friendship.”

“He has this incredible capacity for friendship, which extended to people who were not like-minded,” said Winters.

Winters noted as examples that Falwell’s friendships included people like Ted Kennedy, a liberal political figure, and Larry Flynt, a pornographer who fought Falwell in the courts over issues of defamation and libel.

“Every time he was in Los Angeles, Jerry Falwell would always visit Larry Flynt,” said Winters.

“When Falwell died, Flynt wrote this very moving tribute in the L.A. Times how ‘we agreed on nothing but he was my friend.'”

This above proves what I pretty much knew about Jerry Falwell. To be fair; I should point out that this was not always the case with Falwell. At one time, Falwell did preach the hardcore Fundamentalist stance on Biblical separation at one time. However, as Falwell became involved with politics, he toned down his message of separation. This was because Falwell knew that his hardcore stance on Biblical separation would not be popular with the Republican Party establishment. I also feel the need to point out that Jerry Falwell was a dishonest snake; I say this because of his baldfaced lies that he told to then-Pastor Jim Bakker, when he had his troubles with his Ministry. Falwell simply wanted the television network and nothing else. When Falwell saw that he could not get said network, he pushed that ministry into bankruptcy and washed his hands of it.

Compared to Ron Paul, the answer would be resounding yes.

Government Records $229 billion deficit for a month

Elections matter folks, this is why. Greece, here we come!

The U.S. government just notched its highest ever monthly deficit, with the red rink running to an estimated $229 billion in February.

The Congressional Budget Office, in a preliminary analysis, reported that the February 2012 deficit broke last year’s monthly record of $223 billion.

The office attributed the shortfall in part to a decline in revenue — mainly because of a $25 billion increase in income tax refunds thanks to disbursement timing issues.

According to the CBO, processing delays pushed refund payments that would have been distributed in January off into February. And the additional day in February this year allowed for extra refunds to be distributed during the month that otherwise would have been paid out in March.

The CBO projected that for the first five months of the fiscal year, the federal government is running a $578 billion deficit.

The projected deficit this year is once again projected to top $1 trillion

The only thing I can truly say about this one is this; elections matter. This is what happens when you put progressives and moderate Republicans in Government, they spend on your dime and you get stuck with the tab and most usually, you do not get a thing for it in return.  This is why we have to get people elected to political office, in City, State and Federal levels; who at the very least, have the American people’s interests in mind and not their own political fortunes in mind. Because when the political veterans are running the show; both Republican and Democratic Parties; this is what you get —- Debt.

China cannot buy our debt forever, or eventually they will own this Country. Not to mention, China is not exactly a free Country. All China would have to do, is tell the United States that they will not be buy anymore of our debt and we, as a Nation, would be history. We, as Conservatives have no one to blame, but ourselves for this fine mess.  The Republican Party elected a moderate Republican by the name of Richard Nixon, who wanted so badly to make a name for himself and that idiot liberal Republican just had to go to China and normalize relations with those Communist bastards. Which is pretty darned ironic, considering what the Communists in China did to John Birch.  This is one Conservative who felt Watergate was nothing more than sweet justice. (…and No, I am NOT being snarky!)

This why we the American people, the silent majority; need to vote differently this coming November. Our Nation’s future might just depend on it.

Venezuela Government outlaws gun sales

I guess it is supposed to be a shock or surprise.  But it is not really; I just wonder, and of  course, it is obligatory —- is this coming to America?

Anyhow, Simon Black at businessinsider.com has the low-down and the analysis: (H/T InstaWeirdo)

In recent remarks to the Latin American Herald Tribune, Venezuelan Interior and Justice Minister Tareck El Aissami announced that the government will begin suspending firearm importation, effective this month. Furthermore, local gunsmiths will no longer be able to market or sell firearms and ammunition.

According to El Aissami, “As of March, every last gun shop remaining in Venezuela – and there are less than 80 – should be closed. That is to say, in Venezuela, the perverse chapter of the commercialization of firearms and munitions is over.”

That ought to fix the problem. Murderous criminals obviously have no means of acquiring firearms illegally. And hapless victims clearly prefer to defend themselves with soup spoons and Tae Bo lessons.

Also, The truth about Guns Blog adds the following and boy is he ever right:

Pretty much. But as bad as the murders are – and as predictable as gun confiscation is for any self-respecting paragon of the international left – using the murder rate as the cause for the gun grab is really just a fig leaf. Chavez isn’t long for this world. His apparatchiks know it and they appear to be clearing the decks to make it easier to handle any general unrest that could develop when the news finally comes that Pugsley’s assumed room temperature. It’s a lot easier mowing down a crowd of protestors when they’re not shooting back at you.

You see this stuff right here is causes me to drone on like an old man about the left.  This here is what the far socialist left in this Country wants for the United States of America; and that is to revoke the second amendment in this Country.  Because the far socialist left in this Country knows that as long as there is a second amendment of the United States constitution and the citizens of the United States are armed, a true socialist revolution cannot occur.  This is why some Democrats have been working for many years to put more and stricter gun laws on the books.

Thankfully, because of some missteps in the past, most mainstream Democrats are not interested in fighting the battle of guns.  Most notably was the outlawing of “assault rifles” in the 1990’s, a law that was about broad based as it can get.  Thankfully, the Democrats learned their lesson on that little mistake, as they lost seats in both houses of Congress.  However, I just do not trust this President at all and that is because his ear is tuned to the far left.  Who is to say that some well-funded far left group would not start pressuring the White House to push for an outlawing of all guns in America?  Thankfully, it has not happened yet, but who is to say that it would not happen?

To be fair to the Democrats, there is some establishment Republicans who would most likely support a banning of all firearms as well.  Mainly it would be the moderate Republicans, who would argue that outlawing firearms would be for the so-called “greater good,” that the socialist left likes to tout as some sort of pseudo gospel of the socialist movement.  Admittedly, I am not as far to the right as some of my friends are in the blogging world.  However, when it comes to the second amendment and firearms, I am as far to the right as one can get.  You see, I happen to believe that big Government Statism is an evil thing, no matter who is in charge of it.  I like many of you; simply do not trust the Government at all.  I know what they did to Randy Weaver; I know what they did to the Branch Davidians and I know just how the federal Government can screw up.  This is why I advocate for an armed society.

My friends, being a gun advocate and supporting the second amendment is not Ron Paul craziness; that is simply Americanism at its finest.

I must take a stand for Israel

There is a time when one must be silent and there are times when one must speak out against what he knows is morally wrong; this is one of those times.

Those of you who are daily readers of this blog know that I voted for Ron Paul in the Michigan primary.  I did this mainly because of my personal Christian (as lousy as I am at that practice) convictions and my anti-statist convictions; believe me when I tell you, I know full well about Ron Paul’s position of Israel, I know full well about his idiotic position of terrorism and foreign policy.  I do not support that aspect of Ron Paul at all.  However, I was just not willing to throw out the baby with the bathwater, so to speak.

I am a very open-minded person, anyone who has followed my political blogging career, knows that.  However, I just will not tolerate blind hatred of Jews, Israel and its right to exist as its own state.  I am a born-again Christian of 29 years.  I happen to accept, believe, and will defend to my dying day; that land of Israel is for God’s chosen people.  I realize that some people might have a hard time believing that; but it is the truth and I would be willing to spend time in jail for the very purpose, if it ever became needful to do so.

Therefore, I am removing all links on this website to “The American Conservative.”  I respect the opinions of Rod Dreher and of Daniel Larison.  However, for me to have a link on this website to that website might signal to some that I totally agree with the editorial board with their position on Israel.  Let me state emphatically in the strongest terms that I can present to my readers.  Anyone who assumes that I agree with the idiotic position of the “American Conservative” is a moronic fool and does not know me or values that were instilled in me is a child in the Church.

The reason I have decided to this is that Scott McConnell, who is one of the founders of The American Conservative took to the magazine’s blog and boasted of the fact that he participated in the Anti-Semitic “Occupy AIPAC”  demonstration in Washington D.C.  This is inexcusable in my opinion, the occupy movement has been a hotbed of hatred, class warfare and Anti-Semitism.  If Mr. McConnell believes that the occupy movement is even remotely a Conservative movement or a pro-American movement then he has a serious problem.

If Rod Dreher and of Daniel Larison should ever decide to leave the American Conservative and blog elsewhere I will consider linking to their posting and writing about it on this blog.  Until this, I will not be linking to any of their writings anymore.  Because there is one thing that I will never support and that is Jew hatred and that is what this “occupy APIAC” is all about, hatred of Israel, hatred of Jews and hatred if everything related to that — including American’s capitalistic system.

Furthermore, I have removed Ron Paul’s graphic and link to his site from this blog.  As much as I agree with Ron Paul’s federalism, as much as I agree with Ron Paul’s disagreement with the Wilsonian foreign policy crowd.  I do not want to be associated with anyone who has associations with Jew haters and Ron Paul is often lauded by the American Conservative magazine.

I am an avid supporter of freedom of speech and diversity of political opinion, but there are just some political opinion and some kinds of speech that very unsuitable for mainstream consumption.  The American Conservative is one of those publications and I do not wish to be associated with it.  In other words, I would not link to neo-Nazi website on this blog, and I will not link to a website or publication that shares these sorts of views when it comes to Jews and Israel.

I believe that Ron Paul does not win Presidential elections for a very good reason, and this that I have highlighted is one of them.  For the record, I do not know that Ron Paul totally agrees with the nonsense spewed at this magazine or its website.  However, his position of Israel speaks volumes.  Again, my vote for Ron Paul was a protest vote against the big government statism that has become the norm in the Republican Party.  Nothing further, than that, should be derived, from my voting for Ron Paul.

I just will not support bigots, hate mongers, or racists; I was not raised to think like that, anyone who might have assumed anything other than that which I have written above; was quite highly mistaken.  My battle on this blog is limited to the far liberal left in this Country and its politics, how they poison the minds of the black community and other minorities as well.  My battle is not one of skin color at all.  Nor is it against the Jews or Israel.  If anyone happened to come to this blog and assumed that, you were wrong and I apologize for the confusion.
