Mitt Romney fires a shot across Newt Gingrich’s bow

Looks like Mittens is feeling the heat, perhaps from the flip flops and/or because of the recent polls and is firing back.

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — Mitt Romney landed here Sunday with a simple message: Newt Gingrich is a failure and a fraud. And a disgrace. And a hapless showman.

Standing under a brilliant orange Florida sunset, Romney delivered his longest sustained critique of the South Carolina primary winner to date — ticking through a list as if he were reading off Gingrich’s Wikipedia page, and undercutting each item as he got to it.

“Speaker Gingrich has also been a leader,” the former Massachusetts governor said. “He was a leader for four years as speaker of the House. And at the end of four years, it was proven that he was a failed leader and he had to resign in disgrace. I don’t know whether you knew that, he actually resigned after four years, in disgrace.

Romney continued: “He was investigated over an ethics panel and had to make a payment associated with that and then his fellow Republicans, 88 percent of his Republicans voted to reprimand Speaker Gingrich. He has not had a record of successful leadership.”

Then Romney got into Gingrich’s post-congressional career.

“Over the last 15 years since he left the House, he talks about great bold movements and ideas,” he told the crowd of several hundred people gathered at a building materials company here. “Well, what’s he been doing for 15 years? He’s been working as a lobbyist, yeah, he’s been working as a lobbyist and selling influence around Washington.

To be clear, Newt Gingrich is not a saint and as Geller put it, “He is a son-of-a-bitch, but he’s our Son-of-a-bitch.”  I know that personally I would rather vote for someone like Newt and hold my nose, than to vote for some idiot racist Mormon who worked for a Latin-American financed company that acted as corporate raiders. I am sorry, but that is simply Anti-American; the very idea that an American would sit at a table with Latin Americans to devise a plan to destroy American businesses is absolutely asinine and for this Mitt Romney should be held accountable.  However, because Fox News and others are in the tank for that creep, you will not hear a word about it and that my friends is the tragic thing about corporate media.

So, yes, you can put me in the “anyone but Mitt Romney” category.

Glenn Beck blows his back out

Poor Glenn Beck; the man leaves Fox News, because he made Rupert Murdoch worried and give Roger Ailes heartburn. So, he goes and sets up his own network, moves it and himself to Texas and what happens?  He blows four (*) three disks in his back out…. Ouch.

Anyhow, here’s the short version:

…..and the loooong version, where they talk his back and a whole bunch of other stuff:

Exit comments: First of all, blowing out four (*) three disks in your back, by just bending over and touching a pencil? Oy. Note to self: get something to grab stuff on the floor. Second of all; in the short video the dude said that he did it, when he jumped on a table and Glenn himself said it was from bending over to get a pencil. Someone needs to get their story straight!

Exit Question: Really happened or publicity stunt? I mean, he did fake out a bunch of people before, by faking boiling frogs.  I’m just sayin’ ya’ll! 😀

Update: * = When I first posted this, I watched the video first — I thought he said four disks, he said three. Oops. 😳

It’s Mitt in New Hampshire!

The Video: (H/T HotAir.com)

The Story:

Mitt Romney has won the New Hampshire primary, Fox News projects, notching back-to-back victories in the first two contests of the presidential nominating season.

Fox News also projects that Ron Paul will finish second and Jon Huntsman will finish third. Rick Perry is projected to finish in sixth place — the rest of the night is shaping up to be a race for fourth, between Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. Both candidates are pulling in 10 percent of the vote.

Also unclear is Romney’s margin of victory, though Fox News projects he will win by double digits. With 40 percent of precincts reporting, Romney is leading with 37 percent of the vote. Paul has 24 percent and Huntsman has 17 percent. — Romney Wins New Hampshire Primary, Fox News Projects | Fox News

Like I previously wrote; What other choice do Republicans really have? South Carolina will be a telling primary and challenge for Romney. But so far, I think he has the nomination in the bag.

Update: Now a Memeorandum Thread.

Video: Why I do not entirely trust Fox News

Anyone that reads the blog knows that, yes, I am a Christian. However, I find a good deal of the social Conservative movement to be troubling. Mainly, because of a big-Government statists that exist within those circles. A perfect example of this is Fox News and Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly.

Bill O’Reilly is also a social traditionalist or if you prefer a social conservative. While I believe that his intentions might be pure; he does have the mentality that the Government must protect its citizens from social perversion. I am afraid, as much as I enjoy watching Bill’s show and that Network; that this is a Statist mentality and files directly in the face of what true Conservatism is about.  This video also shows that Fox News channel is, just like its socialist counterparts at MSNBC and CNN; pursuing an agenda that includes outright false information.

Enjoy the video:

Again, I do not feel Fox News or Bill O’Reilly to be overly evil or anything. (little strange at times, maybe! 😉 ) I just disagree with his statism very highly.

As of now, I have zero respect for Jesse Ventura

Because of this: (H/T HotAir)

CONTENT WARNING! Language!

You want to know what a Ron Paul supporter acts like, want to know their mentality? Play the video.

This, my friends, is why I despise Ron Paul. Military or no Military; Ventura is a lying scumball.

It’s getting ugly between Gingrich and Romney

…and Gingrich does not disappoint with this shot across Romney’s bow: (Via CBS News)

Video:

Of course, the bad part was that Gingrich sort of stuck his own foot in his mouth, when he called Romney a liar and then turned right around and said he would support him if he were the GOP nominee. D’oh! 🙄

Lord Edward Morrissey
, who knows this stuff better than anyone, I think, saith the following:

Hey, not to rain on Gingrich’s parade, but how is that different than any other PAC or super-PAC? I’m pretty sure that Gingrich-supporting PACs aren’t run by disinterested strangers, nor are those for Rick Perry or any of the other candidates in the race. That’s a problem in the structure of the campaign finance regulations that impose artificial divisions on contributions. If those were removed, the same money would flow into these races, but the candidates themselves would be responsible for its use instead of hiding behind PACs and super-PACs — and that includes Newt Gingrich.

As I’ve written earlier, there is nothing wrong with so-called “negative” campaigning. Candidates should draw contrasts between their positions and those of their opponents, and their records as well. As long as that is being done honestly, there is nothing wrong or dishonorable about it; in fact, that’s why we have primaries. Gingrich chose to eschew that strategy and now wants to claim some kind of victimization because the rest of the field chose not to follow in his footsteps. On top of that, Gingrich has descended to name-calling, which looks more like a dog-in-the-manger ploy than a way to gather support in the few short hours before Iowa voters trudge to precincts tonight. A confident candidate wouldn’t have sunk to the level of this conversation the morning of a caucus.

Indeed.

Also too, I say this as a kid, who grew up in the inner city of Detroit; there is nothing funnier than watch to rich, white old guys fighting it out like school kids. I find it quite amusing. 😉 😛

Again, as it is has been written many times over in the right-wing political blogosphere and also said by others on Fox News; Gingrich is a thinker, a Conservative intellectual, if you will — but he is also a bomb thrower, who is not apt to thinking on his feet. This video above proves that. In other words, it is okay to be a bomb thrower, you just have to be able to run from the bomb, in the right direction! 😯 😛 😉 😀

Some thoughts on attacks on Republicans

Last night as I sat and watched the video of Alan Colmes attacking Rick Santorum something came to my mind and I thought I would write about it.  Folks, I believe that we should prepare ourselves for this sort of a thing.  The reason I say this is that the Democratic Party establishment knows that they are in a very bad way.  After all, their President has failed in every manner imaginable; his attempts to save the economy failed, his attempts to create more jobs failed, even his idiotic attempts to kick start green energy failed.  Therefore, seeing that their President is more vulnerable than Joe Louis on a bad night, the Democratic Party is going to go straight for the jugular and pull every dirty pool trick in the book.

Now, because I am not a hyper-partisan and because I do tend to like to deal in the truth, I will say this: Republicans and Conservatives should not be shocked when this happens.  Now why would I say this?  Because it just so happens that “Right” media in this Country did some of the very same things to President Obama when he was being elected.  What am I referring?  Well, there is Birther nonsense, the accusation that President Obama is gay, that he is a Muslim or even more libel — a terrorist, that he is a communist —- all of that stuff.

The problem is that the things that I mentioned above are usually done under the banner of “all is fair in love and war.”  The problem is that Conservatives and Republican do not mind doing to Democrats, because in their minds, the lies and half-truths are being done because of a love for the Country and because they want their candidate in the White House.  The problem is that when these sort of nasty attacks happen to Conservatives at the behest of the Democratic Party; the first thing that Conservatives do is hoist the red flag and cry, “Foul!”

The reason why I say this is that politics as AllahPundit so very well put it is a blood sport with much bloodlust involved. Again, the attack on Santorum was an extreme example of Democratic Party bloodlust, which surprisingly now has had some blowback effect, which is a good thing.  However, my fellow Conservatives, do not think that this is the end of it.  More of this sort of stuff is coming, so be prepared for it.  This is, after all just the primary season.  Wait till the general election comes, that is going to be mess.

Put simply, my point is this; “those who fling poo, should not be shocked or surprised when it is flung back at them.”

UPDATED: Alan Colmes should be fired for this

As much as I hate riding on their coattails. This bothers me.

Check out this video via HotAir.com:

Now watch this one:

AllahPundit, who I agree with quite a bit, says:

I don’t know where Colmes is getting the idea that they brought the baby’s body home to “play with it.” They brought him home because they wanted his siblings to understand that they had a brother who’d lived and died. Seeing him with their own eyes and having a few hours together as a family would bond them to his memory in a way that nothing else would. It’s not what most parents would do, but it’s not “crazy.”

I have to agree with that; Bloodthirsty Liberal says:

Let this be a lesson. We’ve all said things that turn to [bleep] the moment they leave our tongue. You just to have to own it and apologize. Colmes might have had plenty of material that was within bounds, but he was so tone deaf to civil discourse, it never occurred to him that it was, ahem, inappropriate to mock how a family chose to honor the memory of a stillborn child, much less acknowledge the monstrosity of his comment when challenged.

Fire Andrea Mitchel
l was not impressed either and quite frankly, as open minded as I can be; I found this to be very lame.

As I have written on here before, I am not too huge on Santorum for some very personal reasons. However, I felt this was totally over the top and highly uncalled for. For this, one thing must happen:

Alan Colmes must be fired from his job, once and for all.

How ironic is it, that now Rupert Murdoch and his lovely wife Wendy are now on Twitter. I think if everyone sent this link, that read this to Rupert and his Wife on Twitter with a polite, “please fire Alan Colmes” message, something could very well happen. It’s a long shot, but it is worth a try.

Again, I’m no Rick Santorum fan boy; but this….is just a bit much, even for this hard shell Baptist. 😡

Update: The Daley Gator says that Mr. Colmes is the Gilipollas of the Day — How very true.

Update #2: Mediaite is now reporting on this and it has become a Memeorandum thread.

Update #3: Smitty is reporting that Alan Colmes has reported that he apologized to Santorum. Sorry, not enough, he must go.

Prayers for these people

Sometimes while in a rush for the Holidays, we sometimes forget those who are less fortunate and/or are not having a good holiday. Having said that, I think we should all pray for this family here.

Via Fox News:

STAMFORD, Conn. –  A fire tore through the home of an advertising executive in a tony neighborhood along the Connecticut shoreline Sunday, killing her three children and both of her parents on Christmas morning.

Madonna Badger, who bought the large Victorian home last year, was able to get out of the house, along with an acquaintance.

Stamford Police Sgt. Paul Guzda said Badger’s three daughters — a 10-year-old and 7-year-old twins — were killed. He said her parents, who were visiting for the holiday, also died. Police officers drove Badger’s husband, Matthew Badger, from New York City to Stamford on Sunday morning.

God be with this Family. SadCryingPraying I could not imagine losing my family; much less on a Holiday. So sad. My prayers go to them.

Memo to Bill O’Reilly: stop the whining!

So some history folk find errors in Bill O’s book. What does he do? He plays the “They’re conspiring to get me!” card.

Quote:

Bill O’Reilly strongly defended his best-selling “Killing Lincoln” book on Monday after a Ford’s Theatre bookstore refused to sell it because of alleged historical inaccuracies.

The Fox News host told POLITICO that the attack on his book about President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination is “a concerted effort by people who don’t like me to diminish the book.”

In a historical review of “Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever,” Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site deputy superintendent Rae Emerson on Saturday slammed the book’s “lack of documentation and the factual errors within the publication.”

As a result, she recommended the National Park Service not stock “Killing Lincoln” on the shop’s shelves at Ford’s Theatre.

O’Reilly said he was speaking out about the controversy because “you ignore most of it but we were getting a little bit tired.”

He also shot back at Emerson’s claims about the book’s mistakes, saying there are just four errors in his 325-page work— and two of those are typos.

The alleged mistakes by O’Reilly and his co-author Martin Dugard start in the prologue and are found in other places in the book, according to Emerson’s analysis published in The Washington Post on Nov. 12. O’Reilly claims Ford’s Theatre burned to the ground in 1863 — but it actually happened on Dec. 30, 1862. He writes several times over that Lincoln held meetings or sat in the Oval Office — a nice image. It turns out, however, that the West Wing’s Oval Office wasn’t built until 1909 during President William Howard Taft’s administration, Emerson wrote.

Good grief, just admit you made a few mistakes and move on. What a two-year-old. Eye rolling smile
