A cop killed himself yesterday on his way home after finishing his shift in Queens — becoming the fourth NYPD officer to die by his own hand in less than a month, sources told The Post.
Matthew Schindler, 39, a 14-year veteran and married father of three kids, pulled his car over at about 4:30 p.m. on the eastbound side of the Long Island Expressway near Exit 40 in Jericho and shot himself under the chin, the sources said.
Minutes earlier, Schindler, a highway-safety officer, texted his sergeant to tell him he would not be seeing him anymore.
“He was one of the nicest people we ever met,” said a family friend, Ryan Proce, 38. “He’s just an all-around great guy.”
Fellow cops were called back to the 115th Precinct station house in Jackson Heights last night and told the tragic news.
Flags at the building were lowered to half-staff.
“Oh, God, not another one,” said Bill Genet, head of a volunteer group that counsels troubled cops.
It was the fourth suicide to hit the NYPD in 2012 and the second in eight days.
Awful. Just awful.…and I’m not being sarcastic either. This stuff happens when people lose all hope for living. Nothing is worth that man, nothing at all.

The Obama Administration’s $85 billion auto bailout in 2009 was “crony capitalism on a grand scale,” according to Mitt Romney.
In an opinion editorial published today by The Detroit News, the Republican presidential hopeful not only attacks the way the administration handled the bailout of General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC, but argues that the United Auto Workers union benefited from the bankruptcies in wake of contributing millions to Democrats and Barack Obama’s campaign.
“Thus, the outcome of the managed bankruptcy proceedings was dictated by the terms of the bailout,” Romney writes. “Chrysler’s ‘secured creditors,’ who in the normal course of affairs should have been first in line for compensation, were given short shrift, while at the same time, the UAWs’ union-boss-controlled trust fund received a 55 percent stake in the firm.”
I mean, the man is a serial flip-flopper, to the point when Jennifer Granholm, of all people, had to point this out. Now he is trying to appeal to the wealthy Republicans by capping the auto industry. The dude is a two-bit phony and I believe Michigan is getting hip to this. Which is why he is failing in the polls here. I am not a fan of Santorum either; but at least he is honest about what he actually is. But, no matter, neither of them will win to Obama. Which is why I believe we need a brokered Convention in the Republican Party. So we can put a real Conservative in there, a Tea Party candidate and not some beltway veteran.
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder says he is not looking to take over Detroit.
Rather, he says his newly-proposed budget will allow him to “partner” with Detroit and other distressed cities as he continues to “reinvent” Michigan.
“It is about us working together as a team,” Snyder told Mayor Dave Bing on Monday during a Detroit Economic Club luncheon at the Westin Book Cadillac hotel. “We need to provide basic services to our citizens.”
“…There are tough things that need to be done, but let’s do the tough things now so we don’t need to keep looking over our shoulder. We can build on a bright future.”
Snyder delivered those remarks as a 10-member review team continues to investigate Detroit’s finances ahead of possible intervention. Absent a 30-day extension, which they have not requested, the team will present its findings to Snyder at the end of the month.
Speaking with reporters after his speech, Snyder said he was pleased that Bing has reached tentative contract agreements with city unions, a key component of the mayor’s plan to resolve Detroit’s financial crisis without the need for an emergency manager.
Like I said, Rick Snyder has his work cut out for him; what with the Democrats in Michigan’s Congress and the liberal media here that is totally biased against him. Heck, even the Fox News affiliate here in Detroit, good old Fox 2 Detroit — is even biased against this Governor. I have said this before, and I will say it again — If Governor Snyder can pull this state back out of the cesspool that Democrat Jennifer Granholm put this state into; he will really be doing something. Hell, at this point; I will take half way back in one term and the rest in the next term.
However, if I know Michigan and the people around here like I do; Michigan will not elect another Republican Governor. Because the Democrat establishment around here demands to be kowtowed down to and if the Republican in office does not do this, he never gets elected. That is how it has been around here for a very long time. In other words, a Governor Scott Walker would never work around these parts. Further more, the Democrats around here and the liberal media, which is about every media outlet around here; are in cahoots together and they control the message. Perfect example, the article I linked to; just read how it is biased against the Governor, the whole wording of the article. No mention of Granholm’s disastrous term in office.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing what, if anything, Governor Snyder can do for the State. If anything, seeing how bad the Democrats screwed this State up.
Apple will launch the third version of the iPad on Wednesday 7 March at an event in San Francisco, according to a number of reports online. The reports also that the device will have a “retina” screen – with four times as many pixels as the current model – and could include 4G connectivity for US high-speed networks.
The website iMore says the device will have a quad-core processor – compared with the dual-core A5 chip in the current iPad model. The increased screen resolution would increase the apparent detail on images while not requiring software developers to rewrite their products.
The Wall Street Journal says that it will also include 4G connectivity (also known as “LTE”), which offers connections at up to 100Mbps but in smartphones have been found to be a serious battery drain.
The WSJ says that the LTE version will be sold through AT&T and Verizon, the two largest carriers in the US.
Apple told the Guardian that “Apple does not comment on rumours or speculation.”
Looks like AllahPundit will have to trade in that old iPod for a new one. (Heart-Ache!) But seriously, at the risk of sounding like a old fogie or even worse — a Liberal! 😯 I wonder, has it ever occurred to apple to release a product and keep that product on market the for a few years? I mean, it should have read something to the effect of, “The Catholic League will pay someone 1 million dollars, if someone will take this little black mocker of God out.” I believe it would have caused an uproar, but it would have gotten her and her managements attention.
A few days ago, Whitney Houston died of unknown causes. At the moment I found out, I thought, “How unfair.” For all Whitney’s problems and personal issues; she was still a wonderful talent that had so much more to give to her fans. Such is not the case with this idiot mocker of the Faith. So, seeing that I am a controversial blogger; I will say this — Here is hoping that this little classless black hoe meets the same fate as Whitney Houston and I mean very quickly. Anyone who mocks religion, does not deserve the breath the they keep in the lungs. This was not art; this was open mockery of Roman Catholicism, The Church, and Christianity in General.
Again, had this been a song about Islam and its repressive Religion, she would be in hiding; but, because it is a mockery of the Christian faith, The “LA CROWD” was fine with it. This tells you how far that the music industry, Hollywood and the L.A. Scene has fallen in the last 50 years. This wasn’t cool, this wasn’t ironic, this wasn’t funny, this wasn’t hip; this was a disgraceful attack on God, organized Religion in general, the Church as a concept, Christianity and the Roman Catholic Church. No illegal drugs have been found in the hotel room where Whitney Houston died — at least not yet — but prescription drugs were present, and it’s possible the singer drowned in the bathtub … TMZ has learned.
Sources tell us … when EMTs arrived Whitney’s body was already removed from the bathtub so it will take an autopsy to determine if she OD’d, drowned or died from some other cause.
Informed sources tell us … Beverly Hills cops — who were still searching the room at the time this story was posted — found various pill bottles. There was no evidence that Whitney was drinking alcohol in the room.
Whitney’s body was just removed from the room on a gurney. It will go to the morgue for an autopsy to determine cause of death.
Whitney Houston died this afternoon … a rep for the singer told the Associated Press.
Our sources tell us a member of Whitney’s entourage found her in her room at the Beverly Hilton hotel … and called hotel security — who then dialed 911. When paramedics arrived Houston was found unresponsive.
We’re told police arrived to the scene within minutes and fire was already there on an unrelated call. According to our sources, paramedics performed CPR but it did not work and she was pronounced dead at 3:55 PM.
Our sources say there were no obvious signs of foul play, but BH PD detectives have begun a full investigation. We’re told she was ID’ed by family and friends.
The singer famously battled drug addiction for years.
Houston was seen out in Hollywood on Thursday night … and she did not look well.
“I am absolutely heartbroken at the news of Whitney’s passing,” music producer Quincy Jones said in a written statement. “I always regretted not having had the opportunity to work with her. She was a true original and a talent beyond compare. I will miss her terribly.”
Needless to say, we won’t find out anytime soon what killed her. She was a voice from God and now she is back with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She was a Baptist and was raised in the Church. May she rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers go to the Huston family and her extended family as well.
Protesters at Friday’s “Occupy CPAC” event, organized by AFL-CIO and the Occupy DC movement, told The Daily Caller that they were paid “sixty bucks a head” to protest outside the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.
One protester told TheDC that all the “Occupy” activists were being paid to protest, and that his union, Sheet Metal Workers Local 100, approached him about the money-making opportunity.
“I have nothing nice to say about Local 100. … They just told me ‘you wanna make sixty bucks? So c’mon,’” the protester said.
Other “Occupy CPAC” protesters were unwilling to speak on camera because they were unaware what they were protesting and what the CPAC event was about.
Allow me to say this; as the son of a retired General Motors worker and retired member of the UAW —- is this is the best that the AFL-CIO can do for a protest? If this is the case, and I do fear that it is — then I do fear for the future of the labor movement. Because this is how lame, desperate — pick a damn adverb — that they have become. The once great AFL-CIO, which stood for the common man and made sure that crony capitalists were held in check; is now nothing more than a casting service for the far liberal left.
Another thing too; if the AFL-CIO is paying people to protest — my question is, what else are they planning on paying people to do? I mean, and I hate to be the one to say it — But these people are a part of the far liberal left, we used to call them communists. Anyhow, what else will they pay people to do? All I am going to say is this; it was a glitter bomb used here here recently on Mitt Romney, I just hope the secret service is up for the job. Because I will say this; in 1970 Walter Reuther‘s plane went down near Black Lake, Michigan. Most union people believe the plane was sabotaged. They also believe that the crony capitalists at the big three were responsible; I disagree with that. I believe the the communists did him in. Because in 1949, Reuther expelled the Communist-backed unions from the CIO. Who is to say, that they did not kill Reuther in an act of revenge? Communists, much like their brothers-in-arms — Muslim Terrorists — are very patient people and will wait for their moment of revenge, years if it takes that long.
Because you have to understand, these people on the far communist left; they know no valor, no morals — nothing. They are power hungry people and they have much invested in Barack Obama and they will stop at nothing to protect him. This is why I worry about whomever becomes the nominee of the GOP. Because in 2008, they had nothing really to lose. In 2012, it is another story; they have a whole bunch to lose. I am not saying that I have any sort of inside knowledge at all. However, I know these people and I know how they play their game. I just hope the GOP, the secret service and everyone else on the right is on their game. Because to be quite honest, in this election; I fear the worst. I don’t know why. But I do. You can call it a gut feeling that I have.
I just hope, for everyone’s sake — that I am wrong. 🙁
To be fair, some of the tactics that Andrew talks about here; have been used on me in the past — by those on the right. I am not the only one either. Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan and the John Birch Society; not to mention this blogger here have been victims of it as well. I mean, I know she has said things, that even made me cringe.
