More Neo-Conservative Imperialism

My friends, this is what happens, when you elect a President for all the wrong reasons.

The White House in December refused to accept the Environmental Protection Agency’s conclusion that greenhouse gases are pollutants that must be controlled, telling agency officials that an e-mail message containing the document would not be opened, senior E.P.A. officials said last week.

The document, which ended up in e-mail limbo, without official status, was the E.P.A.’s answer to a 2007 Supreme Court ruling that required it to determine whether greenhouse gases represent a danger to health or the environment, the officials said.White House Refused to Open Pollutants E-Mail – NYTimes.com

This my friends is a classic example of being so blinded by your personal ideology, that you refuse to listen to those, who might just know a little more about the said subject that yourself.

An Example:

Both documents, as prepared by the E.P.A., “showed that the Clean Air Act can work for certain sectors of the economy, to reduce greenhouse gases,” one of the senior E.P.A. officials said. “That’s not what the administration wants to show. They want to show that the Clean Air Act can’t work.”

The Bush administration’s climate-change policies have been evolving over the past two years. It now accepts the work of government scientists studying global warming, such as last week’s review forecasting more drenching rains, parching droughts and intense hurricanes as global temperatures warm (www.climatescience.gov).

But no administration decisions have supported the regulation of greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act or other environmental laws.

This is where I will give John McCain, his first and possibly only pass on this Blog. At least John McCain realizes that there is a problem with Global Warming, although his solutions to the problem, fall far short of the solutions purposed by the Democrats in congress and by the EPA.

This sort of willful blindness to the problems that we are facing as a Nation, and by the World as a whole, is what will put the Republican Party in the minority for a long time to come.

Telcom Companies gave $8K to Democrats who changed their vote on FISA

I do believe that if Keith Olbermann doesn’t do a special comment, he will do a segment on it tomorrow.

Quote:

Last week, on June 20, the House of Representatives approved a compromise bill to amend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA). The bill sets new electronic surveillance rules that effectively shield telecommunications companies from lawsuits resulting from the government’s warrantless eavesdropping on phone calls and viewing of emails of private citizens in the U.S. Approximately 40 lawsuits have been filed with potential damages totaling in the billions of dollars.

On March 14 of this year the House passed an amendment that rejected retroactive immunity for phone carriers who helped the National Security Agency carry out the illegal wiretapping program without proper warrants. Ninety-four House Democrats voted in favor of this measure–rejecting immunity–on March 14, then ‘changed’ to vote in favor of the June 20 House bill–approving immunity.

“Why did these ninety-four House members have a change of heart?” asked Daniel Newman, executive director of MAPLight.org, “Their constituents deserve answers.”SPOTLIGHT: Telco PACs Gave $8K to Dems Who Changed Their Vote on FISA – (via MAPLight.org)

This does not surprise me in the least. Special interest has been a part of Politics and Washington D.C. for a long time. Obama claims that he is fighting against this, but I somehow doubt it.

Unbelievable. So much for the Democrat’s idea of new politics, all this talk of hope and change, is nothing more than a well orchestrated sham.

From the Dept. of "Ya Think?"

A new report says what Keith Olbermann and many other “Liberal” media types said long ago…

This should be enough cause to Conservatives to NEVER, EVER pick a Neo-Conservative for a Presidential candidate.

Justice Department officials over the last six years illegally used “political or ideological” factors to hire new lawyers into an elite recruitment program, tapping law school graduates with conservative credentials over those with liberal-sounding resumes, a new report found Tuesday.

The blistering report, prepared by the Justice Department’s inspector general, is the first in what will be a series of investigations growing out of last year’s scandal over the firings of nine United States attorneys. It appeared to confirm for the first time in an official examination many of the allegations from critics who charged that the Justice Department had become overly politicized during the Bush administration.

“Many qualified candidates” were rejected for the department’s honors program because of what was perceived as a liberal bias, the report found. Those practices, the report concluded, “constituted misconduct and also violated the department’s policies and civil service law that prohibit discrimination in hiring based on political or ideological affiliations.”Report Sees Illegal Hiring Practices at Justice Department – NYTimes.com

Now, I’m just waiting for some person from some Conservative Blog to come here and tell me I’m wrong.

A Damning Article….

I want to bring an article to your attention. This article is found over at the McClatchy Washington Bureau, and it’s about an Taliban Ambassador, who welded power at Gitmo.

I am not going to quote it over here, at all. Because it requires the reader to look at the whole story. Now, I’ll let it be known, I have zero sympathy for this guy, he was and still is a member of the Taliban. Who was giving asylum to Osama Bin Ladin. However, the part that strikes me as very disturbing is how we abused their Religion, How we beat them, how we simply treated those people like dirt. Yes, I know we stopped, eventually. But it is the very fact, that we did abuse our prisoners of war.

This is a stain, that will never be removed from the consciousness of America. It is now our stain, our mistake, and we will pay for that mistake, for generations to come. We as Americans will forever be known, as the people who tortured our enemies and are just as bad as the empires of Vietnam, Japan, and other countries who partook in this awful practice. There was a time, when it was known that America did not allow this sort of thing, but that too, like many things in this great Country, are gone forever. Because of this, we are a worse Country for it.

It would be foolish and overly optimistic to think that we could overcome this sort of a blemish, but the fact remains that we brought this stain upon ourselves and it will take decades to even get this out of the active memory of those who wish to bring harm to this country.

I believe this Cartoon here, sums up my feelings:

Breaking News: FISA Deal Reached

Many of the Blogging Media outlets are reporting that a deal on FISA has been reached.

Most of the left is pissed, saying that it’s the same law that was rejected before. The Right seems to be pleased.

Should be interesting, to say the least.

Is this Barack Obama's Idea of Hope and Change and New Politics?

(H/T to WorldNetDaily)

Senator Barack Obama claims to be the Senator of Hope and Change, and of New Politics.

If this is the case, then what the heck do you call this? Click here, Please.

I mean, I can see people not liking the site, But threats? Foul Language? Why can’t Obama supporters handle criticism of their so-called “messiah?”

I mean, what else do we need to see, to finally figure out, that this man is nothing more than some sleazy Chicago politician?

At this point, he could be promising a million bucks for every US Citizen, I still wouldn’t vote for him. Not because he is black, but because he’s a fake, offering false hope, and pipe dreams, idealism and smoke and mirrors. All the while taking your money and laughing behind your back.

If that Bastard gets elected, I fear the direction that this country will take. He must be defeated. There is no more question about, he must be defeated at ALL costs.

Bush, McCain, Republicans, do the ultimate flip flop….

In the ultimate flip flop, Juan McSame and the Republicans, have done a complete 360 on an Issue. Offshore Oil Drilling.

This is from the same party, who highlighted John Kerry on a wind sail, which was flipping back and forth, and they used that, as one of the biggest examples of his leadership.

This is the same party which claims that “staying the course” and not giving up, in Iraq, is the only solution to the supposed, “War on terror”.

Now, Who’s the flip flopper?

Technorati Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

About all this Obama/McCain back and forth….

I don’t expect me to comment on all that crap, at least not too often.

The reason is, because sheer stupidity of it all, is about deafening.

When Obama comes out with some specifics of HOW exactly he is going to change this country from this stiff veer that it is taking off this Bush-made cliff, then I might have something positive to say about him, but all I ever hear is vagueness, idealism, and smoke and mirrors.

I don’t want to be told to “Just go to Obama’s Website”, I want to hear it out of HIS mouth, of how HE intends to change this country, I want to hear specifics. Not just fluffy speeches, but cold, hard, facts.

Until I hear this, he’s nothing more, to me, than just some inexperienced, empty suit, Idealist politician.

Things are changing in Iraq

I apologize for the stoppage of Blogging. But the Tim Russert story kind of jarred me quite a bit. in fact, I had to turn the TV to CNN, I just couldn’t not bear watching the stuff at MSNBC anymore. (Yeah, I know, I fired up John Cole for what he said, there’s a difference between me saying I had to change the channel, and taking a nasty swipe at a dead man.)

However, the world, the news, and life does go on, while I will miss Tim Russert’s show and his style of punditry, I must move on….

It seems that things are changing in Iraq.

The Report from the Washington Post:

The Bush administration’s Iraq policy suffered two major setbacks Friday when Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki publicly rejected key U.S. terms for an ongoing military presence and anti-American Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr called for a new militia offensive against U.S. forces.

During a visit to Jordan, Maliki said negotiations over initial U.S. proposals for bilateral political and military agreements had "reached a dead end." While he said talks would continue, his comments fueled doubts that the pacts could be reached this year, before the Dec. 31 expiration of a United Nations mandate sanctioning the U.S. role in Iraq.

The moves by two of Iraq’s most powerful Shiite leaders underscore how the presence of U.S. troops has become a central issue for Iraqi politicians as they position themselves for provincial elections later this year. Iraqis across the political spectrum have grown intolerant of the U.S. presence, but the dominant Shiite parties — including Maliki’s Dawa party — are especially fearful of an electoral challenge from new, grass-roots groups.

CNN’s Michael Ware, who is in Iraq offers this interesting perspective:

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo54NhiyQig&hl=en]

If Ware is even correct and these talks continue to stall, I look for Bush to just pull our troops out and let Iraq go at it alone. I just do not think that Bush is going to dump the Iraq War into the laps of the Democrats. I just do not think that he wants that on his legacy. I could be wrong, but if this is case, I got a sneaking suspicion you will see a unilateral withdrawal of our troops out of Iraq, before Bush leaves office.
