WSJ: Nancy Pelosi's New Health-Care Bill "Worst Bill Ever"
The graphs that I posted earlier gave the indication of how bad things are going to be. This confirms it:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi has reportedly told fellow Democrats that she’s prepared to lose seats in 2010 if that’s what it takes to pass ObamaCare, and little wonder. The health bill she unwrapped last Thursday, which President Obama hailed as a “critical milestone,” may well be the worst piece of post-New Deal legislation ever introduced.
In a rational political world, this 1,990-page runaway train would have been derailed months ago. With spending and debt already at record peacetime levels, the bill creates a new and probably unrepealable middle-class entitlement that is designed to expand over time. Taxes will need to rise precipitously, even as ObamaCare so dramatically expands government control of health care that eventually all medicine will be rationed via politics.
Yet at this point, Democrats have dumped any pretense of genuine bipartisan “reform” and moved into the realm of pure power politics as they race against the unpopularity of their own agenda. The goal is to ram through whatever income-redistribution scheme they can claim to be “universal coverage.” The result will be destructive on every level—for the health-care system, for the country’s fiscal condition, and ultimately for American freedom and prosperity.
As much as I hate repeating myself. Elections have consequences; as do running moderate Republican Candidates. This is one of them. Statism. Welcome to it.

Think all this spending and Healthcare won't raise your Taxes?
Think again…
This comes via the Tax Prof:
Q & O chimes in:
So when you hear that all this new spending, which will indeed raise the deficit, won’t raise your taxes by a single “dime”, you can believe it if you wish. But that doesn’t mean it is true. And it certainly doesn’t mean Democrats can keep that promise. Because if they do, they’re simply kicking the same can down the road that Republicans have for years (and no, I’m not advocating massive tax increases, I’m just providing a little reality check to counter the nonsense the politicians continue to spout). The alternative to the tax rates above is to cut spending – drastically. If you see that on the horizon you’re the only one because Congress just raised the debt ceiling – again.
Where this means anything to me, is this. Not only would they have to raise taxes on the very wealthy. They would have to raise on people who are middle class and poor as well. So, as many Conservative Bloggers have pointed out in the past; when a Nation engages in statism and enacts those sort of policies —- everyone pays. From the very wealthy, to the extremely poor. You also pay with the loss of your liberty; what which is something that the statist socialist liberal Democrats find to be a quaint idea, that needs to be modernized.
Why something needs to be done about HealthCare
Including public option, if need be.
This is from my debit card statement:
| 11/02/2009 | POINT OF SALE PURCHASE KROGER (redacted) MI | Debit | Price $38.53 | Account Total $92.95 |
Want to know what that is from? That from my medication that I take for A.D.H.D. If it had not been for the various donations that I have received in the last few days and in the past. You know who would be stuck paying for my medication? My Parents. For what it is worth; that price is from Kroger’s. I went there because where I was going before went up. So, like I have written before; I am not to wild on the idea of a “Public Option”, but this paying out of pocket for medication is getting pretty old.
On a happier note; check out this drag racing video, that I posted here a while back.
Nancy Pelosi's Obamacare Bill is chock full of Taxes
Seriously, it is the classic class warfare nonsense that the Democrats are known for.
The Americans for Tax Reform has the Taxes outlined:
- Employer Mandate Excise Tax (Page 275): If an employer does not pay 72.5 percent of a single employee’s health premium (65 percent of a family employee), the employer must pay an excise tax equal to 8 percent of average wages. Small employers (measured by payroll size) have smaller payroll tax rates of 0 percent (<$500,000), 2 percent ($500,000-$585,000), 4 percent ($585,000-$670,000), and 6 percent ($670,000-$750,000).
- Individual Mandate Surtax (Page 296): If an individual fails to obtain qualifying coverage, he must pay an income surtax equal to the lesser of 2.5 percent of modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) or the average premium. MAGI adds back in the foreign earned income exclusion and municipal bond interest.
- Medicine Cabinet Tax (Page 324): Non-prescription medications would no longer be able to be purchased from health savings accounts (HSAs), flexible spending accounts (FSAs), or health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs). Insulin excepted.
- Cap on FSAs (Page 325): FSAs would face an annual cap of $2500 (currently uncapped).
- Increased Additional Tax on Non-Qualified HSA Distributions (Page 326): Non-qualified distributions from HSAs would face an additional tax of 20 percent (current law is 10 percent). This disadvantages HSAs relative to other tax-free accounts (e.g. IRAs, 401(k)s, 529 plans, etc.)
- Denial of Tax Deduction for Employer Health Plans Coordinating with Medicare Part D (Page 327): This would further erode private sector participation in delivery of Medicare services.
- Surtax on Individuals and Small Businesses (Page 336): Imposes an income surtax of 5.4 percent on MAGI over $500,000 ($1 million married filing jointly). MAGI adds back in the itemized deduction for margin loan interest. This would raise the top marginal tax rate in 2011 from 39.6 percent under current law to 45 percent—a new effective top rate.
- Excise Tax on Medical Devices (Page 339): Imposes a new excise tax on medical device manufacturers equal to 2.5 percent of the wholesale price. It excludes retail sales and unspecified medical devices sold to the general public.
- Corporate 1099-MISC Information Reporting (Page 344): Requires that 1099-MISC forms be issued to corporations as well as persons for trade or business payments. Current law limits to just persons for small business compliance complexity reasons. Also expands reporting to exchanges of property.
- Delay in Worldwide Allocation of Interest (Page 345): Delays for nine years the worldwide allocation of interest, a corporate tax relief provision from the American Jobs Creation Act
- Limitation on Tax Treaty Benefits for Certain Payments (Page 346): Increases taxes on U.S. employers with overseas operations looking to avoid double taxation of earnings.
- Codification of the “Economic Substance Doctrine” (Page 349): Empowers the IRS to disallow a perfectly legal tax deduction or other tax relief merely because the IRS deems that the motive of the taxpayer was not primarily business-related.
- Application of “More Likely Than Not” Rule (Page 357): Publicly-traded partnerships and corporations with annual gross receipts in excess of $100 million have raised standards on penalties. If there is a tax underpayment by these taxpayers, they must be able to prove that the estimated tax paid would have more likely than not been sufficient to cover final tax liability.
You see, this is why I am against a Government-run public healthcare system…..and I have no health insurance, at all. Why? Because as Ed Morrissey puts it:
“Has the middle class discovered the biggest lie of the Obama campaign yet? When statist policies get imposed, everyone pays. Everyone.”
What I am trying to say here is this; I have no health insurance at all. But the last thing I want, is my healthcare coming out of the pocket of anyone else; especially the middle class, like my parents, or more specifically my Dad. Who worked his ass off for 31 years at General Motors and earned his nice Healthcare insurance plan that he has. Why could I want to steal it or see him double and triple taxed; just so I can have insurance too. It just is not fair to him.
Some may think that I am silly to think this way. But to me, it would UnChrist-like to steal for anyone, just so I can say. Yes, I have insurance. It is nothing more than Class warfare and generational theft. Case Closed.
Update: Thanks to Karl Lembke for pointing my rather silly grammar error. 😛
Joe Lieberman says that he will back GOP filibuster of Senate Healthcare Bill
I have an idea as to why Lieberman is doing this; well, I have several different ideas:
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Tuesday that he’d back a GOP filibuster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s health care reform bill.
Lieberman, who caucuses with Democrats and is positioning himself as a fiscal hawk on the issue, said he opposes any health care bill that includes a government-run insurance program — even if it includes a provision allowing states to opt out of the program, as Reid has said the Senate bill will.
“We’re trying to do too much at once,” Lieberman said. “To put this government-created insurance company on top of everything else is just asking for trouble for the taxpayers, for the premium payers and for the national debt. I don’t think we need it now.”
Lieberman added that he’d vote against a public option plan “even with an opt-out because it still creates a whole new government entitlement program for which taxpayers will be on the line.”
His comments confirmed that Reid is short of the 60 votes needed to advance the bill out of the Senate, even after Reid included the opt-out provision. Several other moderate Democrats expressed skepticism at the proposal as well, but most of the wavering Democratic senators did not go as far as Lieberman Tuesday, saying they were waiting to see the details.
Lieberman did say he’s “strongly inclined” to vote to proceed to the debate, but that he’ll ultimately vote to block a floor vote on the bill if it isn’t changed first.
“I’ve told Sen. Reid that if the bill stays as it is now I will vote against cloture,” he said.
via Joe Lieberman: I’ll block vote on Harry Reid’s plan – Manu Raju – POLITICO.com.
Here is my official theory as to why Lieberman is doing this. For one; I believe that Lieberman is doing this to get back at the Senate Majority leader for his scolding of him for supporting John McCain during the 2008 election. Another theory I have is that Lieberman is attempting to garner support amongst the Conservative leadership on the hill. Maybe Lieberman is going to try for a run as a moderate to Liberal Republican in the not-so-distant future in the Senate. Either that, or Lieberman knows that he will never be elected as a Republican or a Democrat ever again and he is doing this, thinking that it will, someday be seen as his last great feat to save the Country from out of control socialism.
Either way, I believe that any chance of Lieberman getting back into the Democratic Party just totally dissolved. At this point, if I were a Democrat, I would want Lieberman’s head on a platter.

Georgia Oyster bar owner not telling the truth about being a racist
I would normally come to the defense of this guy’s right to freedom of speech.
But, with the awesome power of Google. I have made a discovery.
Mr. Oyster Bar owner in Georgia, who put out the sign, saying that Obama was going to “Nigger Rig” the Healthcare system; is flatly lying about not being a racist.
…and how do I know this? The wonderful power of google….
Lookie what I found by simply doing a search of the place in question:
ATTN: ALL KLANSMEN – NO MATTER WHICH GROUP YOU BELONG TO.
——————————————————————
On the 4th of July weekend in Paulding County, Ga. We are planning on having the “Georgia White Pride Picnic/ Rally”. It will be held on the property of the Georgia Peach Oyster Bar and Museum (Pat Lanzo’s restaraunt).
Pat has allowed people to have rallies and what not at his plave for the past 21 years. JB Stoner and Mr Spivey used to have them there.
All Klansmen are invited. Other White Nationalists are too, but we need a Klan group who would be willing to do a cross-lighting for us.
——————————————————————-Please PM if you are interested in helping or have any suggestions/ideas.
Where did I find this? None other than Stormfront.org. I linked to it via Google cache, in case the message disappears.
I mean, it is one thing to be a racist; but it is another to flatly lie about it, to a black woman no less, with a Klansman mannequin in your bar. I mean, Seriously? Good Lord. 🙄
The point I am making here is this; free speech is a good thing. Hate is not, neither is flatly lying about not being a racist.
Update: Not Surprisingly, Stacy McCain spins for the guy. Nuance.

Keith Olbermann talks about healthcare
Unlike some other Blogs; who’s malfeasance is supposedly mocking of those on the other side of the Political Debate, not to mention supposedly Conservative politics —— I am not posting this entire video series and transcript to mock, to deride, or even make light of. I am simply posting this, because I can relate to this story and to the emotions that this man is feeling.
As someone who does not have Healthcare insurance, at all; I agree with various parts of this Video. Naturally, there are parts of this rather long commentary that I highly disagree with, which parts are only the business of myself and not yours.
For those of you who come here via Twitter, StumbleUpon, Digg or even Reddit; and would look at this posting and have the desire to want to deride me, as some sort of faux Conservative or even patriot and possible desire to inform me of this. To save you the time, effort and possibly internet bandwidth; I give the shortest, straight from the hip, tell it like it is statement…:
Go Fuck Yourself
Here is Keith’s Special Comment on Healthcare, in it’s entirety…and if you come here and fail to watch this entirety; or at least read the entire god damned transcript; then, quite frankly, this might not be your kind of a blog and you should act likewise.
