Teletubbies?!?!

HEH:

Detroit — Riley Sheahan, the Red Wings’ No. 1 draft pick in 2010, reportedly was wearing a Teletubbies costume at the time he was pulled over shortly before midnight on Oct. 29, driving the wrong way in downtown Grand Rapids.

“Teletubbies” was a PBS children’s program that was produced from 1997 to 2002.

Sheahan, 20, had a blood-alcohol content of .30, nearly four times the legal limit and twice the threshold for the “super-drunk” charge he faces for his arrest, MLive reported. Sheahan also had identification of Brendan Smith, another Red Wings draft pick who will join the Wings once the NHL lockout is over, at the time of the arrest.

UPDATED: FOUND!: Local Story: Have you seen this kid?

Via the Detroit Free Press:

Police in Clinton Township are searching for a 15-year-old emotionally impaired teenager who has been missing for a week.

Dakota Strine has run away before, according to police and his mother, Kelly Rowland, 39. But Rowland said he’s never been gone for this long.

“We’ve always found him within an hour. But he’s been gone over a week, including missing a holiday,” she said.

Clinton Township Police Capt. Richard Maierle said Friday that Dakota lives with a guardian near his mother’s home in the area of 15 Mile and Kelly roads. He said the teenager went to take out the trash Nov. 16 and didn’t come back.

Maierle said Dakota may have run away and could be at a friend’s house.

“We have no indication whatsoever that he’s been in any physical harm or was abducted or anything like that,” Maierle said.

Here is his physical description:

Dakota is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 158 pounds and has light brown hair and hazel eyes. Rowland said he was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and black and blue tennis shoes.

If you happen to run across the young man, you should really do the following:

Anyone with information should call Clinton Township police at 586-493-7900.

I do these kind of posts as a public service to the community around here. I will be praying that these people will find their son. Not being able to find a kid is a nightmare, and I would not wish it upon anyone.

Update: Fox 2 Detroit is reporting the following via Facebook:

BREAKING NEWS: 15-year-old Cody Strine of Clinton Township has been found unharmed. Police confirm that he is safe and back with his family right now. Stay with FOX 2 as we learn more about this story’s happy ending!

Thank goodness! 😀

Larry Hagman RIP

You might find this amusing that I am covering this; but Larry Hagman was a big part of my life in the 1980’s. You see, Dallas followed the Duke’s of Hazzard, which I watched every week.

The Story via Dallas News:

Larry Hagman, who played the conniving and mischievous J.R. Ewing on the TV show Dallas, died Friday at Medical City in Dallas, of complications from his recent battle with cancer, his family said.

He was 81.

“Larry was back in his beloved Dallas re-enacting the iconic role he loved most,” his family said in a written statement. “Larry’s family and close friends had joined him in Dallas for the Thanksgiving holiday. When he passed, he was surrounded by loved ones. It was a peaceful passing, just as he had wished for. The family requests privacy at this time.”

The role of J.R. transformed Mr. Hagman’s life. He rocketed from being a merely well-known TV actor on I Dream of Jeannie and the son of Broadway legend Mary Martin, to the kind of international fame known only by the likes the Beatles and Muhammad Ali.

Mr. Hagman made his home in California with his wife of 59 years, the former Maj Axelsson. Despite obvious physical frailty, he gamely returned to Dallas to film season one and part of season two of TNT’s Dallas reboot.

Friends were in shock Friday, especially those who saw him only days ago. But those close to him say he knew the end was coming and he was glad to have his family in town for Thanksgiving.

One thing you have to know about Larry Hagman is this, he was no flunky actor, he was a professionally trained actor from the old school. He was a veteran of the Broadway stage long before he was ever a TV actor. He really knew his chops, and due to his southern upbringing, he took to the role of J.R. Ewing like a duck to water. The awesome thing about that role is that Larry Hagman made it absolutely believable. The show and JR Ewing were a part of the American culture in the 1980’s. Sure, it was Hollywood’s way of mocking the wealthy, but that was what Hollywood did; nothing hurtful or sinister, just harmless comedy and a bit drama on this show.

Larry Hagman, a great actor, and big part of American culture is now gone. Rest in Peace, Mr. Ewing, you have more than earned it.

Sick: Abortion Mill Planned Parenthood in Florida offers black friday coupon

This comes via LifeNews:

A Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in southern Florida is offering a black Friday discount — including $10 off a visit to the abortion center today.

Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast offered the special, saying, “Visit our West Palm Beach or Kendall Health Center for special after Thanksgiving savings on Friday, November 23rd.”

Sickening, Kill your baby on black Friday!

Pro-life blogger Jill Stanek noticed the Black Friday discount and responded, “Planned Parenthood brings new meaning to the term, “Black Friday,” doesn’t it?”

This is the same abortion business where the chair of the national Democratic party headlined a small rally last year.

But yet, we Conservative Christians are the knuckle dragging, backward, heartless types. These bastards have no shame at all. This crap right here, is why I abandoned the Democratic Party. This and the utter disrespect of our Military.

Ed Morrissey leaves the North American Radio Alliance Network

This one stopped me in my tracks. Surprise

Ed Morrissey, who is, in this writer’s opinion, one of the better Conservative writers out there; is now leaving the NARN, after almost nine years on the air. Sad

Ed explains why:

So why leave? I’ve decided to take on some new pursuits, especially in catechesis and service within my faith. That will take a considerable amount of time over the next couple of years at least — and perhaps longer than that. That means I need to clear some time for myself and my family on the weekends.

I just want to go on the record and say that I, for one, enjoyed watching Ed and Mitch Berg on Saturdays. It was a nice respite from the weekly grind of writing about politics. The shows were political, but they were hardly ever mean-spirited. I can only remember one time, where Ed had to get ugly with a caller, who was a liberal and wanted to argue over something rather stupid. Ed did put the caller in his place, but he was not mean or nasty about it.

Mitch Berg is however announcing that show will go on:

As Ed noted yesterday, he’s leaving the Northern Alliance Radio Network after nearly nine years on the air.

I’ve had people ask “so what’s next?”

Lots!

For starters – I’ll probably focus a little harder on Minnesota issues.  AM1280 currently carries Bill Bennett, Mike Gallagher, Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Miller and Mark Levin – so we’ve got the national stuff triple-covered; Minnesota just elected two chambers of liberals in its legislature, Something’s gotta stand in the way off Minnesota becoming a cold California, a Greece with bland tan food.  If that’s us?  Well, someone’s gotta do it.

I am sure that Mitch will do well solo and I wish him the best in his new role. But, for this Democrat turned Independent Conservative; it just will not be the same.

The reason I write this is because of the following:

Way back in the early part of 2007, I had written for just about a year as skeptical left of center type. Anyhow, I had found myself in a crisis. I had decided that the Democratic Party was simply not, where I wanted to be anymore. The Party’s disrespect of the Military, the thought that Homosexuality was somehow normal; the idea that the killing unborn children was simply a-okay. All of these things conflicted with my Christian Faith. This, together with the economic meltdown that took place later that year, were the deciding factors in me changing my politics in a very big way.

Anyhow, I casually started listening to Ed and Mitch on Saturday’s. I also would listen and watch Ed’s show during the week too. I did not always agree with everything that was said, I still don’t!  Ed also knew about me, and my background. Never once did he ever try to run me off; he let me hang around and you know what? I am an Independent Conservative today because of that. I will always be grateful for kindness Ed showed me, despite my background. There are a few bloggers out there, on both sides, that could stand to learn a few lessons from Mr. Morrissey.

Again, I wish Mitch the best, but I will always miss that little show on Saturdays.
