Already? iPad 3 to be released on March 7

Goodness, a new one, already?

Apple will launch the third version of the iPad on Wednesday 7 March at an event in San Francisco, according to a number of reports online. The reports also that the device will have a “retina” screen – with four times as many pixels as the current model – and could include 4G connectivity for US high-speed networks.

The website iMore says the device will have a quad-core processor – compared with the dual-core A5 chip in the current iPad model. The increased screen resolution would increase the apparent detail on images while not requiring software developers to rewrite their products.

The Wall Street Journal says that it will also include 4G connectivity (also known as “LTE”), which offers connections at up to 100Mbps but in smartphones have been found to be a serious battery drain.

The WSJ says that the LTE version will be sold through AT&T and Verizon, the two largest carriers in the US.

Apple told the Guardian that “Apple does not comment on rumours or speculation.”

Looks like AllahPundit will have to trade in that old iPod for a new one. (Heart-Ache!) But seriously, at the risk of sounding like a old fogie or even worse — a Liberal! 😯 I wonder, has it ever occurred to apple to release a product and keep that product on market the for a few years? I mean, this buying the newest, latest and greatest must wear on people. Not to mention that I would imagine that it does wear on people’s wallets! Yeah, I know, they offer credit for trades; but still, you have to pay the difference and I can imagine that is not cheap.

I think I will stick to my iPod. 😉

…and no, I am not a liberal either! It’s worse, much worse than that…. I’m a tightwad! 😀

Oh My: Feds Close Megaupload

Wowzers:

The federal authorities on Thursday announced that they had charged seven people connected to the Web site Megaupload, including its founder, with running an international criminal enterprise centered on copyright infringement on the Internet.

According to a grand jury indictment, Megaupload — one of the most popular “locker” services on the Internet, which lets users anonymously transfer large files — generated $175 million in income for its operators through subscription fees and advertising, while causing $500 million in damages to copyright holders.

Four of the seven people, including the site’s founder Kim Dotcom, born Kim Schmitz, have been arrested in New Zealand, the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Thursday; the three others remain at large. The seven — who a grand jury indictment calls part of a “Mega Conspiracy” — have been charged with five counts of copyright infringement and conspiracy, the authorities said.

Possibly one of the funniest iPad questions ever

Seeing AP is having the iPad orgasm blues or something to that effect. I thought I would share with you one of the funnier questions related to the iPad yet.

This comes via David Pogue over at the ol’ Grey Lady:

Q: I read that it has a fingerprint-resistant screen, but then you said the fingerprints show up disgustingly. What’s the real story?

A: Fingerprints are greasily, streakily visible when you turn off the screen. But the iPad has the same oleophobic (oil-resistant) coating as the iPhone, so all the streaks disappear with a single firm wipe on your pants leg.

Someone tell the person that asked that rather funny question, that you are not supposed to be playing with your, ahem, iPad, when you have your fingers into a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken. 🙄

That is, of course, unless you are into such things. 😯

Just a thought. 😀
