…and right on schedule

Alex Jones seeks to capitalize on the deaths the innocent.

It is too bad that Alex Jones, his Jewish wife and children were not in that theater. What? you say that’s too harsh?! Well, I happen to think that publishing that sort of tripe 1 day after a horrible massacre is harsh too; but he did it. So, I figure, if he can be harsh, so can I.

Just my way of sticking my “virtual finger” in the eye of a man who is quite possibly the biggest charlatan, outside of maybe Bernie Madoff or that phony preacher Jim Bakker.

Special Comment: When facts become passé

Unless you have been living under a rock somewhere, you most likely know about the tragic events that have taken place out in Aurora, Colorado on Friday June 21, 2012. The magnitude and scope of this horrific event have not even begun to settle in with the Nation, not to mention the world. The families of the dead are just now being notified, and the crime scene is still gone over by the police department and the FBI, ATF and many others. This horrific tragedy will forever be associated with this Batman Movie. Because of the tragic events in Colorado; no one, not matter who they are; myself included, will never be able to walk into a movie theater and feel safe ever again.

As many of you know, I once was a Democratic Party voter. I voted for that party from the time I was eligible to vote, until 2008. I am 40 years of age, so that should give you an idea of how long I have been voting. So, when I see someone who is supposed to be a respected movie reviewer, exploiting this horrific and tragic event to further his own political agenda — I have to wonder, has the left gone that mad?

I am of course, referring to Roger Ebert, of whom, at one time, I actually respected as a film reviewer — posting an opinion piece in the New York Times, which is supposedly the paper of record, on this event in Aurora, Colorado. In this piece, Roger Ebert condemns the right, condemns those who own guns, and dismisses the notion that anyone really should own a gun at all. This is typical boilerplate progressivism and liberal Democrat gruel from people like Ebert and I usually do not get bothered by such things.

However, when I see Ebert and people like him, actually resorting to the distortion of fact, I really have to wonder. Case in point, Ebert writes the following in his piece:

That James Holmes is insane, few may doubt. Our gun laws are also insane, but many refuse to make the connection. The United States is one of few developed nations that accepts the notion of firearms in public hands. In theory, the citizenry needs to defend itself. Not a single person at the Aurora, Colo., theater shot back, but the theory will still be defended.

Okay, this is where I actually have to correct a man, who is supposedly a respected writer and film critic. Here is the truth from the media:

Via USA TODAY:

James Eagan Holmes, 24, legally bought the four weapons he allegedly used. Police said he opened fire in a suburban Denver theater with four sold-out showings of the premiere of the Batman movie Dark Knight Rises. He was dressed head-to-toe in black bullet-proof gear, including helmet, vest, leggings and a groin and throat protector. He wore a gas mask, goggles, and black gloves.

You see, Roger Ebert omitted the fact that this man was wearing armor to protect himself from being shot at in the theater. Therefore, it would not have mattered at all, if someone would have shot back at him or not — that is unless someone was shooting armor piercing ammunition, which is generally not available to the public, unless someone happens to have an old stash of it. This is because of our over reactionary Government decided to outlaw those types of bullets after the North Hollywood Bank shootout that happened in 1997. This resulted in the outlawing of automatic assault rifles and armor piercing bullets. The ban on the assault rifles expired, but the ban on armor piercing bullets never did. This would leave someone unable to defend himself or herself against an attacker wearing body armor.

I do not believe this attempt to cover this little known fact up is an isolated incident. I believe as time goes on, the fact that he was wearing body armor is going to be buried by the media for a reason. The United Government does not want the American people to know that if someone in that theater, had been armed with armor piercing bullets, this killer could have, and would have been stopped dead cold in his tracks. Not to sound like an devotee of the “Alex Jones school for mental awareness” or anything; but, the fact is that we are living in a bit of a police state, where even the simplest of calls for things like domestic violence can get a swat team sent to someone’s house.

I believe this not to be an accident, our Government wants to have an upper hand on its citizens, and they are doing this by restricting access to those kinds of bullets. Because logic would tell one, that if an law enforcement officer knew that someone had this sort of ammunition, that they would be less inclined to perform some of the unconstitutional acts against the citizens of this Country that has been documented on various websites, including this one here.

This is what, we as Constitutional Conservatives, must fight against, the seizing of our freedom to own and possess a firearm. If left unchecked, laws that diminish our freedoms will be passed. If it were left to the “Liberal left” in this Country, we would be much like Europe, where there are no guns at all; and the only ones who own them would be criminals. This is our mandate going forward, even if Mitt Romney is elected, we must fight against those who would pressure the President to restrict gun ownership.

As Conservatives, we all know that love for this great Country of ours is imperative. However, blind, child-like trust of our Government is a futile mistake —– just ask Randy Weaver.

Kudos to Keith Olbermann

For having the courage to stand up against his own political group, in light of the tragic events in Colorado.

See below:

Well done Keith. I just wish some of your friends had such morals.

First a photo of the suspect: (via Gawker)

This is the suspect, James Holmes
Looks like a Latino to me. Might be mixed.

The Story is all over, I will just link to the Memeorandum round up.

Some seriously depressing stuff to wake up to. Of course, the political people are already casting blame and apologizing for their stupidity.

I will forgo the snark and humor; because quite frankly, there is not a damned thing funny about any of this. Little children and adults were killed, no humor in that at all. Neither should it be politicized, exploited for Religious reasons or anything else. Okay, if you want to pray for anything; pray for justice! Because if anything, this son-of-a-bitch might get off on a mental charge and end up in a nice room with a TV.

Update #1: What I would like to know is this; where did this guy get the cash to buy all these guns? I mean, not to belittle the situation or anything, but is there a special bank for crazy people, like this guy? All kidding aside, have you priced guns of this nature lately? They are not cheap. Don’t believe me? Look here at how much AR-15’s going for!  (don’t worry, that’s not a paying link…) They are not cheap at all. I am thinking that this kid had some sort of special inheritance of some sort. Also too,  What about the gun dealer? If I was a gun dealer and some freaky looking dude came in with red hair and wanted to buy a gun; I would be a little hesitant to sell him one.

more thoughts as I think of them…

Yes, Mr. President, I built this

(Full disclosure: I am not voting for Mitt Romney) Update: When I originally wrote this, I was not going to vote for Mitt Romney; things changed, I am voting for him.

Living proof that liberals are classless human beings

Before we begin, a little music….:

For your reading pleasure:

DEAD ANDY BREITBART IS NOW ROMNEY’S TOP CAMPAIGN STRATEGIST
DougJ / Balloon Juice:  Bad like Jesse James
BooMan / Booman Tribune:   Welcome Back to Palinville  —  I think Steve M. is right.

Go read that stuff and come back here. I’ll wait.

Now, did you read that? Let me ask you this; what if we Conservatives mocked a dead liberal like that? Just a note: Andrew Breitbart did say some nasty things about Ted Kennedy, which is why I was not a huge fan of his. But, still, what if we Conservatives mocked a dead liberal blogger, or public figure who was liberal? We would be poo poo’ed from one end of spectrum to the other!  Not only this, but if someone said something as nasty as what this “no more Mr. nice blog” said and it was about a liberal; the Non-Fox media would be all over it. However, because it is a liberal blogger, and a nasty son-of-a-bitch one at that, not a word is said about it.

My friends, this right here; along with a good deal of other issues, is why this skeptical left-of-center, American populist kind of a guy simply walked away from the Democrats in 2008 and has not looked back since.  They have nothing anymore, nothing that this skeptical person wants to buy anymore. All they have is nastiness, like this; class warfare, and racial resentment. They have no solutions, they have nothing for the middle class and the working man. They are the party of the minority and the identity politics crowd; the part of hand outs and freeloaders.

It is truly a sad thing to behold, all the years of work done by great statesmen, like Roosevelt, Truman and many before them; is being squandered by people who simply hate this Country, its morals and its legacy. These are the ones who gave us LBJ and his disastrous “great society.” They are the ones who gave us Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and now this disastrous neo-leftist Barack Hussein Obama.

The Democratic Party, which President Ronald Reagan referred to as the “Honorable Party” has given way to the neo-leftist party.  They proved that to me, when the Obama campaign basically used Chicago-style tactics of death threats and dirty pool against a fellow Democrat. This is why I left them; because the honor left that party long ago. Not only that, but the Democrats scheme to bring down our capitalist system though the passage of a clause of to a bill, which turned out to be a rather benign piece of legislation into a ticking time bomb.

Yes, that my friends, is the party that I made the horrible mistake of voting for until 2008, when I finally stopped making excuses for them and realized that party had finally become — and that is a cesspool of hate, racial resentment, class warfare, murder (of babies), God denial and more. I simply had enough and switched to the side that honors God, America and the individual. No, I do not mean the Republican Party — I mean the side of Conservatism.

It is a choice that I do not regret.

Update: Apparently one of the liberals objects to my linking to him. Two words: Tough rocks. He also seems to have a bit of reading comprehension problem; which is typical of the left.  He also sent one of his sock puppets to argue with me. Sorry, I don’t argue with idiots, and ya’ll bunch of idiots. But, thanks just the same for the traffic. 😀

Detroit’s fiscal chickens come home to roost

I really hate having to write blog entries like this; I really do.  For those of you, who actually read here; I was born and raised on the southwest side of Detroit. I left Detroit, with my parents, in 1989. Our house was burglarized by a family member’s friend and yes, he was involved too.  As much as it greatly pains me to say this; the city and that part of the city, where I grew up, is not what it once was. I have very fond memories of growing up in Detroit; hanging with my buddy Joe, who now lives in Lima, Ohio —- going to Church over on Military Street off of Vernor Highway —  just a good place to grow up. I realize some of you might find it hard to believe, that growing up in Detroit was a good thing; but, believe me it was. I would not trade my childhood for nothing at all.

The reason why I do not like writing blog entries like this, is because it just makes the City of Detroit and Michigan look bad. I always get my feathers in an uproar, when people, who do not even live around here, begin writing articles about this area, like they are some sort of expert on this area.  The way I see it, if you have never lived here, worked here or worshiped here; you ought to just keep your mouth shut. I know, it sounds a bit gruff; chalk it up to a ghetto attitude, a Detroit attitude or just someone who is not to keen on outsiders running their mouths, when they ought to just keep out of the city’s business.  Whatever it is, when I see the mostly woefully uninformed criticism, my defenses kick in.  Yes, I know who runs and controls Detroit now; I do not like it anymore than anyone else. But to say that skin pigmentation has a thing to do with the city of Detroit’s problems is asinine at best.  There seems to be a bit of that, on the right, at sites like this one here.

The Nation is in a horrible recession, some would even say a “double dip” recession. This is the thing that is causing Detroit’s fiscal problems; it  is what is known as “kicking the can down the road.” America as a Nation, has done it for decades. Detroit has done it since about the 1970’s; and now they are at the point where the road that they have kicked said can down —- is at the gates of hell and they are now trying to figure out a method of escape. Sort of like what is happening in Washington DC at the moment.

So when I see this story in the Detroit Free Press, a very liberally biased paper; I have to smirk a bit. Because now, the socialists who have controlled Detroit for years are now at place of, “Where did all the money go?”

Quoting the Paper:

The emotions of labor leaders and city workers were eclipsed Monday by the harsh reality that there appears to be little that can stop a 10% wage cut and major changes to employment terms for Detroit’s unionized workforce.

During a nearly three-hour Detroit City Council meeting, Mayor Dave Bing’s administration laid out its case for $102 million in savings through cuts, including reduced pensions and higher out-of-pocket health care costs, in addition to wage cuts.

Officials painted a dire picture: Without savings from what the city now is calling employment terms, Detroit could run out of cash as early as October.

It really should not be of any surprise to anyone, but the usual gang of suspects are now lining up with the grievances; complete with class warfare and so forth:

Councilwoman JoAnn Watson said Bing’s administration made no effort to bargain with Detroit’s 48 unions as the city charter requires and is balancing the city’s debts on the backs of its workers.

Watson said she wants to see as much effort put into restructuring Detroit’s debt as Bing has put into reworking city labor contracts.

“You all want to get tough with the working people, but you don’t want to get tough with the Wall Street bankers,” she said.

As much as I hate to make a funny, at someone’s expense; but, did someone relocate Wall Street to Detroit? I do not recall the notice that stock exchange was leaving New York. Funny nonsense aside, I know the point she is trying to make, a rather moronic socialist argument, that somehow or another businesses in Detroit ought to be punished for the idiotic management of a socialist city. Which is essentially that same stupid argument that President Barack Obama is making as well. It is a flawed mentality and one that usually bankrupts a city and eventually a Nation. America’s clock is ticking and eventually, we are going to end up like Detroit — broke. Some would say that we are already broke and China is our real masters.

As always the Unions are having their say as well:

Al Garrett, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 25, the city’s largest union, said city officials “have gone too damn far,” and urged the council to reject the contracts and force Bing and the financial advisory board to impose them.

“It’s the only influence you have,” Garrett said, addressing the council. “Otherwise your sitting there serves no purpose. Please don’t vote for it. … Stand up and be accountable for the seat.”

[…]

Gerald Thompson, president of the AFSCME Local 1220, representing city clerks and security guards, criticized the council for approving a fiscal stability agreement with the state that left the council powerless to stop draconian union cuts.

“This is what happens when absolute power corrupts,” Thompson said. “This is not fundamental fairness in democracy. It’s tyranny.”

Mr. Thompson? You want to see tyranny? Try looking in the White House; if that is not a text book example of power corrupting someone, I do not know what is.  Furthermore, I find it absolutely amusing that a socialist liberal would cry “Tyranny!” when the odds are not in his favor. It is a totally partisan hack move and I believe it should be condemned by the Mayor of Detroit. But, of course, we all know that will never happen.

Finally, in this story, a bit of sanity:

Chris Brown, Bing’s chief operating officer, acknowledged that the contracts, expected to be imposed no later than next month, were crafted with no union input.

“Things are not the same,” Brown said. “We’re not going to sit here and say we collectively bargained. We didn’t. It may not be fair, but it’s necessary.”

I highlighted that one, because I am amazed that someone in Detroit sees the trees, in spite of the forest around him. I pray that Detroit is able to steer itself out of the mess created by the downturn in the economy. Because as goes the City of Detroit; so goes the rest of the state and eventually the Country. I believe we can make it out of this mess, there just has to be some adults in the room. I just wish some of those adults were in the room in council chambers in Detroit.
