I’m not supposed to do this; but, screw it. This is MY blog and I will do what I damned well please. 😡 If you got a problem with it, that is just too damned bad.
A pioneer in the liberal blogging and political snark world has died. BartCop is who he was. Crooks and Liars has the story.
He leaves behind a wife and a mortgage. Click here to go help out.
This chorus is swirling in my head at the moment:
And when I’m gone, just carry on, don’t mourn
Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that I’m looking down on you smiling
And I didn’t feel a thing, So baby don’t feel no pain
Just smile back

As most who read here know; I was not always a Buchananite Conservative. I was, for what it is truly worth; a very skeptical left-of-center type. A Populist, of the historic sort. In 2007, I basically decided that voting Democratic Party was not for me any longer. Because of this, I do mourn, when a blogger dies. A voice in this great conversation is silenced. Maybe this video here, will explain what I mean:
I just wish politics was a bit more, like it is depicted in the video above, towards the end. 🙁
Liz Wahl is a great American, for doing this here.
The Video:
Here CNN’s Anderson Cooper interviews her:
The Story:
American journalist Liz Wahl just made Vladimir Putin’s enemies list.
Wahl, an American anchor for RT-America, a cable news network funded by the Russian government, stunned viewers Wednesday, when, at the end of her 5 PM broadcast, she announced her resignation from the channel.
The announcement was stunning. But Wahl’s decision to quit the network was a long time coming. In an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast, she says that, “When I came on board from the beginning I knew what I was getting into, but I think I was more cautious and tried to stay as objective as I could.” Yet repeated attempts by her superiors at the network to censor her work and distort the truth ultimately convinced Wahl that, to keep her integrity intact, she would have to depart.
“As a reporter on this network I face many ethical and moral challenges especially me personally coming from a family whose grandparents came here as refugees during the Hungarian revolution, ironically to escape the Soviet forces,” she told network viewers, immediately following a report claiming that the new Ukrainian government, which ousted pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych, is composed mainly of fascists and neo-Nazis. “I’m very lucky to have grown up here in the United States. I’m the daughter of a veteran. My partner is a physician at a military base where he sees every day the first-hand accounts of the ultimate prices that people pay for this country. And that is why personally I cannot be part of a network that whitewashes the actions of Putin. I am proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth and that is why after this newscast I’m resigning.”
Personally, I feel that this was an awesome move by this young woman. Anyone that stands for American; irregardless of the their political ideology; is someone to be praised. Liz Wahl gets it, her Father is a Veteran, her grandparents were immigrants to this Country and they lived in Countries where freedom, like we have here in America, was nothing more than a distant dream. Liz Wahl knew that, and because of that legacy, she decided to finally say to RT, “enough is enough!” and walk away from that wretched propaganda machine.
Kudos to her and he decision to stand for what she truly knows is right. This, my friends, is a textbook example of a true America patriot. Liz Wahl walked away from well-paying job for her love of America. This is something to be commended greatly. Here is hoping that Fox News or CNN offer her a primetime slot on one of their networks. Hopefully, she has enough common sense not to go to MSNBC.
Again, to Liz Wahl, May God Bless You, and are a great American. 🙂
Because of this here, kudos to Lew Rockwell and his friends for bringing it up:
Ukraine is a dangerous situation because the U.S., at least verbally, is threatening Russia and because Putin and Obama, at least in public, analyze, understand and see the situation there in very different ways. We do not know what was said when Obama and Putin recently conversed at length by telephone. The U.S. and E.U. have embraced the revolution, while Russia does not see that riots are part of a democratic process.
A key problem in Ukraine is that there is a strong right-wing, ultra-nationalist and neo-Nazi type party and other similar groups that have played a key role in generating the violence that brought down the government and breaking an agreement reached in late February. Putin’s rationale for a Russian presence in Ukraine includes reference to this destabilizing and violent element. On the other hand, the public statements of Kerry and Obama focus almost solely on Russia’s reactions and on generalities about democracy and the Ukrainian people. Putin has not, however, said anything against that democratic aspiration. He sees the Svoboda party as having undermined it.
What I am about to say, I rarely, if ever, say about anyone–even those folks with whom I vehemently disagree. I’ve never allowed myself to let my portion of the public debate get personal. But in the case of Piers Morgan, I am willfully backsliding.
Piers Morgan is an oaf of the highest order. He is a boorish braggart, a wanna-be tyrant, and an overall pompous ass. It was British snobs like Piers Morgan that incited the Colonists to revolt. Just looking at Morgan–as he smugly peered down his nose at us freedom-loving Americans–made me want to go to war with Great Britain all over again.
Now it appears that Piers Morgan will be off the airwaves soon–at least during primetime on CNN. All I can say is GOOD RIDDANCE. I also find it amusing that while Piers Morgan is riding off into the sunset, Alex Jones continues to broadcast all over the place. The Colonists won again. Oohrah!
I have debated writing about this story. Simply because my stance on it, does not follow the normal talking points of those of my political and religious stance. I am, of course, referring to the Arizona Bill that Gov. Jan Brewer just vetoed.
Consider this my official stance on the subject: I am not gay, nor do I have any gay members of my family. However, I do not believe this bill to have been wise decision by whomever decided it would be a good idea to cook up such an idea. If one owns a business; that business is to serve the public. If one has religious reasons for not wanted to serve homosexuals, then perhaps one should not be in business to serve the public.
It is one thing to object to the homosexual lifestyle; that I can understand totally. I am a Christian and I also object to the lifestyle. However, if you own a business, you are doing so to give a service to the public and yes, that does include gays. If one had such as issue of providing a service to said people. One might not want to be in the business of providing services to the public.
This is where I part ways with the extreme Christian right. The extreme Christian right wants to impose their beliefs on the rest of America. I have no such desire. I know what I believe; and that is good enough for me. This is not, despite what some on the right might say, a fight for religious freedom. It is simply a way of trying to legalize imposing religious beliefs in the public square.
Now, if a business, which was owned by a Muslim; or even a WASP, like myself — decided to say that they were not going to service Jews. The howls of the Christian and Jewish right would be deafening. However, because this bill is about Gays versus Christian businesses, it is perfectly fine to the Christian right. This is the hypocrisy of the Christian right and why I tend to distance myself from them.
In closing: I am a Christian and I am a Buchananite Conservative; But this bill was a very bad idea.
Normally as a rule, I do not agree with most of what is found on progressive blogs. However, as you all know, I am a Paleoconservative or a Pat Buchanan type of conservative. Which basically means that I am a populist on stuff like free trade, Wall Street, and yes, even things like Social Security.
So, when I do see stuff like the below, I do have to speak out on it.
The Video:
The Story:
From this Sunday’s Face the Nation, host Bob Schieffer wants the audience to believe that those on the left who are opposed to cuts to “entitlements” a.k.a. our earned benefits and social safety nets, are just as “extreme” as these TeaBirchers in the Congress who have been obstructing everything President Obama has tried to do purely for the sake of obstruction.
Because we all know that wanting to protect Americans from becoming impoverished and to have access to affordable medical care is just like shutting down the government, right? Good god.
And unfortunately he got no push back from Gov. Martin O’Malley, who did counter the notion that the problem with our economy is that seniors are getting too many Social Security benefits, but he let the false equivalency stand.
I believe that this Nation’s financial situation was caused by the blatant incompetence of BOTH Parties and not just one or the other. I believe that there must be measures taken to correct the problem. However, I do NOT believe that the solutions to the problems should be put on the back of the Nation’s disabled, elderly or retired. If anything at all, it ought to come off the backs of those who led this Nation down the path that it is on now.
As Patrick J. Buchanan has rightly said, the proper why to pay down the debt of this Country is to impose tariffs on imports into this Country and get rid of these idiotic trade agreements. This would totally fund our social safety net and pay down our Nation’s debt. Instead the elites in Washington D.C. would rather cut programs that actually help poor Americans and keep our Nation’s elderly and disabled as paupers. This includes my Father, who gave 31 years of his life to the General Motors Corporation.
It is a pity that we have people in D.C. who would rather reward the corrupt elites and punish the real, hard working Americans, who played by the rules and actually contributed to this Country —- people like my Father. 😡
Multiculturalism at it’s finest. If the races were reversed on this story; it would be national news. But, because it is a white guy, being shot by thug blacks; there is nothing to see here, move along. 🙄 😡
CHARLOTTE, NC– One day after a deadly shooting happened inside of a Huntersville apartment complex, the police caution tape is gone and lots of questions remain unanswered. Wednesday evening, 19-year-old Peter Jordan was shot and killed outside of apartment G at the Landings at Northcross apartments located off Sam Furr Road near I-77 and Birkdale Village.
Huntersville Police say Jordan did not live at the complex, and that they are searching for suspects based on eyewitness accounts from area residents. “They observed a black Chevrolet Impala occupied by three to four black males leaving the area at a high rate of speed,” says Capt. Kevin Johnston with the Huntersville Police Department.
As the search for the suspects continues, residents living in nearby apartments recall a frightening evening that has rattled their community. One woman we spoke with says she is too nervous to leave her apartment. Another resident says she is walking her dog earlier than usual to avoid being out after dark. She says her heart goes out to Jordan’s family.
Jordan’s family members posted on facebook that his funeral is taking place on Sunday at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville.
Of course, the liberal media basically says, “He had it coming, because he is white and his people kept blacks as slaves. So, it is justified.”
I feel for the family, I really do. I feel their pain. My family has been there. Hopefully, this family gets justice; because my family never really did. 🙁 😥
(WXYZ) – A Detroit mother opened fire Monday night when three suspects broke into her home.
Surveillance cameras caught it all.
The mother tells 7 Action News she “didn’t have time to get scared.” When she heard the door to her home on Woodrow Wilson being kicked in, she immediately warned the three teenage intruders and then opened fire.
UPDATE: Detroit Police Chief reacts, says, “She did the right thing.”
One of the teens dropped a handgun on his way out the door. He then tried to get back inside the house a second time, but was again met with gunfire. Once again, he took off and all three were arrested shortly after the incident by Detroit Police.
Recalling the panic she felt, the mom says “I let them know I had a gun once they were in the house. They said no you don’t so I shot off the first round. I wasn’t feeling anything at the moment, I got scared afterwards.”
(WXYZ) – It’s the video creating a national stir as it goes viral.
Seen first on 7 Action News at 11 , a mother from Detroit opening fire on three teenage burglars inside her home.
Now Detroit’s Chief of Police is responding to the dramatic footage and the mother’s actions.
“She did the right thing” says Chief James Craig acknowledging the mother gave a verbal warning prior to firing the weapon.
As we first reported, the mother was protecting two small children inside the home.
She tells us “I let them know I had a gun once they were in the house. They said no you don’t so I shot off the first round.” Her husband is thankful she and the kids are safe.
He gave her the weapon just two weeks ago and showed her how to use it.
“If I hadn’t prepared my wife for this kind of situation, I could have came home to a family that was gone,” he says.
I wonder what liberals like Diane Feinstein would say about this little situation? 🙄
A man by the name of Curt Brockhaus sent me an email about a book that he has written. It’s a web book and it has a good deal of video and pictures about the history of the automotive industry in it. It makes for very interesting reading, especially for history buffs like me.
The United Automobile Workers’ failure to form a union at a Chattanooga, Tenn., Volkswagen plant after two years of organizing efforts was a result welcomed by Senator Bob Corker. Corker, who vocally opposed unionization throughout the process, has been the target of criticism by pro-union activists for weighing in on the situation. On Wednesday, he continued his outspokenness on the matter.
“I’m not anti-union — I’m anti-UAW because of all the destruction they’ve done to jobs in our country and what they’re about,” Corker, who previously served as mayor of Chattanooga, told Fox News. “This was all about money.”
Last week, workers at the Volkswagen plant rejected joining the union. Had it been successful, it would have been the first foreign-owned plant to have been organized by the UAW.
As the son of a General Motors worker and UAW Member; I happen to think that the citizens of the great State of Tennessee need to become Anti-Corker. Because anyone that thinks that the UAW was the sole cause of Detroit’s decline, or is solely responsible for the decline in American manufacturing, is obviously too stupid to drive a car, much less be a Senator in Congress.
