LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling says he was baited into his comments

This does not surprise me one bit.

The Story:

(CNN) — Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling says he’s sorry but feels he was “baited” to make racist comments, nearly two weeks after the NBA fined him and banned him for life for his remarks in a recorded conversation.

“When I listen to that tape, I don’t even know how I can say words like that. … I don’t know why the girl had me say those things,” he told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in an exclusive interview set to air on Monday.

“You’re saying you were set up?” Cooper asked.

“Well yes, I was baited,” Sterling said. “I mean, that’s not the way I talk. I don’t talk about people for one thing, ever. I talk about ideas and other things. I don’t talk about people.”

Sterling, an 80-year-old married lawyer and billionaire real-estate investor, hasn’t spoken publicly about the accusations since celebrity gossip website TMZ posted a 10-minute audio recording of him that drew widespread condemnation from fans, players and the league.

via Donald Sterling tells Anderson Cooper: ‘I’m asking for forgiveness’ – CNN.com.

I do not doubt his word on being baited. Sounds to be like some ex-whatever you wanna call it, coaxed him into saying the stuff he did and recorded it in retaliation for not getting paid or something.

Now I will tell you this; you watch. Donald Sterling will go through a period, where he will have to grovel at the altar of political correctness. Then, after a while, the powers-that-be at the NFL will finally lift his lifetime ban and he will be reinstated, like nothing ever happened. Why? Because he is of the right ethnic background, as is the current NBA commissioner.

Now, had Sterling been a WASP, like myself. He would be finished, personally and financially. However, because he is of the protected minority sort; and did attack someone within the liberal’s protected status, all will be forgiven in a short time and all of this will blow over, as if nothing ever happened.  You watch and see if I am not correct.

Financial, ethnical  and social status have their privileges and we are about to see just what those privileges entail. Now, if I am wrong; I will be quite pleased to see the NFL carry out this sort of a punishment. However, something tells me, that a period of groveling will take place and then a magical forgiveness and restoration will take please. You watch and see, if I am not correct.

For my Mother, with Love.

There are many things that I can say about my Mother.

The question is, where do I start?

I want it to be publically known that my Mother has put up with more from me, than *any* other Mother would ever put up with.

While her nieces and nephews were out, being successful, getting married and having kids; her son, was still living at home and single.

While her nieces and nephews were out buying houses and starting families; her son was still living in her basement.

But, My Mother never complained at all. In fact, she likes the help around the house.

When I starting writing about politics, first as a left of center; things were fine, we agreed on much and truth be known, we still do — in 2007, when I realized that I simply did not agree with the Democrats and just could not continue to write in support of them — the first thing I asked myself and worried about was, “What will my Mother think?”

But, much to my shock and surprise, my Mother simply said, “it’s your business.” Which was kind of a let down, I figured she would ball me out, just a little. Truth is, we agree on some things. Between you and me; I think she’s a bit more to the right, than she thinks. 😛

I am thankful that my Mother decided to stay devoted to my Father, no matter what, because giving up and filing for divorce would have been the easy way out. She told me once, long ago; that she married for good and bad, rich or poor; good times and bad. For this alone, I am very grateful. I am sure my Dad is too, especially now.

I am grateful that my Mother decided to tough it out, with a kid who had ADHD and not decide that she couldn’t deal with it and give me up for adoption. I’m glad that my Mother chose life and did not go to some backyard abortion mill and have me aborted. Although, I tend to think that she wished she had, at times. Especially when I was younger.

But, most of all; I am simply grateful for my Mother. I wouldn’t trade my upbringing and life with her, and Dad for anything in this world at all. Money, fame, anything. I have, I must say; the greatest Mother any man could ever ask for.

God bless you Mom. You are the greatest.

Signed,

Patrick

The Obama Administration’s useful idiots and water carriers

First of all, before you read my screed; go read Ed Morrissey’s. He puts it a bit better than I will. 🙂

Quote:

When Jay Carney was grilled at length by Jonathan Karl of ABC News over an email outlining administration talking points in the wake of the 2012 Benghazi attack, it was not, by the reckoning of many observers, the White House press secretary’s finest hour. Carney was alternately defensive and dismissive, arguably fueling a bonfire he was trying to tamp down.

But Carney needn’t have worried. He had plenty of backup.

He had The New Republic’s Brian Beutler dismissing Benghazi as “nonsense.” He had Slate’s David Weigel, along with The Washington Post’s Plum Line blog, debunking any claim that the new email was a “smoking gun.” Media Matters for America labeled Benghazi a “hoax.” Salon wrote that the GOP had a “demented Benghazi disease.” Daily Kos featured the headline: “Here’s Why the GOP Is Fired Up About Benghazi—and Here’s Why They’re Wrong.” The Huffington Post offered “Three Reasons Why Reviving Benghazi Is Stupid—for the GOP.”

It’s been a familiar pattern since President Obama took office in 2009: When critics attack, the White House can count on a posse of progressive writers to ride to its rescue. Pick an issue, from the Affordable Care Act to Ukraine to the economy to controversies involving the Internal Revenue Service and Benghazi, and you’ll find the same voices again and again, on the Web and on Twitter, giving the president cover while savaging the opposition. And typically doing it with sharper tongues and tighter arguments than the White House itself.

via Progressive Bloggers Are Doing the White House’s Job – NationalJournal.com.

The sad part is, I used to be a part of that side of the fence and yes, I even used to read those blogs. What did it for me was when I began to see that the left was not about objectivity; but rather about propaganda.  Heck, even about Bush they were known to lie and distort the truth. The truth is about Iraq; is that Bush invaded, based upon the intelligence that he had at the time; and he didn’t “trust, but verify.” The truth is, our Government just assumed that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, this was because the inspectors and our Government were being given the run around by Saddam and his Government. Now in hindsight, this was a bad choice, by Bush and Congress, of course. However, that is a far cry from Bush actually knowingly lying and allowing four thousand America servicemen to die. My point is that is what the left says about Bush, all the time.

So, now that Obama is in the White House, things switched up. They are in defensive mode of the President. The progressive blogosphere is really the White House’s useful idiots. The White House uses them, but, they keep them at a distance. The reason is, because the White House doesn’t like it, when they have the gall to actually criticize the President, which does happen from time to time. The sad part is that it is really for nothing at all. You think the Democrats or the progressive Blogosphere actually accomplished anything? Heck no! They did not stop the Iraq War. They never got Bush impeached. So, really, the Leftist blogosphere is a joke, in my opinion. Not to mention that they are really a hate-filled group, that defends things that I simply cannot; which is why I left them for good.

Just my opinion.

Quote of the Day

Comes via David Cloud’s Friday Church News Notes:

DID YOU OBEY 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-4 TODAY? (Friday Church News Notes, May 9, 2014, www.wayoflife.orgfbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) – I am convinced that if the Lord’s Bible-believing churches would earnestly, regularly, and often pray for the nation, great things could happen. This is true for any nation, but here I am referring specifically to America. We are in dire straights. There is no wisdom in high places. If we would stop leaning on the arm of the flesh (e.g., political activity, conservative talk radio, Fox News, complaining and fretting) and instead cast ourselves fervently upon the arms of the Almighty, we might see real supernatural change for the better. Could we not have some special prayer meetings just for this purpose? Could we not pray with fasting? At the very least, could we not bring this matter before God at every meal and in every church service? Is our liberty and our grandchildren’s liberty not worth the effort? Sure, the signs of the end times are everywhere, but the mystery of iniquity has been working for 2,000 years and the reigns of the times are in God’s hands, not the devil’s. Jehovah is the God of the times and the seasons (Daniel 2:20-21). He is the One who “now letteth” or restrains the devil’s program (2 Th. 2:7), and He can restrain as long as He pleases and as much as He pleases. Do we believe that God’s hand has gone slack in these apostate times? “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim. 2:1-4). “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3).

Robert Plant does not want to live in Led Zeppelin’s past

There has been a great deal of talk and hype about Led Zeppelin doing a reunion tour — and Robert Plant is having none of it.

Robert Plant – Just another pissy old, overpaid, overrated rock star

Quote:

It’s been nearly seven years since the show at the 02, and the topic of Zeppelin’s aborted tour still rankles Plant, who has come to a pub near his North London home to talk about the group’s new series of archival release. As explains himself his decision to not tour with Zeppelin, he leans forward with menace, and his eyes nearly double in size. “You’re going back to the same old shit,” he says. “A tour would have been an absolute menagerie of vested interests and the very essence of everything that’s shitty about about big-time stadium rock. We were surrounded by a circus of people that would have had our souls on the fire. I’m not part of a jukebox!”

Nearly all of Plant’s peers are happy to deal with such a circus considering the insane financial rewards. “Good luck to them,” he sneers. “I hope they’re having a real riveting and wonderful late middle age. Somehow I don’t think they are.”

Needless to say, Jimmy Page has a very different take on the situation. “There’s bound to be fallout if you just do one show,” he says. “At the time of the 02 show we were led to believe there were going to be more. You’ll have to ask Robert why he changed his mind. I don’t even know if he considered it. I don’t know what he thinks.”

via Robert Plant Slams Idea of Zeppelin Tour: ‘I’m Not Part of a Jukebox’ | Music News | Rolling Stone.

I hate to say it, but, I do get Robert Plant’s point. He is simply not interested in cashing in on Led Zeppelin’s legendary status.

One thing people have to understand about Led Zeppelin is this: By 1980, when Led Zeppelin’s drummer, John Bonham died the band was basically running on the vapors of a different era. Jimmy Page was doing heroin, John Bonham was going on drinking binges that would last for days. Now Robert Plant and John Paul Jones were living totally different lives; as they were totally sober and trying to be in a band. This lead to friction in the band. This was further compounded when Robert Plant’s five year old son Karac died of a stomach infection. Jimmy Page nor John Paul Jones showed up for the funeral. This angered Plant greatly.

Plus too, and this is the part that nobody really talks about anymore, but it’s the truth; by 1980, Led Zeppelin sounded, well, dated. By 1980, Zeppelin sounded like, well, the 1970’s and young people of that era had moved on. The young people of the 1980’s were listening to punk and new wave. The ones of listened to rock and roll, had found other bands to listen to, seeing that Led Zeppelin was taking forever to release records. So, a bit of their fan base had been peeled off. So, by 1980, Led Zeppelin was seen largely as a novelty act.

Please Note: I do not write the following as a critic, but as someone who really liked Bonham’s drumming and am saddened that Bonham died the way he did and as a grandson of a man, who was a working alcoholic who tragically died really young:

As a drummer, I feel that I can say this: The only reason Led Zeppelin was what they were, is because of John Bonham’s drumming; this is why they did not attempt to replace him, after he died. The other guys were great musicians, but Bonham’s drumming rounded out and really made that sound.  Bonham’s own son does not even remotely sound like him at all. Not only that, but even Bonham’s drumming sound was the result of some old school studio trickery and careful editing of tape; especially in the later years, as the use of alcohol began to cause his drumming ability to suffer. In his later years, Bonham’s inability to do “triplets” was very obvious. Bonham never lost timing, that I’ve ever heard; but his later drumming was not nearly that of his young years. When Bonham was sober, he played well. When he was drunk, he was awful. Bonham, when drunk, would become verbally abusive towards the other band members; this is clear in the intro of one of John Bonham’s isolated tracks of “Fool in the rain.” Bonham could not even count off a song to start a session take without making a mistake.

My point is this: Robert Plant simply does not want to go back to that place again; and quite frankly, I do not blame him one bit.

Removed “Past Daily” from my blogroll and Added Farm Wars

Just wanted to let everyone know that I removed Past Daily from the history section of the blogroll.

About a week ago, I happened to stumble over a posting there, that was factually incorrect and reeked of idiotic political bias. I even removed the blog from my RSS Reader.

I knew that Past Daily’s owner was a liberal Democrat. I get that. He used to have a sub-blog over at Crooks and Liars, another leftist blog; which I hardly ever can stand to read anymore. But, I thought that Past Daily’s owner was a bit less partisan and more about history. I guess I was wrong. So, he’s gone.

On a better and more positive note: I added Farm Wars to my blogroll. It is a great farming related site. Our Nation’s farmers are a treasure and I will ALWAYS defend them here. I am also giving them an RSS feed in the sidebars too. Head on over and check them out; and maybe drop in a donation too. They could use it. 🙂

Patrick J. Buchanan points out why there are no jobs in America

This is something that I have said for a while now too.:

America is something new in the way of world powers. We not only provide the legions to protect “allies,” but provide the tribute in the form of foreign aid, IMF and World Bank loans, and bailout billions.

Moreover, America has thrown open her home market, largest in the world at $17 trillion, to Europe, Japan, Canada, Mexico, and even China, and invited them to come and capture it from our manufacturers.

In a quarter century, these trade partners have run up $10 trillion in trade surpluses at our expense, eviscerating our industrial base to where Detroit looks like Dresden in 1945.

But while we preach free trade our partners practice protectionism.

The Chinese undervalue their currency to keep imports low and exports high. We are too timid to confront them. The Europeans put value-added taxes on imports from the USA, and rebate the VAT on exports to the USA.

The Japanese, who look on trade as a form of warfare, killed our TV industry and now own huge slices of our auto market.

Last year, Tokyo ran a $60 billion trade surplus at our expense. After our trade deal with South Korea, Seoul’s trade surplus at our expense shot up 25 percent to a record $20 billion. China ran a $318 billion trade surplus with us in 2013, up from $313 billion in 2012.

Our trade deficits finance both the growth of our allies and our adversaries.

via The Philanthropic Superpower – Patrick J. Buchanan – Official Website.

All of the above is a really good reason there are no jobs here. Pat has a very good point about Detroit too. The problem is, that there are two political parties here in America; the stupid party on the left and the war party on the right. Neither of them are committed to preserving the American worker and protecting jobs here. If anything, both parties are committed to keep the élite rich and the crony capitalists protected.

As a result of this, everyday American workers like myself, cannot find jobs at all. As a result of this, everyday Americans workers like myself are forced to sign up for state-paid Medicaid; as so not to be a burden on their families with medical expenses, because of ailments like diabetes, high blood pressure and A.D.H.D. It is indeed a new America — people, like myself; are unemployed and are on state-paid medicaid and are hardly able to get by — robbing them of the American Dream — all the while the President of the United States of America racks up a $40 million dollar vacation tab on the taxpayers dime. In a sane world, that alone would be grounds for impeachment.

But we don’t live in a sane world anymore. We live in the Obama-World, flanked by the stupid party on the left and the war party on the right — and it’s not changing anytime soon. Pat ends his piece with this:

As China’s military power grows, and U.S. armed forces shrink, our allies had best prepare for the day, not too distant, when America decides she will no longer play the philanthropic superpower, and gives up the role and goes home.

As all world powers eventually do.

This time is coming sooner than many think; either that, or it will collapse on itself. God-willing, I will survive that collapse. The question is — will everyone?

Polls show Dems going to be beaten in midterms.

They act like this is a shock. It really shouldn’t be.

Quote:

Democrats face serious obstacles as they look to the November elections, with President Obama’s approval rating at a new low and a majority of voters saying they prefer a Congress in Republican hands to check the president’s agenda, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Obama’s approval rating fell to 41 percent, down from 46 percent through the first three months of the year and the lowest of his presidency in Post-ABC News polls. Just 42 percent approve of his handling of the economy, 37 percent approve of how he is handling the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and 34 percent approve of his handling of the situation involving Ukraine and Russia.

Obama’s low rating could be a significant drag on Democratic candidates this fall — past elections suggest that when approval ratings are as low as Obama’s, the president’s party is almost certain to suffer at the ballot box in November.

via Post-ABC News poll shows Democrats at risk in November as Obama’s approval rating falls – The Washington Post.

Another thing too is this:

The Affordable Care Act is expected to be a major issue in the midterm elections. Obama recently urged Democrats to defend the law energetically, particularly after the administration announced that 8 million people signed up for it during the initial enrollment period. Republicans are confident that opposition to the new law will energize their supporters.

The Post-ABC poll found that 44 percent say they support the law while 48 percent say they oppose it, which is about where it was at the end of last year and in January. Half of all Americans also say they think implementation is worse than expected.

Last month, a Post-ABC poll found 49 percent of Americans saying they supported the new law compared with 48 percent who opposed it. That finding was more positive for the administration than most other polls at the time. Democrats saw it as a possible leading indicator of a shift in public opinion, but that has not materialized.

I hate to break it to the Washington Post; but it has materialized and in a big way. Many people have been tossed off their insurance plans and the ones that they ended up getting through Obamacare are costing them more money. Most of these people are not what people would call wealthy; these are working class people who struggle to pay their bills, like everyone else. These people were directly told, by the President that they could keep their plans and that their healthcare costs would go down. This was a direct lie and the President knew it from the beginning. This is why his approval ratings are down from what they were.

Not only that, but the President’s leadership, when it comes to foreign policy; has been utterly piss poor. The man is leading from behind and that simply does not impress the majority of Americans. When confronted about this, the best thing that this President can do is either blame or talk about President Bush’s foreign policy. It’s been a long time since Bush was in office; and I think the American people are actually expecting a bit more than blame shifting, and subject shifting, when it comes to the President.

I think it goes without saying, that the Democrats chickens are coming home to roost.
