Costco says that the Bible is fiction

This really does not shock me, seeing the world’s attitude toward Christianity anymore.

The Story:

What do the Bible, “The Hunger Games” and “Fifty Shades of Grey” have in common? All three are works of fiction, according to the booksellers at Costco.

Pastor Caleb Kaltenbach made that shocking discovery last Friday as he was shopping for a present for his wife at a Costco in Simi Valley, Calif.

“All the Bibles were labeled as fiction,” the pastor told me. “It seemed bizarre to me.”

Kaltenbach is the lead pastor at Discovery Church, a non-denominational Christian congregation in southern California.

He thought there must be some sort of mistake so he scoured the shelf for other Bibles. Every copy was plastered with a sticker that read, “$14.99 Fiction.”

When confronted by this, what does Costco do?

This:

I called Costco headquarters in Issaquah, Wash. hoping to get answers. The nice lady who answered the phone told me she was aware of the issue and chalked it up to a “human error at a warehouse.”

“It’s all fixed,” she said.

But actually, it’s not fixed – because there’s a boatload of Bibles in the Simi Valley store still marked as fiction.

At that point, the nice lady on the phone became not-so-nice and promptly informed me that Costco doesn’t talk to the press.

“Nothing to report,” she said curtly.

A very important thing to remember:

On the one hand Christians should not yell out ‘persecution’,” he said. “We aren’t living in Iraq or Iran. But on the other hand, I believe that we do need to stand up for our faith and we need to be vocal about our concerns.”
That’s a message that resonates with pastor and author Robert Jeffress.

“Let’s hope Costco’s explanation is true and not the result of having been caught attempting to marginalize the very foundation of Christian beliefs, the Bible,” Pastor Jeffress told me. “Christians need to call out organizations like Costco whose actions undermine Christianity – regardless of whether those actions are accidental or intentional.”

Sometimes, a mistake is just that; a mistake. But, it does, like I am sure it does all that will read this, who are believers —- really wonder what Costco’s motivations were or are.  Also too; it would be easy for me to label this an “Obama World” thing. Well, I will not do that one; not on this one. Because what private businesses do are not the fault of the President. Most likely, if anything at all. This was done by some smart mouthed punk in a warehouse somewhere. So, I won’t blame politics or even atheists for this at all.

Uppity white liberal blog exposes Grosse Pointe Park police officers supposed “racism”

Oh brother, here we go:

Grosse Pointe Park — Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating a blogger’s claim that their officers humiliated African American men by forcing them to make strange noises while videotaping them.

Two grainy cellphone videos, recorded from a second cellphone, were published on a local website last week. In the first, a male voice is heard saying “Go ahead, do your song,” followed by a man calling out something unintelligible. A caption on that video claims the voice belonged to a Grosse Pointe Park police officer, although the man who spoke does not identify himself.

In the second video, a man is shown cackling. A caption claims the video was “taken from a police car,” although nothing on the video indicates what kind of vehicle was involved.

Grosse Pointe Police Capt. David Loch said in a press release the police department is investigating the allegations.

“On Thursday, November 14 2013, the Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Department was contacted by an individual who said that he was in possession of video clips and a photo of African American males,” Loch said. “The video clips and photo are allegedly made by an officer of this department. The department has begun an internal investigation of this matter.

“The Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Department does not tolerate unprofessional conduct by its officers when interacting with any citizen they may come in contact with.”

You can go view the supposed “racist” videos here and here.

Way I see it; those cops just were filming those people in their natural element. See here:

As I know too well; that race card thing gets played, quite a bit.

Speaking of Pope Francis

Speaking of Pope Francis; It appears that Pat Buchanan is not happy with him either.

Quote:

“Pope Francis doesn’t want cultural warriors; he doesn’t want ideologues,” said Bishop Blase Cupich of Spokane, Wash.:

“The nuncio said the Holy Father wants bishops with pastoral sensitivity, shepherds who know the smell of the sheep.”

Bishop Cupich was conveying instructions the papal nuncio had delivered from Rome to guide U.S. bishops in choosing a new leader.

[…]

Does this not reflect the moral relativism of Prince Hamlet when he said to Rosencrantz, “there is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so?” Yet, is it not the church’s mission to differentiate good and evil and condemn the latter?

“Who am I to judge,” Pope Francis says of homosexuals.

Well, he is pope. And even the lowliest parish priest has to deliver moral judgments in a confessional.

“[S]ince he became pope,” writes Goodstein, Francis’ “approval numbers are skyrocketing. Even atheists are applauding.”

Especially the atheists, one imagines.

While Pope Francis has not altered any Catholic doctrines in his interviews and disquisitions, he is sowing seeds of confusion among the faithful, a high price to pay, even for “skyrocketing” poll numbers.

If memory serves, the Lord said, “Feed my sheep,” not “get the smell of the sheep.” And he did not mean soup kitchens, but more importantly the spiritual food essential for eternal life.

But then those were different Jesuits. And that was long ago.

I can see his point, there was a time, when the RCC actually stood against things like homosexuality and abortion. But, now, it seems that the RCC’s new pope is more interested in pleasing those who are non-believers; than they were keeping with the Church’s historic doctrines and traditions. Which is pretty much in step with the evangelicals.

Then again, I do not see the Roman Catholic Church is a true Christian Church. But, rather a well run religious operation.

Pope Francis makes a funny

My issues with Roman Catholicism aside; this is quite interesting.

The story:

VATICAN CITY –  Joking that he’s like a pharmacist, Pope Francis is promoting prayer as medicine for the heart.

Appearing on Sunday at his studio window, Francis held up a rosary in a box designed to resemble a packets of pills, before volunteers distributed thousands of those boxes, which feature a design of a human heart.

Francis said he was recommending reciting the rosary prayer as a “spiritual medicine” that is “good for the heart.”

Francis’ down-to-earth way of speaking, in a style ordinary people can readily understand, is drawing larger than usual crowds to St. Peter’s Square for his traditional weekly appearances.  About 80,000 tourists and Romans packed the square on Sunday.

I have been reading around about this new pope; and from what I have read, the Conservative wing of the RCC is not too pleased with this new pope at all. I suspect this here, might be why that is the case.

A perfect example of the State protecting its own self

Hoo Boy, this is pretty interesting; basically this guy dared to question the President’s so-called “Fix” for the Obamacare rollout debacle — and he got fired for it!

The Story: (H/T Ace of Spades HQ)

A day after he questioned President Obama’s decision to unwind a major tenet of the health-care law and said the nation’s capital might not go along, D.C. insurance commissioner William P. White was fired.

White was called into a meeting Friday afternoon with one of Mayor Vincent C. Gray’s (D) top deputies and told that the mayor “wants to go in a different direction,” White told The Washington Post on Saturday.

White said the mayoral deputy never said that he was being asked to leave because of his Thursday statement on health care. But he said the timing was hard to ignore. Roughly 24 hours later, White said, he was “basically being told, ‘Thanks, but no thanks.’ ”

via D.C. insurance commissioner fired a day after questioning Obamacare fix – The Washington Post.

The parallel lines that can be drawn between this and the communists and/or the Nazi’s are many; someone dares to question the actions of the great state and then they get fired. Sounds like someone in the White House did not like our fearless leader’s actions questioned and now finds himself without a job. Night of long knives anyone?

Sometimes I actually wonder if perhaps Lew Rockwell and friends are not correct; that we actually do live in a fascist Country anymore. But, please, don’t tell him that; least his big ol’ pointed head swell up and he not be able to get out of his house! 😉 😛 😀

Glenn Beck’s bizarre rant against the Pledge of Allegiance and the American National Anthem

This is one of the reasons why I happen to think that Glenn Beck has slipped into crank territory.

This comes via Ed Brayton, who has criticized me in the past; However, when he has a point, he has a point —- this is bizarre:

youtube placeholder image

To be fair, Beck claims to be a libertarian. Libertarians like Lew Rockwell believe that our flag, pledge and such are components of the “imperialist state.” Which has been a boogeyman of people like Rockwell for years. Also too, I believe that Glenn Beck is mistakenly conflating American Nationalism and Nationalist Socialism; which is tragic. I am an American Nationalist and I do not support Nationalist Socialism at all. I am not a Nazi supporter, Hitler was an evil man; who scapegoated the Jews for the failures of a poorly run Government in Germany. Anyone who says anything other than that, is partaking in historical revisionism. Furthermore, the Nationalist Socialist movement was Hitler’s attempt to perfect communism; which was the combining of private industry with the Government. Simply put, it was fascism without any pretenses.

I love my Country and I firmly respect that many a man have fought on battlefields, foreign and domestic for the simple idea of Liberty. Now Glenn Beck does have a point about Wilsonian foreign policy; however, to say what he is saying about the Anthem and the pledge is simply bogus.

Which is why it is quite rare if I do ever link his site at all. I do, once and a while; especially if it is a news story that I cannot find anywhere else. But, as a rule, I tend to steer clear from there.

Glenn Beck might have been correct about the left and it’s creation of Barack Obama; but I believe he is way off the mark here; and in a big way.
