When immigration reform goes horribly wrong

No matter how you slice it, this just sucks wet socks. I feel horrible for this poor young lady and her family.

English immigrant Lauren Bell is going to be deported, because one she’s not Mexican and two, because she is not an illegal immigrant

More details: The Bell family consists of four members:  father Kevin Bell, his wife Karen, their two daughters Lauren and Emily, now 17.  They immigrated from Britain to Georgia in 2003 after Kevin had acquired a research and development job with SGD North America in Sparta. The company manufactures glass bottles used as containers for perfume and medicines.

Kevin Bell entered under an H-1B visa. Under its terms, Mr. Bell’s family dependents are not permitted to acquire Social Security numbers or be employed. Lauren herself has an H4 visa, for the wives and children of H-1B visa holders.

The family settled in Madison, Georgia, bought a house and paid taxes. Lauren graduated from high school and is now a junior at Georgia College and State University.

The technicality: Lauren, her younger sister Emily (now seventeen), and her mother are all three covered by her father’s work visa. Upon turning twenty-one, at the end of January, Lauren is no longer considered a dependent. Thus she will no longer be covered by her father’s visa.

Head over and read this rest of that, it is truly a terrible story of how the Government is biased towards everyone, except those who actually need it.

Following up on my shame

In a previous missive, I wrote the following:

For years, since leaving the Democratic Party as a voter and supporter, I have tried my very best to maintain an image of optimism, that somehow America is the still the greatest Nation on planet Earth and that somehow, no matter what the progressive Democrats did, that somehow this Nation would still be able to overcome. I now realize that this was nothing more than foolish folly on my part.

After going back and rereading that, and seeing the reactions of some of my readers and looking at the darkness on my blog. I realized two things; one, I allowed myself to fall into the trap of cynicism and defeatism. Two, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me. I apologize to my readers for allowing that to happen.

My friends, I still love this Country and I still believe that the idea of a free Republic is still a very good idea and one that has served this Country well since its founding. However, let me be very clear; I am extremely disappointed in the Republican and Democratic Parties in their handling of this fiscal cliff. Both of these parties are using this cliff for political gain and we the American people are going to suffer bitterly for it.

The best idea that the Republicans have at this moment is, just walk away and let the Democrats have their mess. The Democrats best idea is to allow the fiscal cliff to happen, so that they can blame the Republicans. My friends, this is not in the best interest of America and its people; this is nothing more than political posturing and it is doing nothing for anyone, but the political players themselves.

What is the solution? My friends, at this point, outside of prayer for our Nation; there is no real quick solution. We are a civilized society here in America and we settle our differences, not with guns, violence and mayhem; that is idiotic anarchy —- we settle them at the ballot box. The Democrats may have won this round, but 2014 is coming and it will be when the America people will be able to vote those out, who acted in their self-interests and not in the interests of the American people.

In conclusion: I have brought back the earlier blog theme. Although, I believe I will forgo the American Nationalist look and keep it more basic this time. I will continue to write for love of Country, God and American values. I will try to keep my emotions in check and not allow myself to be drawn into the darkness that is cynicism and fatalism.

Again, I thank of you who e-mailed me and expressed your genuine concerns that I might have fallen into depression and given up. I will never give up on freedom, it is something that will drive me for the rest of my days; if only to undue some of the idiocy and misdeeds of my youth.

Freedom’s best days are ahead and I am here for the duration.

My Internets went kaput!

My cable modem went to see Jesus last night about 9:30 in the evening. First things got a little slow, and then they got really slow!

This is when I took to the phone to get in touch with my ISP, which is Comcast Internet.

I was put on the phone with a person “of politically privileged pigmentation” who happened to be a female. I told her my situation clearly and naturally she started telling me that I had to reset everything. I grumbled, and I argued for a few minutes.  Finally to please her, I did all of the resets — modem and routers. While I was doing that, guess what happens? She actually hangs up on me. This was about the time that my blood pressure went to mach 500.

Also during me trying to reset everything; the modem stopped connecting to the internet service at all. Which really had me fuming. What started out as a simple call for slow internet, turned into a dead modem fiasco.

I hung the phone up, uttered a couple unmentionable words about her hanging up and about her “politically privileged pigmentation” and called back. I went through the automated system again and again reached another female of “politically privileged pigmentation” and proceeded to give her a piece of my mind. When I was done, I was promised a phone call at 8:00 am prompt and a service call with a new modem shortly afterward.

There was only one problem:

It never freakin’ happened!

I laid down at 11:00 pm and naturally, being the night-owl that I am, I woke back up at about 3:30 in the morning. I couldn’t go back to sleep for nothing. So, I got up, made me a little snack, watched TV, piddled around and finally 8:00 am rolls around and….

Nothing.

By about 9:30, I had steam rolling out of my ears. I called back and got some white guy; who sounded like he had smoked a few cartons of Marlboro 100’s and bag of weed before coming to work. He apologized, and tried to please and then….again, wanted me to reset my silly routers, which at this point were not even connected to the silly cable modem, as I had it directly connected to the laptop. Finally, I got pissed and I said the magic words:

“If you idiots are not here by 12:00 NOON to fix my internet and swap this modem out, Wow Cable and Internet will be getting a new customer — and your stupid Cable Boxes and Cable Modem will be waiting for you on the porch on MONDAY!”

…and, with that — I hung up the phone. I was very highly annoyed with Comcast internet and if I were paying the bill, which I do not, my Father does; Comcast would already be minus a customer!

A couple of hours go by and I informed my Mother and Father about what happened; number one that Comcast’s Customer Service reps straight up lied to me about what time I would be getting a call, and then how the woman the previous night had hung up on me. My Father and Mother were not amused either.

Then, something rather odd happened:

Comcast called back…..and they got my Dad.

I have no idea what exactly my Father said to them; but whoo boy did they ever get an ear full! You see, my Father, like myself; is not too big on people who tell lies — especially when he happens to be having to foot the bill, for a service that is not working. 😯

You see, my Father is from Middlesboro, Kentucky, and we southern folk are not too keen on two things — Thieves and Liars.  Which is why I despise Democrats.  I should also mention that Comcast called back, twice after the first call back and talked to my Father again and my Mother. This is when the call went out for a tech to my place ASAP!

So, finally:

Somebody showed up!

Not only did I get a new modem, I got a new wiring job, from the pole to the splitter!  New hole drilled, and a very nice wiring job out back.

Nice tech, young guy, 31 years old. Very smart. Very friendly too.

My old modem, which died:

My old RCA modem that went Kaput! (Pardon my dust. I should do that more, I guess. But I don’t. I’m a guy, SUE ME! 😉 )

Was replaced with this one here:

It’s a Motorola cable modem. (Again, pardon my dust…)

Once it was done, and the tech left; I proceeded to fix the routers and now I have normal functioning internet again….finally! 😀

Now, that this little episode is over, I am going to take a nap — I need it, I am quite thoroughly pooped. Three hours of sleep, is three hours of sleep and I am about whipped.

A note to Comcast internet: Be glad my parents are paying the bills and not me. Because if I was, you would already be history. You got lucky, really lucky.

I think I might have spooked him

I read with mild interest that someone who left a comment on my blog two days ago, blog went dark.

Many people are saying it was law enforcement related. Well, it could have bend that —- or it could have been related to this:

When Neil left his comment on my blog. I got his IP address. It trace-routed to Seattle, Washington. I emailed him a message with the titled “Seattle Washington eh?” and said in the message, “I hope your not planning on swatting me, like you did Patrick Frey.”

Maybe I spooked the guy or something. •shrug•

It just seems pretty odd that he disappeared after I did all that. Maybe he felt the walls closing in.

Detroit: Swirling the drain

Hey, um, America? Want to see what you will look like in four years? Look here:

Moody’s Investors Service downgraded Detroit’s bond rating today deeper into junk status, citing uncertainty after the repeal of Michigan’s emergency manager law and a rising risk of municipal bankruptcy or default in the next 12-24 months.

Moody’s said Detroit’s inability to enact reforms meant to stabilize its finances was complicated by uncertainty after state voters repealed Michigan’s emergency manager law, Public Act 4, on Nov. 6, weakening state oversight of the city’s finances.

The ratings firm noted Detroit’s “precariously narrow cash position,” with Mayor Dave Bing’s administration warning that it will have to put potentially thousands of city employees on furlough Jan. 1 to avoid running $5 million short on cash to meet payroll.

The city’s program management director, William (Kriss) Andrews, has said Detroit is not at risk of missing debt payments, and he believes the city will be able to manage the cash crisis with furloughs and other cuts yet unidentified.

Sad thing, but this is what happens, when progressives run a city into the ground.
