No More Ho Ho’s

Looks like the bankruptcy could not be staved off.

Fox Business reports:

A U.S. bankruptcy judge approved Hostess Brands’ plan to wind down the company after last-minute mediation fell through Tuesday night between the snack maker and one of its biggest unions.

The liquidation comes after the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco and Grain Millers Union called a nationwide strike earlier in the month. Hostess, the maker of Wonder Bread and Twinkies, said in a statement Wednesday after the court hearing that the move by the labor union "crippled its operations at a time when [it] lacked the financial resources to survive a significant labor action."

Hostess plans on shuttering 33 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, approximately 5,500 delivery routes, 570 bakery outlet store as part of the liquidation process. Eventually, 18,500 employees will lose their jobs, although the company will retain a workforce of 3,200 as part of the wind down process.

Man, I was hoping the union and the company could come to an agreement. Darn it. Sad

Hopefully, someone brings the brands back. It’s a part of American culture, those darned twinkies.

Good News: Israel and Hamas agree to stop killing one another

The Story:

After a deadly eight-day conflict, Israel and Hamas militants agreed to a ceasefire effective Wednesday evening, the Egyptian foreign minister announced at a press conference. Mohammed Kamel Amr, the foreign minister, made the announcement in Cairo and was flanked by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. "Egypt is assuming the responsibility and leadership that has long made this country a cornerstone of international peace," Clinton said. The deal was brokered by the new Islamist government of Egypt, solidifying its role as a leader in the quickly shifting Middle East The cease-fire agreement, which took effect at 2 p.m. ET, was confirmed by Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Reuters reported that the Israeli leader warned in a statement that more forceful action may be employed if the cease-fire deal is unsuccessful. Netanyahu also left the door open to a possible ground invasion of Gaza at a later date. "I know there are citizens that expected a wider military operation and it could be that it will be needed. But at this time, the right thing for the state of Israel is to take this opportunity to reach a lasting ceasefire," he said.

Darn, I was hoping that Israel would wipe the Palestinian savages off of the map. Oh Well, next time, I suppose.

I will change the header back to something a bit less….hostile now. Big Grin

Now back to boring politics. Sleepy

I talk a mean game on here quite a bit about business and owning one and such. But, honestly? I would not have the stomach for that sort of wild and crazy ride.

In business there is risk, and this dude gambled and went up, way up. Now, the bottom is coming out for him and he’s coming down. The going up part is great. It’s that coming down stuff that really sucks. I’d lose it, if I lost that big after having so much and then losing it all.

Obviously somewhere along the line, this guy did not heed a sign that things were flying apart on him. He’ll pay a price for that, if he doesn’t go mad first.

Again, owning a business is great. But, not losing ones soul and mind; and not ending up bankrupt and broke in the process of owning one — is even better.

Mixed feelings on Commentary Magazine

On one hand, I feel encouraged to see this in Commentary Magazine:

One should be careful about labeling people anti-Semites. There is a difference between someone who is merely critical of Israel like Beinart and, for example, liberal church groups that seek to promote BDS measures or to cut off military aid to the Jewish state and make common ground with open Jew-haters to promote this cause. Unfortunately that is a distinction that liberals like Beinart are prepared to ignore in order to score bogus political points against easy targets like Murdoch.

I think it is good that someone posted that little bit of clear thinking.  However….

On the other hand

I seem to remember that this Magazine really let Ron Paul have it in a big way once. I wrote this once:

Update #3: Like clockwork, the mouthpiece of the biggest and most protected minority spews forth their bile towards Ron Paul. Question: What if someone, like me; spewed forth that sort of hate towards a Jewish Senator? I think you know the answer to that one.

I stand by that statement. The problem is that some of Commentary’s writers equate criticisms of Israel, The Likud Party, and Wilsonian Foreign Policy to be on par with Jewish hatred and support of the Holocaust and of Nazi Germany.  It is an utterly bogus accusation and it is sad thing, when American Jews resort to such tactics. Furthermore, I find it very ironic that Commentary will bend over backwards to defend Murdoch, but they have no problem smearing Ron Paul.  if Commentary Magazine is going to defend Rupert Murdoch from such accusations, they should not be so quick to toss them out against WASP’s like Ron Paul and myself and they should fire those who do.

I have been consistent in my feelings towards Wilsonian foreign policy, I reject it and I feel it is not good policy for America. I should not, neither should anyone else, like this guy here; be subjected to accusations of Antisemitism.  Of course, like many others; because I am an American Nationalist, I have been called an anti-Semite, by fat broads, who work for Femi-Nazi, affirmative action Conservatives; and many other things too — including a racist. Which I find to be absolutely amusing. I am not a racist or an anti-Semite. I just do not kiss anyone’s Black, Latino, or Jewish ass. I hate to put it that way, but it is the truth about me.

This why reform is needed in this conservative movement once and for all. This people who engage in these sort of leftist tactics need to be exposed and thrown out of our party, once and for all — Especially in this blogosphere.

Also too, yes, I know what I wrote here. Yes, Ron Paul’s associations are troubling. However, I do not believe that Ron Paul himself ought to be treated the way that he is, by the Jewish right.  Because condemning someone, for who they are associated with, is a tactic of the Frankfurt School of the political correctness; which is an institute of the left. Too bad that people like commentary magazine, and some in the Political Conservative Blogosphere — are simply continuing in that practice, supposedly after leaving the left.

Just my opinion.

I find it incredibly ironic that you send me e-mails wanting me to promote causes like this one here. The reason why I say this, because you are the ones who killed my AdSense account for no reason at all.

…and you advocate for Freedom of Speech on the internet? 🙄

Whom exactly do you really believe that you are kidding? Oh, right. it is the brain-dead sheep followers which use your services.

Idiots. 😡
