Uh-oh! Thieves make off with the Secret Service’s truck in Detroit

Oh, this is just what Detroit needs right here…. 🙄

Thieves stole a U-Haul truck in downtown Detroit Saturday night containing equipment for the U.S. Secret Service, which is in town for a Labor Day visit by Vice President Joe Biden.

“It won’t affect the visit at all,” said Secret Service spokesman Edward Donovan. “We would never compromise the security of a visit.”

Donovan said the agency rented the truck to haul equipment, some of which was in the vehicle when it was stolen from outside a downtown hotel, near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Michigan Avenue. The agents left the vehicle Saturday evening and discovered it missing Sunday morning, Donovan said.

Oh to have been a fly on the wall in that truck, when those thieves opened that back door and realized what they had stolen! 😯 Oh man.

I am quite sure that they uttered a couple words that I will not print on this blog. They may have made up a few as they went along as well. I am also sure that somewhere in that conversation that this was said: “How the heck are we going to fence this stuff?”

Proving my long-held belief that criminals might be brave, they might be bold, — but they are not entirely bright. 😉 😛 Believe me, I know what I speak. I have family members who suffer from “Stupid criminal can’t stay outta jail syndrome.” Thank God and my parents that I never turned out like that; I was good kid, who went to Church and did what my parents told me. (Well, most of the time!!) You know what? It shows too. Only interaction I have never had with the police; was when I got speeding tickets, which were all paid, promptly.

Good ol’ Detroit, where if you don’t nail it down; it will be stolen. 😀

Reuters/Ipsos poll: Romney and Obama tied

This is no surprise, Romney is fresh off a Convention and Obama is about to go into one. What will be thing to watch for, is if Obama gets any sort of bounce after the Convention.

With the Democrats set to nominate Obama for a second term this week in Charlotte, North Carolina, the race to the presidential election on November 6 is tight with 45 percent for Obama and 45 percent for Romney among likely voters, the survey found.

The findings were from the seventh day of a rolling online poll conducted for Reuters by Ipsos to judge voters’ attitudes around the political conventions.

Obama campaigned in Boulder, Colorado, the state where he accepted the Democratic presidential nomination four years ago, while Romney was off the campaign trail in New Hampshire, about to begin preparations for three debates with Obama in October.

There are some saying that there will be no bump for Obama after the Convention. But other say that there will be. It will be interesting to watch. I do feel however, that because of the trappings on this Convention and because of the lousy economy; people are going to look at Obama and think, “you have got to be kidding.” It is no wonder that people are fleeing the Democratic Party for the party of fiscal sanity.

Mitt Romney pushes back against critics who say he is ignoring the war

This is another one of those stupid liberal and somewhat neoconservative attacks.

Via Fox News:

Mitt Romney continued to take flak from Democrats over the weekend for not mentioning war in his nomination acceptance speech.

But the Republican campaign was quick to point out what critics seemed to be ignoring – Romney spent the day before his convention speech visiting the American Legion conference in Indianapolis, where he talked exclusively about national security and America’s veterans. President Obama, by contrast, addressed that conference in the form of a three-minute video aired at the conference site.

“Now that was an invitation that President Obama declined,” Romney senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom said in an interview Sunday. “Governor Romney thought it was a privilege to be speaking to people who had served so nobly.”

Though Romney did not mention the war in Afghanistan on Thursday night, he focused on that issue, as well as the veterans who are returning home, in his American Legion speech.

Hmmmmm… Perhaps it is the fact that Mitt Romney is mindful of stuff like this here?

Via Reuters:

(Reuters) – U.S. Forces in Afghanistan said on Sunday they have suspended training new recruits to the Afghan Local Police (ALP) amid a spike in the number of insider attacks which are damaging trust between Afghans and their allies.

The ALP is a militia, set up two years ago by U.S. Forces, in villages where the national police force — a separate body trained by NATO — is weak. The ALP has been beset by allegations of abuse and widespread corruption.

Rogue shootings have killed 45 NATO-led troops so far this year, 15 last month alone, despite the coalition taking steps to try prevent them, such as requiring foreign soldiers to carry loaded weapons at all times.

In a statement, U.S. Forces said they will temporarily suspend training of about 1,000 new ALP recruits while they re-vet members currently belonging to the 16,000-strong force.

“We believe this is a necessary step to validate our vetting process and ensure the quality indicative of Afghan Local Police,” it said.

Perhaps Mitt Romney is not wanting to be a President who continues to fight a war that simply cannot be won? Maybe Romney will call it a victory in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

We shall see on that, I hoping for the best on that subject. But I am preparing for the worst.

The funny thing is, the best that the liberal controlled media could do, is point out that Clint Eastwood was not in the video. How lame. 🙄

Vote for and support Mitt Romney and really stick it to the Liberal Media establishment!

Awesome Story: Beautiful Light in horrible darkness in Syria

This is one of those stories that makes me want to stick out my chest and go “Harrumph!”

The Video:

Beautiful Quote:

Doyle said God is using Christians to transform lives.

“As the believers get a chance to feed them and then they are trusted as safe people, they’ve had many opportunities to share the Gospel with some of these refugees,” he said.

“And there are even enough of them that they’ve started some small house churches, so God’s being glorified in the midst of this mess,” he added.

Doyle witnessed how the effort affected the life of one refugee.

“Some of the people were pushing them around and it was mass chaos and this woman looked at me and she said, ‘but it was the Bible people that came to us and gave us food and clothes and loved us and played with our children. It was the Bible people who were there for us,'” Doyle recalled.

“When she got done sharing her story she looked at me and said, ‘And I want you to know, I love Jesus now!'” he said.

Out of wartime tragedy, “The Bible People” are having an impact on the lives of the refugees by sharing the love of Christ, meeting material needs and shining light into the lives of Syrians fleeing chronic darkness. — Read the rest at CBNNews.com

Stories like this one here, give me hope in the fact that there still Christians out there; that still believe in the time old Bible passage:

14Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. — Romans 12:14-21

and…

27But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. 29And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also. 30Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. 31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. 32For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. 33And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. 34And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. 36Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. — Luke 6:27-36

Amen.
