Video: Jon Huntsman “Country First”

I tend to believe that if Mitt Romney was not running and the Republican Party was not so far in the right corner — this guy might have a chance.

Unfortunately, Mitt Romney is there and everyone hates him; and the rest of them cannot get elected. Poor ol’ Jon cannot get a break.

It is a good ad. It just will fall on deaf ears.

Just in time: Iran sentences American marine to death

….and fires up a uranium enrichment plant.

Just when Daley decides to bail too. Wow. 😯

Via Rueters:

(Reuters) – Iran’s Revolutionary Court has sentenced an Iranian-American man to death for spying for the CIA, officials said on Monday, a move likely to aggravate U.S.-Iranian tensions already high because of Tehran’s disputed nuclear program.

The United States denies that Amir Mirza Hekmati is a spy and has demanded his immediate release. The White House said it was trying to verify the report on his sentencing.

“If true, we strongly condemn such a verdict and will work with our partners to convey our condemnation to the Iranian government,” said Tommy Vietor, spokesman for the White House National Security Council.

Western nations have recently expanded punitive economic sanctions against Iran over suspicions it is trying to develop atomic bombs under the cover of a civilian atomic energy program. The Islamic Republic denies this.

But word from diplomatic sources in Vienna, headquarters of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, that Iran has begun enriching uranium in a mountain bunker protected from possible Western air strikes is likely to heat the atmosphere further.

UPDATEDBREAKING NEWS: Obama Chief of staff, Bill Delay to resign

Wow. This is a shock:

William Daley is resigning as White House chief of staff and budget chief Jack Lew will take his place, President Obama will announce Monday, Fox News has learned.

Daley entered the White House a year ago after Rahm Emanuel left to become Chicago mayor, replacing Daley’s retiring brother, Richard Daley, in that post.

Obama was to announce the change in a statement Monday afternoon. The change will be effective at the end of this month. —Source: Obama Chief Of Staff Bill Daley To Step Down | Fox News

I wonder if the book had anything to do with it?

I will add this, if I find anything else out.

Update: Hmmmmmmm:

WASHINGTON– When Michelle Obama worked in Mayor Daley’s City Hall in the early 1990s, she was “distressed” by how a small group of “white Irish Catholic” families — the Daleys, the Hynes and the Madigans — “locked up” power in Illinois.

And as she prepared to become first lady, Mrs. Obama naively wanted to delay a move into the White House for six months, so her daughters could finish the school year. Her initial thought was to “commute” to the White House from her South Side home.

And Marty Nesbitt, one of President Obama’s best friends, had been recruited to run for Chicago mayor by African-American leaders — but never ended up challenging Rahm Emanuel, who was Obama’s chief of staff who went on to win City Hall.

Details about Mrs. Obama’s initial reluctance to embrace her new life, her time in City Hall, the influence she has in the White House, tensions between Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett, Emanuel and former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs — are in a new book about the first couple by New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor.

…and yet, we white people are the only ones who can be actually racist. Funny how that works, is it not?

Update #2: Now a Memeorandum Thread.

Here is a good reason why I will be voting Republican in 2012

This is very scary…:

In his remarks, Genachowski said the program has been successful, but has also been plagued with problems of accountability and efficiency. Multiple service providers are often supplying Lifeline subsidies to the same households, he said, because there is no centralized system. To address the issue, Genachowski said, the draft proposal creates a national database of Lifeline users to prevent duplicative billing. It also sets a budget for Lifeline aimed at connecting eligible consumers while staying within budget, and requires that participating companies be subject to independent audits every two years. — via FCC’s Genachowski proposes broadband reform – Post Tech – The Washington Post

National Database of internet users? Yeesh. 🙁 The Democratic Party has gone mad. Go read, that whole thing. I will say this; that low income thing is a crock; if they do it for them, they will do it for everyone. This is why we have to win in 2012 and further more, Why we also have to pick a real Conservative and not some idiotic Rockerfeller big-goverment Republican. Which is why I do not quite understand why people like Michelle Malkin get upset over the back and forth that is going on.

The Republican grassroots and the Conservative grassroots; which does include me — needs to know what they are getting this time. The last time around, everyone just followed behind what the Republican establishment gave them. Not this time; we are better informed, and thanks to twitter, facebook and blogs, we communicate better. Which is why elitists like President Barack Obama hate the internet so much. To be fair, I would be willing to bet some Republicans dislike it too.

Palin’s Hubby endorses Newt

This comes via Ace:

Todd Palin said he believes that being in the political trenches and experiencing the highs and lows help prepare a candidate for the future and the job of president.

He did not criticize any of the other candidates and said his “hat is off to everyone” in the Republican race.

But Todd Palin did point to last summer, when a large portion of Gingrich’s staff resigned and the candidate was left, largely by himself, to run the campaign.

Gingrich’s ability to overcome the obstacle and still move up in the polls showed his ability to campaign and survive, according to Todd Palin, who said Gingrich is not one of the typical “beltway types” and that his campaign has “burst out of the political arena and touched many Americans.” — Todd Palin Endorses Newt Gingrich – ABC News

I will resist the temptation to mock her for having her hubby do her dirty work. It could very well be that they both disagree on whom they support. It is primary season after all. I really do not see this being any sort of a game changer or anything. I will say this — the reason Newt’s staffers bolted back last summer is because they did not think Newt was really serious about running. Hmmm, kinda like — wait. I won’t say it. Never mind. 🙄

Ya know, I don’t always agree with Michelle Malkin; but this is very good.

Michelle Malkin is bit more “Firebrandy’er” than me. But, she makes a very good point here.

CBS News reports via Twitter:

Huntsman tells reporters in Concord: “Governor Romney enjoys firing people; I enjoy creating jobs.”

It’s a reference to this:

Mitt Romney, who’s under attack for his business record, said Monday that he likes to have the option of firing people.

“I like being able to fire people who provide services to me,” he told business executives from the Nashua Greater Chamber of Commerce, adding if he isn’t getting a “good service, I want to say, I’m going to get someone else.”

The point will get lost down the demagogic rabbit hole:

He added: “You know, if someone doesn’t give me the good service I need, I want to say, ‘You know, I’m going to get someone else to provide that service to me.’”

Mitt Romney’s chronic flip-flopping political career is teeming with reasons to oppose his nomination — from his support for racial preferences, to government funding of abortion, liberal judges, global warming enviro-nitwittery, TARP, auto bailouts, the Obama stimulus, gun control, and of course, individual health insurance mandates that presaged Obamacare.

Instead of focusing on his long political record of expedience, incompetent non-Romneys have morphed into Michael Moore propagandists — throwing not just Bain Capital under the bus, but wealth creators of all kinds who take risks in the private marketplace.

We’re screwed.  via Michelle Malkin » The abysmal incompetence of the non-Romneys

I don’t share her pessimism; it okay to paint contrasts between the establishment and the grassroots, between Moderates and Hardcores and so forth. However, like Mrs. Malkin points out, we should not start sounding like Michael Moore on process of doing such an exercise. 😯

I mean, Michael Moore is a fairly big guy and I do not think we should be trying to squeeze between him and Nancy Pelosi on thier side of the street. Put another way; its okay to strum the guitar of populism, but let’s not start taking up camp in “tent city,” those people stink and we do take showers. (Well, some of us do! 😉 )

Tony Blankley RIP

Pat Buchanan is a fine American

Furthermore, anyone who opposes his views, when it comes to foreign policy, trade, and fiscal policy are anti-American, a liberal or a Neoconservative.

(AP)  PASADENA, Calif. — MSNBC’s top executive said Saturday that he hasn’t decided whether conservative commentator and author Pat Buchanan will be allowed back on the network.

Buchanan, a former GOP presidential candidate and a paid MSNBC contributor, hasn’t been on the network since the publication of his book “Suicide of a Superpower” last October. The book has chapters titled “The End of White America” and “The Death of Christian America” and its author argues that the United States is in the “Indian summer of our civilization.”

“When Pat was on his book tour, because of the content of the book, I didn’t think it should be part of the national dialogue much less part of the dialogue on MSNBC,” said MSNBC President Phil Griffin. The minority advocacy group Color of Change has circulated a petition urging MSNBC to fire Buchanan.

Buchanan did appear for an interview about his book in October on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” where host Sean Hannity said, “welcome out of exile.”

Griffin would not discuss the length of Buchanan’s contract with MSNBC or whether it would be renewed. — Via MSNBC chief: No decision on Pat Buchanan’s return – CBS News

Pat Buchanan is a rare person, who speaks candidly about racial realism in America. The Marxist tools at MSNBC and the Marxist tools on the right who oppose him are not worthy enough —- to tie his shoes. I feel the way, about this man, the way Ron Paul’s people feel about him.

Buy ALL of Pat Buchanan’s books right here:

You say, “I thought you didn’t support Antisemitism or Racism?” I don’t. But, I do support those who dare to tell the truth about those who support Wilsonian foreign policy and internationalist Democrats and Republican Globalists; who are selling America’s birthright right out from under us everyday. Further more, I support someone who calls these Neoconservative warmonger’s for what they are; warmongers who would drive American into bankruptcy to support a Nation, who views we, the American people as useful idiots. Further more, Israel is much capable of handling its own affairs and does not need the United States meddling in them. Israel’s President said that himself, during a joint session of Congress.

So, all this silliness about racism and Antisemitism is nothing more than the liberal and neoconservative establishment protecting their turf. Kinda like these idiots below:

Pat Buchanan’s website is here

Update: Now, obviously, I do not agree with Mr. Buchanan on his views about World War 2. However, it is a fact that Germany did not attack America on December 7, 1941; Japan did.  However, I am mindful that the Germans did sink some of our private vessels off the coasts of California, Texas and New York.  Having said that, why is it, that the Neoconservative and liberal establishments wish to silence this man? It is simply a form of soft-fascism; something the left invented long ago and it seems that the right likes to play that game too. I know it too well, I have taken so controversial stances myself in the past and have challenged  some of the so-called “Darlings” of the Neoconservative establishment and I have been banished to pariah status in the Blogosphere because of it.
