Memo to all Bloggers: Watch yourselves, Please?

I would advise all Bloggers, who are writing about the Palin E-mail Scandal, to be very careful about posting pictures of the said, But still uncharged supposed suspect.

Because if in the outside chance that this guy did not have anything to do with the hacking of Palin’s account. You all could be setting yourselves up for a libel lawsuit. I mean, slander is a legit lawsuit charge and this kids daddy is in the House of Representatives. If you think this guy is dirt poor, think again. I’m sure he has deep pockets and if his kid gets smeared unfairly, he might be out for blood, or well, Money. After all, we are dealing with Liberal Democrats here. Does anyone remember what John Edwards did for a living?

This is why I have been avoiding the subject, other than to comment on it in passing. This is why I have not been posting the dudes picture, at all. I just do not need the legal troubles here. You might think that I am full of it. But think about it for a second. I mean, google search is not that hard to do, to find out who’s talking about your kid, and all this guys parents would have to do is, perform a image search on google and see where their kids image pops up and then do a whois on the domain and then get court orders to force said blog hosting companies to release Whois records. You might think I’m full of it. But you got to realize, money gets you everywhere in the legal system nowadays. Just ask Detroit’s Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

Not trying to scare anyone or anything, but sometimes a little common sense goes a long way. The worst thing anyone can do in blogging is believe that they are untouchable. That is simply not the case. Slander lawsuits happen, and it is best to err on the side of caution. Especially when the facts are not fully known yet. I know the guy is over 21, but still, if daddy warbucks has deep pockets and really loves his kid and wants to protect the kid’s and his reputation, some of you might be looking at lawsuits.

So, in closing, my point is, it is better to be safe, than sorry, or in this case, sued.

Detroit Democratic Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s final statement to Detroit

This comes via The Detroit Free Press:

“Being elected Mayor of Detroit, my hometown, was an honor and a privilege,” he said. “I want to thank everyone who supported me through the years. I am proud of the fact that we, as a community, were able to accomplish so much in such a short period of time.”

Kilpatrick, who leaves office at 11:59 p.m. tonight, said transition meetings with incoming Mayor Ken Cockrel Jr. concluded Wednesday.

“We believe he now has all the information needed for a smooth transition,” he said. “I wish Ken Cockrel Jr. the best of luck. I encourage the citizens of Detroit to lend your support to him as he assumes the role of our city’s Interim Mayor. He will need your support because the job of Mayor requires making the tough but not always popular decisions in order to advance our city. Thank you for the honor of serving you. God bless Detroit.”

Having shared that, I’d like to share a freakin’ hilarious Animated Cartoon by Detroit Free Press Cartoonist Mike Thompson. Click the picture and be prepared to laugh, hard.

Just a thought…But

Seeing that John McCain is making rather idiotic gaffes like Firing the SEC chair, Which he cannot do and then basically insulting the Prime Minister of Spain

It’s no damn wonder he is slipping in the polls. Well, that and picking a Vice President who’s biggest accomplishment was being a PTA Board Member, A Mayor and The Governor of Alaska. That and being able to see Russia from her house.

It’s no damn wonder she’s being dis invited and canceling appearances.

Just sayin’…

Some good advice…

The Other McCain offers some good advice for lazy Bloggers. (Like me!)

Unlike McCain, I could care less, if I ever make a top Bloggers list.

One of the main reasons is, when people start putting you on a pedestal, you start having to live up to the hype.

One thing I do not want to be noted for is hype. I want to be noted for my honesty.

The problem with the hype crowd is that, there is usually no substance to the hype. There are a few exceptions to that rule, but 90 percent of the time, it’s mostly hype and only mostly hype.

Snort Worthy Quote of the Day

From Ann Coulter’s Latest Article “OBAMA: LUCIFER IS MY HOMEBOY”

In Freddoso’s book, he quotes from the dedication in the first edition of Alinsky’s seminal book, “Rules for Radicals,” where Alinsky wrote:

“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: From all our legends, mythology and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.”

I suppose it could have been worse. He could have dedicated his book to George Soros.

Taking Issue….

I normally do not comment on things I see written on other Blogs. Because the last time I did it. I did it wrong and a whole bunch of crap got started. This was in another Blog incarnation that I ran, Before I decided that the “Left of Center” of the political pool was NOT where I wanted to be anymore.

So, having said that, let me just say that I do not intend this to be a “Blog War”, at all. Because I am just not interested in fighting over politics, it is just not worth it. So, this is not to be considered picking a fight, but rather just a comment on something written on another Blog. If they happen to come read this, fine. If they don’t, no big loss.

First off, Jeff over at Protein Wisdom said something about the whole Sarah Palin hacked e-mail thing and I kind of took issue with it.

Jeff said:

A quick beef: Anonymous is not, from what I can tell, necessarily “left wing” — though they most certainly are little wannabe fascists. From what I can gather, they likely think of themselves more as TRUTHTELLERS with an anarchist strain, and so may be of the left-libertarian / anarchist bent. In other words, politically confused.

Sorry Jeff, As someone that I.D.’s himself as a Libertarian Conservative, I do have to take issue with that…..and I’ll explain why, okay? So just hear me out a little here.

Yes, I know about the Sarah Palin e-mail scandal

Yes, I know about the email story. No, I’m not quoting it or putting any of those pictures here. As it might cross into legal issues, and quite frankly, jail sucks.

There’s a little funny story behind my finding out about it.

As a Blogged about earlier, I had to attend a memorial service for my Dad’s Sister, who died on Sept 10.

Well, that few hours, turned into about a 5 hour event and seeing I was living on about 4 hours sleep, from like the previous evening. I was dog tired.  Hell, if someone would have told me that the Russians were firing nukes at the United States, I would have most likely have told them, that as long as they didn’t land in my bedroom, I didn’t honestly give two flips, as I was tired and going to sleep. Needless to say, my bed was looking mighty fine by the time I made it back home.

Anyhow, I finally awoke from my slumber around 7:30, Hell, I slept through a Pizza delivery. I never sleep through a pizza delivery, ever.

So, anyhow, I woke up, put my glasses on, and got my pizza slices out of the microwave, and I took a bite and opened my news source and this story was the headliner. I nearly choked on my pizza! 😯 😮

Now I said all that to say all this. My reaction to this story is….. Well, basically, Yawn and if you’re a big time Government person like Palin, Why the hell would you use a web e-mail service like yahoo anyhow? That just doesn’t strike me as very smart at all.

I mean, The Republicans are trying to run this narrative that they’re so much better than the Democrats. Needless to say, this is not helping further that narrative at all.

You can follow the story and see the opinions at Memeornadum and TechMeMe. Me? I’m going back to bed. I need more sleep. 😛

Gone for a few hours

Remember the death of my Father’s eldest sister that I blogged about earlier?

Well, her memorial service is today. So, I must be getting about the business of getting ready for that.

Please, hold me up in your prayers during this rather difficult event. I am going on like 4 hours of sleep too. So, that ought to make it really, really fun! 🙄

Either way, this is not going to be an easy day for me. 🙁 😥

I will resume blogging later today.

Ted Stevens, on trial and still pulling the bucks….

Now that is pretty darned talented! Or at best, slick.

Via The Hill:

Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) is busy fending off federal charges and scrambling to retain his seat, but that hasn’t affected his appetite for earmarks.

Stevens has secured the most earmarks in the Senate defense appropriations bill, according to an analysis by The Hill. The Hill reviewed projects requested by individual members that made it into the spending measure.

Stevens’s earmark share in the defense bill is more than $200 million. The indicted senator is likely to tout that haul on the campaign trail.

Senate appropriators recently disclosed close to $3 billion in project requests that were not included in the Pentagon’s budget request for fiscal 2009, according to a calculation by The Hill and Taxpayers for Common Sense (TCS). That is more than $2 billion less than what the Senate disclosed last year.

Sens. Stevens and Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), the ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, top the list with about $215 million in earmarks each.

Stevens stands out because he made the majority of requests by himself, sharing only a few with Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). By comparison, many of Cochran’s requests come together with Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) or other senators.

Stevens relinquished his spot as the ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Defense panel in July after being charged with seven counts of concealing more than $250,000 worth of home renovations and gifts from a now-defunct oil-services company, Veco Corp. Cochran stepped in as the ranking member of the Defense panel to replace Stevens.

The longest-serving Republican senator has pleaded not guilty and is hoping to clear his name before he faces Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich (D) in the November election. Stevens last month easily won the GOP primary.

Just like in previous years, Stevens — who stepped down before his panel officially marked up the bill — is once again able to secure funds for a wealth of programs benefiting Alaska.

I got to hand it to the guy. He can bring in the cash. Even while being investigated by the feds. That’s pretty darned good. 😀

Although, I do not think that many others would call that talent. Dirty rotten no good….well, you know… Perhaps. But Talent? Nah. slick? Possibly.
