Turd Blossom gets a divorce

Now this is interesting:

Karl Rove, former senior adviser to President George W. Bush, has been granted a divorce in Texas after 24 years of marriage, family spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

“Karl Rove and his wife, Darby, were granted a divorce last week,” said Perino. “The couple came to the decision mutually and amicably, and they maintain a close relationship and a strong friendship. There will be no further comment, and the family requests that its privacy be respected.”

The Roves were married in January 1986.

A family friend told POLITICO: “After 24 years of marriage, many of which were spent under incredible stress and strain during the White House years, the Roves came to a mutual decision that they would end the marriage. They did spend Christmas together with their son, and they plan to spend time together in the future. They maintain a strong friendship, and they both feel that that friendship is a source of comfort and inspiration for their friends and family.”

This proves what I have believed all along. That social Conservatism is nothing more, than a well-planned and executed joke. I will not do the pile-on about Rove’s stances on Gay Marriage. However, I will present this video, done by Jack Hunter, who now Video Blogs over at the American Conservative. In this video, Jack makes some very valid points about the establishment Republicans in Washington D.C. at the 3:13 mark is where Jack really makes the point that I am making here.

I will be the first to admit; I do not always agree with Jack on foreign policy and war. However, I am in total agreement with him on the subject of social Conservatism. I being a child of the 1980’s, I remember very clearly all the talk that Reagan was going to get prayer back into schools, was going to see to it that Abortion was outlawed. Now did any of that stuff ever happen? Um, No. That is because the Republicans of that era, were exploiting the Conservative Christian community for their vote. Sort of like what Barack Obama’s campaign did to the far left during the election of 2008.

Andrew Sullivan sticks his foot in his mouth

(H/T Instapundit)

Looks like our resident Faux Conservative stuck his foot in his mouth…..again

Via Jonah Goldberg:

It seems lately that “neocon” has become Andrew Sullivan’s term for any Jew who disagrees with… Andrew Sullivan. And no, I’m not accusing Andrew Sullivan of being anti-Semitic, or Hannah Rosenthal, for that matter, of being anti-Semitic. (Here’s what I think about the state of Andrew’s Semitism, if you care.) And I don’t think anyone has accused Rosenthal of being anti-Semitic. Dopey, yes, but anti-Semitic? I wish that Andrew wouldn’t try to preclude debate over her qualifications for what could be an important job by bringing up a charge no credible person has made.

Which proves to anyone half a ounce of a brain, that you cannot play ball for both teams and be a legitimate voice in the Blogosphere. No, I am not talking about Sullivan’s sexual preference. Although, he is batting for the wrong team in that aspect; but I digress.  I am referring to his political leanings; which are, by most accounts, quite liberal. The problem is, when you side with the socialist Democrats, you end up on the wrong side of the argument when it comes to Israel. That, or you start sounding like Pat Buchanan or Ron Paul. Which is why I parted ways with that Paleo-Conservative crowd. I am not one to kiss anyone’s rear because of their gender, race, creed or Religion. But I just cannot sit and hate a racial group in a monolithic sense, like the White Nationalists. That is a sickness, and I am afraid that I just cannot do that. I have, admittedly been known to slip and say some rather politically incorrect things about  the various minority races. (Mainly Blacks, because of some of batshit crazy stuff in those circles, now that they got their “Jim Jones” Leader of the plantation…)  But to say that I have a monolithic hatred of any race, is just inaccurate.

Updated: Symphony of stupid: Terrorism continues to be a threat, Politicians play blame games

I do not always agree with him on the finer points of Conservatism; but my friend Ed Morrissey scored a nice catch here. Seems that our attempted plane bomber fiend has friends:

American officials have cause to worry there may be more al Qaeda-trained young men in Yemen planning to bring down American jets.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, charged with the attempted Christmas Day bombing of Northwest Airlines flight 253, told FBI agents there were more just like him in Yemen who would strike soon.

And in a tape released four days before the attempted destruction of the Detroit-bound Northwest plane, the leader of al Qaeda in Yemen boasted of what was planned for Americans, saying, “We are carrying a bomb to hit the enemies of God.”

Yemen has become a principal al Qaeda training ground and the accused suicide bomber told the FBI he was trained for more than a month in Yemen, given 80 grams of a high explosive cleverly sewn into his underpants, undetected by standard security screening.

This comes on the heels of another lovely piece of news, that Mr. Plane Bomber might have had some help:

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Dutch military police are investigating the possibility that an accomplice may have helped the Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day, a spokesman said on Monday.

A U.S. couple on the flight, Kurt and Lori Haskell, told Reuters and other news agencies that they saw a tall, well-dressed man aged about 50 with the suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on Friday morning at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.

The Haskells have claimed the man spoke for Abdulmutallab and attempted to get him aboard Northwest flight 253 without a passport.

“At this moment we have no information on whether there was another guy,” the military police spokesman said. “We are checking all clues and information we get.”

In light of all this, is this the best that the Democrats and Republicans can do in Congress? Sit and blame one another? Lame response folks, lame, lame, lame, response. Oh yes, lets play the idiotic and childish blame game on each other, while tens of millions of lives are at stake. No wonder the American people have turned against this Congress and this President; because they are too damned busy trying to blame others, instead of trying to fix the damned problem in the first place!

The elections of 2010 and 2012 cannot come fast enough; because it is quite obvious that this Congress and this President are more interested in playing politics with terrorism, just like the last President did during his tenure in office and the American people, present company included, are sick and tired of the damn political shell games. Al-Qaeda is a serious threat to the United States of America’s National Security, and we need more than just Washington D.C. Politics of blaming one another, we need action and we need it now, before some plane is blown up over my damned house in Lincoln Park, Michigan, which is about 10 miles from the Detroit Metro Airport. Having said all that, to Congress and the President and his Cabinet — Enough of the god damned political games people. I want to be secure in living this house by the airport. I do not care who is to blame for what. I just want it fixed and I wanted it fixed now, please. Thank you.

I swear, there are days, when I believe that I am blogging about schoolchildren!

Update: Al-Qaeda has taken responsibility for the attempted attack. Here is a google translated view of the page. Not the best of good enough to give you an idea.

Memphis, TN Man Arrested, Accused of Making Bomb Threats & Threatening to Start 'Holy War'

It begins:

MEMPHIS, TN – Tonight, Mohamed Ibrahim is out after posting $100 bond. Earlier in the day, he was arrested after police say he walked into several Memphis businesses and threatened to blow them up.

Court records show Ibrahim was also telling people he was Muslim, and wanted to start a jihad, or holy war, in Memphis.

Police say when they arrested him, he had a butcher knife hidden in one of his jacket sleeves.

Updated: Breaking News: Police Arrest another 'Disruptive' Passenger on an Amsterdam to Detroit Flight at Detroit Metro Airport – FBI Issues 'All Clear"

Here we go again!:

Metro Airport spokesman John Witner said there was a report of suspicious activity on the Delta/Northwest flight 253 from Amsterdam Sunday. That is the same flight number as the flight that a Nigerian man was suspected of attempting to blow up over Detroit on Christmas Day.

All 257 passengers and 12 crew have deplaned safely, said Delta spokeswoman Susan Elliott. The flight landed safely in Detroit at 12:34 p.m. Sunday.

The flight crew requested that law enforcement meet the aircraft after a passenger on the plane became verbally disruptive, said Elliott.

Fox News is now reporting that a Nigerian man locked himself in the bathroom, flight crew kicked in the door and detained the guy; the man then became irate and ended up having to be restrained. FBI and other agencies are on the scene at Metro Airport.

Update #1: The New York Times is reporting:

DETROIT — The pilots of Northwest Airlines Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit — the same flight involved in Friday’s terrorism attempt — requested emergency assistance Sunday upon landing in Detroit, Scott Wintner, an airport spokesman said. The crew had requested police assistance on the ground because a passenger was “verbally disruptive,” according to a statement from Delta Airlines, which acquired with Northwest last year.

Update #2: Fox News Reports that there is report that this man may have just been sick. I am working on getting confirmation on this. Standby.

Update #3: WDIV is basically reporting the same story as above, working on getting confirmation of the sick passenger.

Update #4: WWJ Radio also reports the same story, via the AP.

Update #5: It just dawned on me, this is the same flight that the person was detained on, on Christmas day.

Update #6: It is now being reported that this might not be a serious incident. But still I am watching everything.

Update #7: It has been confirmed by three different sources to Fox News that this was sick passenger. I see a Lawsuit. 🙄

Update #8: Fox News Reports at 4:00 P.M. that the “All Clear” has just been issued. Seems this was a coincidental incident. Ouch. What a day to get sick on a plane… 😯

'Vacation's Over, Mr. President.' Says, HuffPo

I agree with the premise, however, there is something Steve should remember:

It’s Christmas day, and the only thing that stopped 12/25 from feeling a lot like 9/11 was a failed detonator and a guy named Jasper Schuringa. Weather now seems like a quaint travel threat – like a cold does compared to the Bubonic Plague.

It's December 26th, and the last of my guests arrive keenly aware of what happened over the skies of Detroit. Across America, everybody’s gut tightens and old fears and old wounds re-open.

Meanwhile, the president continues his vacation. News that he hit the gym 15 minutes after being briefed on the attack – and had a lovely time playing golf later that day – begin to trickle in.

America lucked out this holiday season. It’s as simple as that. Something terrible could have happened and It was the bravery of passengers, and the ineptitude of a would-be terrorist, that prevented it.

Not the police bottlenecking the only road into the airport. Not the nice lady making sure my liquids were in the right containers. Not the German shepherd sniffing my boy parts.

It was luck.

And if you’re like me – that scared the crap out of you. You probably wanted assurances. What will be done to prevent this? How are we reacting?

If you’re like me, you’re not looking for Attorney General Eric Holder, or Representative Pete King to be telling you how it could have been worse or how it will be managed.

When the nation is attacked, I expect to be informed and hopefully calmed by the President of the United States.

via Steve Marmel: Vacation’s Over, Mr. President..

Steve, I do not know what the chances are of you actually reading this; but I will just say it anyway. I know how you feel my friend. I felt the same way, when I found out about this terror attack here in my hometown; at an airport that is less than 15 minutes from my house. In fact, planes coming from the south, fly right over my house. Sure, the planes are at great altitude, but they are still there. Anyhow, as I wrote last night, the Government just cannot protect us from every attack. It is virtually impossible. Yes, we got lucky.

However, I do agree with your assessment, it was a bit unnerving to see the President vacationing in Hawaii, while this big of a emergency was happening, right in my own backyard. It had all the visual aspects of what Bush did during Katrina. It might even come back to haunt Obama on the 2012 election; I do not know if it would be fair or even proper to do that to the man. But the fact is, we was ‘on vacation’ when it happened; and you have to know, someone who runs against him is going to use that little fact against him, especially on the right. As much as I have a great disdain for President Obama and his idiotic progressive agenda, I happen to know that there was not much more that the President could have done. He could have flown back to D.C. and had the attack not been prevented, he would have, I would assume. But the fact is, like you said, we did get lucky on this one.

So, from someone, who is less than 10 miles from the said incident —- I understand and yes, I do get it.

The foiled terror attack, what it really means

This little article has been festering in my brain all day today. I finally believe that I might have enough here to really convey a thought or two. The recent information on the foiled terror attack here in Detroit is quite startling. First off, it is being reported that the terrorist’s father had notified the U.S. Government that his son was becoming ever increasingly radical in his Muslim beliefs. Second, the United States Government knew about this person for over two years and was either unable or unwilling to do anything about it.

This is a glaringly obvious deduction that anyone, with any kind of common sense and reasoning should realize, and that is that the United States Government cannot and will not totally protect the American people from a terrorist attack. The only people that can prevent such an event from happening, is the American people themselves. This is one instance when the “Nanny State” just does not work. A perfect example of this is the person that prevented this horrific act of cowardice from taking place. His name is Jasper Schuringa and he is not even an American. Jasper knew that it was either the terrorist or him; and he acted accordingly. Jasper deserves the highest of honors from our Government that is because he did, what our President has not seem interested in doing, and that is to tell the terrorists that the battle is on and that are willing and able to fight them in any capacity that is required to defeat them. Jasper did not wait for the big “Nanny State” government to do their job; he simply took care of business and for that, he should be commended. To any progressives reading this — I am sorry, but dithering around on the issue of Afghanistan is not what I consider leadership. By dithering, I mean delaying the increase needed in troops and then not sending the number of troops asked for, by the commanders on the ground. That is not leadership — that is a sad joke, which sums up this President in a phrase.

Another thought is this; for all of the errors in the thinking of the Libertarians and their idiotic Party, they do have one thing right, and that is that these terror attacks are result of war. As along as the United States of America has forces in Afghanistan and Iraq, there will be these sorts of attacks on our soil. The problem is that the libertarians believe that we should just pull out of the Afghanistan war and admit defeat. This would be grave error on the part of our Government, it would prove to Al-Qaeda that the United States is weak and can be easily defeated. If anything; at this point, the United States should step up its attacks on the hiding places of the Al-Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan and other places abroad. Ronald Reagan believed in peace through strength, and the United States should continue that policy now, by not allowing these wretched terrorists win the battle. We should do this by making these Islamic thugs lives a living hell and chase them to the ends of the earth, as President George W. Bush pledged to do in the days after 9/11.

The United States of America has a rich history of defending the homeland, and we should continue that traditions until these turban-wearing thugs are thoroughly defeated and victory is realized.

The Chutzpah of Think Progress

Seems that Think Progress has a great deal of Chutzpah this morning. Accusing Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI) of politicizing the attempted terrorist attack here in Detroit.  One only need to look at the archives of Think Progress to see how they and the rest of the Democratic Party politicized the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita during the Presidency of George W. Bush.

Now, you say, “Well, that was different!” and to that I ask you, “How so?” Is liberal Democratic organization like the Center of American Progress politicizing a natural disaster any better, than a Republican Representative supposedly politicizing a terrorist attack? The answer is, no. They are both wrong. But, yet, the liberals believe that they are right, because they’re defending the current socialist President.

Think Progress has much Chutzpah, after how they accused President Bush of some of the most outlandish crap back after the hurricane; including the Hollywood crowd and the Music people saying that Bush hated black people and so forth. The truth of the matter is that the CITY and STATE Government failed, not the Federal Government. It was after the droning of the Liberal WHINE, that the federal Government had to step in and take over.

I mean, does anyone remember THIS picture?

Those were buses, buses that could have been used by the city to get people out of the area. But did Ray Nagin do that; no, he sat on his ass and did not use them and then blamed Bush and Co. in Washington D.C. for not coming to the rescue.

So, much Chutzpah on the part of the liberals to even dare to complain about politizing of anything at all. As they have done the same very thing themselves.
