It Begins – Thought Control: Maryland Teacher suspended and ordered to undergo mental evaluation for fictional novel about school shooting
Yes, that’s right — ordered to undergo an “Emergency Mental Evaluation” for a fictional novel. In Maryland… The Atlantic reports:
From the Dept. of Insane and Dangerous Overreactions to Fictional Threats:
A 23-year-old teacher at a Cambridge, Maryland, middle school has been placed on leave and—in the words of a local news report—”taken in for an emergency medical evaluation” for publishing, under a pseudonym, a novel about a school shooting. The novelist, Patrick McLaw, an eighth-grade language-arts teacher at the Mace’s Lane Middle School, was placed on leave by the Dorchester County Board of Education, and is being investigated by the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, according to news reports from Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The novel, by the way, is set 900 years in the future.

He’s a man with many names, and the books he has written have raised the concerns of the Dorchester County Board of Education and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.
Early last week the school board was alerted that one of its eighth grade language arts teachers at Mace’s Lane Middle School had several aliases. Police said that under those names, he wrote two fictional books about the largest school shooting in the country’s history set in the future. Now, Patrick McLaw is placed on leave.
Dr. K.S. Voltaer is better known by some in Dorchester County as Patrick McLaw, or even Patrick Beale. Not only was he a teacher at Mace’s Lane Middle School in Cambridge, but according to Dorchester Sheriff James Phillips, McLaw is also the author of two books: “The Insurrectionist” and its sequel, “Lillith’s Heir.”
Those books are what caught the attention of police and school board officials in Dorchester County. “The Insurrectionist” is about two school shootings set in the future, the largest in the country’s history.
Phillips said McLaw was taken in for an emergency medical evaluation. The sheriff would not disclose where McLaw is now, but he did say that he is not on the Eastern Shore. The same day that McLaw was taken in for an evaluation, police swept Mace’s Lane Middle School for bombs and guns, coming up empty.

Imagine that—a novelist who didn’t store bombs and guns at the school at which he taught. How improbable! Especially considering that he uses an “alias,” which is apparently the law-enforcement term for “nom de plume.” (Here is theAmazon page for The Insurrectionist, by the way. Please note that the book was published in 2011, before McLaw was hired.)
According to an equally credulous and breathless report in the Star-Democrat, which is published in Easton, Maryland, the combined efforts of multiple law-enforcement agencies have made area children safe from fiction. Sheriff Phillips told the newspaper that, in addition to a K-9 sweep of the school (!), investigators also raided McLaw’s home. “The residence of the teacher in Wicomico County was searched by personnel,” Phillips said, with no weapons found. “A further check of Maryland State Police databases also proved to be negative as to any weapons registered to him. McLaw was suspended by the Dorchester County Board of Education pending an investigation and is no longer in the area. He is currently at a location known to law enforcement and does not currently have the ability to travel anywhere.

Jonathan Turley: “Unless there is some really chilling evidence that has not been uncovered, McLaw may have an extraordinary lawsuit in the making. Various news sites are reporting that McLaw was put through this nightmare because of his novels. If so, this is a ridiculous and abusive series of actions by both school and police officials. If there is something more, these officials need to be clear that there was some evidence beyond the novels that prompted these actions. No guns or bombs were found in the school or his home. So what is going on? As the novel states, it is “evident that the hysteria is far from over.”
InstaPundit: “These are the people you trust to educate your children, and keep your streets safe — and they’re complete, blithering idiots armed with the power of the state. Tar and feathers isn’t enough. And, really, isn’t it parental malpractice to put your kids in the hands of people who can’t tell truth from fiction?”
National Review’s Charles Cook writing at the corner says: “It is difficult to imagine a worse instinct in a free country. Because an American citizen wrote a fictional account of a shooting, he needs to be dealt with by the authorities? Well, if this is our standard, we’re going to have to arrest an awful lot of people — among them those who have written about rape, murder, arson, assault, embezzlement, and anything else that is prohibited under the law. If this were our historical approach, Agatha Christie would have been hanged. — At the root of this is a witless fear of firearms — one that has pervaded many of America’s schools since Sandy Hook and before. This fear has led to children beingsuspended for pointing their fingers at others and saying, “bang!”; forfashioning Pop Tarts into the shape of pistols; and for writing fictionalized accounts in which they kill fictional dinosaurs with fictional guns. It was only a matter of time before the paranoia reached the adult world. It is the job of every right-thinking person to ensure that it does not metastasize there.”

All very good observations. Let me simply add to this that this is Government and the world that is to come. As a Christian and an Independent, Fundamental Baptist, I can say that the Bible predicts this sort of Government in the end times. Once the rapture of the Church takes place, the one world Government under the anti-Christ will be just like this or even worse.

On the Stephen Colbert flap #CancelColbert
This is not a blog posting to defend Stephen Colbert; I am not a fan of his show at all.
However, it is a posting to basically point out some obvious things here. I am sure you all have heard about the flap that Colbert has found himself in. You can read more about that, as well as the blogging reactions by clicking here.
I also notice that Michelle Malkin is one of the people, on the so-called “right” that is leading the charge against Colbert. Allow me to say here, what I said over at The American Spectator in the comments section there:
Michelle Malkin is a NEOCONSERVATIVE. Neocons are just like Democrat progressives. They like freedom of speech — just as long as it is inline with THEIR worldview. They are right up there with the progressive Democrats; as they are progressives themselves — when it comes to issues of so-called “offensive speech.”
In the old days, Neocons were called communist conservatives, and for a very good reason.
Hence my reason for ID’ing myself as a paleoconservative, like Pat Buchanan. A former “blue-dog” Democrat tuned Paleoconservative. Because the neocons are not much different than the progressive left, just a new label and not much else.
Did you notice some of the comebacks to the so-called offensive tweet, were actually anti-white? That’s not by accident. Most Progressives and most progressive conservatives AKA neocons are also anti-white. Michelle Malkin is one of those types. Praise the white man, until he does something that is out of bounds on the progressives reservation and then, BAM! Turn on him, like a rabid dog.
That’s the progressive way —- left or right.
Take it from someone who knows the drill; and very well, I might add.
Now, was Colbert’s tweet and segment offensive? Of course it is, snarky satire usually is. But, is that any reason to be going around trying to get Colbert’s show cancelled? No. It is not. If anything, Colbert’s show ought to be cancelled, because his show is quite unfunny. His show, basically, is a send up of Bill O’Reilly’s show; and believe me that little parody got stale eons ago.
As for the protected minorities; they need to seriously look at getting over themselves. Minorities need to stop with the radical Islam approach to freedom of speech. The whole idea that if you insult them, you will be attacked, marginalized and even threatened; is a page right out of the Al-Qaeda playbook. It is called intolerance and it is the antithesis is what America is truly about; and that is freedom of speech.

Within hours of the disclosure that the federal authorities routinely collect data on phone calls Americans make, regardless of whether they have any bearing on a counterterrorism investigation, the Obama administration issued the same platitude it has offered every time President Obama has been caught overreaching in the use of his powers: Terrorists are a real menace and you should just trust us to deal with them because we have internal mechanisms (that we are not going to tell you about) to make sure we do not violate your rights.
Those reassurances have never been persuasive — whether on secret warrants to scoop up a news agency’s phone records or secret orders to kill an American suspected of terrorism — especially coming from a president who once promised transparency and accountability.
The administration has now lost all credibility on this issue. Mr. Obama is proving the truism that the executive will use any power it is given and very likely abuse it. That is one reason we have long argued that the Patriot Act, enacted in the heat of fear after the 9/11 attacks by members of Congress who mostly had not even read it, was reckless in its assignment of unnecessary and overbroad surveillance powers.

The US continues spying on phones under Obama
There are a ton of opinions on this subject and we’ll get to those in a moment.
But first the story:
The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America’s largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April.
The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an “ongoing, daily basis” to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries.
The document shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of US citizens are being collected indiscriminately and in bulk – regardless of whether they are suspected of any wrongdoing.
The secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (Fisa) granted the order to the FBI on April 25, giving the government unlimited authority to obtain the data for a specified three-month period ending on July 19.
Under the terms of the blanket order, the numbers of both parties on a call are handed over, as is location data, call duration, unique identifiers, and the time and duration of all calls. The contents of the conversation itself are not covered.

But, there is a big difference this time:
Under the Bush administration, officials in security agencies had disclosed to reporters the large-scale collection of call records data by the NSA, but this is the first time significant and top-secret documents have revealed the continuation of the practice on a massive scale under President Obama.
The unlimited nature of the records being handed over to the NSA is extremely unusual. Fisa court orders typically direct the production of records pertaining to a specific named target who is suspected of being an agent of a terrorist group or foreign state, or a finite set of individually named targets.
Which sounds about right for the Democrats, because they are perfectly fine with Government of a massive scale.
Now there are two very important opinions on this subject that I want you to see. They are same political slant; however, the opinions are very different. Please go check out Michelle Malkin’s take and Ed Morrissey’s take on this subject. While I agree on Michelle Malkin’s assessment, I really do not agree with her narrative at all. If you are smart and read her a good deal, you will know what I am talking about.
Now there is one thing that Ed Morrissey wrote that I, as an Independent, and someone who believes that the war on terror is a very real thing and that we should at least try to keep America safe, without trampling on our constitutional rights. I believe this to be very true and very profound statement coming from someone like Mr. Morrissey:
Hypocrisy is an unfortunately ubiquitous condition in politics, but in the case of NSA seizing Verizon’s phone records, it’s particularly widespread. Some of the people expressing outrage for the Obama administration’s efforts at data mining had a different attitude toward it when Bush was in office. Conversely, we’ll see some people defending Obama who considered Bush evil incarnate for the same thing.
Either way, we’re left with the situation of having the federal government seizing private records without any meaningful civil due process that engages the citizens affected, whether that includes actual wiretaps or just cataloguing our calls and movements. Perhaps this will move this issue out of the partisan sphere and into a common ground in which we can all work to define exactly how far we’re willing to go in trading privacy for security. In order to get there, we’d all better recognize the hypocrisy that has abounded on this issue for far too long, and start thinking about higher principles than party affiliation when it comes to national security and constitutional protections.
Now that last part that I underlined, is something I wholeheartedly agree with. When the story broke about Bush and Co. came about the wiretaps, I remember Keith Olbermann doing a special comment on it and I admired him for standing up. Now, where’s Keith? Where are the liberals who thought that this was much too intrusive? Where are they now? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
My hat tip goes to Glenn Greenwald for putting principles over partisanship and getting this story to the masses. Glenn has been about the only liberal who has stood up and pointed out that Obama Administration has continued the policies of the George W. Bush Administration and in some cases; like this one here — has expanded them to an alarming degree. Yes, this is overreach and it is alarming and I do hope the Congress does something about it.

UPDATED – It’s official: The Obama Administration is in deep trouble and I am done defending them
My friends, I was very, very wrong and for that, I am terribly sorry. 🙁
I said that I believed that the entire Benghazi, Libya debacle was over-hyped by the Republicans; and I still believe that, to a point.
However, there are many things that have come up since then, which I simply cannot defend.
They are:
- The IRS targeting Jewish groups. – I mean, honestly, what the hell were the IRS and Obama’s people thinking when they let this one happen?
- IRS targeting Conservative groups in Washington and Elsewhere. — Did they not know that this would be exposed?
- DOJ going after the AP – This is borderline Watergate, so says a watergate player. — Again, what the hell were these people thinking?
My friends, the “Giving the benefit of the doubt” of the President and his Administration by this writer and blogger are over. There is no doubt in my mind that the Obama administration; much like the Administration of George W. Bush, became consumed with a lust for power and abused and exploited the office of President of the United States and the instruments of Governmental office for political purposes.

The Democrats have screwed themselves out of ever winning an election; for like oh, maybe the next 2 major election cycles. This is the sad part, Obama and his Administration promised Americans that he would be a clean break from the policies and practices of President George W. Bush and his Administration and sadly, it turns out that Obama and his Administration are just as bad; if not even worse. As I wrote before, it is sad ending to a Presidency that offered so much to give; but ended up delivering little or nothing at all, in the realm of change.
It is going to be a long, hot, nasty, political summer for America, Americans, Black Liberal Americans and for Washington D.C.. I just hope that cool heads prevail. But, I really do fear the worst in yet to come.

It Begins: Evangelical Christians and the Catholic Church listed in Army training slide as extremists
This is something to put everyone on alert:
A U.S. Army training instructor listed Evangelical Christianity and Catholicism as examples of religious extremism along with Al Qaeda and Hamas during a briefing with an Army Reserve unit based in Pennsylvania, Fox News has learned.
“We find this offensive to have Evangelical Christians and the Catholic Church to be listed among known terrorist groups,” said Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty. “It is dishonorable for any U.S. military entity to allow this type of wrongheaded characterization.”

The incident occurred during an Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief on extremism. Topping the list is Evangelical Christianity. Other organizations listed included Catholicism, Al Qaeda, Hamas, the Ku Klux Klan, Sunni Muslims, and Nation of Islam.
The military also listed “Islamophobia” as a form of religious extremism.

Of course, when caught, the Army quickly raced to cover its butt:
Army spokesman George Wright told Fox News that this was an “isolated incident not condoned by the Dept. of the Army.”
“This slide was not produced by the Army and certainly does not reflect our policy or doctrine,” he said. “It was produced by an individual without anyone in the chain of command’s knowledge or permission.”
Wright said after the complaint was lodged, the presenter deleted the slide, and apologized.
“We consider the matter closed,” he said.
The incident was made public by a soldier who attended the briefing. He asked for copies of the presentation and sent them to the Chaplain Alliance.
“He considers himself an evangelical Christian and did not appreciate being classified with terrorists,” Crews told Fox News. “There was a pervasive attitude in the presentation that anything associated with religion is an extremist.”
Which is the story they always tell the public, when they do something and get caught doing it. I just wonder how long it will be, if the Lord tarries; before the United States Government will begin rounding up those who dare to read from the King James Version of the Bible and start imprisoning those Pastors who dare to preach that homosexuality is a sin and that abortion is murder. I think it will happen, before the Lord’s return myself. Why with the Anti-Defamation League — a leftist Jew-run organization; doing the bidding of the Obama Administration, it is a wonder now that Fundamentalists like myself are not in prison.
It goes without saying that we are in the last days. Things like this, are going to become more and more prevalent and will the norm eventually. As Jesus said, “Watch ye and Pray.” and that my friends, is all that we can really do. Watch and pray and be about our Father’s business; and wait for his blessed return.

Republican U.S. Congressional candidate Brad Staats continues to defend a controversial Facebook post.Brad Staats posted a picture of a handgun along with the statement, “Many people keep asking me about my opinion on Second Amendment rights. Apparently Tennesseans are part of that crazy crowd that Obama says cling to their religion and guns. Well then I must be part of that crazy crowd. Here is something that I usually have with me. Welcome to Tennessee Mr. Obama where we appreciate our [Second] Amendment rights and the constitution that was wisely given to us by our founding fathers.”
At a Lipscomb University event on Monday night, Staats told Nashville’s News 2, “I’m going to say what I mean and mean what I say and I want Tennesseans and Americans to know that I’m not going to back up on what I say.”
Staats said the Facebook post was never meant to be an attack on the president but it is in reference to the recently passed U.N. Small Arms Treaty.
“I do want President Obama to know as well as the rest of Congress and everyone else regarding our constitutional, rights don’t tread on America’s constitution,” said Staats. “I think that your liberties, your life can be defended by the proper instructed use of a handgun.”
Staats said his strong stance on handguns stems from his mother’s own personal experience.
He said, “She would have either been raped or murdered had she not had a handgun in her car she actually got ran off a road and it was obvious she was getting ready to be assailed.”
It is a fair defense and I would have done the same damned thing. There was no threat implied at all; this is a tactic of the liberal left and yes, the Neoconservative right (AKA FAKE!) does the same damned thing too. They call threat, anytime someone posts a pic of a gun or other related matter and the name Obama. It is a disgrace and when this stuff happens the first amendment is being trampled upon. How many times did people have signs saying “Kill Bush?” Plenty.
So, this whole thing is a bad joke and the liberal left knows it. They say “But, oh! He’s black!” I got one thing to say about all that: Big ‘effin’ deal. The truth is, the President has more security around him, than Bush ever did, so the chances of him being shot and killed is slim to none. Unless someone seriously screws up at the secret service, which will never happen.

Anti-Jihad Bloggers fighting the fight of freedom in NYC
I really do not write about the struggle against radical Muslims and Jihad on this blog; mainly because it is not the focus of this blog. Oh, I will cover something that is big in the headlines about the subject, but I do not solely blog about that subject.
Anyhow, it seems that one of biggest Anti-Jihad warriors in NYC is causing a stir with the Anti-Jihad ads that she has put up in NYC subways is resulting in the haters coming out of woodwork and getting arrested. I do not write about Pamela Geller often, because I really do not know how she quite honestly feels about me; and by that I mean, I do not know if she is buying all the stupidity being written about me or not.
However, I will say this here: I do admire her courage to do what she is doing. I mean, it is one thing to sit and write on a blog; and rip liberals a new one every day. But, it is a whole other world, to literally do the things that she is going. She is in the big fight — the big show, if you want to call it that; when it comes to stuff like this and I admire her for it.
Also too, for those who might think that Geller is simply doing this for a quick buck or something silly like that; allow me to say this: Pamela Geller without question is one of more outspoken voices of the Anti-Jihad movement, there is no doubt about that at all. This is why I have her in my blogroll. However, there is a reason why she is doing what it is that she is doing. She is fighting the fight against radical Islam and Jihad for people like me, who sit here and write against the actions of our Government, whether it be Republican or Democratic Party controlled.
Because if the truth was known folks; if those beltway cretins, from both parties, had their way, the first amendment would be modified to get rid of the non-corporate sites, and yes, that includes bloggers like me. Furthermore, if the liberal left had anything to say about it; Conservatives would have no right to free speech at all. No religions would be criticized at all. Free speech would be chilled to the bone. Heck, Liberal Democrats, like FDR had a “fairness doctrine” in place in broadcast media for years! Why? Because they did not like dissent at all. Thankfully, in the 1980’s; President Ronald Reagan removed that law and now broadcast media is free to express itself and Democrats are open to full dissent in the media. Fox News channel being a great example of that.
In closing: To Pamela Geller, I simply say this: I admire you kid. 
Keep fighting the good fight. It is people like Geller that inspire me to continue doing what I do; despite the fact that there these half-dead vultures who continue to circle this blog and just wait for me to do something that they feel is wrong. Just so they can go and write something about me on some stupid blog somewhere. I have said this a million times on this blog and on my old one. This blog has never, ever been about me at all. I do not do this for any sort fame or to be recognized at all. I simply write the truth as I know it to be and tell the truth about the neo-liberal left and how they have destroyed the once honorable Democratic Party and how now they are trying to destroy America and its very foundations. If in the process of me doing this, a few persons who traffic in identity politics on the left or the right get their feathers ruffled —- tough crap! I have never been one to have any sort of patience for political correctness. This is why I write in the style that I do. This is also why there are people out there who simply do not like me at all. Which comes with territory, and I am perfectly fine with that. I have my political positions and I realize that not everyone is going to agree with me.
So, to Pamela Geller, go get ’em gal and don’t let the bastards on the left or the right get you down.
