I agree, sort of

Bill, I agree. Kind of.

I don’t much get into the “Christian America” thing. Because it, to me; is a Christian version of shariah law.

I also agree that the “Christian Right’s” revision of history to suit a narrative is off-putting.

America is a Constitutional Republic. It’s founders acknowledged God. They were not Bible-thumpers, like we have today. In fact, most Christians during that period, avoided politics, like the plague. Which they should do now.

As for whom you are debating with; he’s nothing more than pompous jerk.  It seems that He and Ace over at the Spades HQ seem to have this real Anti-Christian, Anti-Heartland Conservative bias about them. Never did like it; so, I tend to avoid them.

Just my opinion.

The long knives come out

Against Social Conservatives and Conservative Grassroots types, like me.

Check it out Here, Here, and here.

Also too, check out what this Colorado Jew has to say about we Conservative Christians. Let me ask you for a second; what if someone like me, decided to say that the problem with the Republican Party was controlled and financed by the Jews and that they needed to leave and started their own party? I would be derided by the Blogosphere as a anti-Semite, a bigot and a few other names that I will not print here. Funny how they can deride us and nothing ever happens; but when the tables are turned they collectively lose their minds ——- just ask Rick Sanchez. Before anyone screams, I am not being a hatemonger here, I, as a Conservative Christian, am just making a observation. One that does tick me off a bit, but I digress.

The response I have to all the idiotic nonsense at the links is this; try winning elections without us. As I have said on this blog a million times, and I will most like say it a million more, before it is over — there are three legs to the stool of Conservatism: Fiscal, Social and Foreign Policy. If any of those legs are removed, the stool collapses. You cannot have a Conservative Movement and for that matter, a Republican party without social Conservatism. This is because freedoms do not come from man, freedoms come by God; and a Party that fails to acknowledge that there is a God in Heaven and fails to champion the causes that are found in the Holy Bible is doomed to failure.

So, this whole idea, that grassroots Conservatives are somehow the reason the Republicans lost the 2012 election is a bunch of horse manure! We lost the election, because the Republican Party put in the most Elitist, moderate guy that they could find and tried running him as a true Conservative. Plus too, the man was a Mormon, and the Evangelical base of the Republican Party just does not trust Mormons, and for good reason; they are not Christians at all. I voted for Romney, because I wanted to see the Country prosper, not because I agreed with his Religion. Now, people are saying the solution is purge the party of the Christians. Nice, real nice. But, again, try winning elections without us. Because we make up a good part of your base.

I think the Republican Party establishment needs to reconsider this a whole bunch, before you start trying to throw out the people that make up your base.

Pat Buchanan makes a good point

Continuing with my previous thought; I came across Pat Buchanan’s post election column, in it he makes some very good points on the GOP’s failures.

Quoting Mr. Buchanan:

At the presidential level, the Republican Party is at death’s door.

Yet one already sees the same physicians writing prescriptions for the same drugs that have been killing the GOP since W’s dad got the smallest share of the vote by a Republican candidate since William Howard Taft in 1912.

In ascertaining the cause of the GOP’s critical condition, let us use Occam’s razor—the principle that the simplest explanation is often the right one.

Would the GOP wipeout in those heavily Catholic, ethnic, socially conservative, blue-collar bastions of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois, which Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan swept, have anything to do with the fact that the United States since 2000 has lost 6 million manufacturing jobs and 55,000 factories?

Where did all those jobs and factories go? We know where.

They were outsourced. And in the deindustrialization of America, the Republican Party has been a culpable co-conspirator.

Unlike family patriarch Sen. Prescott Bush, who voted with Barry Goldwater and Strom Thurmond against JFK’s free-trade deal, Bush I and II pumped for NAFTA, GATT, the WTO and opening America’s borders to all goods made by our new friends in the People’s Republic of China.

Swiftly, U.S. multinationals shut factories here, laid off workers, outsourced production to Asia and China, and brought their finished goods back, tax-free, to sell in the U.S.A.

Profits soared, as did the salaries of the outsourcing executives.

And their former workers? They headed for the service sector, along with their wives, to keep up on the mortgage payment, keep the kids in Catholic school and pay for the health insurance the family had lost.

Tuesday, these ex-Reagan Democrats came out to vote against some guy from Bain Capital they had been told in ads all summer was a big-time outsourcer who wrote in 2008, “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt!”

Yes, the simplest explanation is often the right one.

Pat makes a very good point, however, I think it would be a disaster to start pandering to any sort of class of American at all; as I said earlier on this blog:

Furthermore, I believe the GOP needs to stop pandering to minorities. The majority of blacks and Latinos; and every other damned minority in this Country are going to vote Democratic. The reason is the Democratic Party is going to promise them stuff, it is the way it has always been and always will be. Also, I believe that the Republican Party needs to stop trying to pander the the middle class. The truth is the middle class in this Country are overwhelmingly Democratic voters. If the middle class are that stupid to continue to vote for a Party that continually wants to kick them in the teeth, then fine, screw them. We do not want their vote. A decision to go against the socialist mentality of the Democratic Party is a personal one and involves an educated voter, not a clueless one. We do not need the clueless voter, sorry. Let them vote for the other party.

Just as well, the Republican Party needs to stop apologizing. Stop apologizing for being white, stop apologizing for being the party of the financially successful. The liberals in this Country, over the years, have made the term “Rich” a dirty word. What with comics like “Richie Rich” and shows like “Archie Bunker”, the white business person has been made a mockery of and the stupid GOP has allowed it to happen and not fought back! The Republican Party needs to start saying, Yes, we are the party of the successful people! We are the party of people who built businesses from nothing and made them into something successful. There is no shame in that at all. Everyone wants to be financially successful, why try to hide it? There are two types of people, those who are content to be a wage slave, and those who actually want to be a free American. I chose to be the latter and I do not apologize for it.

I still stand behind that comment above; however, let me add the following thought: I think that one can try to appeal to a populist base like that, but one has to make sure it is appealing and not pandering. It is a delicate balance and if it is done properly, it can work great. If it is done wrongly, it can be devastating to the Party. I really believe that the message should truly be, “We will fight for you, and keep Government off your back, and keep your taxes low.” But I do not believe that the GOP ought to start giving lip-service to anyone like that, the Democrats have done that for years and it works for them. The problem is, that the 90% of the time the lip-service is empty. We do not need to start doing that to broaden our base at all. If we do, it could very well come back to haunt the party.

Again, Pat Buchanan does tell the truth, but I think he misses the broader point; the GOP became too much of a moderate, pandering Party for many years and now it is catching up with them. The Bush era did not help either. What I mean is that Iraq will be a black mark on the GOP for many years to come. Some people have long memories, and they have not entirely forgotten about what happened after 9/11 and how Bush and Co. used that to start a war, that we all know now, had zero to do with 9/11. The Democrats did a very good job of reminding people of that; and the GOP had no message to counter that, at least none that made any sense. The best they could do, is say, “Blame Bush.” Well, yes, some people do blame Bush! You have to be able to answer that accusation or reminder better than just deriding the other side for bringing up the GOP’s Wilsonian past foreign policy ventures. Also too, I believe that George W. Bush’s “Big Government Conservatism” policies are still fresh on the minds of some populist, grassroots Conservatives; like “No child left behind” and other such stuff as well.

I think another problem with the GOP and the Conservative movement as a whole is that some Conservatives and Republicans have a penchant for simply making things up, that they know not to be true. This is common in politics and both sides do it, to a certain degree. It is called “scaremongering” and to me, as a Christian man; (Who is not without faults!)   it just strikes me as morally wrong. If the Republican Party and the Conservative movement is a truly a socially Conservative movement, that they claim to be. Then they should really get the whole “telling the truth” thing down pat and stop with the scaremongering nonsense. Fact checking is not a sin, and it should be a top priority. Because we can get much further with the American people, with the simply, clear-eyed truth; than we can with scaremongering and stupidity. Most people, these days, with the internet; can fact check quicker than most politicos can! Although, there is that segment that believes the chain letters can go out via e-mail, than they do when someone tells them the plain truth. The Conservative Movement needs to be less chain letter, and more factual arguments. Boogieman headlines might bring profits to those who promote them; but it does not win elections.

Another thing that is on my mind, that goes along with the above paragraph; is that we simply need to remove the Alex Jones element to the Conservative movement. Alex Jones is a nothing more than a damned charlatan. Jones caters to particular group of people, commonly known as the “tin-foil” hat crowd. For years, nobody ever, in the political world, ever took that guy seriously. This was, until Obama got into the White House and then from that moment on, it was full on Alex Jones in the Conservative movement! I really began to notice this, when Matt Drudge began linking to Alex Jones and added him to his list of sites on his website. This, I feel, was an tragic error. The Conservative movement should be known for its disdain for big Government and its refuting of the idea that socialism is not the ideal path forward; and not for its promoting of idiotic conspiracy theories.

Another thing that I believe needs to happen, is that the Republican Party establishment needs to either become more grassroots in nature and cease to exist as a political party. The old school way of doing thing needs to stop. This idea that the big money people controlling the party, has to stop. Because, as the GOP has found out, the populist Conservative grassroots, which makes up everyone else in the movement, that is not establishment; is not real pleased with the GOP at the moment. This divide within the ranks needs to stop; the GOP needs to stop with the mentality of “You guys need to become like us!” and the grassroots needs to quit with the “The GOP needs to be more like us!” This gets nothing accomplished at all. My advice is to find the things that unite you both and work together on them. This would create a unified front and much could get done to fight back against the socialist movement and against the Democrats.

Again, these are just some thoughts of mine, that I started writing at about 4:30am and it is now 5:21am. I hope that you will consider them.

The Day After: Now that I have had a little time to think

Just got in from being outside, freezing what little derriere that I have off. Leaves here at the Adkins Manor needed tending to. So, me and my Dad and my second Cousin, Benjamin took to it and used the lawn mower, a leaf blower and sucker,(*snicker*) and a whole bunch of back muscle to make the back and front yards look reasonable decent. Ben cleaned the gutters out, and made sure everything up there on the house was working properly. We are all tired, but pleased with our work.

I come in the house and check the blogs, and I noticed that Chris Smith, one of the nicer bloggers around, is going into semi-retirement:

What I do is what Christians do: pray. Pray for wisdom, peace, guidance. Also, rest. I slept poorly on 05 November, and haven’t done well since dragging home. I’ll be going into semi-retirement from blogging, cutting way back on the amount of time I spend on all of these social network endeavors, and finding therapy in fiction. At least until I get hauled off to Room 101.

Believe me, I know how he feels, last night, I was feeling like just shutting all the sites that I own down. But, you know? This is precisely what the left wants. They want us to quit, they want us to toss in the towel and just accept what the liberal controlled Government wish to foist upon us. I have read about the “Doom and Gloom” too and folks, listen. It might not be as bad as some are predicting.

Well for one, we kept the house and those guys in the house are not going to back down. I tend to believe that John Boehner is going to get tough. I tend to suspect that there are going to be house hearings on the Libya situation, as well as on Gunwalker thing too. The House might and believe me, when I say might, I mean MIGHT — actually have enough on Obama to pursue articles of impeachment against the President.  It all depends if the House has the stomach to do such a thing. I really doubt that it will happen very quickly.

Either way, I think slinking off and quitting, is a mistake. I am not changing my stance on anything. The Democrats are wrong, have been wrong and will ALWAYS be wrong. They just were able to keep their Presidency. Whether by malfeasance or legitimate means is irrelevant at this point.  What matters is this; we have to regroup, get our message together and move on. Plus, we will have to continue with our voices of dissent against the left. We still have the right, they have not taken that yet.

Now, there is something else, I have to agree with as well; and it is this from the Tea Party News Network:

WASHINGTON D.C. – Leaders of the Tea Party News Network (TPNN) and TheTeaParty.net offered an unflinching assessment of Election Day results. Todd Cefaratti, editor of the Tea Party News Network said, “We’re disappointed in Governor Romney’s loss. But this goes to the heart of what we have been saying all along. Bob Dole didn’t win. John McCain didn’t win. And now Mitt Romney hasn’t won. The lesson the GOP and Americans need to learn is that weak-kneed Republicans do not get elected. Conservatives do.”

“The Tea Party has not yet begun to fight. It’s time for a wholesale reassessment of the D.C. establishment politicians and party grandees who have no commitment or courage to reduce the size of government. We now have another four years ahead of us with Barack Obama leading the charge against liberty,” TPNN News Director Scottie Hughes said. “There were some bright spots tonight from Ted Cruz to Jeff Flake, to a decisive win in the U.S. House where Tea Partiers have a mandate to stand against Obama’s big government second-term agenda. ”

“I eagerly await the day the GOP establishment figures out that the ‘safe’ candidates are not getting the job done,” stated Hughes. “The GOP needs to adhere to stricter ideological purity and put forth candidates that represent a significant difference in viewpoint from the Democrats that are creating devastating policies for Americans. The Republican Party has been shoving ‘their’ candidate down the throats of conservatives for years, and it’s not working. It’s time for them to wake up.”

Cefaratti said, “We are disappointed tonight, but tomorrow morning the work begins. We will search every corner of this country for strong conservatives, not wishy-washy moderates. There’s a change coming to our national politics, and TheTeaParty.net and the Tea Party News Network will be on the frontlines waging this battle.”

Outside of the obvious self-promotion in the release; I have to agree with what is said here. We have to stick to core principles and pick someone who everyone will vote for. Mitt Romney was, in fact, a Mormon and there is a deep-seated mistrust of Mormons among evangelicals and fundamentalist Christians. It has been that way for years. Also too; the Republican Party needs to run someone who will embrace the three legs of the Conservative stool; Fiscal, Social and Defense. The fiscal is easy, however the other two require skill. You want a social conservative, who is not going to come off sounding like a Theocrat. You also want a defense conservative who is not going to be a warmonger, but that the same time not be a Ron Paul type of isolationist.

All of these things have to be thought about, when the next election comes around. Again, my friends, it is not the time to give up. Now, is the time, as I wrote before; to plan.

The Obligatory Dominican Republic Hookers rat out Democratic Party senator posting

Ho hum, another sex scandal; big deal.

Via Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller:

Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez paid them for sex earlier this year.

In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100.

The women spoke through a translator in the company of their attorney, Melanio Figueroa. Both asked that their identities remain obscured for fear of reprisals in the Dominican Republic.

Of course, the Senator’s office says:

Asked about the allegations, Menendez spokeswoman Tricia Enright refused to answer any questions on the subject. “We’re not going to respond to a completely false accusation,” she wrote by email.

So, the question is, who is telling the truth? Hard to say; the Ladies faces were obscured, so the guy cannot ID them. So, it is a situation of Tucker’s word against the Senator’s. Truthfully, this is a bad path to take for Tucker, it can get him sued and it tends to hurt his credibility.

I just think that there is a better way to fight this battle; instead of gotcha politics, we should just stand on principles. It is too bad that no one listens. 🙁

This is why I dislike Bill Kristol very much

(Via Time — H/T to Politico)

The Story via JTA’s Capital J Blog:

(UPDATED with ECI comment and J Street cartoon, below)

My synagogue listserve in northern Virginia is abuzz with a Robocall campaign, by the Emergency Committee for Israel.

The caller ID is that of William Kristol, who founded the group.

Robocalls are not known for straight-up accounts of the issues. Still, the deceptions in this one are a little stunning.

The call is in the form of a "debate" between President Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu.

There has never been any such debate, of course, and it’s immediately clear to me that it’s a mock-up, with "answers" spliced in from different appearances. But I’m steeped in this. I don’t know how clear it would be though to someone who doesn’t follow this day to day.

More substantively, the quote grabs have almost nothing to do with one another, although this is not evident in the calls. A more accurate presentation of the Netanyahu quote that is used would suggest that the two leaders are actually more in agreement on nuclear Iran — the issue of the "debate" — than not.

Obama’s "opening remark", in which he "respects" Iran’s sovereignty, is from a press conference in 2009, in which he rejected Iranian claims of U.S. involvement in post-election protests — and also decried Iranian repression of the protesters. It had nothing to do with Iran’s nuclear capability.

Netanyahu’s "response" is from his speech to AIPAC this year (three years later!)

What is Kristol’s response to this?:

*UPDATE: Kristol emails:

ECI exists to provide opportunities for faux liberal outrage.

I will just say it; Bill Kristol is a NEO-CON piece of shit, he always has been and always will be! Between Him and John Podhoretz; if the Republican Party loses this election, it will be because of Kristol and  Podhoretz. We have a good chance to stop this socialist from destroying this Country and what does this schmuck do? This sort of idiotic crap.

Also too, yes, I know JStreet is a liberal Jewish organization; I get that, alright? But, this sort of stuff, a week before the election is just damned uncalled for. Maybe, just maybe Kristol is doing this to sabotage Romney’s prospects, seeing that Kristol and his ilk are making a killing being Obama’s kneecapper, maybe he is protecting his interests.

I’m just saying.

DUMB: Black man thinks he knows more than white man, and ends up underwater

(H/T InstaPundit)

Now this is too funny. Hee heeLoser

Hurricane Sandy is coming ashore, Governor Christie says, “get the heck outta dodge!” and what does the Mayor of Atlantic City do?

This: (Via JWF)

The Story:

Gov. Chris Christie this evening issued an angry rebuke to Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford for allowing people to shelter at schools in that community rather than evacuate. Christie said one school is now flooded.

“For those elected officials who decided to ignore my admonition, this is now your responsibility,” Christie said at a news conference at the State Police Regional Operations Intelligence Center, the location of the emergency operations command center.

The governor said he cannot quantify how many people decided to shelter at the schools within the city, but he said no rescues will occur from this evening until the morning. He said a 21-member strike team is in place with boats to assist come dawn.

Christie said he also does not know if people are still stuck in one school near the bay that has flooded.

“We’re at a moment now where evacuation is no longer possible and we’re no longer able to come and rescue people,” Christie said.

At a news conference Saturday, Langford and his administration acknowledged their poor exit strategy during Tropical Storm Irene last year would likely cause many of the city’s nearly 40,000 residents to stay put during Sandy to protect their homes and stores.

“Last year we had many residents on school buses, especially elderly residents, for hours at a time,” said Tom Foley, the city’s director of emergency management. “It was totally unacceptable. We think we have a better plan this time.

Oh yeah? How’d that all pan out?

“We’re trying to deal with a hurricane, we’re not worried about that b.s.,” city Office of Emergency Management Director Tom Foley said via cell phone. “We’re trying to move people right now.” — real quote

Jammie Wearing Fools says:

Unimaginable incompetence at work here. Now they’re trying to move people as the storm makes landfall?

Yeah, kind of like Katrina. Republican says, “Everyone get outta the city!” Black Democrat says, “I think we’ll do it our way, and not listen to the honky.” and now that black Democrat is underwater, he’s like “don’t bug me!”

This is what happens when racial bigotry and affirmative action trumps actual executive experience and leadership ability. I will be willing to bet you streak dinner, that some Democrat, somewhere will find an excuse to blame Chris Christie for this one. You watch and see.  This is what happened during Katrina and it is happening again; remember Ray Nagin? Here we go again!

Just saying y’all, just sayin’….

Just to give you an idea of what is going, this below is at  20th St and Ave C in Manhattan. (Via AllahPundit)

Good move: Romney and Obama scrub campaign events ahead of hurricane sandy

This was a smart move on both campaign accounts and I will tell you why.

But first the story via ABC News’s Blog, The Note:

AVON LAKE, OHIO – Mitt Romney’s campaign has canceled fifteen events over the course of several days as national attention turns toward Hurricane Sandy. Romney told a crowd in this critical swing state that the storm is a time for Americans to come together.

“We’ve faced these kinds of challenges before and as we have it’s interesting to see how American’s come together and this, this looks like another time when we need to come together all across the country, even here in Ohio, and make sure that we give our support to the people who need it,” Romney said to a crowd of thousands gathered in a school gym to hear him speak.

President Obama has also cancelled campaign stops. He returned to Washington D.C. Monday. Instead of attending a rally in Florida with former President Bill Clinton, Obama briefly spoke from the White House and told Americans to listen to local authorities during the storm. In total, Hurricane Sandy has forced the cancellation of 27 campaign events between the two campaigns.

The reason I believe that this was incredibly smart, on the part of both campaigns is this right here: If you are in the area where this hurricane is about to strike; the last thing you want to hear is two guys arguing over who should be President. Plus, it would be perceived as downright slimy of any campaign; Republican or Democrat — to try and cash in politically on a natural disaster.

Romney and Obama both are doing the right thing by telling everyone to come together and ride the storm out. It is a good political move.

Oh, and another thing; Hey, Gingrich, Shut the hell up, you opportunistic jackass! This stupid bullshit right here, is why you are not, nor will you EVER be a candidate for President of the United States!  If you remember, I did, at first, support this jackass for President; until he pulled a boneheaded move of playing the Jew-Card against Romney — not to mention the fact that his so-called documentary that was a hit piece on Romney was riddled with errors.

Way I see it; if Gingrich cannot do any better than that; he ought to just stay out of the goddamned election. Sorry, I just absolutely loathe those who use Hurricanes and other such of misfortune of others to score political points. Angry
