Gun Blogger needs assistance

(H/T to Bill Quick)

Better and Better Writes:

So here’s the thing: Tamara has got a touch of basal cell carcinoma in her nose. And as much as that sucks, it sucks way worse when you don’t have health insurance. Which she does not.

I don’t know what the Moh’s procedure costs to remove a chunk of your body and stitch it back up into a recognizable feature again, but it seems like you can’t ask for a tissue at a hospital without it taking a severe hit on your yearly budget. Genuine surgery is dammit expensive to be paying out of pocket.

Here’s the bleg: Tamara has a tip jar on her blog. It’s easy to use. I’ve used it before. If you click on it, you can donate directly to Tamara, with no middle man. Think of it this way: if she were in town, wouldn’t you take her out for dinner and perhaps a beverage? What’s dinner run, these days, at a place where you don’t bus your own tables? $25? $30

Well, you know what to do; head on over and give the lady some donation loving. Cause there isn’t anything worse than being butthole deep in medical bills and no insurance to cover them.

For the record, I do not know this young lady at all. But, she’s a gun lover, and a supporter of the second amendment; that is good enough for me. Not to mention she looks awful darned hot with that assault rifle in her hand. Love Struck Wonder if she has a boyfriend? ConfusedThinking

*shakes head* SurpriseDrooling

Sorry, got distracted. Head on over to her blog and drop a couple bucks in the jar to help the pretty lady out.

The Saturday Night Music Express Presents: Darrell Mansfield and Resurrection Band

Lyrics:

You’ve been walking in that rain again, looking for a friend

Wind blows in your backyard, and it feels like it’s the end.

(Chorus)

After the Storm (Repeat X2)

I feel the hurt, you know, I feel the pain, when love has passed you by.

Well, He can take rearrange those things, that make you hide inside.

(Chorus)

(Guitar Solo 1)

You’ve been trying to change your life, for such a long, long time.

But change won’t come, until you trust God’s son, and leave the past behind. whoa-oh…

(Chorus)

You Gonna find…yeah…

What Jesus’s love is all about

what his love is all about…yeah!

(Guitar solo 2)

Yeah…….

Gonna find out, gonna find out…

You’re gonna find out about Jesus.. Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah….

(Song fade)

Bonus Song!

This is Resurrection Band with “Suprised”:

Lyrics:

I done my time
I took my ride
Strutted my stuff, did it my way
Hid myself from the light of day
Pushed, shoved, tripped an’ fell
But dead men got no tales to tell
Everything I’ve come to know
Points me to my need for you
I’ve known the pain
I felt the shame
Voices talkin’ soft an’ loud
Too far down to be so proud
Some said somethin’ ’bout ears to hear
Faith in truth becomin’ clear
I been surprised
Opened my eyes
Sky came down in tears of rain
Sun came up a whole new way
God knows what an’ when an’ why
Think I wasn’t born to die
Everything I’ve come to know
Points me to the fact of You
I don’t know all that I need
But I think I finally see
Been so surprised
Here I’m alive
So, so surprised
I am alive

A special Thank You to DaTechGuy

For standing up against the McCarthyism style blogger blacklist against me.

DaTecgGuy linked to this entry here on Google’s executing searches on blogs.

I will quote this part here:

BTW a few people might find themselves surprised that I linked Pat Adkins here. Everyone knows I’m a friend of Zilla, Stacy and others who have had run-ins with him. Why this post and the link?

First: I found this story interesting and his quote was a part of it

Second: Since he was the source of the story for me simple blog protocol demands a link

Third: When he became aware of the Zilla video he put up a public retraction and has included a permanent link complete with graphic on the front page. I’m Catholic I like contrition and it deserves recognition and if you’re not Christian then consider these words of Glenn Reynolds:When you reward behavior, you tend to get more of it.

Let me simply say this: the very fact that anyone said anything to DaTechGuy to try and pressure him into pulling the posting linking to me; proves what I have believed about the so-called “Right Wing” Blogosphere — they are, much like the liberal left, tolerant — as long as you fit into what they consider to be acceptable. If you veer away from that, they will blacklist you and do everything in their power to destroy you. Just like they have done me. The sick part is, they learned it from the left. (Update: DaTechGuy says No one said a word, but I have no way of verifying that.)

…and all because I once was a Democratic Party voter. 6 1/2 — 7 years is a long time to hold a grudge; but they still do. I guess that is to be expected of the NeoCon right. Way I see it, they are just following in the steps of their masters. Also too, it was not a run-in with McCain, he did something and I didn’t like it one bit and I said so. I guess that was unacceptable to the McCarthy crowd.

A video:

Believe me, I know how these people felt, I really do.

Also too:

Update That’s ADKINS not ATKINS and yes the site was down a few hours full details not yet available.

Yes, my ethnic line can be traced to Dalton, Georgia and Middlesboro, Kentucky — and back to England. Big Grin Redneck by association I am. Cowboy Yee haw!

Wow: What the heck happened to this Charles Foster Johnson?

I was searching through archives at a blog and landed at LGF.

I spotted this from Oct 31, 2007 at 8:42 am PDT over there:

The whole thing is nothing but a sleazy leftist smear.

Wow, 5 years and 2 days ago. Disappointed

How things change in the political world.  Sigh

I’ve changed too; left the idiocy of the left and at least tried to make a place for myself on the right.

Remember when Johnson had “stalker blogs?” and people who just didn’t like Charles, on the left? I do.

5 years, does not seem that long ago; but in politics and the blogging world, it is an eternity.

Which brings me to my last late-night thought. What is going to change, if Romney wins? I am talking about the blogging world. Who will move? Will there be defections? What will become of the Democratic Party, if Obama loses? What will become of the Republican Party, if Romney loses. What will become of the Blogosphere? Will it end?

Just those questions that one thinks about at 2 A.M. ThinkingConfused

Jazz Shaw and AllahPundit–Porn Peddlers?

Whoa! Surprise

……and here I thought AllahPundit was just a closeted homo beta male. Rolling on the floor

As for Jazzshaw…. No Comment. Dont tell anyone

But Seriously, Kevin over HillBuzz, reacts to this piece by JazzShaw saying it might not be over on November 6. For the record, I hope like heck that Jazz is wrong too Kevin. Praying

Quoting Jazz:

I suppose I should feel a little bit guilty for saying it, particularly on the pages of a politically oriented publication, but I’m pretty tired of this election. It’s been going on roughly since Christmas of 2008 – or at least it feels that way. The GOP primary was actually pretty good this year and it revved up both my interest and enthusiasm far more than the parade of munchkins on both sides four years earlier. But once it was done, the whole thing began to feel like one, long tedious slog through the summer and an exhausting swamp march to just get it all over with.

I felt that way in 2008, and a bit like that this time too. Although, it seemed a bit less lengthy this time around. More substance and less, well…. Parade?

Either way, it is the 28’th of October. We have nine days to go. Hopefully, things become a bit smoother, Romney wins by a huge margin and everything; outside of the left’s usual losing sorely —- gets back to some sort of normalcy. There are reports of people threatening to go ape-poop, if Obama loses. However, the realist in me, suspects that nothing is going to happen, people will vote and accept the results.

I just hope I am right about that “accepting the results” part. NailbitingWorriedPraying

Public Retraction

A while back I wrote some stuff about a Blogger, that I had heard some stuff about.

Well, based upon what I have seen Here and Here, I publicly retract what I wrote about “Zilla, of the Resistance

Now that I have actually seen the video. I am convinced. To my defense, I just repeated what I was told.

Well, someone was full of crap and I now, and rightly so, feel like the world’s greatest asshole. 🙁

If I had the extra hundred bucks; I would pop it in her tip jar and in Dan’s ; but I do not have it, so I can’t. But those who read this blog can.

So, again, Go and do thou likewise and do it here too.

Conservative Blogger Dan Riehl is deathly sick

When I first saw this; I had a mixed reaction. However, Christianity trumps personal feelings.

DAN RIEHL IS SICK: Dr. Melissa Clouthier writes:

Sorry I didn’t write earlier. Thought you’d want to know that Dan went into the hospital last night with respiratory failure. They had to do pulmonary bypass because he couldn’t be intubated. The doctor gave him a 50-50 chance of living.

I talked to the nurse today, she thinks he’s doing better. They’re currently chasing his heart rate and trying to keep him oxygenated — he has a nasal canula now, which is not that big of a deal. They said they’d try to move him out of ICU tonight but weren’t sure.

He’s at the Fairfax County hospital.

Elizabeth Scalia suggested that I ask you to post a link to his website and maybe his tip jar. Not even sure if he has one.

He does. Here’s the link to his page. The donate button is on the right. I just kicked in a hundred bucks.

This is the difference between true Christianity and Godless secularism. Christianity says “Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.” This is done with the hope and prayer that one day; when the chips are down and you find yourself at death’s door, that someone would do the same to you. Having said the following, I ask anyone that happens to see this blog posting —- go and do thou likewise.

My Prayers for Dan Riehl. I hope he pulls through and gets back to the fight.

That is all..

Memo to the Left: It isn’t just ya’ll, it’s like that here too

One of my fatal flaws is that I am just too dad-blasted honest for my own good. This is why I could never be a partisan blogger. I am not going to sit here and lie and say that I am swimming in the hits. Because I am not, and if you click on my counter, you will see that to be true.

One of the reasons why my blog is not the popular with the “right” is because, quite frankly, I was once on the left. I was a skeptical “left of center” really. More a populist than anything else. I still consider myself to be a populist, of sorts. I am just no longer a “progressive populist,” but more of a Conservative populist or a grassroots independent conservative or something along those lines. What I can say is this; my loyalty is not to the  Republican Party, or to Mitt Romney. I support him and all. However, he is not sending me any money at all. My loyalty is to this Country and to Jesus Christ. It is just that simple.

Another one of the reasons why I am not that I am not that popular among the right wing blogosphere, is that I have, in the past, dared to challenge some of the darlings on the right wing blogosphere. I also did, unfortunately; accidently insult a conservative blogger’s dead wife. I had no idea what the man’s last name was, and a blog war erupted and stuff got said. I wish now, that I had just ignored the stupidity. But, I didn’t and things happened.

Anyhow, I happen to read on the Daily Beast, about how the left wing bloggers are not happy about their influence and because their numbers are down. Now, if I were a partisan hack, like this guy here; I would say it was because your politics suck or something. But, I know better than that.

Guys, I have to be honest, I am not making a dime from this blog at all. Oh, I get the occasional donation. But, I just started back with pay-per-click ads here and so far; I have not gotten a check at all. I have added some new “pay per action ads” But mostly, they are not paying either…yet.  I have in my personal checking account at the moment all of $34.78. Sad isn’t it? No, I am not the “rich” Republican business owner that the Democratic Party keeps on carping about. I just am an American that happens to believe that the Government is just not the “all to end all” solution to the Country’s problems. Needless to say, Murdoch, Koch or any of the rest of the Democratic Party boogeymen are not funding this writer! Some people might think that I have too much advertising; to them, I ask, “What do you have against capitalism?” ConfusedThinkingI dont know

There are some reasons why I believe blogs and bloggers are not what they once were:

  1. Facebook – Like it or not; Facebook is stealing eyeballs away from long-form blogs like this one.
  2. Twitter – Same deal, but in 140 characters
  3. So many blogs — For better or for worse, the blogosphere has grown, in a big way — since back in 2006 and earlier. It can hard to build a following.

I have some advice for those just starting out, and for those who could use the advice, who have been around a while:

  1. Keep it original! – News aggregation sites are a dime a freakin’ dozen. If you want to link to a story, related to your posting; fine, link to it. But, linking and over quoting, without an original opinion of some sort is a huge turn off to many people. Reading a story in different place, does not change the story. Please Note: I have a problem adhering to this rule myself. So, don’t think that I am not guilty.
  2. If you must quote, don’t overdo it! – Just quote enough to get to the meat of the story. Cutting and pasting an entire story and linking to it, with no original thought is lame and turns people off.
  3. Avoid deceptive headlines! – Don’t lie in a headline, just title the blog posting what the story is truly about. People will respect you more, trust me.
  4. Avoid swearing – I know it can be hard; I tend to swear sometimes myself. But, if you swear a bit in blog postings, people will tend not to take you as serious as they would, if you did not swear.
  5. Grammar is important! You can be the best darned blogger on the planet. But, if your postings look like they have been written by a 6 year old; you will not get taken seriously at all. Try to use, “However” and “Therefore,” instead of “But.” It will help, trust me.
  6. Avoid the “Echo Chamber!” — This goes on, on both sides. The left was horrible about it, during the Bush era and now, the right is horrible about it, during the Obama era. Group thought! Everyone saying the same thing. Believe it or not; some people do really like honesty and original thought. Do not be afraid to go against the grain, if you do not agree with something! It is okay to have finite position on something. It is also okay to say, “Hey, I am a Conservative or a liberal; and I happen to think this is wrong, stupid” or whatever. Being a fish, that swims downstream, during upstream season, can be rewarding.
  7. Let the people comment! — Comment sections are what make blogs a community. I see websites, and commercial blogs restricting comments, closing comment sections moderating or even censoring comments. This is insanity. Let the people speak. You set the limits, about what is allowed and what is not and open your blog up for comments. If you are using SEO, comments will bring more hits to your site. If you use blogging software, like WordPress, you can set a list of words, that are not allowed, and if said commenter uses that word, it will end up in the spam folder. If you need a list, contact me, and I will send you mine!
  8. Link around! – Don’t be afraid to link to other bloggers, even if they do not agree with your politics. There is nothing more fun than linking to a blogger, who think he’s an island. Believe me; they might not say it, but they’ll respect you for sending them the traffic.
  9. Don’t be afraid to mix it up a little! — I am not advocating blog wars! I am advocating representing your cause. Sometimes a good public discussion is a good thing, when it is between bloggers. As long as it does not devolve into name calling and fights; a good discussion is a good thing.
  10. Promote thyself! — Facebook and Twitter can be invaluable for blog promotion. Facebook has the feature that allows you to create a page for your blog. There are also free services like twitterfeed, that allow you to automatically post your blog entries to facebook and twitter. Also, word of mouth works well too. Also, do not be afraid to show up in comments sections of your favorite blogs and drop a URL. As long as it is not excessive, the blog owners usually will not mind.
  11. Capitalism is not a bad thing and it will not hurt your blog! —-Whether you are a tree hugging liberal or a gun-toting Conservative. Capitalism, in the form of ads, of some sort, preferably in proper context and with the theme of your blog – can help with revenue. There are are TON of ad companies. Adsense, Adbrite, Blogads, infolinks, Commission Junction, ShareaSale and many more. Sign up for them, put the banners on your blog, don’t be afraid to try new stuff!
  12. Don’t be afraid to try something new! — Remember, it is your blog, and the only person that you really need to make happy, is you. Your readers are your guests and while you want to make them feel at home. The person you should strive to please, is yourself.

So, there, hopefully these ideas will be of help to someone. Much of this, comes from my years of blogging. I have blogged since 2006. I have learned a bit over the years. If you have any questions. Contact me! I will be glad to help out, if I can.

To blogging!

-Patrick
