Thou Shalt Not Kill—perhaps the most famous moral commandment in the western world. And yet Judeo-Christian religious leaders have also created a doctrine that can justify killing—commonly known as Just War Doctrine. What sort of military action does Just War Doctrine permit and what sort does it proscribe? Is America’s campaign against terrorism a just war?
-The birthers love them some Sarah Palin. She’s the most popular politician in the mix with them at 66% favorability. Next is Mike Huckabee at 58%, followed by Newt Gingrich at 46%, and Mitt Romney at 43%.
I mean this with all sincerity- Romney’s lack of popularity with the birther wing of the GOP really could scuttle his chances at the nomination in three years.
Looking at the numbers from another angle- 63% of all Americans with a favorable opinion of Sarah Palin are birthers. Same thing with 53% of those who like Gingrich, 50% who view Huckabee positively, and 44% for Romney.
Remember when W. said ‘some people call you the elites, I call you my base?’ Swap out birthers for elites and you’ve got the makings of a great Palin speech.
My prediction? We’re gonna be screwed come 2012. Especially if the G.O.P. picks HER. I mean, I’m not a Romney fan; and I think he’s bad for the G.O.P. But Palin is worse; much worse.
BAGHDAD — Insurgents struck at the heart of the Iraqi government on Wednesday in huge and coordinated bombings that exposed a new vulnerability after Americans ceded control for security here on June 30. Nearby American soldiers stood by helplessly — despite the needs of hundreds of wounded — waiting for a request for help from Iraqi officials that apparently never came.
A wave of bombings targeted symbols of government, the Foreign and Finance Ministries in central Baghdad, lending an air of siege to the capital. Dozens were killed and hundreds were wounded in the apparently coordinated attacks.
“As much as we want to come, we have to wait to be asked now,” said an American officer who arrived at one blast site almost three hours later and who spoke in return for anonymity because he was not authorized to brief reporters. At one blast site, American soldiers snapped pictures of the devastation before ducking out of the streets.
After weeks of escalating violence in Iraq, powerful truck bombs killed at least 95 people and wounded nearly 600 people at the Foreign and Finance Ministries in central Baghdad, assaults on symbols of government that lent an air of siege to the capital. The bombs crippled the downtown area, closed highways and two main bridges over the Tigris River and clogged hospitals with wounded.
The bombings, the worst since American forces handed over security responsibilities to Iraq at the end of June, shook the Iraqi government’s confidence that it was ready and able to secure the nation.
Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki called for a reassessment of his security measures, calling the attacks “a vengeful response” to his recent, optimistic order to remove blast walls from the streets of Baghdad.
A Defense Ministry spokesman, Maj. Gen. Mohammed al-Askari, was quoted by Reuters as telling American and Iraqi military officers: “We must face the facts. We must admit our mistakes, just as we celebrate our victories.”
And Baghdad’s security spokesman, Maj. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi, told Iraqiya state television, according to Reuters, that attacks were “a security breach for which Iraqi forces must take most of the blame.”
The explosions, one close to the heavily fortified Green Zone and the other less than three miles away, sent plumes of smoke billowing over the capital, ripped a gaping hole in a compound wall and set cars ablaze, trapping drivers inside.
“The whole thing is just so disgusting,” the United States ambassador, Christopher R. Hill, said as he read reports from his staff about the extent of the damage while on an official visit to the northern city of Kirkuk. “They’re just psychopathic.”
Around 11 a.m., the two truck bombs struck the Foreign Ministry and the Finance Ministry within three minutes, officials said, sending white smoke into the sky. The second, more powerful blast was so intense that parts of a main highway near the Finance Ministry collapsed, the rubble littered with shrapnel and splotches of blood. It shattered windows inside the nearby Green Zone and shook houses in many parts of the city. At least 60 people were killed at the Foreign Ministry and at least 35 at the Finance Ministry.
At roughly the same time, attacks in other parts of the city, including three roadside bombs and some mortar and rocket fire, left 13 people wounded, Iraqi officials said.
Of course, the Liberal New York Times had to make sure that this quote was in there; Seeing they are the Anti-Military Paper that they are:
Though no one took credit for the attacks, Iraqis doled out blame both to their government, now fully responsible for security, and to the United States for coming to Iraq in the first place.
“This country is finished,” said one resident, Jamil Jaber, 45, whose five-room home behind the Foreign Ministry had been flattened, crushing a 4-month-old infant. “It’s just robbery and killing.” He cursed the United States and former President George W. Bush.
Oh, Of course, It is Bush’s fault because some idiot rag-head terrorist sets off a fucking bomb in the city of Baghdad. What a fucking ingrate! we should have just nuked that fucking Country into the damned stone age, instead of sending 4000+ of our troops into the Country to basically die; and for what? So some asshole Iraqi can blame us for their problems? What an asshole! That is if it is not a fake quote, which would not surprise me at all.
Here’s the deal folks; War is fucking hell, shit happens, people die. Get used to it! Saddam’s not in power anymore, and the people there are free. That idiot Iraqi sounds like most African-American Liberals; they want to blame someone else, namely White People, for their own damn problems. I suppose some Liberal might try and say that this is happening because we are in that Country in the first place. That is bullshit and most liberals know it.; We have all but left the damn country and the Iraqi Government is now running the show. Hence the Government taking forever to get on the scene.
One other thing I notice is, that most other Bloggers, Conservative and liberal are just not talking about this anymore. I think it is because of the healthcare debate; most people just are not thinking about Iraq. I am not one of these and I hope like hell, that President Obama does not pull us out, before the mission is over. We, as a Nation, cannot afford to make the mistake that we made in Vietnam. We made it before and had a black mark on us for years. We cannot do it again, it will be our shame, if we do.
Countdown to screechy liberals screaming at Obama for us to leave in 5…..4…..3….2…
Remember how Bush was supposed to be the idiot who went into Iraq without a plan, while Obama was supposed to be the cool methodical one? But Reich is admitting that despite all the Administration hoopla, there’s still no plan. Or, possibly, that the White House has a plan, but won’t tell us what it is. And yet the people who don’t want to see a bill — some bill, doing who-knows-what — rammed through in the dead of night are somehow the ones who are ignorant and being manipulated. Right.
Yes, I do. Only plan that floppy-eared socialist has is to turn this Country into another Europe; with Government ran everything. Honestly, I was never a huge Bush fan, at all. As anyone can see, by looking at my archives. But there’s times, when I believe that Obama makes Bush look like farking Einstein.
Anyhow, Yeah, Glenn wrote a good posting, a long one at that. Now, if we could just get him to TITLE the damn things! 🙄
Update: I cannot believe that someone actually complained about my snarky humor that I wove into this piece. My only response to the complaint is this. You think black people don’t call white people names like that, in private? Please. I’ve heard some of those conversations and you would be shocked to know what they really think about us white people. Let me put it to you this way. Jeremiah Wright simple said aloud what MOST, if not ALL black people think about white people. While most have the decency not to say it aloud, most African-Americans DESPISE White people, because of the past. Most will not admit it, but it is true. Believe me, I have heard the conversations and I have been the target of the scorn from them as well. So, while I do regret that someone was offended by my off the cuff humor, I do not apologize for my feelings towards this President, nor his Marxist Politics.
I wanted to do a posting on this and I did not want to do the usual quoting someone else and then adding my thoughts routine. On this posting, I did want to give my complete original thought with reference links as needed. Yes, I am fully aware, as I am sure most of you are; about the idiot Ron Paul follower, who took it upon himself to bring his gun to an event that President Barack Obama was going to be attending. I have also seen the interview that this person gave to Chris Matthews at MSNBC —-which I might add, that the man handled himself very well. Being that he did not fall for the baited trap that Chris Matthews laid out for him.
However, on the subject of what actually took place here, was this man well within his Constitutional right; being he was well within the proper law to carry his gun, the answer to this question is an obvious yes. The second question is and I will answer it; is this. Was it really in the best interests of Conservative, Republicans, and yes, even libertarians and law abiding gun owners for this man to show up at a town-hall meeting where the President of the United States was going to be attending with a Firearm and a sign that says that the Government needs to be overthrown by a violent revolution? I say this as not only Conservative who believes in the right to carry a firearm. But as someone who believes in something, that is not found in this day and age of internet sound bites, called common sense — I am going to come down on that side and say that this man was totally out of line and should been removed from the area. The reason I say this is because I happen to know that our President is getting more threats on his life now, than when the previous Administration was in power.
Please, do not get me wrong, I fully believe in the right to carry and own firearms. As long as that carrying of a firearm, is well within the proper laws of that said state. However, I also believe that this man was horrible distraction to our Secret Service whose job it is to protect our President. This is the huge difference between the mainstream Conservatives and yes, Republicans, who believe in the idea of “Rule of Law” and the whole “Viva Revolution” Ron Paul crowd who believe in a so-called peaceful (Wink Wink) Revolution. The Ron Paul crowd believes that the “Rule of Law” infringes on the Constitutional rights of every American citizen. This, in the opinion of this writer, is an extremist position that is rooted in the concept on anarchy. This is the reason why I consider myself a Conservative, who leans more towards the thought process of a Republican than a libertarian one, because I believe in a moderate interpretation of the Constitution, and because I believe the concept of a rule of law.
The whole depressing aspect of this whole story is this, it simply feeds in to the socialist left’s talking points that guns promote violence and that the right are bunch of gun toting nut cases that run around waiting for a chance to shoot the President. Which I happen to know is bunch of nonsense as does anyone else who has a half of a brain. This is why I happen to believe that the Republican Party and generally Conservatives as a whole need to articulate a clear distinction, between the Constitutional extremists of the “Ron Paul” crowd and those of us who do not subscribe to that sort of a mindset.
The Democrats have now turned to the tactics of the 2003 Bush Administration; calling any sort of dissent “UnAmerican” A move that has many Republicans and Conservatives; and yes, even someDemocrats quite upset.
The quote that has sent Conservatives into a tizzy is this:
These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.

Another whopper in this Op-Ed piece is this here:
Reform will also mean higher-quality care by promoting preventive care so health problems can be addressed before they become crises. This, too, will save money. We’ll be a much healthier country if all patients can receive regular checkups and tests, such as mammograms and diabetes exams, without paying a dime out-of-pocket.
As The Founding Bloggers points out; this might be true, if you do not count the levy of Taxes that will be put on the backs of the American people. They may tell you, “Oh, we are not going to tax anybody!” But sooner or later, the CBO will have to deliver the news that America cannot afford to continue the program, unless the American people are taxed. Money does not grow on trees folks. You can bet your sweet behind that sooner or later, taxes will be levied on the American people. If you have a job, you will taxed, bet on it.
The real sad part here is, that the Democrats are taking a page right straight out of the Bush Administration’s playbook. By accusing those who have opposing views of being Anti-American. That will be their biggest mistake, because independent-minded people, like me, see this and think, “Wow, sounds like Bush all over again!”. Which is how this sounds. You would think that the Democrats learned that lesson during the last eight years. That you do not, not matter what happens; invoke the “Anti-American” word towards anyone that does not agree with you. It is one thing for a blogger like me to say this, about Liberals; because it is my opinion of them. But for someone of Capital Hill to say this; Whether it be Republican or Democrat, is not smart politics at all.
This is just another installment of the massive overreach by the Democrats, they will pay for this in the 2010 election cycle. Usually, a good rule of thumb is, if you are digging your own hole, stop shoveling. In this case, the Democrats rented a backhoe!
The White House’s acting cybersecurity czar announced her resignation Monday, in a setback to the Obama administration’s efforts to better protect the computer networks critical to national security and the global economy.
The resignation highlights the difficulty the White House has had following through on its cybersecurity effort. President Barack Obama first outlined his cybersecurity plans in a high-profile speech May 29, announcing his intention to create a top White House cybersecurity post — a position he has yet to fill.
Melissa Hathaway, who completed the Obama administration’s cybersecurity review in April, said in an interview that she was leaving for personal reasons. “It’s time to pass the torch,” she said, adding that she and her colleagues have provided an “initial down payment for what’s needed to start to address cybersecurity.”
People familiar with the matter said Ms. Hathaway has been “spinning her wheels” in the White House, where the president’s economic advisers sought to marginalize her politically.
[…]
Ms. Hathaway had initially been considered a leading contender to fill the cyber post permanently. She lost favor with the president’s economic team after she said it should consider options for regulating some private-sector entities to ensure they secure their networks, said cybersecurity specialists familiar with the discussions. Being a holdover from the Bush administration didn’t help either, they said.
So much for that bipartisanship and all that talk of leading from the center that we heard about during the election. If you are a Conservative or a hold over from Bush’s Administration, I think it would be a good time to update that resume! Because sooner or later the Oaf in chief is going to throw you under the bus.
A new poster depicting President Obama as a version of Heath Ledger’s Joker character in The Dark Knight has appeared in Los Angeles, according to rightwing sources. Blog posters to such online sites as American Thinker and Tammy Bruce are predictably in the throes of political orgasm.
The poster, which bears a very superficial resemblance to Shepard Fairey’s famous Obama Hope illustration, has been pasted on freeway supports and other public surfaces. It has a bit of everything to appeal to the drunk tank of California conservatism: Obama is in white face, his mouth (like Ledger’s Joker’s) has been grotesquely slit wide open and the word “Socialism” appears below his face. The only thing missing is a noose.
Hmmmm….. Does anyone remember this?: (Via Big Hollywood)
All one need to do is a quick google image search you’ll all sorts of unhinged liberal stuff against Bush:
You know Stuff like this:
and this:
But yet, the liberal L.A. Weekly will wet their pants over something as simple as calling Obama and joke and a, God-forbid, Socialist?!?!
Hypocrisy, thy name is Democrats, Liberals and Socialists.
President Obama has become quite the golf fanatic since he began his presidency.
The commander in chief is out on the links again today, playing a round at Andrews Air Force Base. This is the 10th time in as many weeks that Obama has found time to squeeze in some golf (all weekends, except for one Monday.)
In fact, the White House press corps has come up with a nickname to refer to the President’s golfing habits: “The First Duffer,” as they refer to him in pool reports when he’s hitting the links.
Today, Obama is playing with White House aides Ben Finkenbinder and Marvin Nicholson, as well as David Katz, the official photographer for his 2008 campaign.
In the past, Obama has played with U.S Trade Representative Ronk Kirk, Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, and personal aide Reggie Love, among others.
You know, I hate to sound like such an a-hole, especially this early in the morning and all. But can anyone tell me why the media gives two shits about the President playing a game of golf? I mean, seriously! Who cares!?!?! I really do not and I am almost positive the American people really do not care either. Yeah, I know the media savaged Bush for doing it and they were right to. That is because Bush was playing golf, while people were fucking dying in Iraq and I believe during Katrina too. So, it was justified, I felt. But with President Obama, it is different. Because nothing major is happening, it is more like silly fawning over a new boyfriend or something. It is, I feel, on the verge of getting quite old.
When I say nothing major is happening; what I am saying is this. The Iraq war is about wound down, Afghanistan is not going nearly as bad as Iraq. The whole background picture is different. All I am saying folks, is that the media needs to get out of this damned fawning mode and get back to serious reporting.
