Blogs 4 Borders is going on long term Hiatus!
It seems that my friends M.J. and Jake are going have to put Blogs for Borders on Long term hiatus, due to a personal financial situation. Hey, it’s tough everywhere right now, including in the world of border security. I know their pain, all too well, this is why I stick up for the middle class on this Blog.
Here’s their “final” Video:
I don’t know if they’ll be back, but until then, you can head on over to their Blog called “Freedom Folks” and check out the latest on the battle against illegal immigration.
Former Indy Senate Candidate still wants to see Bush and Cheney Impeached
Via the Independent Political Report:
via contact.ipr@gmail.com
OPEN LETTER TO TOM ALLEN:
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO DO THE RIGHT THINGDear Tom,
You and I have spoken over the years about a number of different items for your consideration as a Congressman. Most recently the central issue that concerned me has been the impeachment of the Vice President and the President. On that point, despite your public statement in Cape Neddick over a year ago that you believe “impeachable offenses have been committed,” you have been adamant about refusing either to co-sponsor an impeachment resolution or to submit a resolution of your own.
You have offered the following reasons for your stance: it will detract from the business of Congress and Congress will not be able to do anything else; and, there isn’t enough time for an impeachment process. In addition you implied that it was not a politically wise move to undertake. I have never agreed with these rationalizations, I do not agree with them today, and I will not accept the reason that politics trumps preserving the Constitution and the nation.
The most important business of Congress and those elected to serve is contained in the oath of office to which you swore — “to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic…”
That the President and Vice-President and other members of the administration have committed “high crimes and misdemeanors” is a matter of public record by their own admissions. I do not need to remind you of the particulars since I believe that you have familiarized yourself with the 39 impeachment charges submitted by your colleague, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH). Thus, I submit that an impeachment investigation could be conducted in very short order. Perhaps a day or two would suffice.
You may wonder why I am bringing up this topic with only two months remaining in the Bush administration. I raise it because there is still time to preserve the Constitution and to prevent future administrations from further destroying the balance of powers among the three branches of government. The Founding Fathers in their Declaration of Independence railed against a unitary executive, King George, and now we have another George who is governing in like manner and potentially establishing precedent for future “Georges.”
An article in the New York Times [11/13/08] by Charles Savage details the precedent that has been established by former presidents – Harry Truman and Richard Nixon — to exercise executive privilege even after leaving office. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) is quoted as saying, “The Bush administration overstepped in its exertion of executive privilege, and may very well try to continue to shield information from the American people after it leaves office.” If this were to be the case, then the subpoenas issued by Congress would become moot and the American people would not learn about torture of detainees and the roles of Karl Rove and Harriet Miers in the firing of federal prosecutors among other key issues.
The commencement of an impeachment hearing will preclude the administration from exercising executive privilege and ignoring subpoenas. And perhaps most importantly, it will preclude President Bush from issuing a self-pardon, pardoning Scooter Libby, preemptively pardoning Dick Cheney and others who serve or have served in his administration.
Therefore, Tom, I ask you in these closing days of your term in office to demonstrate that you know what is right, that your oath of office is meaningful to you and that you have the courage to protect your country and its Constitution. I ask that you join as a co-sponsor of the Impeachment Resolutions filed by Rep. Kucinich, or in the alternative, file your own impeachment resolution. Once having accomplished either of those acts, stand tall and advocate loudly. In this way you can preserve your honor and potentially rehabilitate your reputation. You have nothing to lose and possibly much to gain.
Peace,
Herbert J. Hoffman
Former Candidate for U. S. Senate
Ogunquit
You see the only issue in that whole idea is this here. It would be looked at, by the majority of American; the exception being the far, far left; as being extremely stupid to impeach Bush, at this point. The Democrat’s had the chance to do this early on and they refused. Right now, the Nation has much more important fish to fry, so to speak, than an impeachment trial.
Besides this, I do not believe himself is to blame for what happened during the lead up to the war and after. This whole “Bush lied, thousands died” idiotic nonsense is the chorus line of the far left. Bush didn’t LIE, Bush acted on bad intelligence. Anyone that continues to parrot that old line of the far left, deserves to be taken about seriously as Dennis Kucinich was for President of the United States.
Just my take on it.

John McCain to run in 2010
Taegan Goddard Reports:
“After much speculation that his failed presidential bid would be his last campaign, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has decided to run for re-election to his Senate seat in 2010,” according to Roll Call.
Said a GOP source close to the Arizona senator: “He’s ready to get back. He likes the game. He likes the deals.
This is a good thing. McCain is needed in the Senate. Even if it is to shine some of the Democrat’s shoes. 😉
Guest Voice: Welcome To Obamaburger. May I Take Your Money
Welcome To Obamaburger. May I Take Your Money?
By: J.J. Jackson
Behind the counter is an Obamaburger employee busily filing her fingernails and who barely looks up as a young man approaches her, bypassing a longer line at another register which does not seem to be moving. “Welcome to Obamaburger. May I take your money?” she asks listlessly.
The perplexed customer responds, “Don’t you mean take my order?”
Her response, without so much as a look is, “Sir, you’re holding up the line. Don’t make me call security.”
The customer, looks behind him and notices that he is the only one in this particular line but not wanting to cause a fuss replies hastily, “Geez, ok. Uh … let’s see. I will have –”
“Sir, I need your Social Security Number first.”
“Excuse me?” the customer asks.
“Your Social Security Number sir. You’re holding up the line again.”
“What line?” Now, very confused the customer asks again, “What do you need my Social Security Number for?”
Finally looking up from her “work” the employee gets very testy at the delay and the line of questioning. “That’s it, I’m calling security –”
“What? No …” scared at what is going on the customer finally concedes to her demands, “Alright my number is 123-45-6789.”
Sighing at the thought of having to finally do something productive, the lady behind the counter starts punching numbers into her register, “One moment while I pull up your tax return for last year.”
“My tax return? What the hell are you doing?”

Democratic Party Family Values at work!
This is just too rich to pass up…
Via Fox News:
A married congressman who faces accusations that he had an affair with a former aide and paid her to keep quiet about it also was having an affair with a second woman around the same time, a person close to his campaign told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Details of the second affair came hours after Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney held a news conference to address a story, first reported by ABC News, that he had been involved with the former aide. Mahoney acknowledged he had caused "embarrassment and heartache" to his family but denied doing anything illegal.
Mahoney, 52, won his seat in 2006 while promising to return morals and family values to Washington in the aftermath of the resignation of former Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Foley. Foley stepped down when it was revealed he sent lurid Internet messages to male teenage pages who had worked on Capitol Hill. Foley was later cleared of criminal wrongdoing by state and federal authorities.
Mahoney’s seat was already considered to be one of the more competitive House races, and he has been facing a tough challenge in a district that traditionally leans slightly Republican. He faces former Army officer Tom Rooney, a lawyer whose family owns the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mahoney himself did not directly address the first purported tryst during a news conference earlier in the day, but instead issued a statement taking "full responsibility for my actions and the pain I have caused my wife Terry and my daughter Bailey."
"No marriage is perfect," Mahoney said, "but our private life is our private life."
The real kicker is this here:
Mahoney, 52, won his seat in 2006 while promising to return morals and family values to Washington in the aftermath of the resignation of former Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Foley. Foley stepped down when it was revealed he sent lurid Internet messages to male teenage pages who had worked on Capitol Hill. Foley was later cleared of criminal wrongdoing by state and federal authorities.
*snort* Those are some real nice family values there sir!
Two affairs? Wow!
I mean, I can understand the one, but two? Oy. That’s just beyond stupid. ![]()
Something tells me this guy is not going to be in office for very long at all.
But then again, that’s the Democrats for you. ![]()

"Bail out" Bill passes first hurdle, goes to the house
Hurdle one passed, now let’s see if it makes it out of the House.
Senate endorses bailout as economy stutters (Via Reuters):
The Senate endorsed a revised $700 billion plan to tackle a financial crisis that has shaken world markets and drawn warnings of approaching economic catastrophe.
The plan now faces a final hurdle in the House of Representatives, which rocked global markets this week by rejecting an earlier version. President George W. Bush, speaking after Wednesday night’s 74-25 Senate vote, called the bailout “essential to the financial security of every American”.
Personally, I expect the bill to pass the House. Because Democrats and Republicans both agree that this thing is needed, badly. What I do expect to continue to see is a resistance amongst fiscal conservatives amongst the grass roots. Not that I think that there’s anything wrong with it. Because personally, like I’ve said on here before. I am just not that thrilled with the idea of our banking system being nationalized. However, from a middle class stand point and from the standpoint of someone who lives in a state where unemployment is higher than the rest of the country. I think allowing our economy to grind to a halt is just not a smart idea.
More on the House part:
Leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives expressed cautious optimism that the legislation would be approved.
Senate leaders hope that sweetening the plan with a tax cut and extended federal protection for bank deposits can turn “no” voters into supporters. On Monday, the House rejected the previous version of the plan by a 228-205 vote.
“It’s still uncertain. I think it is likelier to pass than before,” House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank said in an interview on CNN.
“The main change is reality. I think that it’s not possible now to scoff at the predictions of doom if we don’t do anything,” the Massachusetts Democrat added.
Many Americans resent the idea that Wall Street is being “bailed out” at taxpayer expense, and have made their views clear in emails and calls to Washington, putting pressure in particular on vulnerable members of the House.
Thus exposing why the house members are gun shy on voting for this bill:
All 435 House seats will be contested in the election on November 4, as opposed to 35 seats up for grabs in the Senate
While they may want to save the country, they also want to keep those cushy senate jobs too. ![]()
Overall, it should be an interesting vote. One that I shall follow here on this Blog.
