An Interesting Movie

I post this because I believe that it is interesting. Alex Jones has always struck me as a kook. Someone amongst the “Tin Foil Hat” crowd. However, it is something interesting to watch.

Enjoy…

What do you think? Do you think that there is any truth to this?

The Automotive Bailouts: The Other Side of the Story

I have been sitting here, trying to keep out of this. But I have sat and looked at the Republican and NeoConservative Spin on this Story and I’m sick of it. 😡

So, I am giving you, the other side of the story, from the horses mouth; without commentary from me.

I did not ask that you agree, I simply ask that you listen and hear this man out. Now I am almost sure, that the Blogs, that I have linked to, will remove my trackback, like the Neo-Con Fascists that they are. I mean, it is all about controlling the message with those guys.  🙄

Interesting News: Edwards campaign giving refunds, but not to small donors.

This is a very interesting news, which comes to us, by fellow Conservative Blogger LBG1 over at Death by 1000 Papercuts or DBKP for short.

It seems that John Edwards is giving much of his money back to the “Big Bundlers” some of whom are convicted felons. But according to DBKP, not much of it is going back to the Grassroots supporters.

LBG1 Writes:

We found it interesting, at a time when Warren Buffet on CNBC This Morning (courtesy Mickey Kaus at Slate) mused whether Edwards’ contributors should file a class-action suit to get their money back, there’s a whole other “class” of individuals who’ve received their refund. And what an interesting “class” we found:

Out of 667 “bundlers” or designated fundraisers, 276 or 40%, had received a refund of their individual contributions. Not only did the individual bundlers get their money back but in some cases so did their family members.

Other refundees included Fred Baron, Edwards’ former national finance campaign chairman in both the ‘04 and ‘08 elections. Baron recently admitted that he had been monetarily “helping” Edwards’ ex-mistress, Rielle Hunter. The list includes some of Edwards’ largest bundlers, Thomas Girardi, John O’Quinn, and William Lerash, as well as other “famous” refundees: Michael Eisner, Don Henley, Eric Montross, and Michigan Congressman (D) David Bonoir of Michigan.

We took a look at the Edwards campaign website to see if there was any info listed on how to get a refund and came up empty-handed.

We’ve included a list of Edward’s bundlers who have received a refund as well the “moneybags” behind Edwards who got their money back too:

According to Insider Exclusive, Thomas Girardi was named the “The Billion Dollar Gentleman” by the L.A. Daily Journal for $1 billion in verdicts and settlements over a two-year period.

According to Opensecrets.org, Girardi’s firm, Girardi and Keese donated $43,000 to Edwards’ campaign. Thomas Girardi, the founder of the firm, received his Edwards’ refund check as well as members of his family.

Interesting indeed, one has to wonder why the MSM has not covered this story? Could it be that they were possibly bought off by Edwards to prevent him for going though anymore embarrassment? I mean the Liberal media did seem to have a very cozy relationship with Edwards, when they were not ignoring him.

It just makes me wonder, if Edward’s donors, the one’s who gave of their time, money and resources will be wanting their money back. I will admit this, I kind of did like Edwards, his laid back southern manner appealed to the Southern man in me. Although, I did find his politics quite hypocritical, considering how he lived on a multi-million dollar ranch and all.

An exit question: Is Hillary refunding any of her donations?

Further thoughts on the Edwards scandal …

It seems that John’s Wife, Elizabeth has posted a message at Kos.

Today by Elizabeth Edwards (Via DailyKos):

Our family has been through a lot. Some caused by nature, some caused by human weakness, and some – most recently – caused by the desire for sensationalism and profit without any regard for the human consequences. None of these has been easy. But we have stood with one another through them all. Although John believes he should stand alone and take the consequences of his action now, when the door closes behind him, he has his family waiting for him.

John made a terrible mistake in 2006. The fact that it is a mistake that many others have made before him did not make it any easier for me to hear when he told me what he had done. But he did tell me. And we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007. This was our private matter, and I frankly wanted it to be private because as painful as it was I did not want to have to play it out on a public stage as well. Because of a recent string of hurtful and absurd lies in a tabloid publication, because of a picture falsely suggesting that John was spending time with a child it wrongly alleged he had fathered outside our marriage, our private matter could no longer be wholly private.

The pain of the long journey since 2006 was about to be renewed.

John has spoken in a long on-camera interview I hope you watch. Admitting one’s mistakes is a hard thing for anyone to do, and I am proud of the courage John showed by his honesty in the face of shame. The toll on our family of news helicopters over our house and reporters in our driveway is yet unknown. But now the truth is out, and the repair work that began in 2006 will continue. I ask that the public, who expressed concern about the harm John’s conduct has done to us, think also about the real harm that the present voyeurism does and give me and my family the privacy we need at this time.

Unlike some, who are berating her for her husband’s action. I will not do this. What people need to understand is this, The Edwards family is more than just a political family; they are southern folk. Now before anyone takes this the wrong way, as my now deceased Grandmother, who was from Dalton, Georgia would say, “Now hold your horses!” So, hold your horses, and hear me out.

It is a commonplace among the women on the south, to be fiercely protective of their husbands. No matter what they have done. Yes, I am sure she is angry with him, who would not be? Nevertheless, she still loves him, and that protective kind of a love, which is very common in the south, is a bizarre thing to behold. Believe me, when I say this, this is not to be taken as an insult. That is the, if you will pardon the illusion to it, the “Stand by your man” kind of love, that Hillary Clinton mocked. If Edwards were from New York, he would be a single man by now.

However, the Edwards are from the south, it is taught or used to be taught, back in the old days, that Women were to stand by their man, and love him, no matter what. Where does this sort of a teaching come from? The Church. From the Bible itself. It is part of our common American value system. There is nothing wrong with it at all.

Does this justify the fact that Mrs. Edwards knowingly lied about her husband’s affair to their followers and staff? No. Does it justify that the Edwards used their supposed “Family Values” as a charade to get Edwards elected? Not one bit. Nevertheless, the fact remains; she was doing what she was trained to do. Protecting the one she loves.

What drives me up the proverbial wall is the media’s insistence that somehow that the Edwards owe them some sort of an apology. I have not in my many years of following Politics, from afar and now close up like I do, seen such utter hypocrisy from the main stream media in my entire life. All during the primary election, the Main Stream Media could have given two plug nickels about the Edwards campaign; they were too busy with their proverbial noses being stuck up the proverbial royal behinds of Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Now that this scandal has broken, they somehow or another have appointed themselves to be the judge, jury and executioners of the Edwards personal lives, future political ambitions and future in the public eye as a whole. This, as far as this political blogger is concerned, speaks to the thuggish mafia mentality of the cooperate controlled Media in this country. It also speaks to the “I got to have the latest greatest news” mentality of the 21-century populous in this Nation and in this God-Forsaken world of ours as a whole.

As I said previously in my last posting on this subject, my prayers will be with the Edwards family. But my prayers will also be that the Blogging world and that the main stream media would finally see this damned story for that it is; a private family matter and will collectively as whole, move on to the next story.

My thoughts on the Edwards Affair

Yes, I know about the Edwards affair story. I have been sitting here and thinking about it. A few thoughts:

  • Cheating on your wife, while she is terminal with cancer, makes you a scum ball in my book.
  • I do not buy the lie that he did not father the child. Why did he just not admit it?
  • Why did the media just sit on this, while the tabloids worked the story?
  • Somewhere, Ann Coulter is beside herself with glee and writing a very snarky column.
  • I feel terribly awful for Edward’s Adult Children, Kids, and of course, his poor wife.
  • Let us not forget, John McCain’s past, when it comes to Women, is not exactly honorable.
  • Let us also remember that Barack Obama is very happily married with two kids.

John Edwards has released an official statement: (Via Marc Ambinder @ The Atlantic)

In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. I recognized my mistake and I told my wife that I had a liaison with another woman, and I asked for her forgiveness. Although I was honest in every painful detail with my family, I did not tell the public. When a supermarket tabloid told a version of the story, I used the fact that the story contained many falsities to deny it. But being 99% honest is no longer enough.

I was and am ashamed of my conduct and choices, and I had hoped that it would never become public. With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then. I am and have been willing to take any test necessary to establish the fact that I am not the father of any baby, and I am truly hopeful that a test will be done so this fact can be definitively established. I only know that the apparent father has said publicly that he is the father of the baby. I also have not been engaged in any activity of any description that requested, agreed to or supported payments of any kind to the woman or to the apparent father of the baby.

It is inadequate to say to the people who believed in me that I am sorry, as it is inadequate to say to the people who love me that I am sorry. In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up – feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help.

I have given a complete interview on this matter and having done so, will have nothing more to say.

See ya silky, just go away, go away now and don’t ever come back.

Update: Reader Simon e-mails:

Hey Paleo Pat,

I read your post about John Edwards finally admitting to his affair. I
don’t know if you remember this, but the LA Times banned its bloggers
from writing about the Edwards affair story because they didn’t think
the National Enquirer was a “reputable” source. I actually got a phone
interview with one of the LA Times’ top editors who said so:

I bet the National Enquirer is feeling vindicated right now.

Anyway, I thought you and your readers would find this humorous.

Take care,
Simon

Yes, I do find this to be quite funny actually. Thanks Simon.

My thoughts on the Edwards Photos…

I must say that I agree with AllahPundit over at HotAir.com.

Those photos of Edwards look quite doctored to me as well. They also have a blur effect applied to them as well. This makes them quite suspect to me.

If I were Edwards, I would be hiring an attorney and suing the living snot out of that magazine.

Editorial: The Edwards “Affair” Story and the Main Stream Media

There is nothing that quite annoys me more than anything else, and that is to have to repeat myself on this Blog and in my writings in general. However, this one of those times when a repeat and a formal editorial on one of the most idiotic stories to ever hit the blogging world is stubbornly refusing to die.

As some of you might have read here earlier, there is a story floating around in the scandal sheets that John Edwards is having an extra martial affair with another woman. I commented on it very briefly once already.  However, it seems that this annoying story is now taking a very different turn.  The Bloggers on the Conservative side of the aisle, lacking anything substantive to Blog about are continuing the discussion about it.

Some of these Conservative Bloggers are wailing rather loudly about the Main Stream Media’s lack of coverage of this particular story and are asking why is it not being covered by them.

Ladies and Gentleman of the Blogging community let me give you the professional answer to the provocative question that has been looming in the Blogsophere.  The reason why the Main Stream media, so far, has refused to cover this rather idiotic story can be summed up into two great words, which are not commonly found in the world of Blogging and those words are; Journalistic Integrity.

Journalistic Integrity is a common mode of practice in most newsrooms across the country.  It is the law that dictates as to how the news is reported.  It is the law the tells the political news reporters not to harp on a story that was first found in a scandal rag that is more noted for it’s bald faced lies, than it is for it’s honesty in reporting. It is the law that tells reporters that they are not to attempt to ruin the life of a man, who has spent his entire life helping people, all over a story that is simply nothing more than some fabulist’s creative writing project.

Politics aside, this story, that is being heralded on some political Blogs as some conspiracy theory to cover up a man’s wrong doing.  This is something that could ruin a man’s life, and personally, I think that any Blogger that would knowingly pass this story on knowing that it is false, Frankly, I think that man is nothing more than a simple-minded bastard.

To my fellow Bloggers, to those of you who still have any sort of human conscience still left within you.  I ask of you, as a fellow Blogger.  I ask you, as a fellow Conservative.  I ask you as an American, as a fellow human being.  Please, for the sake of the Edwards family.  For the sake of Elisabeth Edwards, who, by the way, is dying of cancer, let this bastard story die the proper death.

Ladies and Gentleman, we are Americans and we can do better than this.  I, like many other Conservative Bloggers, share a high disdain of the socialist agenda of the Liberal Democratic Party.  However, I find the repeating of a story that frankly sounds like it was the work of a high school fabulist writer, to be unconscionable.

It has been said and it has been sung, and it has have been written in the Bible, that there is a time and place for everything.  This not the time, nor is it the proper place, nor is it the proper story.  Let us show the Liberal Blogging community that we are the political ideology of integrity and respect and not the party of petty back alley childish foolishness.

The Republican Party is already in a crisis state, this would only add to that crisis.  Let us not be foolish in our doings.
