Washington Post does the race hustle

Remember that Obama in joker makeup poster story that I blogged about? It now seems that the Washington Post has decided that it is racist.

Between Jack Nicholson’s 1989 portrayal of the Joker in “Batman” and Heath Ledger’s 2008 characterization in “The Dark Knight,” something sinister happened to the villain’s iconic makeup. What had been a mask, with the clearly delineated lines of a carnival character, became simply war paint, and not very well applied.

The visual change signaled a change in the Joker’s inner mechanism. Nicholson’s dandified virtuoso of violence was replaced by a darker, more unpredictable and psychotic figure. What had been a caricature became more real and threatening. An urbane mocker of civilized values became simply a deformed product of urban violence.

The new Obama poster has two basic thrusts. Obama is a socialist, or a crypto-socialist. And Obama is somehow like the Joker, unpredictable and dangerous. But joining these two messages together yields more questions and contradictions than good poster art can sustain. The Joker is violent and dangerous, but a socialist? And didn’t we see George W. Bush depicted as the Joker not so long ago?

So why the anonymity? Perhaps because the poster is ultimately a racially charged image. By using the “urban” makeup of the Heath Ledger Joker, instead of the urbane makeup of the Jack Nicholson character, the poster connects Obama to something many of his detractors fear but can’t openly discuss. He is black and he is identified with the inner city, a source of political instability in the 1960s and ’70s, and a lingering bogeyman in political consciousness despite falling crime rates.

The Joker’s makeup in “Dark Knight” — the latest film in a long franchise that dramatizes fear of the urban world — emphasized the wounded nature of the villain, the sense that he was both a product and source of violence. Although Ledger was white, and the Joker is white, this equation of the wounded and the wounding mirrors basic racial typology in America. Urban blacks — the thinking goes — don’t just live in dangerous neighborhoods, they carry that danger with them like a virus. Scientific studies, which demonstrate the social consequences of living in neighborhoods with high rates of crime, get processed and misinterpreted in the popular unconscious, underscoring the idea. Violence breeds violence.

Superimpose that idea, through the Joker’s makeup, onto Obama’s face, and you have subtly coded, highly effective racial and political argument. Forget socialism, this poster is another attempt to accomplish an association between Obama and the unpredictable, seeming danger of urban life. It is another effort to establish what failed to jell in the debate about Obama’s association with Chicago radical William Ayers and the controversy over the racially charged sermons of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Obama, like the Joker and like the racial stereotype of the black man, carries within him an unknowable, volatile and dangerous marker of urban violence, which could erupt at any time. The charge of socialism is secondary to the basic message that Obama can’t be trusted, not because he is a politician, but because he’s black.

Cue the Music!

This is nothing more than classic race hustling or race baiting. To say that the poster depicting Obama as the joker invokes images of racism; is a bit of stretch. It simple implies that we real, true, America-loving citizens do not approve of Obama’s socialistic agenda. Nothing more, nothing less. If anyone gets anything other than this out of it. They are projecting something onto it, that is not there.

Again, this is more of your Post-Racism Racialism that exists within the Democratic Party. It is simply more of that stirring of the pot, that brings more votes to that party. It also most likely is a some sort of interference run; see that Obama’s numbers are lower than Bush’s were during his first few months in office. I mean, point blank; the man has been a damn failure in office and the American people are feeling a bad case of voters remorse and it is showing. Of course some are pointing to some over sampling in the polls and fear a nefarious motive. This could very well be, but I like to think that people are just waking up; and that, my friends, is a good thing.

So, again, this article is nothing more than a lame social Liberal attempt to avert attention away from the important facts about this Administration and to stir up old wounds of a Pre-Post-Racial America. Nice try guys; but real clear thinking Americans are just not buying it.

Gates-Gate Redux

I would like to applaud President Obama for bringing Sergeant Crowley, me and our families together. I would also like to thank the President for welcoming my father, Henry Louis Gates, Sr., who for most of his life has been a Republican! My dad turned 96 this past June, and the fact that he worked two jobs every day is the reason that my brother, Dr. Paul Gates, and I were able to receive such splendid educations. I am honored that he chose to join me at the White House, along with my fiancée, my daughters, and my brother.

Sergeant Crowley and I, through an accident of time and place, have been cast together, inextricably, as characters – as metaphors, really – in a thousand narratives about race over which he and I have absolutely no control. Narratives about race are as old as the founding of this great Republic itself, but these new ones have unfolded precisely when Americans signaled to the world our country’s great progress by overcoming centuries of habit and fear, and electing an African American as President. It is incumbent upon Sergeant Crowley and me to utilize the great opportunity that fate has given us to foster greater sympathy among the American public for the daily perils of policing on the one hand, and for the genuine fears of racial profiling on the other hand.

Let me say that I thank God that I live in a country in which police officers put their lives at risk to protect us every day, and, more than ever, I’ve come to understand and appreciate their daily sacrifices on our behalf. I’m also grateful that we live in a country where freedom of speech is a sacrosanct value and I hope that one day we can get to know each other better, as we began to do at the White House this afternoon over beers with President Obama.

Thank God we live in a country where speech is protected, a country which guarantees and defends my right to speak out when I believe my rights have been violated; a country that protects us from arrest when we do express our views, no matter how unpopular.

And thank God that we have a President who can rise above the fray, bridge age-old differences and transform events such as this into a moment in the evolution of our society’s attitudes about race and difference. President Obama is a man who understands tolerance and forgiveness, and our country is blessed to have such a leader.

Having spent my academic career trying to bridge differences and promote understanding among Americans, I can report that it is far more comfortable being the commentator than being commented upon. At this point, I am hopeful that we can all move on, and that this experience will prove an occasion for education, not recrimination. I know that Sergeant Crowley shares this goal. Both of us are eager to go back to work tomorrow. And it turns out that the President just might have a few other things on his plate as well.

Great, now can we just please move on to something a bit more important? Like that fact Obama’s Poll numbers are dropping, or the fact that Obama’s HealthCare plan is going down in flames? Or at least something, at bit more substantive?

The Sadly Obligatory "Jungle Monkey" Police officer posting

I really did not want to touch this story; because of it’s nature. But really you are most likely going to be shocked as to my opinion on this.

An officer in the Boston Police Department was suspended yesterday for allegedly writing a racially charged e-mail about Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. to colleagues at the National Guard, a law enforcement official said. Mayor Thomas M. Menino compared the officer to a cancer and said he is “gone, g-o-n-e” from the force.

Barrett, a 36-year-old who has been on the job for two years, was stripped of his gun and badge yesterday and faces a termination hearing in the next week, said police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll. He has no previous disciplinary record, she said.

“Yesterday afternoon, Commissioner Davis was made aware that Officer Barrett was the author of correspondence which included racially charged language,” she said. “At that time, Commissioner Davis immediately stripped Officer Barrett of his gun and badge, and at this time we will be moving forward with the hearing process.”

Barrett will receive legal representation from Boston Police Patrolmen’s Assocation, the police officer’s union. A woman who answered the phone at the police association said that union president Thomas J. Nee was not available for comment, but said he would be releasing a statement this evening.

Barrett could not immediately be reached for comment.

How about you never should have written the stupid e-mail in the first place and passed it around to your friends?  You moron.

Some of you were most likely thinking that I would come to the defense of this douche nozzle. Well, surprise. 🙄

I would not no more defend a person like this, than I would defend some person who robbed a bank and happened to be a police officer and a member of the National Guard. What this idiot forgot is this; Police Officers are servants of the people, not Masters. Some goes for National Guardsman, they are servants of the Government and by proxy the people of the state of Massachusetts. What this idiot did not only reflects bad on the city of Boston, but also on the National Guard. Does this man have the right to feel the way that he does? Yes. But does he have the right to espouse such hatred while  in the employment of the city of Boston and in the deployment of the National Guard? I am afraid that answer is no.  I am sorry, but racism is wrong; whether it is White on Black or Black on White; and yes there is both. The point is that it is still wrong and should not be tolerated by any City, State or Federal Government.

At the same time, there may be emotional and practical limits to public patience when confronted with the anti-white vibes of those whom the masses empowered. The public reaction to Obama’s statements about the police “behaving stupidly” in dealing with Gates made me think that while voters will put up with a leftist black president who pushes quotas, they don’t want him to show his true feelings too openly. Obama pushed the envelope, by taking the side of a mouthy race-hustler against an immaculately liberal white policeman and his black fellow-officer. What then happened indicates that some white people are suddenly beginning to wake up to political reality.

Answering Wizbang

D.J. Drummond has written a well written piece on race relations. I agree with the majority of it; However one little part did not resonate with me well at all.

The first requirement for a racial dialogue is mutual respect by and for all parties.

Mr. Drummond, I will start respecting the Negro race, when they stop blaming me and all Anglo-Saxon Americans for the problems in their own communities. Further more, I will start respecting the Negro race when they stop blaming me personally for things that happened before I was even born. Things like Slavery and the racial discrimination in the south.

Further more, I will start respecting the Negro community when they stop with the damn grievance-mongering that goes on constantly; mainly in the Negro Liberal Circles. After all, it was the Republican Party that set them free. But no; the Negro Community was not satisfied with that.  They had to have more, so, they were given affirmative action; a program that allowed for the legal discrimination of Anglo-Saxon Americans; commonly known as White People.

It was said, long ago, among those who were opposed to the ending of the slave trade; that “If we give them an inch, they will take a mile.” Something that it very true amongst the Liberals and the Minority crowd. I am afraid that those people were absolutely correct.

Racist you say? No, not hardly. More like a Realist.

Bob Parks responds and beclowns himself badly.

Bob Parks, the so-called Republican, who is really a Black Racist Bigot; has responded to my accusation of him being a Racist, and in the process made himself to look like quite the fool.

Parks, taking a break from his admiring himself in the mirror writes:

Those of you who’ve been here for the long run know that I’ve gone out of my way to not make B&R a “black” site.

Then why did you name it “Black and Right” for then, Einstein? Why was not it named, “The World According to Bob”, or “Bob’s Thoughts”, or something that, instead of the racial identity laden “Black & Right”? That is because you are hung up on the whole “black identity” issue; something that is very common among African-Americans. This is not to say that I hold that against Bob. He has a right to do that, after all; We White people did use his people as slaves for over 300 years. But that is hardly the trait of an Conservative. Real true Conservatives abhor any sort of identity politics. That is unless your Neil Podhartz or Willaim Kristol. (I know Parks is just gonna love that last crack)

As far as the “retard” piece goes, I was citing a provision in the health care bill which uses that demeaning term. In seeking out a quick pic to place on the post, I found the pic in question after conducting a brief Google search.

Chuck Adkins, AKA Paleo Pat (why the alias, I don’t know) of PoliticalByline.com calls me a racist asshole because I picked a white kid as the one I posted and linked to. To be quite honest, choosing the proper race of the kid was something I never considered, but I also don’t remember seeing any pics of black, mentally handicapped children. I don’t know if that was because black people can’t afford cameras, chose not to place pics they had online, or just aborted children they knew would be abnormal at the prodding of Planned Parenthood.

Wow, When Bob cannot win the argument, he resorts to personal insults. Which is quite typical of people of his ilk. To explain, Pat or Patrick is my middle name. I already had a account at Bob’s Blog, from commenting there long ago. Plus, Bob; seeing that he cannot win this point, resorts to playing that Black Victim card! Again, typical from someone of his ilk. But hardly becoming of a true Conservative.

I would have preferred to see that, seeing that this is a Black website, despite your rather lame attempt to obfuscate that fact. But I will concede one point. I looked and could not find any pictures of Mentally Handicapped black babies either. So, that one you are correct about.

American Idol auditionee Alexis Cohen a “troubled” young woman.

If she hadn’t been killed last weekend by a hit-and-run driver, would Mr. Adkins have had a problem with her video rant? If he was/is a true conservative, yes he would have, as she spouted off the very language that would be found enlightening in liberal circles. If the issue of making a statement about her too close to her death was an issue, would Chuck Adkins have a problem with my saying that the late Obama bin Laden’s son (who was killed by a Predator drone last week) was “troubled”?

To be quite honest, I watched about a minute of the video, I found her standing there yammering on, to be quite annoying. Which brings me to another question, why could any self respecting Conservative even watch anything like that, at all? As for the Bin Laden comment, I would preferred to see Osama, Not Obama; Bin Laden’s son, along with his Father killed eight years ago, when then President George W. Bush started Military action against Afghanistan. But instead, President George W. Bush; being the Wilsonian President he was, acted upon a piece of bad intelligence, took us to war in Iraq. Which had zero to do with September 11’th. Before you call me a liar Bob, The Bush Administration said that they were wrong.

Bob goes on to justify his attitude by saying that he has Blogged about people of color. Which hardly excuses what he wrote in his original Blog posting.

Let me also say this. It is not lost on me, that Bob is a Social Conservative, and quite possibly a Conservative Christian man. Which again, leads me to ask, why was he even watching a nasty video like that in the first place? I will admit, my “Conservatism” is more of a Fiscal one. The whole Conservative Christian/Evangelical Right nonsense, is just that; Nonsense.  Mainly because it is chalk full of hypocrisy. Sarah Palin, I am afraid; was a classic example of that.

Bob ends by saying:

Wow, insulted all because I am human. Obviously Bob did not read my “about me” section very closely at all, or he would have seen, that I have A.D.H.D. and sometimes, I make mistakes. As for spellcheck, that is a baseless accusation. I spell check everything, before I hit publish.

Wow, as of this screengrab, my posting of truth telling about Bob, Grabbed 24 hits. The one of me ripping on Liberals for mocking Sarah Palin, grabbed 247 hits……and you were saying Bob?

Look the point I was making here, is this. Bob’s tone toward that young white lady was quite condescending.  Had a White Conservative writer like me, written something even remotely in the tone that Bob did; and that person would have been black.  I would have raked over the coals from one end of the political spectrum to the other. That is because there is a horrific double standard in this country. It saddens me, that Bob here, is a part of that double standard. But yet, he is a Conservative. That is, if you actually believe that.

Bob Parks is an racist asshole

That’s right, I said it; and I am damn proud of it too.

This guy, Bob Parks, who runs a Blog called Black and Right, (Chuckle Snicker Grin) is, as far as I am concerned, a racist.

Here are the reasons I feel this way:

  1. I am sure you have heard about Alexis Cohen, the American Idol contestant, who was killed in a hit and run. Thankfully, her killer was found and arrested. Well, Mr. Parks, in his snobbish style, called this young lady “Troubled” and went out of his way to mock her on his Blog. My question is, would have worded this article in this fashion; if this young lady were black? It is to truly wonder.
  2. Another fine example of Bob Park’s Black Bigotry against white people is a posting called “Return of the Retard.” A posting about a Bill in the house that contained some offensive language. That I personally, as the Nephew of a Developmentally disabled Aunt, would personally find offensive myself. In this posting; naturally a picture of a White mentally retarded Child is used. Why would Bob Parks use a picture of a mentally retarded White baby, as the picture is called? You decide.

There are a few more, but those are the two that really stuck out to me. Why else would Mr. Parks word things like he does? Why else would he use a picture of a white retarded child? Instead of maybe a black retarded child. Because he is a black racist bigot.

Which further fuels my belief, that blacks cannot be true blue Conservatives. Because of their inherent hatred of the White race, due to the sins of our fore-fathers years ago. It is just not in their DNA. Bob Parks might fool some, with his slick talk and masterful use of smoke and mirrors; but this White American Conservative is not fooled At all. Update: After some serious reflection; I have lined this part out. I made a fatal mistake, I did something rather idiotic and stupid; something that I abhor more than identity politics; and that is making blanket statements. I apologize for this. While I do have my serious doubts about African-Americans and their ability to actually be Conservatives. It would be abjectly foolish of me to say that I, in fact, know that they cannot be, because I just cannot know everyone’s heart. My apologies to those that may have thought I was being overly cynical. I readily confess to being a rabid cynic, but that does not excuse an horrific error in judgment. Again, my apologies. 🙁

A video has surfaced on YouTube of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. delivering a church speech in which he uses the N-word, rails against “racist historically white institutions in America” and accuses Newt Gingrich of attempting to block blacks from entering the middle class.

Gates became a lightning rod of racial controversy when President Obama defended the professor handcuffed in his home last week by police in Cambridge, Mass.

“We are trying to end what we call the one n-gger syndrome – you know, this place ain’t big enough for more than one of us,” said Gates in the video, which was filmed in 1999 in the All Souls Church in Washington, D.C.
