Lieberman keeps his promise

It seems that Senator Joe Lieberman is keeping his promise to vote against the current Healthcare reform bill, in its present form. Susan Mandrak over at Crooks and Liars calls Lieberman a “spiteful little toad” and to be quite honest with you, she is not that far way from the truth. Joe Lieberman, I believe anyhow, is doing all of obstruction for one reason and one reason alone — To get back at the Democratic Party for his tossing overboard by the Democratic Caucus in 2006. For all of his bluster about loving America and for wanting to save America for the huge debt that we going incur from this disastrous bill by Lieberman, I believe that it is nothing more than political retribution.

The truth is about this healthcare bill by Harry Reid is that it is nothing more than a disaster. Even the party leaders themselves do not even know what it is this bill. So, how are they going to vote on it? In fact, the White House is now saying to Reid to cut a deal with Lieberman, which may in fact happen. But then again, if Lieberman says no deal and some of the more moderate Democrats do not play along, this bill could be, in fact, dead in the water. This, from my political standpoint would be a good thing.

Reading the round up of the political blogs, it seems that the far left and even the no so far left, wants Lieberman’s head on the platter. It does look like Joe is going to be the “sacrificial Jew” for the good of America, which could get him elected in the 2010 elections or whenever Lieberman is supposed to run again. Needless to say, this story far from over, and it should be interesting to follow.

Updated: What? Was it something I said? – Part II

Continuing from my previous posting about the hate mailing and hateful comments that I am getting, in response to my take down of the libertarian leftists who hate this Country with a passion.

I’ll my points few because your “article” DESERVES to stand on its own as an example of the willingness and ease with which your average American plebe can be brainwashed. By the way, I noticed that elsewhere you insulted a correspondent for misspellings and poor grammar. You might note that “saying your piece” is the appropriate way of saying your “peace”. Also, though I am normally a fan of the semi-colon, your use of it above is unnecessary as a comma would suffice. Given that, I’m impressed that you left the apostrophe out of “its”!

You’ve surely objected to my implication of you as being less than bright, so I’ll give you a little thought puzzle rather than assume you’re incapable of figuring this out for yourself:

Perhaps you should read one (nice to note that via your capitalizations, you apparently place this “Country” and our “Nation’s” “Military” on equal terms with Christ. Straight from the bible belt. Oh boy! I just noticed another of your headlines, which includes the classic, unintentionally ironic no doubt, phrase: “classless assholes”. I’m inclined to include you as a daily read at this point to pass your posts around as my laugh of the day!

You have an incredibly ill-informed view of American history, if you think that Lew Rockwell and the like are anti-war because Liberals have infiltraded their ranks. Unfortunately, you are not informed enough historically to have any understanding of which facet of liberalism you are talking about.
Up until nearly World War I, Liberal was limited government. Progressivism in that day said that a government cannot dictate anything you do in your own home that does not infringe on the rights of someone else. This also went for foreign affairs, and was the reason we delayed so long entering WWI and were not abroad starting it like we would be today. In this case, you are right, this is the Liberal ideology that is where Lew Rockwell is coming from. Unfortunately, how many living sources are there of that generation who could have possibly made the switch? Someone alive at the onset of the War and able to have a direct link to the ideology would have to be about 110 years old, right?
Moving forward to the 1960’s, and where the nation as we knew it changed. This is where the nation changed, and the political ideologies unified on political lines. This is where Liberalism started to become Neoconservatism, and Liberalism. People liken this movement to the “Make Love, Not War” movement. This is true, for the Liberals. But out of that movement came a majority contentment in the nation with “spreading Democracy around the world.” This is the ideology of Clinton, both Bushes, Obama, Carter, and on down the line. The differences between Liberals and Neoconservatives lie in the issues of government’s role in abortion and gay rights more than anything, and every where else in the issues of spending and Egalitarianism are one in the same.
Clinton used the ideas of Collectivism to decide that everyone should be able to get a home loan, and look at the mess collectivism has created. Bush decided that No Child should be left behind, and look at the mess collectivism has created. Now we have Obama, who is a full-fledged facist, and look where we are heading.
Big government, big war, and the idea that we can go around the world and modernize “primitave or tribal societies” is very depressing. The ideology goes back to the 1960’s, where we started looking to the government as opposed to our church or ourselves to define what a marriage is. It goes back to the same generation where the federal government stole abortion legalization from the states where Constitutional authority lies. The education system the same, the Federal Department of Education that the Republicans used to oppose.
I was offended at first reading your post, but now I realize how dumb you truly are. You sit back and see Lew Rockwell (or someone like myself) as being closer to today’s Fascist Liberal party more than you do George Bush and the current Republican party.
And then you say to go back and look at the Constitution, which is the epidome of irony. Considering that the founders granted power to Congress to declare and fund a war, and the President the power to execute the war within the confines granted them, the point was to require that there be so much consensus in going to war that we would seldom do so. You are not a champion of limited government or Democracy, you are a champion of centralized authority and a puppet Congress that does what the King wants. You are not in favor of the founders, you are so far from the point of the founders’ Declaration of Independence from British authority that you have joined the other side.
You chastize the Obama’s of the world for being Communists or Fascists or even a Dictator, yet you defend the decisions of the Repubcican executive branches that exude those descriptors the most.
Now I realize you are just uninformed. You read articles, and you write down something on your blog that you think Sean Hannity would have you write, and yet do not realize how unintelligent Sean Hannity is.
Just because you know what is in the news, does not make you informed enough to put it in the write scope.

I was saddened to read your post about Rockwell. I had not planned to respond until I read your profile and noticed that we, apparently, share a common age. As such, I thought it may be instructive to engage you in letter to better understand your opinions on these important issues. You said in your post, “the libertarian movement has been infiltrated by Anti-War leftists who hate America, our Military and…” I wonder if this is truly an accurate description of the situation. Rockwell, et. al., has always been against state aggression, war being just an example of same, regardless of the “party” currently occupying the WH. I also recall that during the Clinton years, there was a strong sentiment on the right to resist pie in the sky military adventures. Church building, school construction, humanitarian with a gun nonsense…just to name a few. Are you sure that your comments reflect the important political nuances of this life and death issue?  Further, how do you square your view of the situation with such “right wing” luminaries as Robert Nisbet & Russell Kirk?
I must also take issue with your description of affairs vis-a-vis Islamic extremism. To quote your post, “Not to mention the fact that on September 11, 2001, our Country was attacked by Islamic terrorists…” That just is not a helpful understanding of the problem. The US had been negotiating with the Taliban for years; even, under Clinton, encouraging same in their transition to power.  The Bush administrations continued these talks, with renewed vigor, until the summer of 2001 whence these discussions broke off abruptly in Germany. Further, Islamic radicalism proper has long been nurtured, if a bit nervously, as part of our former cold war policy.  Even after the fall of the Soviet Union, a number of these same Mujhe Hadeen types were apparently used by US authorities during the Kosovo boondoggle.  They, as in the ‘80’s, were funneled through the Consulate in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.
I am truly exasperated by your apparent understanding of Christianity and the State.  Towards the end of the second paragraph you said, “How anyone can harbor such hatred for this Country and our Nation’s Military and still claim to be ANY kind of a Christian is beyond me.”  I am at a bit of a loss to understand this view point.  Please define for me the word “country”.  That may help me a bit.
In closing, you made a passing mention of the Iraq war and the evolution of your thought concerning same.  You stated that you now unequivocally support this operation.  This is an example of what we “libertarians” (I hate to use that word) find so frustrating in the popular Conservative paradigm.  The Iraq war was marketed explicitly in modern liberal terms.  The flag bearers of this adventure are self described “Wilsonians” who are, almost to a man, first generation descendents of the Trotsky wing of the left/Democratic party.  And you call us liberal?  Again, what about Nisbet and Kirk just to name a few??
I thank you for your time and hope that this engagement will allow both of us to understand how we see these important problems. Let us look at the issue square, we are both freedom loving individuals concerned, perhaps in differing ways, about the enormous problems before our country.  We are facing, with some luck, a one term President and must find ways to build at least some governing consensus if we are to right this sinking ship.  I don’t question your motives; I do question the breadth of the political spectrum that shapes your analysis.  Have a good day.

Hi Patrick, this is the first time I’ve been on your site but I thought I would send you a comment. I was linked to your site from Lewrockwell.com in regard to the post by Lawrence Vance.

Anyway, as I read his post I too was overcome with strong emotions to it as it was a pretty powerful image by itself, let alone with the addition of his headline. I was interested to see what your response to the image was, so I made my way here and read your post.

I was quite interested in your statement about Christians as I would consider myself to be one. That being said, I am interested how you have come to the conclusion that one cannot be both Christian and at the same time, not like things about your country/the things it’s military does?

I’m not emailing to berate you by any means, I was just curious in your reasoning as I am fairly young myself and am always looking for new information on topics I don’t have fully worked out in my own thinking.

Updated: Why I left the libertarian ranks: Exhibit A – Hatred of the United States Military

The following picture and caption that I am about to show you, comes from the libertarian leftist blogger Lew Rockwell. I present this personal exhibit as to why I left the Paleo-Conservative/libertarian ranks in favor of the Conservative, Pro-military ranks:

I present this as “Exhibit A”, to the fact that the libertarian movement has been infiltrated by Anti-War leftists who hate America, our Military and why they should be stripped of their citizenship and deported out of our fine Country and into another country; like say, North Korea, Venezuela or maybe even Communist China. Not to be rude about this, but it just so happens, that if that dumb kids fellow Countrymen had not giving refuge and comfort to those who would seek to destroy America — Namely Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda; the damned kid would still possibly have his damned leg. Not to mention the fact that on September 11, 2001, our Country was attacked by Islamic terrorists who did more than just destroy a leg. It killed 2,996 of our people.

However, of course, you cannot tell this to the likes of Lew Rockwell and his bastard gang of leftists who hate this damn Country; they still believe that George W. Bush ordered those planes into the trade center towers. What really troubles me, is that the author of this posting is none other than Dr. Lawrence Vance, who is supposedly a Born-Again Christian. How anyone can harbor such hatred for this Country and our Nation’s Military and still claim to be ANY kind of a Christian is beyond me.

When I still was on the left; as little as that was, in terms of what I believed the Democratic Party to be about, I was always under the impression that Iraq was the war that was very unjustified and that Afghanistan was in fact, the good war that we were fighting to kill or capture Osama Bin Laden. I heard that from the left and I believed that myself. As it turns out, that was nothing more than a damned lie and the far-left knows it. The good majority of the far left either believes that George W. Bush ordered the attacks, to win his popularity or to justify going into Iraq. The rest believe that we had it coming or deserved the attacks because of our evil capitalistic society. This picture and caption are living proof of this; which is why, I left the liberal left and stopped voting for the Democratic Party.

Just to let everyone know, I said my piece on this and I am not interested in debating it. Therefore, I am shutting the comments off; because I want this posting to stand on its own.

Update:  After reading this entry again, I realize that I did leave out one important thing. My apologies for that, I do sometimes forget to include stuff pertinent to the entry at times; A.D.H.D. does that to a fellow. Yes, I am serious about having that little disability. Anyhow, the thing I forgot to include in this little shoving of the hatred of the libertarian leftists, into their faces, is the following:

There is one unifying cause that the libertarian leftists and the socialist liberal left is their inbred hatred of war and of anything military. Further more, the libertarians and liberals hate the current state of the Government, albeit for very different reasons. The libertarians hate the size of the Government and the fact that it has become too large, and too regulatory — Which is something I can identify with myself. The socialist left, however, is angry because they cannot control that large Government. The Socialist left does not mind big Government, as long as they can control it. A perfect example of this can be found here.

So, again, the reason why I lump the libertarian leftists in with the socialist is this, not because they are one in the same, they are not, even I know this. However, it is because the libertarian leftists are totally “In bed” with the anti-war socialist leftists who resent any sort of American values or capitalism or defense of the Republic. This has been proven many times with the vile acts at the Military recruiting office in Berkley California and such matters. Same goes for the Paleo-Conservatives, They too are “in bed” with the socialist left, when it comes to foreign policy. It has been that way for years and will continue to be that way. The difference between a Paleo-Conservative and a libertarian is one thing —protectionism. This is what the Democratic Party believed in, before globalists like Bill Clinton came on the scene and passed NAFTA. It should be noted, however, that the NAFTA agreement did not pass until the Republicans took back the Congress, and Clinton became an instant moderate.

Nevertheless, my feelings toward these libertarian leftists, their Paleo-Conservative counterparts, and their cousins the Anti-War socialist left remain unabated.

Blog Milestone: 4000 Blog Entries

I know this might sound silly to some of you. However, I do like to celebrate small milestones. Sometime in the last few days, this blog passed a rather remarkable milestone. Since this blogs original creation back on the last week of December of 2007, I have posted over 4000 blog entries. When this posting goes live, I will have officially created 4010 entries on this blog. Some may think that this meaningless; however, for a single author blog, who is doing it daily, that is quite a bit.

I do have to thank all of you for your daily readership. This blog, in the last few months has really taken off. Along the way, I have attracted some criticism; some possibly well deserved, the majority of it comes from people who simply disagree with my political stance. A very small percentage of it comes from hatemongering asses that have nothing better to do than attack someone like me, who is in my position, which is quite humorous, because I hear from a very good source that this said person who attacked me, and made some very nasty statements about me, has lost readership over it. One of which in fact, e-mailed me and said he was never reading that blog again and made a rather large and quite handsome donation to my blog. Speaking of which, if you feel so inclined you can donate to my Blog. I am not a proud man at all, I will accept any and all donations to my blog. However, do not feel like it is a requirement or anything like that, times are tough and I will not hold it over anyone’s head or anything like that. However, I will usually follow up with personal e-mail thanking those who do donate to me.

Again, thanks for your ever-loyal readership and let us try for other 4000 or so blog posts, shall we?

Two News Items from the 'Hmmmmm' Stack

First this one here:

My friend, the wonderful sf writer Peter Watts was beaten without provocation and arrested by US border guards on Tuesday. I heard about it early Wednesday morning in London and called Cindy Cohn, the legal director of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. She worked her contacts to get in touch with civil rights lawyers in Michigan, and we mobilized with Caitlin Sweet (Peter’s partner) and David Nickle (Peter’s friend) and Peter was arraigned and bailed out later that day.

But now Peter faces a felony rap for “assaulting a federal officer” (Peter and the witness in the car say he didn’t do a thing, and I believe them). Defending this charge will cost a fortune, and an inadequate defense could cost Peter his home, his livelihood and his liberty.

Peter’s friends are raising money for his legal defense. I just sent him CAD$1,000, because this is absolutely my biggest nightmare: imprisoned in a foreign country for a trumped-up offense against untouchable border cops. I am not sure why, but something is fishy about the man’s story. The truth of the matter is, when a border officer tells you to do something; you are supposed to do it and not ask questions. I hate to say it. But this sounds like one of those stories that is common among the libertarians; where a border agent tells the person to do something, and they keep giving agent shit, until they finally have to use force to get the person to do what they are told. Here is a perfect example.  I might catch hell for saying this; but I think this guy got what was coming to him for being stupid enough to not comply with the border agent’s commands.

Also, from the stack. A story from the far right online publication WorldNetDaily:

An international human rights organization today announced it will pursue a civil lawsuit on behalf of parents who want to control their children’s education and withhold them from explicit sex education and play-acting classes required by the German government.

Joel Thornton of the International Human Rights Group told WND the government in Salzkotten, Germany, is sending the fathers of the children to jail for terms of one week because they have refused to turn their children over to school officials for mandated sex classes.

According to a report from Richard Guenther, European director for the IHRG, eight families of Christians have decided to withhold their children from required sex education classes in Salzkotten.

Sex education classes in Germany are explicit, and the issue is one of the major reasons why families – and not just Christian families – choose to homeschool their children even though the government has maintained its illegality since the days of Hitler.

As much as I would like to dismiss this a far right propaganda; I cannot. I have been following the stories about Germany’s treatment of people who choose to home school their kids, and quite frankly, some of the stuff that I have read is downright frightening.
