Going Rogue: An American Life

by Sarah Palin

Chapter Four; Section 8, pages 255-257

Books PalinBy the third week in September, a “Free Sarah” campaign was under way and the press at large was growing increasingly critical of the McCain camp’s decision to keep me, my family and friends back home, and my governor’s staff all bottled up. Meanwhile, the question of which news outlet would land the first interview was a big deal, as it always is with a major party candidate.

From the beginning, Nicolle [Wallace] pushed for Katie Couric and the CBS Evening News. The campaign’s general strategy involved coming out with a network anchor, someone they felt had treated John well on the trail thus far. My suggestion was that we be consistent with that strategy and start talking to outlets like FOX and the Wall Street Journal. I really didn’t have a say in which press I was going to talk to, but for some reason Nicolle seemed compelled to get me on the Katie bandwagon.

“Katie really likes you,” she said to me one day. “she’s a working mom and admires you as a working mom. She has teenage daughter like you. She just relates to you,” Nicolle said. “believe me, I know her very well. I’ve worked with her.” Nicolle had left her gig at CBS just a few months earlier to hook up with the McCain campaign. I had to trust her experience, as she had dealt with national politics more than I had. But something always struck me as peculiar about the way she recalled her days in the White House, when she was speaking on behalf of President George W. Bush. She didn't have much to say that was positive about her former boss or the job in general. Whenever I wanted to give a shout-out to the White House’s homeland security efforts after 9/11, we were told we couldn’t do it. I didn’t know if that was Nicolle’s call.

Nicolle went on to explain that Katie really needed a career boost. “She just has such low self-esteem,” Nicolle said. She added that Katie was going through a tough time. “She just feels she can’t trust anybody.”

I was thinking, And this has to do with John McCain’s campaign how?

Nicolle said. “She wants you to like her.”

Hearing all that, I almost started to feel sorry for her. Katie had tried to make a bold move from lively morning gal to serious anchor, but the new assignment wasn’t going very well.

“You know what? We’ll schedule a segment with her,” Nicolle said. “If it doesn’t go well, if there’s no chemistry, we won’t do any others.”

Meanwhile, the media blackout continued. It got so bad that a couple of times I had a friend in Anchorage track down phone numbers for me, and then I snuck in calls to folks like Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and someone I thought was Larry Kudlow but turned out to be Neil Cavuto’s producer. I had a friend call Bill O’Reilly after I was inundated with supporters in Alaska asking why the campaign was “ignoring” his on-air requests for a McCain campaign interview. I had another friend scrambling to find Mark Levin’s number. Aboard the campaign plane I was within twenty-five feet of reporters for hours on end. Headquarters’ strategy was that I should not go to the back of the aircraft and talk to the press. At first this was subtle, but as the campaign wore on, Tracey or Tucker would call headquarters to request permission, and someone in DC would respond, “No! Absolutely not- block her if she tries to go back.”

via DRUDGE REPORT: GOING ROGUE, SARAH PALIN.

A quite interesting story indeed. Sounds to me like that this Nichole Wallace was a liberal plant in John McCain’s campaign for the sole purpose of putting the “Deep Six” on John McCain Campaign. Now the really funny part is that Ann Althouse says that Sarah Palin is “dumb,” that sounds like nothing more than petty jealousy. I thought Ann was better than that, but then again, I never though Ann would vote for Barack Obama either —- Now, who’s dumb sweetie? I think the answer is quite clear here. What more can be expected from a woman, who, in all honesty, Fellatio’ed her way to the place that she is now?

(Please note: I removed the video here, as it was auto-starting and driving me crazy!)

By the way, You can get Sarah’s new book here too:

Update: It seems that The Other McCain, Ace of Spades and Conservatives for Palin agree with me. 😀

Opportunistic Bovine Tripe

I think I have seen it all now…:

We know absolutely no one in Bush family circles and have never met former President George W. Bush or his wife Laura.

If you have been reading us for any length of time, you know that we used to make fun of “Dubya” nearly every day…parroting the same comedic bits we heard in our Democrat circles, where Bush is still, to this day, lampooned as a chimp, a bumbling idiot, and a poor, clumsy public speaker.

Oh, how we RAILED against Bush in 2000…and how we RAILED against the surge in support Bush received post-9/11 when he went to Ground Zero and stood there with his bullhorn in the ruins on that hideous day.

We were convinced that ANYONE who was president would have done what Bush did, and would have set that right tone of leadership in the wake of that disaster. President Gore, President Perot, President Nader, you name it. ANYONE, we assumed, would have filled that role perfectly.

Well, we told you before how much the current president, Dr. Utopia, made us realize just how wrong we were about Bush. We shudder to think what Dr. Utopia would have done post-9/11. He would have not gone there with a bullhorn and struck that right tone. More likely than not, he would have been his usual fey, apologetic self and waxed professorially about how evil America is and how justified Muslims are for attacking us, with a sidebar on how good the attacks were because they would humble us.

Honestly, we don’t think President Gore would have been much better that day. The world needed George W. Bush, his bullhorn, and his indominable spirit that day…and we will forever be grateful to this man for that.

via Thank you former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush « HillBuzz.

It is a very interesting read; It all sounds nice and pretty — that is until you hear the reality of it. If you think for one minute that the people that wrote the above and what is over at that link are really sincere about that; I have land to sell you for extremely cheap in Texas —- in a swamp. The only motivation for this idiotic bunch of Bovine Tripe that was written here is the following; their allegiance to Hillary Clinton.  HillBuzz is simply a group of Homosexual Hillary Supporters; that are a still bitter because Barack Obama kicked Shillary’s fat ass in the 2008 Primary.

So, while it may sound nice, pretty and — dare I even say it? Patriotic. (Uh, Gag, Puke) It is simply a piece written to kick dirt in the face of Barack Obama for daring to defeat Hillary Clinton. So, please, do not buy the hype on this entry. Because if it would have been Hillary that won. These guys would be still trashing Bush. In other words; Nice try guys, but not all of us in the political blogging world are that dumb to believe that you actually now love Bush. 🙄

Video: Interview with Rupert Murdock

Whether you like this man or loathe him; it cannot be denied that he is making an impression in the media right now and is quite successful at it. This video comes via Reason Magazine’s Blog called Reason Hit and Run; Reason did an article in 2004 bashing Murock’s strangle hold on the media industry. Now whether that stranglehold is real or imagined is for others to judge. I have to honestly wonder aloud; is Reason magazine’s bashing of Rupert Murdoch a result of the editors blind jealousy of his success? It is a reasonable thing to ask, do you not think?

Anyhow, here is the interview done by Sky TV; which Rupert owns a small share of. Friendly media aspersions aside; the man is just a interesting person in general. I bet many could learn from this man; including liberals.

I suppose the real question everyone is asking is; will Rupert’s idea work?  The smart people say no; Rupert says yes. The real question is; who’s the bigger fool? That is the question of the ages.

Not everyone likes the "new" GOP

An interesting read here.

Money Quote:

For some reason it does not say that Eisenhower said that his appointment of liberal justices Warren and Brennan were his “two biggest mistakes.” According to Warren, Eisenhower told him prior to Brown, “These [Southerners] are not bad people. All they are concerned about is to see that their sweet little girls are not required to sit alongside some big overgrown Negroes.”

Opposing activist judges like the ones Eisenhower regrettably nominated continues to elect Republicans to this day. In fact “Courts”—unlike immigration or affirmative action—are one of the six defining issues for the Party on GOP.com.

How about Lincoln? Nowhere does GOP.com even mention that he saved the Union and won the Civil War—or for that matter that he believed he had, “no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and the black races.” Instead, his accomplishments are reduced to his support for the abolition of Slavery.

Save Ronald Reagan, the only heroic Republicans are ones who base their career solely on uplifting African Americans.

The new GOP.com also provides an extended timeline of the Republican Party’s greatest accomplishments. Below are every single of one of the Party’s pre-1960 actions:

Republicans Established the Transcontinental Railroad

Republicans Passed the Land-Grant College Act

The Highest Point in Washington, DC [This refers to the addition of the Freedom Statue atop the Capital, however, they somehow made this entry about the Emancipation of Slavery in DC]

The First Hispanic Governor was a Republican Republicans Freed the Slaves

Republicans Passed the 14th Amendment

Republicans Established the Buffalo Soldiers

Republicans Established Howard University
Memorial Day

Republicans Passed the 15th Amendment

Republican Opposition to Plessy v. Ferguson

The First African-American Senator was a Republican

Republicans Outlawed the Ku Klux Klan

Yellowstone National Park

Republicans Passed the 1875 Civil Rights Act

A Republican Wrote the 19th Amendment

A Former Slave Chaired the 1884 Republican National Convention

First Women Mayors in the United States

A Republican President Appointed the First Jewish Cabinet Secretary [Only true, if you exclude Confederate Secretary of State Judah P. Benjamin]

Republicans Passed the Indian Citizenship Act

The First Hispanic U.S. Senator was a Republican

The First Asian-American U.S. Senator was a Republican

The Republican Party First Called for Ending Racial Segregation in the Military

A Republican Integrated the University of Mississippi

A Republican Wrote the Brown v. Board of Education decision [Again, Earl Warren, the first Judicial Activist]

Republicans Established the Federal Highway System

Republicans Passed the 1957 Civil Rights Act

Republicans Ended Racial Segregation in Little Rock.

So, of the Republicans 28 greatest accomplishments during its first 100 years, only five do not involve helping women or minorities.

Trust Busting? Peaceful resolution of the Korean War? The Taft-Hartley Act—or for that matter, the 1924 Immigration Act? All are deemed unimportant.

Interestingly enough, just as none of the post-1960 Republican heroes are minorities, none of the nine post-1957 accomplishments of the GOP involved uplifting blacks?

What happened? Those evil Southern Democrats, whom the GOP.com derides, started voting for the GOP because they were fed up with the increasingly liberal Democrats. Beginning with the Dixiecrat walk out to support Strom Thurmond—who later became a Republican—in 1948, the South slowly left the Democrats and eventually voted en bloc for Goldwater, Nixon, Reagan, and Bush.

In fact, many major Southern Democratic politicians—starting with Thurmond but continuing on through Mills E. Godwin, Jesse Helms, Phil Graham, Richard Shelby, and Virgil Goode—switched parties.

If someone attended the Five Minutes University on postwar electoral politics, the lesson would be: “Southerners voted Democratic. Blacks voted Republican. They switched parties.”

If they spent a few more minutes, they’d learn that because Southerners and then working class ethnic whites who were upset with the left wing racial, feminist, and cultural policies left the Democratic Party, the New Deal Coalition that kept the GOP out of power for nearly forty years collapsed and the Republicans dominated politics from 1968 until the election of Obama.

In the process, the GOP became less attractive to minorities, while the Democrats became the party of Willie Horton and Jeremiah Wright.

I hate to say it; but he is right.

R.S. McCain has more.

Excellent Money Quote of the Month:

Having friends on both sides of the paleocon/neocon schism, I’m kind of an odd hawk-dove hybrid — a Zionist paleo? — and wish there were some sort of fusionist middle ground or, at least, that the two sides would stop anathematizing each other. Decades of this Manichean either/or game gets tiresome.

I could not have put that any better, if I tried.

I figure if I am going to get all this insane amount of traffic, I might as well steer it toward those who were kind to me, when I was a nobody idiot with an opinion. As opposed to being a somewhat well-known idiot with an opinion. NTTAWWT.

Uh, These people do not speak for me!

Never thought I’d be doing this, as a Conservative Blogger…..

But hats off to Amanda Terkel over at think progress for reporting on this:

Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church is a hate group that goes around the country staging anti-gay rallies at some of the most inappropriate places (e.g. the funerals of former White House press secretary Tony Snow, victims of the Minneapolis bridge collapse, and U.S. troops) with messages like “Thank God For AIDS” and “God Hates Fags.”

This week, they’re bringing their hateful message to children in Washington, DC, planning pickets at a handful of local schools. This morning, they showed up outside of Sidwell Friends, the school that Sasha and Malia Obama attend.

I just want to say; as a Christian, as a Baptist; albeit not a very good one, but I digress — that these hate-mongering bastards DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME or ANY OTHER BAPTISTS THAT I KNOW!

One of the horrific parts of our first amendment is that it protects people like this and the idiots that I posted a video about earlier. Believe me, as a Conservative, the last thing I ever would want to do is take anyone’s rights to free speech away. But, this stuff right here grinds me to my core. Because the casual person thinks that ALL Christians and Baptists think this way; and I tell you it is not true at all. The truth is, Fred Phelps is addicted to HATE, his own estranged son said this.

The truth is, that all sane rational Christians who are not ate up with Hate or otherwise; believe that God Hates Sin, but loves the sinner. That is the mainstream Christian belief and has been since the days of apostles. These so-called “Baptist Christians” use an Christian belief system called “Calvinism” and a belief system called “Absolute Predestination” to justify their actions. Which is, of course, wrong. Not all Calvinists accept that belief system, further more most Calvinists believe that Fred Phelps and Crew; are nucking futs!

Anyhow, just my two cents…..
