Obama to Conyers: Stop Demeaning Me!

The phone rings, it is the President wanting to know why a senator has been demeaning him in the media. The President is calling a firebrand Republican Senator, it must be, correct? Well, no. actually, President Obama was calling one of his own — Democrats, I mean —- you did not think that I meant THAT did you?!?!?!?! Anyhow:

President Barack Obama recently called Rep. John Conyers Jr. to express his frustrations with the Judiciary Committee chairman’s criticism.
In an interview with The Hill, Conyers said his opinions of Obama’s policies on healthcare reform and the war in Afghanistan have not sat well with the president.
According to the lawmaker, the president picked up the phone several weeks ago to find out why Conyers was “demeaning” him.
Obama’s decision to challenge Conyers highlights a sensitivity to criticism the president has taken on the left. Conyers’s critical remarks, many of which have been reported on the liberal-leaning Huffington Post, appear to have irritated the president, known for his calm demeanor.
Conyers, the second-longest-serving member of the House, said, “[Obama] called me and told me that he heard that I was demeaning him and I had to explain to him that it wasn’t anything personal, it was an honest difference on the issues. And he said, ‘Well, let’s talk about it.’”
Sitting in the Judiciary Committee’s conference room two days after Obama delivered his speech on Afghanistan, the 23-term lawmaker said he wasn’t in the mood to “chat.”
Obama’s move to send in 30,000 troops to Afghanistan by the summer of 2010 has clearly disappointed Conyers.
He said he intends to press his case in writing soon.

I will give John Conyers credit on one thing. He is not shy about speaking his mind. Neither is his wife. This is the husband of the woman, who went toe to toe with another member of the Detroit City Council. When I say went toe to toe; I am not overstating the truth one bit — Because that little confrontation got ugly —VERY ugly. It got ugly almost to the point of the police being called. There were no punches thrown, but there was a whole bunch of hollering. This very much made me pity and respect Mr. Conyers on a completely new level. Any man that can live with a woman with that shrill of a voice and not beat the tar out of her within minutes has definitely earned my respect.

Second, as the article says, Obama seems to be a bit touchy, or as it says, sensitive about critics from the left. Oh, he just ignores us on the right, seeing we are crazy and all. If you believe that, I have got land in a Texas swamp to sell you for cheap. Let me tell you something, the President is no dummy, because if he was, he would not be in the White House and I would be running the Country. The President knows about that little thing called political capital and the President is well aware that he is burning through that capital, quicker than a Chicago minute. The President also knows that he needs to finish the job that Bush started in Afghanistan, otherwise people like me, and other Conservatives will never let him live it down. The last thing he wants to do, is pull a Vietnam bonehead move and pull us out, at least before we give a good collage try to finishing that war over there.

This story of Democrat vs. Democrat when it comes to the war is going to play out in a very interesting manner. Where it puts Obama is going to be interesting to watch as well.

Thoughts & Prayers needed for my Dad

As some of you might know that read this blog regularly might know; I do live with my Parents. That, in itself is a very long story. Anyhow, My Father will be going into the hospital tomorrow morning at around 8:00 a.m. or so, to have a very important heart procedure done. They are going to run a dye into his bloodstream to check and see if there is any blockage and if there is, they will be putting stints in. There is, although not probable, a slight chance that my Dad could need open-heart surgery while they are in there doing that work. Therefore, needless to say, I will be quite occupied for the next few days. There is good news however; I will be taking the laptop to the hospital with me; as so, I do not go crazy with boredom in the hospital.

Everyone that knows me well will tell you; that I hate hospitals with a passion. I do tend to avoid them as much as humanly possible. However, this little trip is highly important to me. Therefore, I will be joining my Dad up at the hospital for a good part of the day. I am not sure how long it will take. I am told a good part of the day.

So, I am asking for everyone who either reads this blog daily or even does the occasional drive-by. Please keep my Dad in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow — and for the rest of the week. Also, keep my Mother in your prayers as this all is really making her worry and she is not in the greatest of health either.

Pistol Blows up in Deputy's Hand

Oh man, this has to suck… 😯 😮

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. — At first glance, the Glock 21 Marshall County Chief Deputy Kevin Cecil was handling looked like any other gun. But he pointed out there was no trigger, the gun was cracked and the small metal pins were missing.
“The firearm that one of our officers was using exploded on him,” Cecil said.
Cecil said a Marshall County officer was shooting at the range Tuesday morning when his service weapon literally blew up in his hand during a round of fire.
“The weapon went to the ground, the range officers were yelling for cease-fires,” he said.
Cecil says it was the first time the .45-caliber pistol had ever been used.
“All that energy blew out on the top of his hand. And that’s where his injuries are,” Cecil said.
The deputy is now recovering at home. He’s still undergoing testing to find out the severity of his injuries.
The chief believes bad ammunition caused this bizarre accident, but he’s looking into it further.

STROUD, Okla. — A man was shot and killed as he broke into a Lincoln County woman’s home, deputies said.
Billy Dean Riley, 53, of Sparks, was drunk and high on some type of opiate at the time of his death on Friday, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies said Riley crashed a vehicle near the home of Donna Jackson, 57, between 12:30 and 12:50 a.m. Friday. Riley went to the back door of Jackson’s home nearby and started to break in.
Jackson told authorities that she picked up a shotgun and called 911.
“There’s a man at my back door. He’s trying to get in,” she said to the dispatcher. “He’s close to the door. I’m going to go ahead and get the gun out.”
“She told him that she was armed and that she had called the police and that he needed to leave,” said Lincoln County Sheriff Chuck Mangion.
In return, deputies said, Riley started screaming vulgarities at the homeowner. He picked up a patio table and threw it through Jackson’s glass patio door.
The dispatcher told Jackson that she was advised to defend her property if she needed to.
Jackson said she fired one shot into Riley’s chest when he started to enter the home.
“I shot. I shot. I’m going out front. I hit him,” she told the dispatcher. “Please, dear God. I think I’ve killed him. Please father in heaven, please father in heaven.”
She cried, expressing concern for Riley and his family.

Riley was pronounced dead by a medical examiner at about 1:50 a.m.

The real great part is this:

Deputies said Jackson is likely to be covered under Oklahoma’s “stand your ground” laws, but the case is still under investigation.

As she should be, my heart goes out to this dear lady who had to make a decision like that; it was truly her or him; and she chose to protect her own life. Thank God for the Gun rights that we as American citizens do have. Something that the liberals in the country want to take away.

Ron Paul on Auditing the Federal Reserve

I post this because I happen to agree with Ron Paul position on economics; as well as Lew Rockwell’s. Around the end of the video clip, Ron Paul gets on the subject of Afghanistan and he proceeds to promote the idea of isolationism — which I think is remarkably stupid. However, I should point out, that it is the classic position of the Libertarian Party.

The funny crack comes at the 1:15 mark.

This clip proves my belief that the libertarian left is in bed with the socialist liberal left; this is something that I have believed for a long time.

Copenhagen’s city council in conjunction with Lord Mayor Ritt Bjerregaard sent postcards out to 160 Copenhagen hotels urging COP15 guests and delegates to “be sustainable – don’t buy sex”.
“Dear hotel owner, we would like to urge you not to arrange contacts between hotel guests and prostitutes,” the approach to hotels says.
Now, Copenhagen prostitutes are up in arms, saying that the council has no business meddling in their affairs. They have now offered free sex to anyone who can produce one of the offending postcards and their COP15 identity card, according to the Web site avisen.dk.

Far be it from me to be the one to praise a liberal; but sometimes, it is due. Matthew realized what he has said and the possible implications for it and quickly corrected himself. Honestly? I do not think he meant any sort of malice, it was just a way of putting something; but a way that someone could possibly get offended at. So, he fixed it and good on him for doing so.

On the President's Speech

Okay, I finally am able to get around to writing about the speech and announcement gave by the President on the new troop levels in Afghanistan. First off, in the interest of full disclosure; I did not listen to the entire speech. I was doing something else and realized the speech was on and I turned it on, when the President was giving his speech. I heard over half of the speech; but I heard enough to tell you what I think about it, without in partisan spin or Republican talking points.

First off, it seemed to me that the President was selling the idea of the additional troops to the left. Barring the standard talking points of the far right and of the Fox News/Sean Hannity crowd; that there was not enough of them, that he was dithering and so forth, I really did not have an issue with what was being proposed. My feeling is this — We will simply have to wait and see. Iraq was cut and dry, Afghanistan is very different horse of a different color. There are more issues at hand and I suspect that this mission is going to be a bit more difficult. There are some on the right, which think we should just roll up, pull out, and not make the same mistake as Russia made in that area back in the 1980’s. That way, when the Taliban takes back over and Al-Qaeda hits America again, the Republican Party will be able to blame the Democrats; thereby destroying their credibility. Personally, I believe that is a sick mentality, but there are those on the right that feel that way, I know, I have read the comments sections of their blogs.

As for the people of Afghanistan; they were less then impressed by the bluster of the President:

Thirty thousand more U.S. troops for Afghanistan? Esmatullah only shrugged.
“Even if they bring the whole of America, they won’t be able to stabilize Afghanistan,” said the young construction worker out on a Kabul street corner on Wednesday morning. “Only Afghans understand our traditions, geography and way of life.”

Shopkeeper Ahmad Fawad, 25, said it would not help.
“The troops will be stationed in populated areas where the Taliban will somehow infiltrate and then may attack the troops,” he said. “Instead of pouring in more soldiers, they need to focus on equipping and raising Afghan forces, which is cheap and easy.”
For many, the prospect of more troops meant one thing: more civilian deaths.
“More troops will mean more targets for the Taliban and the troops are bound to fight, and fighting certainly will cause civilian casualties,” Ahmad Shah Ahmadzai, a former Afghan prime minister, told Reuters.
“The civilian casualties will be further a blow to the U.S. image and cause more indignation among Afghans.”

“It was a very wonderful speech for America … but when it comes to strategy in Afghanistan there was nothing really new which was disappointing,” she told Reuters from her home.
“It seems to me that President Obama is very far away from the reality and truth in Afghanistan. His strategy was to pay lip-service, and did not focus on civilians, nation-building, democracy and human rights.”
Other Afghans, hardened by decades of war and wary of foreign forces whom have for years fought proxy battles in Afghanistan, were skeptical of the United States’ intentions.
Kabul money changer Ehsanullah wondered why U.S. forces had managed to find former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, but had yet to locate Al Qaeda head Osama bin Laden or Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar, who both fled U.S. troops in Afghanistan in 2001.
“This is part of America’s further occupation of Afghanistan,” he said. “America is using the issue of insecurity here in order to send more troops.”

There is no two ways about it; President Obama is got his work cut out for him for the next year. He does make a very decent salary as President. Do not be deceived to think that he will not be working for it. Because now the President is out of the frying pan and into the fire, this is where his job is going to get very interesting.

I just hope, for America’s sake, that the President knows what he is doing.

Why do Liberals Hate Alan Grayson because he is a Jew?

Once again, the so-called Moral Authority has a double standard moment:

Since defeating an incumbent in Florida’s Republican-heavy 8th congressional district last year, Rep. Alan Grayson has emerged as one of the progressive movement’s most vocal champions. His attacks on Republican obstruction of healthcare reform and staunch opposition to escalation in Afghanistan have earned Grayson effusive praise from many liberal bloggers and activists.
Even before his election, Grayson gained recognition from the Wall Street Journal for being a “fierce critic of the war in Iraq” who sported a “Bush Lied, People Died” bumper sticker on his car. Recently, Grayson to CNN, “People want to see a congressman with guts. And America likes to hear the truth.”
Grayson has battled for the public option and opposed the wars Obama has inherited from Bush. Of course, these positions are upheld by a broad swath of congressional Democrats and, at least in the case of the public option, are supported by a majority of Americans. But when it comes to the Israel-Palestine conflict, Grayson is fully programmed by AIPAC and the pro-war, pro-settlements wing of the Israel Lobby.

This is the same left that likes to decry people like Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul as Anti-Semites and Racist bigots. But you let one of their own happen to agree with the idea that Israel has a right to exist and that this homeland of the Jews deserves to be defended from outside threats and the Liberal’s standard changes rather quickly.

The double standard is stunning.

I’m sure a thousand people are digging up old news reports on Huckabee and Clemmons. And there will be a hundred stories in all the media tomorrow on Huckabs future in politics. Here’s the summary:
(1) Huckabee pardoned Clemmons because they had a mutual acquaintance, he labored at the governor's mansion under a prisoner work program, or a minister intervened on his behalf. No, I don’t actually know why he did it and Huckabee was notorious for refusing to give reasons for his pardons. These characteristics are what many of Huckabee’s pardons had in common.
(2) The possibility that Huckabee will run for president in 2012 has moved from “less than likely” (see sidebar) to “not a chance in hell.” Which, is just the way I like it. He always was just a Democrat with a Bible. His shameful campaign in Iowa ultimately gave us McCain last year. We no longer have to worry what Certain Fuckin’ Doomabee will bring us next time.

Everything that I have seen about Huckabee says that he was and still is a RHINO. Speaking of which, did anyone watch Huckabee’s show today? Did you happen to see the segment about the music that the soldiers listen to in Iraq and Afghanistan? Talk about some hardcore uncomfortable moments! Especially considering that Mr. Huckabee is supposedly a Christian and a Baptist.

The senseless and savage execution of police officers in Washington State has saddened the nation, and early reports indicate that a person of interest is a repeat offender who once lived in Arkansas and was wanted on outstanding warrants here and in Washington State. The murder of any individual is a profound tragedy, but the murder of a police officer is the worst of all murders in that it is an assault on every citizen and the laws we live within.
Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State. He was recommended for and received a commutation of his original sentence from 1990, this commutation made him parole eligible and he was then paroled by the parole board once they determined he met the conditions at that time. He was arrested later for parole violation and taken back to prison to serve his full term, but prosecutors dropped the charges that would have held him. It appears that he has continued to have a string of criminal and psychotic behavior but was not kept incarcerated by either state. This is a horrible and tragic event and if found and convicted the offender should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our thoughts and prayers are and should be with the families of those honorable, brave, and heroic police officers.

Yeah, Sure Mike pass the buck. You are done you fool, now get rid of the show and stage act and go back to being a private citizen. What an idiot, fail to take any responsibility for his actions. I would never vote for that man, ever. Lost any and all respect that I ever had for him. 😡 Which, quite frankly, was not much at all. Mike Huckabee is a fraud, a phony, plays this self-righteous Christian game; all the while having secular music on his show. So typical of the compromising Southern Baptists, of whom 90% are not even really Born-Again at all.
