9 Years Later

It was December 30, 2007 that I wrote this posting:

This Blog will be for the discussion of Politics and News. With Any luck, it will be successful.

via The start of something newā€¦ | Political Byline.

That above was the first entry on my new blog political byline; after my first one, The Populist was hacked, either by hackers in some foreign country or by neocons, who were pissed at me over something I had written. Ā Either way, I lost of years worth of work; due to some crappy hosting that I was really not even paying for. The hosting company folded, for what that is really worth.

2006 and 2007, feels now like an eternity ago. How things have changed! Bush is gone, Iraq is over; and now, it’s blew up again. Al-Qaeda is now taking a backseat to a group called ISIS; and they ain’t playing either! Obama has come and is about gone. The Tea Party rose, got exploited, and fizzled out. Ron Paul retired and now, his kid Rand is running for President. Hillary Clinton Ran, got defeated, by a black man and now, tomorrow is going to announce, again. New names: Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker. It is all rather strange.

When I started in 2006, social media was non-existent. Trackbacks were the lifeblood of blogging. New names: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Tumblr, StumbleUpon, Pinterest. Cell Phones or smartphones, as they’re called now; basically rule us. Before I got this silly Galaxy S4, the last phone I owned was a Sanyo (I think?!?!?!) flip phone —- Egad, remember those? Now, apps are a big part of my life; I have 8 screens of them on my phone! In the days before smartphones, the first thing I would do, when my eyes opened in the morning, was go take a leak; now, I check my phone.

In the old days, if something big happened, my Mom would IM me or I’d hear about it some other way. Now, if a big story breaks; my phone goes nuts with alerts. I do everything from set my alarm to wake up to timing hamburgers on the grill with this thing. I even usually call in my refills for prescriptions with this thing. I don’t even have to climb the stairs anymore, except to grab my daily three square meals or take a leak.

The funny thing is, the Galaxy S4 is old technology now. They have a Galaxy S5, S6 and S6 edge now. Jebus, can we slow down, just a little? I’m just getting comfortable with this phone and now, its old hat. šŸ™„

Andrew Sullivan calls it quits

This is mildly surprising.

One of the things Iā€™ve always tried to do at the Dish is to be up-front with readers. This sometimes means grotesque over-sharing; sometimes it means I write imprudent arguments I have to withdraw; sometimes it just means a monthly update on our revenues and subscriptions; and sometimes I stumble onto something actually interesting. But when you write every day for readers for years and years, as Iā€™ve done, thereā€™s not much left to hide. And thatā€™s why, before our annual auto-renewals, I want to let you know Iā€™ve decided to stop blogging in the near future.

via A Note To My Readers Ā« The Dish.

Sullivan has been blogging for a very long time, since before 9/11. 15 years. That is an eternity in online years. I can understand the reasoning:

Iā€™ve had increasing health challenges these past few years. Theyā€™re not HIV-related; my doctor tells me theyā€™re simply a result of fifteen years of daily, hourly, always-on-deadline stress. These past few weeks were particularly rough ā€“ and finally forced me to get real.

I can totally relate. Sitting on my butt and writing for 10 years, basically caused me to get type II diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I mean, it does run in my family; but sitting around and writing did not help any either.

I did not always agree with Sullivan, but I did think that he was a talented writer.I hate to see someone just walk away from the blogging scene. It causes the field to become more bare. I think lots of opinion is good; and Sullivan had a legit position — even if I did not agree with it.

I wish him and his partner the best.

So glad that I am an only child

This was my thought after reading these three postings over at Protein Wisdom, ran by Jeff Goldstein

Basically, Jeff’s brother is severely screwing his Mother, who is dying with cancer, over. I give Jeff credit, he is handling that little situation very well and with much restraint. Because if it was me; I would be going to florida, finding the nearest gun store, picking up a nice .357 and a box of shells.

My best to Jeff in getting that little situation straightened out.

Responding to stupidity

I rarely, if ever, engage in Blog wars anymore. Because quite frankly, I think they suck and they do nothing, but cause problems for all parties involved.

However, when I see that someone takes it upon themselves to make baseless accusations against me; I feel the need to correct the record. What I am referring to is some blowhole on a blogspot webblog took it upon himself to accuse me of being a lap dog of Rod Dreher’s. Now, had he taken the time to search my site and see that I have disagreed with Rod Dreher in the past on this blog and my previous one; he would see that I am not a lap dog of anyone at all. But, no, this clueless blowhole, who is obviously an insecure person, who is trying to make a name for himself, by tossing rocks at blogs, like mine.

Now, whether this guy is jewish or neocon or both, I really cannot tell and honestly, I could really care less. Although, from what I read over at that blog, namely about myself. He sure is acting like one of them, like this guy here. Ā However, if he is going to directly link to my blog, he might try doing his research first, before pontificating.

As for what I wrote,Ā I don’t retract that one iota; I will stand for Christ, before I will ever stand with those who deny that He is the Messiah. If this blowhole has a problem with that; he needs to take up with the Lord, who spoke this world of ours into existence in six short days.

Again, I really hate to go there. But, I felt the need to set this little ankle biter straight. Also too: Dude, get a WordPress blog! Hosting is not that pricey anymore, If you cannot afford a domain and a wordpress blog, you need to get out of blogging. Because Blogspot is about yesterday’s news. I’m just saying…

This is good news

Obviously. I am not a fan of this guy….

But, this is good news for all bloggers everywhere.

I am hearing that the guy will appeal; but it is going to cost him, big time.

The reason this is a good thing, is that one of the biggest fears of being a blogger, is being sued for what you write. It has a chilling effect on freedom of speech. Thankfully, the right people won this case and that’s a good thing.

Can’t we all just get along?

I mean, I can see we Paleocons arguing with neocons; but this?

Via Red Philips over at Conservative Heritage Times:

Apparently theyā€™re has been a longstanding rift between postmodern conservatives (PoMoCons or PoMos)Ā and Front Porch Republic types (Porchers). Who knew? The occasion for the increased discussion of this rift is the fact the Peter Lawler is moving hisĀ Postmodern ConservativeĀ blog fromĀ First ThingsĀ toĀ NRO.

See Rod Dreher here.

Caleb Stegall has a lot of links here.

Peter Lawler here.

This is at FPR.

I think that all of us in what you might call the alternative conservative (meaning outside mainstream conservatism) community have some things in common and mutual enemies, the left and stale mainstream conservatism, but I think the description of the Porchers that is being tossed around describes something much more radical than the reality. The Porchers, at least as represented byĀ FPR, are, as far as I can tell, a bunch of PC phobes. How can you talk about localism and community and ā€œplaceā€ without talking about immigration? Doesnā€™t an influx of non-nativesĀ have a pretty big impact on place?

Like I said over at Red’s place in a comment that ended up in the moderation queue; because I put in the wrong email address… šŸ™„ :

Good-gott-a-mighty, Can’t we all just get along? I mean, we as Conservatives are supposed to be fighting against the neo-liberal, marxist, statism of the Democratic Party. My simple question is this; why fight over who’s legit and who is not? That is silly in my book. I know that neoconservatism is an issue; especially with me. But, alt-right folk fighting over silly stuff? Come on. šŸ™„

Whatever happened to just agreeing to disagree on trivial matters and working together to fight back against those, who want to destroy the traditional, Christian, American values in this Country? Ā Conservatives, of all stripes, camps and cliques need to look at the bigger picture and realize — we have a Country to save and bickering like this, is not going to do that at all.

Just my opinion.

Progressive blogger not too enthralled with the idea of Hillary running for President

Please note: I am not writing this, as a conservative blogger going, “nah nah nah nah boo boo!” But, rather as someone who once voted for Bill Clinton; and voted Democrat in 2000 and 2004.Ā

I guess we are actually seeing some Clinton fatigue.

This was written over at Balloon Juice, whose owner was, at one point, a Republican, but now is a full on progressive, I guess:

I understand it is not her fault, but I would do anything to not see Hillary run in 2016. If it turns out she is the best candidate and has the best chance to keep the White House out of Republican hands, I will crawl over glass to vote for her and do everything in my power to get her elected.

But I just donā€™t know if I can take it anymore. She was such an awful candidate in 2008 and continuously surrounds herself with questionable people, and fuck it. Letā€™s be honest. I quit listening to Blues Traveler around the same time I quit drinking jaegermeister, and I just want all three of them to go away

[…]

I know this is what the GOP wants, but I can not do another round of Vince Foster or Benghazi or whatever. I just canā€™t. And the whole dynastic thing drives me crazy. I just canā€™t take any more Bush or Clinton candidates. People in America (well, those who pay attention) were shocked with the notion of the PRI holding power in Mexico for 71 years, but how many decades have we had a Nixon, Bush, Clinton, or Dole in the running? Itā€™s just weird.

And yes, I remember that Hillary embodied the hopes of feminists everywhere, but is she really the only female Democrat out there who can win? What about Gillibrand? Does it have to be Hillary?

I remember thinking the same thing back in 2007, when the primaries started. “Why her?” was my exact thought. This was about the time that Obama shot forward in the primaries and for a little while, I thought to myself “You know, I think it is about time that we did have a black man as President.” This is when the Rev. Wright stuff came out; and Obama lost me. Now, before anyone accuses me of swallowing the Fox News propaganda — let me say this: I have seen that complete and unedited sermon that Wright preached, like 2 days after 9/11. I watched the entire 9/11 unfold, on TV — on CNN no less. CNN, at the time, was about all I ever watched at the time, when it came to cable news. There was no way in heck, that I was going to vote for someone, who’s Pastor essentially said that America had 9/11 coming to it. Just. no. way.

Anyhow, when it comes to Hillary. I honestly do not believe that she will run. She has too much baggage from her days as Secretary of State. Plus too, all of her baggage from her days as First Lady. Hillary’s no dummy, she knows better. She’s committed to the cause. But, she’s no fool. She will endorse someone else and work to get them elected.

Just my opinion.

The Obama Administration’s useful idiots and water carriers

First of all, before you read my screed; go read Ed Morrissey’s. He puts it a bit better than I will. šŸ™‚

Quote:

When Jay Carney was grilled at length by Jonathan Karl of ABC News over an email outlining administration talking points in the wake of the 2012 Benghazi attack, it was not, by the reckoning of many observers, the White House press secretary’s finest hour. Carney was alternately defensive and dismissive, arguably fueling a bonfire he was trying to tamp down.

But Carney needn’t have worried. He had plenty of backup.

He had The New Republic’s Brian Beutler dismissing Benghazi as “nonsense.” He had Slate’s David Weigel, along with The Washington Post’s Plum Line blog, debunking any claim that the new email was a “smoking gun.” Media Matters for America labeled Benghazi a “hoax.” Salon wrote that the GOP had a “demented Benghazi disease.” Daily Kos featured the headline: “Here’s Why the GOP Is Fired Up About Benghaziā€”and Here’s Why They’re Wrong.” The Huffington Post offered “Three Reasons Why Reviving Benghazi Is Stupidā€”for the GOP.”

It’s been a familiar pattern since President Obama took office in 2009: When critics attack, the White House can count on a posse of progressive writers to ride to its rescue. Pick an issue, from the Affordable Care Act to Ukraine to the economy to controversies involving the Internal Revenue Service and Benghazi, and you’ll find the same voices again and again, on the Web and on Twitter, giving the president cover while savaging the opposition. And typically doing it with sharper tongues and tighter arguments than the White House itself.

via Progressive Bloggers Are Doing the White House’s Job – NationalJournal.com.

The sad part is, I used to be a part of that side of the fence and yes, I even used to read those blogs. What did it for me was when I began to see that the left was not about objectivity; but rather about propaganda. Ā Heck, even about Bush they were known to lie and distort the truth. The truth is about Iraq; is that Bush invaded, based upon the intelligence that he had at the time; and he didn’t “trust, but verify.” The truth is, our Government just assumed that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, this was because the inspectors and our Government were being given the run around by Saddam and his Government. Now in hindsight, this was a bad choice, by Bush and Congress, of course. However, that is a far cry from Bush actually knowingly lying and allowing four thousand America servicemen to die. My point is that is what the left says about Bush, all the time.

So, now that Obama is in the White House, things switched up. They are in defensive mode of the President. The progressive blogosphere is really the White House’s useful idiots. The White House uses them, but, they keep them at a distance. The reason is, because the White House doesn’t like it, when they have the gall to actually criticize the President, which does happen from time to time. The sad part is that it is really for nothing at all. You think the Democrats or the progressive Blogosphere actually accomplished anything? Heck no! They did not stop the Iraq War. They never got Bush impeached. So, really, the Leftist blogosphere is a joke, in my opinion. Not to mention that they are really a hate-filled group, that defends things that I simply cannot; which is why I left them for good.

Just my opinion.

This is why I use the block and report feature on twitter

Just offering a bit of unsolicited comment on two blog postings I just read.

Go read here and here. Ā I won’t quote any of it; it’s just too much.

Anyhow, today I found myself in a bit of a twitter battle with some Arabs on twitter, the ones who use the #OpIsrael hashtag on twitter. Real winners these people are; and I thought I would toy with them a bit. I called them dogs and watched as they and their sock puppets went into attack mode. When the crap started rolling in, I starting blocking and reporting.

https://twitter.com/Americanist313/status/460074563598966785

Yeah, I know, I threw kerosene on a bonfire, so what?Ā  šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜› šŸ˜€

Anyhow, it makes for such a peaceful twitter feed and for a very quiet cellphone. The constant whistling and beeping on ones cellphone, when you’re getting mentions can be a bit unnerving. Yeah, I know, I can disable push up notifications; but that would cause me to miss something important.

On a more serious note: It’s not that I actually hate Muslims or Arabs. However, I happened to be one of the millions of Americas, who watched in horror as those planes slammed into the trade center buildings and the pentagon; and I shook with fear, when the media (CNN in my case) reported that there was plane headed to the White House in 2001. Because of this, I get a bit pissed off, when I see Arab idiots, like these idiots, that I was toying with, blaming Israel for 9/11 or even worse; Alex Jones blaming the United States Government for the 9/11 attacks. Let’s be real about this here: It was Muslims who did 9/11. Radical? Bullcrap. They were muslims that took their koran literally and acted on it. Period, end of damned story. Furthermore, I take offense to muslims and liberals who try to twist the blame back on white people, republicans, conservatives and basically America.

I’m not big on Wilsonian foreign policy; but, I am not a fool. I know who did 9/11; and I don’t trust them; and I believe that terrorism is a threat. This little adventure on twitter proved that. This is why I use block and report; because the more we get these morons off twitter; the better.

That is all.
