Within hours of the disclosure that the federal authorities routinely collect data on phone calls Americans make, regardless of whether they have any bearing on a counterterrorism investigation, the Obama administration issued the same platitude it has offered every time President Obama has been caught overreaching in the use of his powers: Terrorists are a real menace and you should just trust us to deal with them because we have internal mechanisms (that we are not going to tell you about) to make sure we do not violate your rights.
Those reassurances have never been persuasive — whether on secret warrants to scoop up a news agency’s phone records or secret orders to kill an American suspected of terrorism — especially coming from a president who once promised transparency and accountability.
The administration has now lost all credibility on this issue. Mr. Obama is proving the truism that the executive will use any power it is given and very likely abuse it. That is one reason we have long argued that the Patriot Act, enacted in the heat of fear after the 9/11 attacks by members of Congress who mostly had not even read it, was reckless in its assignment of unnecessary and overbroad surveillance powers.
However, there are many things that have come up since then, which I simply cannot defend.
They are:
The IRS targeting Jewish groups. – I mean, honestly, what the hell were the IRS and Obama’s people thinking when they let this one happen?
IRS targeting Conservative groups in Washington and Elsewhere. — Did they not know that this would be exposed?
DOJ going after the AP – This is borderline Watergate, so says a watergate player. — Again, what the hell were these people thinking?
My friends, the “Giving the benefit of the doubt” of the President and his Administration by this writer and blogger are over. There is no doubt in my mind that the Obama administration; much like the Administration of George W. Bush, became consumed with a lust for power and abused and exploited the office of President of the United States and the instruments of Governmental office for political purposes.
The Democrats have screwed themselves out of ever winning an election; for like oh, maybe the next 2 major election cycles. This is the sad part, Obama and his Administration promised Americans that he would be a clean break from the policies and practices of President George W. Bush and his Administration and sadly, it turns out that Obama and his Administration are just as bad; if not even worse. As I wrote before, it is sad ending to a Presidency that offered so much to give; but ended up delivering little or nothing at all, in the realm of change.
It is going to be a long, hot, nasty, political summer for America, Americans, Black Liberal Americans and for Washington D.C.. I just hope that cool heads prevail. But, I really do fear the worst in yet to come.
This is too awesome and the feel good story of the day!
An off-duty U.S. navy sailor wrestled a Dubai bus driver to the ground and beat him into submission after he tried to rape her at knifepoint on Jan. 19, a courtroom heard Wednesday.
The woman, 28, was on 24-hour shore leave in Dubai when she was attacked by a bus driver after he picked her up from the Mall of the Emirates shopping center.
“I noticed he did not take the main road and when I asked him he told me not to worry,” she said, according to the Daily Mail.
He then stopped where several other buses were parked and tried to kiss her. After she refused, he pulled out a knife and tried to rape her.
Prosecutors said that she knocked the knife from his hand, broke it in two, bit him in the hand, forced him to the ground and locked him between her thighs, the Daily Mail reports.
The man, known as K S, has been charged with attempted rape, threatening to kill, assault and consuming alcohol illegally, the Daily Mail reports.
Parents of children attending a Red Hook, New York, middle school are outraged after a recent anti-bullying presentation at Linden Avenue Middle School.
The workshop for 13 and 14-year-old girls focused on homosexuality and gender identity. They were also taught words such as “pansexual” and “genderqueer.”
Parents say their daughters were told to ask one another for a kiss and they say two girls were told to stand in front of the class and pretend they were lesbians on a date.
“She told me, ‘Mom we all get teased and picked on enough. Now I’m going to be called a lesbian because I had to ask another girl if I could kiss her,'” parent, Mandy Coon, told reporters.
Coon says parents were given no warning about the presentation and there was no opportunity to opt-out. Both the school principal and the district superintendent are defending the workshops and advising they will schedule more.
“The school is overstepping its bounds in not notifying parents first and giving us the choice,” another parent said. “I thought it was very inappropriate. That kind of instruction is best left up to the parents.”
“I was absolutely furious — really furious,” a parent who asked to remain anonymous told reporter Todd Starnes, “These are just kids. I’m dumbfounded that they found this class was appropriate.”
Superintendent Paul Finch told The Poughkeepsie Journal the presentation was “focused on improving culture, relationships, communication and self-perceptions.”
“We may require more notification to parents in the future,” Finch said
One simply word comes to mind: Unbelievable. One word folks: Home-School. I did it, and so should every parent today. Because the public school system has just become too evil to send your children to it anymore.
A U.S. Army training instructor listed Evangelical Christianity and Catholicism as examples of religious extremism along with Al Qaeda and Hamas during a briefing with an Army Reserve unit based in Pennsylvania, Fox News has learned.
“We find this offensive to have Evangelical Christians and the Catholic Church to be listed among known terrorist groups,” said Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty. “It is dishonorable for any U.S. military entity to allow this type of wrongheaded characterization.”
Material presented to soldiers at training session.
The incident occurred during an Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief on extremism. Topping the list is Evangelical Christianity. Other organizations listed included Catholicism, Al Qaeda, Hamas, the Ku Klux Klan, Sunni Muslims, and Nation of Islam.
The military also listed “Islamophobia” as a form of religious extremism.
Of course, when caught, the Army quickly raced to cover its butt:
Army spokesman George Wright told Fox News that this was an “isolated incident not condoned by the Dept. of the Army.”
“This slide was not produced by the Army and certainly does not reflect our policy or doctrine,” he said. “It was produced by an individual without anyone in the chain of command’s knowledge or permission.”
Wright said after the complaint was lodged, the presenter deleted the slide, and apologized.
“We consider the matter closed,” he said.
The incident was made public by a soldier who attended the briefing. He asked for copies of the presentation and sent them to the Chaplain Alliance.
“He considers himself an evangelical Christian and did not appreciate being classified with terrorists,” Crews told Fox News. “There was a pervasive attitude in the presentation that anything associated with religion is an extremist.”
Which is the story they always tell the public, when they do something and get caught doing it. I just wonder how long it will be, if the Lord tarries; before the United States Government will begin rounding up those who dare to read from the King James Version of the Bible and start imprisoning those Pastors who dare to preach that homosexuality is a sin and that abortion is murder. I think it will happen, before the Lord’s return myself. Why with the Anti-Defamation League — a leftist Jew-run organization; doing the bidding of the Obama Administration, it is a wonder now that Fundamentalists like myself are not in prison.
It goes without saying that we are in the last days. Things like this, are going to become more and more prevalent and will the norm eventually. As Jesus said, “Watch ye and Pray.” and that my friends, is all that we can really do. Watch and pray and be about our Father’s business; and wait for his blessed return.
A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force” — even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.
The 16-page memo, a copy of which was obtained by NBC News, provides new details about the legal reasoning behind one of the Obama administration’s most secretive and controversial polices: its dramatically increased use of drone strikes against al-Qaida suspects abroad, including those aimed at American citizens, such as the September 2011 strike in Yemen that killed alleged al-Qaida operatives Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan. Both were U.S. citizens who had never been indicted by the U.S. government nor charged with any crimes.
…and of course, an all out whine-fest started on the left and the right. Which totally cracks this independent blogger up. My question to the left whiners is this; are you not the same people that bitched and whined for 8 solid years about a war that was basically started over a false premise? I mean, I happen to be one of the bloggers, who sat and wrote about how damned horrible this war in Iraq really was and how it was senseless that we were sending American soldiers to die in some foreign land, because George W. Bush was given some bad intelligence, as we all know now. You see, I started blogging in 2006, as a left of center blogger; and I remember how the left used that war as their pet issue. Those same people quickly dropped that issue, when President Obama took office.
These same people are now complaining, because the United States has the ability now to send in unmanned drones to do the dirty work, without having to send in groups of troops to risk getting killed. Wake up and smell the coffee people, you do not want terrorists blowing stuff up in your cities, and you do not want war; but yet, when technology makes a way for the USA to get rid of the terrorists, without war, without our Country’s boots on the ground — you complain about it! Here’s the memo — stop your silly bellyaching and be glad we have a way to get rid of these terrorists, who want to kill you and your little puppy dog too.
Now, as for the right; I really find this one to be particularly hilarious as well. The right is in full on, “Oh no! Obama has drones and because he is black and a democrat, he might just use it on we white Conservatives!” 😯 Well, that is not exactly what they are saying; but it is basically what they are thinking. My question to these uppity white people, who are so scared of this black President, because he happens to have drones in the air, ridding the world of Islamic Terrorists is this; where in the heck were you idiots, when Bush was doing this same very damned thing? You were praising him, that is what! But, because Obama is black and is a Democrat, the Conservative concern tolls are out in full force.
Again, I hate to be such an a-hole about this; but I have blogging for 7 long years people and this here really cracks me up. The steaming pile of hypocrisy on the left and the right both stink to the high heavens. Sometimes, some people just need to truly shut the hell up and be glad that the American Government is protecting us and not having to kill our American soldiers in the process.
I have written in here before about how I am not a fan of Piers Morgan and I am not really. But this right here, did us no favors at all, those of us who believe in the second amendment:
If that was not bad enough, there is this:
http://youtu.be/v0sE9hAXXB4
Again, I am sympathetic to the second amendment cause as anyone; but putting Alex Jones on to rant about an American revolution is just not the way to fight for gun rights. I also notice that this story very quickly disappeared from Drudge’s front page and for good reason. I don’t believe we need Alex Jones as our spokesman for the second amendment.
—–
Update: I watched the second video. My impression is this, Alex Jones is either telling the truth or he is one hell of a good actor. Jones is not too far away from the truth about the Mafia and the New World Order stuff. Truth is, he did go into the belly of the beast there in New York.
As for Alex Jones himself, I believe that Morgan got the reaction he wanted from Jones and it suited his agenda well. It might have backfired against the gun defenders however, because toward the end, Jones sounded a bit like he was challenging Bloomberg to a duel or something. Again, it is not that I don’t support what the right believes in gun rights, I do. I still just do not believe that the purpose of gun rights was served well here.
It’s like criticizing a skeptic for inviting the “experts” from “Ancient Aliens” on and then not asking thoughtful questions about aerodynamics. Just wind ‘em up and let ‘em go.
Now that, is funny. Ha! AP also asks for followup question. So, here’s mine. Who the hell had the idiotic idea of allowing this idiot on to defend gun rights!?!?! 😯
You can get Alex Jones version of events here. I didn’t watch the video, I didn’t have the stomach.
Update #2: Mitch Berg is thinking along the same lines as me.
Lester Davis — Disagree with him and he’ll shoot your butt!
WENTZVILLE • A barbershop patron accused of firing three times at another customer discussing the Connecticut school shooting has been charged with three felonies.
Lester Davis, 57, of the 400 block of Highland Meadows Place, is facing charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon.
According to police, Davis was at the All Cuts Barber Shop, 102 West Pearce Boulevard, about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday with five other people.
One of the patrons was discussing last week’s shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and commented that the incident “makes me want to murder the suspect,” police said.
For unknown reasons, Davis took the comment as a threat and asked, “You want to murder me?” Davis then walked out to his Volkswagen sedan, retrieved a loaded Smith & Wesson 9 mm pistol and fired three times in the customer’s direction, police said.
Davis said, “I’ll let you slide,” walked out of the barbershop and drove off in his car, police said.
I will admit it, I have been a disagreeable sort in my day; but I never shot anybody or at anybody in the process! 😯 The really funny thing is, this didn’t happen on the east side of Detroit or anything, this happened in Missouri. But yet, we always how horrible the inner city of Detroit really is and such.
And yes, like Jeff said, Shall we ban barber shops now or maybe even angry black people? 😯 Just saying y’all, just saying… 😀
Already so far, I have pointed that Christians, like David Brody at Pat Robertson’s CBN have been morbidly using this tragic event in Newtown, CT for evangelistic tools. Well, now it seems that well-known members of the so-called “right” are now cashing in on the event as well.
(CNN) – Republican Rep. Tim Scott of South Carolina, the new appointee to replace Sen. Jim DeMint, indicated Wednesday he may oppose any gun control legislation in the Senate next Congress, saying instead the larger issue is one of “moral decay.”
“I think the solutions are not necessarily in new legislation. Perhaps the solution starts with us examining the mental condition of the person and the persons in the past that have had the desire to create the atrocities we have seen recently,” he said on CNN’s “Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien.”
By the way, it is not so much that I really care that he is black and a Republican. Great, wonderful, more power to him. It is that he goes around acting like, “Hey! Look at me, I am black man and a Republican! Yay me!” Big deal dude. Here’s a chicken flavored cookie for ya. It is sort of like identity politics for Conservatives. Something that I find to be very highly annoying. It is not just him; Allen West, Nikki Haley, Most Jewish Republicans, and Michelle Malkin do the same stuff all the time. I like to call them affirmative action conservatives. I mean, really, nobody really gives two flips what you really are; which are corporatist shills to be quite honest with you.
Another stop on the douche-nozzle express train is none other than Newt Gingrich, who’s president campaign was a very well timed joke:
During a local talk radio show early Wednesday morning, former Speaker Newt Gingrich cast his lot with the religious right by blaming last week’s tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut on secularism and immoral video games.
Gingrich joined host Brian Thomas of 55KRC in Cincinnati to discuss his latest book, but the conversation quickly pivoted towards gun control and why godlessness in our schools is really to blame:
When you have an anti-religious, secular bureaucracy and secular judiciary seeking to drive God out of public life, something fills the vacuum. And that something, you know, I don’t know that going from communion to playing war games in which you practice killing people is necessarily an improvement.
The truth is the Republican Party and so-called Conservative movement has not been worth a damn since that day on January 3, 1987, when Senator Barry Morris Goldwater decided that he was not going to take any orders from any special interest groups and decided that a life of retirement was in order. When he left, that Party and that movement went to the toilet. It really kicked into high gear on January 20, 1989, when then President Ronald Wilson Reagan waved goodbye to the people at the airport and prayed that he had left the reigns of the Nation in good hands with his successor.
Image? Nah, more like total rottenness from within.
This proves that above which I wrote. The GOP is rotten from within, and has been for years.
